Nokia X6-00 Does Not Want To Make Or Recieve Calls

Hey, i'm new to the nokia discussion forum, i am however not new to being a Nokia customer.
Never had problems with Nokia in the past, and after happily purchasing a Nokia X6-00 16GB in the month of March of this year, my thoughts on Nokia only reinforced WHY i've always gone with Nokia.
Now, i purchased the phone when i was living in England, i moved back to Cyprus in April shortly after the purchase and got the phone unlocked, put in a Cypriot Sim card with CytaMobile. Everything was just great.
This past month as been slightly less of a joy though, out of no fault of my own, the phone seems to stop recieving and making calls, all calls get diverted to my answer phone, and to solve this problem i have had to turn the phone off, then back on again. Problem solved.
That was until this morning. I can still recieve texts but if someone attempts to call me, they are greeted with a 'beep' and then the phone call ends on their end.
For me i am greeted with deadly silence, then a little notification saying 'No Answer'.
I have restarted the phone;
Restored Factory Settings'
Upgraded to the latest firmware it will let me, being v20;
Still no luck, i am hoping it is not an internal problem with the phone, as in Cyprus as far as 'Offical' nokia care points are non-existant. The SIM card is on a contract, so if my phone had been cut off, so would my messaging and my internet which are all still in-use, and work just fine without problems.
If anyone can help solve this urgent matter it would be great.
On another note, if you are unable to find a cause for that problem, maybe you can give me a quick reasoning on why the phone shuts itself off when i choose the facebook application on occasions. Again only over the past month has this been happening.
Regards,
Ray AKA Uproar

i also have the same issue, had my phone about 6 motnhs from a 3 store.
I keep losing reception and my phone just wont take calls and goes straight to answerphone (even if for once it is showing plenty of signal strength). I have no idea when my phone will work or not. I just tried to call it, it is showing 5 bars of strength and the siganl symbol has a green connectivity logo. Often if i try to make a call it wont let me. Ive tried the usual taking out the battery, sim and rebooting but this does nothing.
Any ideas? I keep getting a variety of diff coloured symbols below the signal meter, ranging from a yellow warning sign, to an amber symbol with a line through it and a green symbol with what looks like a = sign.
Any help would be great as i really need my phone right now!
Thanks
Rose

    Hey all

So when I go to options and say check update, it asks my do I want to connect? and it will cost normal data call costs. So I say yes like always, but now it says Connection error. so then I go back to options and click sever profiles. I find that there is no info at all. So does anyone know the server settings for Vodacom SA?
    Thanks

If you would like to post the seven digit product code upon label under battery starting with "0" could tell you which is the latest firmware version available for your device. Presumably you have already tried connecting with Nokia Suite installed upon PC?

  • My iphone 3 is mainly showing "searching" then flicks up 5 bars but is still not able to make or recieve calls most of the time. Not sure why, wasnt an issue the day before!

I've done a complete reboot, software is all up to date, the sim works fine in another phone, so has to be something mechanical I think. Is it fixable?

I'm sorry to hear of the hassle you're having with your telephone service Spurspad, if you would like the mod team to look into this for you please fill out our contact form (you can find the link to this form in my profile under "about me") and we'll get it sorted.

  • E71 - Nokia PC Suite - does not connect ? unable t...

I installed Nokia PC Suite (v7.1) on my PC's:
    Connected Nokia E71 with USB-cable
(Mass Storage > Via Windows Explorer  I can see the directories on the memory card of the E71)
Problem-1: Nokia PC Suite gives error: "unable to find device"
(while phone is unlocked, USB mode is not applicable)
Problem-2:  Also Nokia Software Updater does not work (cannot find device)
Happens both on XP and Vista PC.
In other words... I can't access my E71 at all. Who knows a solution ?

Hi, i just ran into the same problem with the "Device Not Found" I will give the steps for what fixed  my problem.
Connect the phone to your computer via data cable. Select "Connect Pc to Web". Then, inside the folders run the installer.exe** and select Repair instead of Uninstall. Now your device should work like a charm.
**If the installer.exe interrupts you saying that the version installed on the computer is newer than what you are trying to install and exits itself, you will have to go to control panel to uninstall Nokia Pc Suite and reinstall it with the phone you plan on using so it will be the correct version. Even after you reinstall Nokia Pc Suite you may have to run the installer.exe a second time and select repair before it will work. I did anyways.
I hope this fixes your problems you are having. Also the reason it is hard to get tech support for stuff like this is because when you can connect your mobile internet to the pc you can use a lot of data because you have more access to things. Eventhough you may have an unlimited data plan most if not all companies will ban your phone possibly without notice if you use more data then they want you too. Also tethering, which is what we are all trying to do. Is illegal for most if not all phone companies. Always best to read the Terms and Conditions.
As far as the USB not beeping when connecting the cable. I didn't hear mine either but it worked but if yours isn't working try this: Start -> Right-Click Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager-> Check all USB devices to  make sure they are working properly and you may need to reinstall them.
Please reply to let me know if anything worked. If it did please check solution button to allow other people to find my post. Thanks for any replys to my post.

  • HT1689 how can i undisable my ipod touch when itunes does not want to connect?

My brother's ipod touch 4th generation was cracked on the screen and was not able to see anything after a while. We finally fixed it and now it says "IPOD DISABLED CONNECT TO ITUNES". We tried connecting it and itunes does not want to connect because it says that the ipod has a passcode and until we unlock it, it will do it. So we our stuck and on top of that, the ipod's power button does not work, so we waited to uncharge the ipod so we can try to connect it again and it still won't do it. We do not know what to do, and we cannot afford to buy a new one. Is there a solutiong for this? Thank You.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

You can either run this file , go online to Microsoft's site for a fix, or manually fix it by following the instructions below:
    Manually delete the registry entries
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
322756  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/ ) How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
Note Before you use this method, uninstall all CD or DVD writing or recording programs. Deleting the corrupted registry entries might cause problems with any other CD or DVD writing or recording programs that are installed on your computer. Uninstalling these programs before you start will help you avoid any problems that removing the registry entries might cause. You can reinstall these programs after the problem is resolved.
This method provides step-by-step instructions for how to use Registry Editor to delete the following corrupted Registry entries:
    UpperFilters
    LowerFilters
Step 1: Start Registry EditorStart Registry Editor
Start Registry Editor...type "regedit" into the run box on the start menu.
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry
In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
Expand Control, and then expand Class.
    Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click UpperFilters.
Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only.
If you see the UpperFilters registry entry in the details pane of Registry Editor, go to step 6.
If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to "Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry."
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Click Yes when you receive the following message:Are you sure you want to delete this value?
Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry
In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click LowerFilters.
Note You might see a LowerFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click LowerFilters only.
If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content is unable to help you any more. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Click Yes when you receive the following message:Are you sure you want to delete this value? The LowerFilters registry entry is removed.
    Exit Registry Editor.
    Step 4: Restart your computer
Restart your computer. After you have done this, try to access the CD or DVD drive. If you can access the CD or DVD drive, and if you do not receive an error message, the problem is resolved. You can reinstall your CD or DVD writing or recording software.

  • Macbook pro does not want to start up

Hi! I am having issues with my MacBook Pro. What's happening is that when I turn it on it does not want to load anything. I push the power button and the apple logo comes up and the little loading symbol at the bottom just keeps going around and around. I've left it on for about an hour straight to see if it finally loads or if anything happens and still I get no where. Has anyone had this issue before and if so, how was it resolved? I don't have the extend warranty from apple, so they're charging my $20 right off the back to use over the phone service. I have no problem paying for it, just rather see if there is a simple free way to get it fix instead of having to pay just to talk to someone over the phone. I also can't remember what operating system I am running on. PLEASE HELP!

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to a Mac Pro tower, not to any other model. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • WET54G does not seem to make WRT300N signal better

    Greetings,
A friend of mine is using a WRT300N, firmware v0.93.3, as his router for both wireless and wired connections. The signal does not reach the other side of his house for whatever reason. The router is less than 25 feet from the other side of the house but the signal does not reach, so he purchased a WET54G. I set it up for him, while it was hardwired to one of the computers, then I unplugged it and moved it about 15 feet or so away from the WRT300N and kept it wireless. It does not seem to make the signal any better at the other side of the house. I went into the WET54G's settings and performed the Site Survey, selected the WRT300N's SSID and everything seemed to connect just fine. Is there anything else to this? What else could I try to make this signal better? I feel that there is probably some obstacles in the way of the signal, like an electrical breaker room and an air conditioning unit, as well as some dry wall, but I didn't think that would make a big deal. Anyway, here is some pertinent information about the devices, maybe my settings are just not right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendations on antenna's would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
    WET54G:
    SSID: home
    Network Type: Infrastructure
Security is Enabled and set to WPA Pre-Shared, TKIP, same password as WRT300N
    Device Ip: 192.168.0.109
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.0.10
    Transmission Rate: Auto
    Authentication Type: Open
    Threshold: 2347
    Frag Threshold: 2346
    Cloning Mode: Disabled
    WRT300N:
    SSID:home
    Network Mode: Mixed (Which N,B, & G)
    Radio Band: Wide-40Mhz Channel
    Wide channel: 3
    Standard Channel: 5 - 2.432GHZ
    SSID Broadcast: Enabled
Wireless Security: PSK Personal, TKIP, same pass as WET54G
    Mac Filter is Disabled
    Device Ip: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Start Ip: 192.168.0.100
    Maxium Number of Users: 10
Also, when I go to DHCP Reservation, which I am not using, I do not see the WET54G, but the desktop and the four labtops are listed.
All the settings on the WRT300N, under  Advance Wireless Settings are all default.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Message Edited by MeGGa on 04-21-200705:44 PM

I am a little confused by your post.  Are you using the WET to receive a wireless connection from the WRT300N, or are you trying to use the WET to retransmit the wireless signal, and thereby increase your wireless range?   The WET is designed only to receive a signal, then pass it along an ethernet wire to the computer's ethernet port.
The WET54G is set to an improper fixed LAN IP address.  Fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be OUTSIDE the DHCP server range.  Your DHCP server range is 192.168.0.100  thru 192.168.0.109.    I would suggest you set your WET to 192.168.0.226  (similar to its default), unless you have another device at that address.  At least get it out of your DHCP server range.   Because 192.168.0.226 is automatically recognized as a fixed LAN IP address, you do not need to make a "DHCP Reservation" for it.    Additionally, the gateway on the WET should be the same as the WRT300N's address, 192.168.0.1
I'm not sure why you are getting such a poor wireless range.  However, there is no reason to expect the WET54G to have any more range than an ordinary wireless g card, unless you have put a high gain antena on it, like the HGA7S.
Your WRT300N would be expected to have its best range if the computer that you were connecting to used a Linksys wireless N adapter.
Also, make sure your WRT300N is properly located.  Try to minimize the obstructions between the router and computer.  Make sure the router is placed in an open area, and several feet up off the floor.   Do not place it behind your computer monitor, or with other obstructions around it.  The antennas should be verticle.  I am not sure of how to position that square antenna - perhaps twisting it to the right or left might help.
Make sure the WRT300N has a unique SSID.  Do not use "linksys".  Do not use any SSID that your neighbors are using.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, Bluetooth (including Bluetooth game controllers), microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, and your neighbor's wireless network. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, you might want to try separating your own channels.  I see you are using 3 and 5.   Maybe further apart would help.
    Hope this helps.
