Nokias amazingly tolerant customers

I think Nokia are incredibly lucky to have such loyal, tolerant and forgiving customers. After years of bug ridden, unreliable and often poorly functioning Nokia phones I have given up and switched to Sony Ericson's. I appreciate that Sony do not seem to produce phones with as many features as Nokia. However judging by my own experiences and a great many posters on these and other forums, many of these features do not appear to work as they are supposed to. Again it seems that people in droves are flocking to buy N95s. Yet already it appears that the phone is ridden with flaws, if users on this forum are anything to go by. With my experience of Nokia customer service, which has been practically non-existent I can see it taking months for firmware revisions to sort out some of the problems. By then Nokia will have moved on to the next phone that they can beta test on their "gullible fan club". When will people learn and avoid Nokia phones. I have!!

The nokia care services/sales centres are not as smart as the smartphones they make. I,long time ago told if nokia make complicated devices their staffs should be more clever, technical and elligible to solve the problems created by the technologically advanced critical phones.
For instance, in our country there are only two customer service centre, one claims they have level 3 service quality. Once I found my N91's "microdrive is not found" and "installing" problems,I went there and they promised they will solve the problem and also upgrade to latest version [I was in 1.10 and really needed 2.10], y know what-nothing happened. I went there after two days as they told me to go and I saw my N91 is wrapped, hoped that the problem is solved. But I got very helpless when I found the problems are not solved and the SW was not upgraded.I solved the two problems with my brain and upgraded to 2.10 in my cousin's house.
Now, whenever I find an e-mail survey of nokia I always mention to upgrade their physical support services-what can be done more by me else?

  • More Feedback: Why I chose Nokia and why it won'...

This is more feedback for Nokia, following up to my previous post.  I would like everyone to share their thoughts too.  I'd like to see Nokia Listen to customers for once.
I bought an E7 due the following:
Unlocked phone = no capped data plan that costs twice as much as the one I had, which is really unlimited.
Full real keyboard--I'm a tactile person--need the keys.
Free Voice Navigation--which I use a lot when traveling for business.
Ability to turn phone into wireless hotspot -- with JoikuSpot Premium. (third party)
Abillity to selectively block/route calls--with Advanced Call Manager.  A must-have app for on-call people. (third party)
PDF Reader -- Nothing better than reading PDFs without my laptop.
Office Suite -- Great for on-the-go editing and viewing.
Zip - Built-in Zip Tool is also a big plus for me.
SIP Client Built-in -- I use this a LOT as a second line when I am not traveling and as a backup line (in case of poor service) when I am traveling.
Nokia Internet Radio -- I use this a lot.  Love having free internet radio available.
FM Radio -- I don't use this much but it's a nice to have.
Lotus Traveler Support -- For my Corporate E-mail.   Too bad IBM discontinued Lotus Mobible Connect (VPN) support for Symbian^3.
    Reasons I almost didn't buy an E7
Battery life -- unlike my prior E71 (which I now regret switching from) the battery life is average.  My E71 would run for a full day of solid use.  I knew going in that it wasn't going to be great battery life--usually a hallmark of E Series--and thought I could live with it.  I can, but I wish the battery life was on-par with previous offerings.
No SD/xD/Any Compact Flash Slot -- Truthfully, I can get by on the 16G in the phone, but if I had the ability to use removeable memory, I'd be able to take movies (as MKV or MP4s), music, etc., as I go.
Battery not removeable--this is a real problem for business users.  Multi-hour conference calls, etc.,  We need to be able to swap batteries.  This was my biggest detractor.
Poor Software options compared to other platforms.  This passed because the phone includes the things I needed/wanted most.
The worst built-in VPN on the planet.  I have a lot of IT infrastructure experience.  Few enterprise class devices as a complex and troublesome to configure as Nokia VPN.  It makes what would be a game-changing feature useless.
Reasons why I will switch to another mobile platform
Build quality increased for other mobile platforms.
Functionality has dramatically increased for other mobile platforms.
Costs are such that I can pay out of pocket for the extra features I want (that Symbian gives for free) and still get a phone for less with better support and available software choices than Nokia provides.
I am not convinced that Symbian will live beyond the next few years--being that I pay out of pocket for phones, I want them to last 3-4 years.  I am not sure that they will now.
Reasons why I will never buy another Nokia Product
You no longer support the US.  You've pretty much given up.  Only a token effort is made.  Carriers don't have your good phones anymore and the ones they did have were crippled beyond belief, damaging/removing/disabling the most appealing features in place of carrier crapware and high prices.
Product Quality has declined.  Nokia has lost marketshare faster than a submarine with a screen door takes on water--which has lead to staffing cuts and you can tell.  The changes between one generation of products is noticeable--what was once superb is now just average to good.
Software Updates--you did fix the most awful thing with prior Symbian Updates--they are no longer destructive.  Fantastic.  I was so happy to get this ability.  But, your lack of scheduling and customer expectation setting is unforgiveable.  Most of us are willing to put up with a reduced experience by you committing to making things better--at some point.  Release dates, especially in the US are a black hole.  All your US customers buy your products outright--usually at a cost of 200-500 dollars each.  Subsidized phones are 0-150 for most carriers.  There is no longer sufficent capability nor quality differences to justify the costs.
Software Setup -- Symbian ^3 is great in general.  But it comes with such insane default settings for home screens and widgets default to online in some releases, which sucks battery life at an unreal pace. The other big complaint is initial navigation.  The default settings make it hard to view even 1/4 the functions available (at least on the E7.) and I cannot figure out why you let product go out the door configured in such a way as the average person will instantly hate the device.
Network and program information notices are for **bleep**.  Applications constantly fight over WiFi and applications asking for confirmations never properly identify themselves.
Finally--Symbian is Dead? Maybe Dead? Will live but be half-heartedly supported?  You have never really said.  It's obvious the focus will be Windows for the foreseeable future, but what about after 2016?  Is symbian 100% gone then?  Is support and service for it going to to continue to decline till then?  Your lack of response and communication on if  you will stand behind the Operating System that made you once the largest mobile provider on the planet is shameful.  It will cost you developers.  It will cost you customers.
    General Symbian Feedback
Why can't you keep market share in the US?  It's simple.  In the US, the average person works 50-60 hours per week.  They also have 2.4 kids.  Those 2.4 kids have at least 5-10 hours of after-school activities per week.  Worst case is the average person spends 90 hours per week outside the home and has virtually no freetime (or sleep) they do not have the skills, inclination, no desire to spend hours customizing Symbian just the way they want it.  They want loads of features, but they want them in one to two clicks/taps.  Beyond that and you've lost the majority of the audience.  If you would simply take the time make an "Initial Setup Wizard" that would let people do dramatic customizations quickly and simply, you could reclaim a lot of the US market with Symbian's loads of features.
US Customers, Please provide similiar feedback.

I had the E6 (after using a SE Xperia X2 for two horrible month's)
It was a "Nokia" , if you understand what I mean .... A brand that stands for quality, a simple Processor, a simple OS, nice specifications. A qwety Phone, like my E5 (which I loved, and I stupidly exchanged for the Xperia)
I had no super performance expectations from it. Just that it was an improved E5 .
And then, by using it, I noticed, no notification-light, very week vibration - insensible (which is essential for my job), SMS were set to search contacts by number and not by name (if so, what's the use of qwerty for????), lame app support - most paid, no sorting option in the music library, no headphone incoming call or SMS tone when listening to music in silent mode (Which the E5 knew), no shutter-sound off-option (although other E6 Handsets, had that option), the USB on the go, could read Folders from the USB only if you used the Default-Nokia Names for Folder, for example Sound's (MP3), Pictures, etc., pinch to zoom was horrible, no software support from Nokia!
After the Xperia X2, I hat so high expectations of Nokia reliability.
My Mom got a 701, it's a much better phone, but also got it's bugs. But I will never return to Nokia.

  • Nokia E5 - Product released with bugs - Any Nokia ...

I bought Nokia E5 assuming it's a super Smartphone at affordable price but i was conned. It doesn’t even have features present in budget phone. You have released this product with lots of bugs. I want someone from the higher ups respond to my complaint.
1>    Even if you have 3G internet it is slow and takes a long time to display pages. Sometimes it is stuck at 0k and does not load the page. Bug: There is a BACK button at the bottom right of the screen to go back to previous page but doesn’t work. The page gets stuck at this point. If you’re lucky you should click on the back on the web page itself.
2>    Lack of feature: When you receive an SMS, classic Nokia phones display name of the person who has messaged. This phone only shows ‘1 message received’ no name display.
3>    Lack of feature: All Nokia phones have a feature where you can send text message to recently used recipients, numbers in called register, contacts etc. so that you don’t have to add recipients again and again. This feature does not exist in E5.
4>    Defect: ‘Options’ Key on the left side doesn’t work..need to press hard to get it working (it’s specific to my phone and was working earlier)
5>    Defect: Often looses connection while talking and gets ‘connection error’. Even if you dial back the same error shows up. If the caller is trying to call at this time, they get not reachable issue. You need to switch Off and On the phone, wait till it reboots and then it connects again. Looses signal many times. This is not SIM issue, one time I rebooted the phone and still had lost signal. I put the SIM in my old 2700 classic; I found there was full signal. I put the SIM back into E5 still had lost signal. I did not use the phone for ½ day and then tried putting Sim again, it worked. Pathetic phone!!!
6>    Feature made complex: All Nokia phones have an option to Mark/Unmark text messages or contacts to delete. For ex: if I choose to delete 10 messages from my inbox, I can go to options and select ‘Mark’. Later on Mark button is active and you can just highlight the message and keep pressing center key on keypad and it’ll automatically start marking the items. Once all 10 messages are marked, choose delete and they’re deleted. In E5, every time you have to navigate to options and select ‘Mark’. For ex: if you want to delete 10 messages from inbox, you need to navigate 10 times and select ‘Mark’. What a time waster!!!
7>    Do you call this a business phone? Lack of feature: You can snooze a reminder only up to 5 times.  After 5 snoozes the option to snooze does not display. While I can snooze infinite times in my 2700 classic. Budget phone is better!!!
8>    Product limitation: It has a built in dictionary which doesn’t have many words. For ex: retrospective
9>    Bug: If you install any application dictionary, you cannot type lower case letters for certain words. In order get a meaning of a word say ‘ordinance’, you should type oRDinAncE. I’ve installed 4 dictionaries and had this issue with every one of them, so this is not app specific. The same app(English mini) in 2700 worked just fine.
10> Bug: Built in Map application doesn’t work most of the times. It gets stuck on Waiting for GPS while my friend’s Iphone gets full GPS signal.
11> Bug: Built in ‘Google’ app doesn’t work either. It only displays the result, when you try clicking on one of the results, you get ‘unable to open this browser…’ while you can open a new web page and type www.google.com, search for results, click on the link it works. Damn I can’t even uninstall built in google app.
12> Product limitation: You cannot organize your songs, the way you want. It displays everything including ring tones. I think Nokia wants their customers to listen to mp3 ring tones while travelling.
13> Lack of feature:  How to turn off Camera sounds? You can’t, this is ridiculous and disturbing.
Trust me Nokia has lost its market to Samsung and Apple. Nokia phones are no longer reliable. What a waste of money for Rs 9500/- I don’t even get features available in a classic budget phone. If you have a convincing response let me know.

    Hi ,
The same problems are faced by me in my Nokia E5 handset as mentioned by navbond007.
This is really pathetic  and shame on Nokia that even knowing the problem they are not responding to their customers.
Seriously nokia is loosing his name by creating such useless products, and no quality thing is anymore associated with this brand.

  • WE SHOULD BAN USING NOKIA IN INDIA!!!

    Unfortunately, you are.
Every manufacturer of electronic data storage devices, Nokia included, advises customers to take regular back-ups of their personal data in case of data loss, which can happen in any such device for a number reasons. Protecting your personal data is your responsibility.

    Thanks
    Srinath

    Hi Srinath,
Check with the following thread can help you:
No amount authorization for customers/vendors in company code 123..
    Also
You might want to check the following:
    Configure Vendor-Specific Tolerances
    Define Tolerance Groups for Employees
    Define Tolerances (Customers)
Search SPRO for these and you will find what you need.
    Kind Regards,
    Fernando Evangelista

  • F-28 : the difference is not controlled with Tolerance Group !

    Hi,
    I'm posting an incoming payment = 1000 $ against an invoice = 1200 $ with Tcode F-28
then i enter the difference of 200 $ in Residual items table and i enter the reason code.
when i save the system accept despite that the maximum difference tolerated in my tolerance group is 50 $   ??!
i have done the following configurations in SPRO :
1- Define Tolerance Groups for Employees : for permetted payment differences i entered 50 $ for Revenue and Expense
    2- Assign User/Tolerance Groups
3- Define Tolerances (Customers) : for permetted payment differences i entered 50 $ for Gain and Loss
4- i created a Reason code, and i assigned it to the appropriate account
5- in the Customer master data (XD02) i entered Tolerance Groups
Please did i foreget some other configuration, because i have a difference for more than 50 $ to clear, and the system accept ?! it must display an error message saying that the difference is too large for clearing.
    Please advise
    Regards.

    Hi
You mentioned that you created a Reason Code and assigned it to the appropriate account.
This means that you had assigned Reason Code and G/L Account in OBXL--->Define Accounts for payment differences.
The difference of 200$ is being sent to Small Balance Write Off account ie the appropriate GL Account you had mentioned. ie y the system is accepting the payment of 1000$.
If you want the system to display an error message saying that the difference is too large for clearing , Go to OBXL and remove that assignment.
    This will solve your problem
    Regards

  • Nokia N9 got future?

I am a hardcore fan of Nokia. I bought N9. It is a great phone I ever had. I have a good prospect to this N9 as it is a 1st Nokia phone running on Meego. However, Nokia shifted to focus on window phone after introduring Meego. It looks like abandoned by Nokia. It makre meke feel sad. I feel really sad not because of lack of apps in N9 but is the way that Nokia treating their customers (introduce>bye bye). Does anyone has the same feeling with me?

defntly, i got sad becze  i wont be able to buy a phone based on meego platfoam in future,, i have used android, and ios, but i never feel confotable enought as nokia n9. this a greate device which i ever had. so simple, very sexy look,userfriendly....this what people want, nokia n9 gave thease all things, nokia could have sort out the issues associated with meego such as could have develop apps, this would have lead nokia to create copmpetitive advantage in future, with awesome OS meego.however nokia got wrong decision to develop WP, since HTC and another some devices are practicing this. many of the nokia customers ,especially meego lovers have disapointed dueto decison of nokia.

  • The trauma giver

I bought nokia N91 (4GB) from Nokia priority dealer on August 15, 2007. For the first 20 days the phone was working properly and after that while i was taking one snap the phone's hard drive got corrupted. Simultaneously, i formatted the hard drive. After the hard drive was formatted the phone was not working at its normal pace, so i visited Nokia Care center (SR Trading, Eldams Road, Teynampet, Chennai). They asked me to surrender the handset there and to collect my swapped handset after a weeks time. I gave my handset to them and after two weeks i got the call from Nokia Care people stating that my swapped handset is ready. I went there and collected the handset. They said that swapped handset is a brand new handset provided to the customer, but to my amazement the handset was used for good 10 minutes of time and have some images also in there. But, still on the assurance provided by the nokia care people that hard drive problem will not re-occur again, i accepted the handset.
After that the phone was working properly for one month or so. In the meantime i went to kerala on a holiday trip and took some 300 snaps and 25 videos which occupied barely 1.75gb of the total capacity of 4gb. After returning back to Chennai i connected my mobile to the pc to transfer images, but while the images were transferring, the hard drive got corrupted again. And this time i suffered a huge data loss of 300 images and videos. When, again i contacted the nokia care, they said again they will issue one swapped handset to me and while accepting the handset i wrote very clearly on the job sheet that, if the hard drive again gets corrupted, under any circumstances I'll not be accepting N91. This time also the swapped phone which was given to me was found to be a used phone. This time i was being given the assurance by the Territory Manager (SOUTH), MR. Gopal of nokia that there will be no problem in the hard drive again.
After accepting the so called swapped handset for the second time, the hard drive again got corrupted and i was totally frustrated. This time i again i made a call to the Territory Manager (South) of nokia and his response was very cold and he also said that swapped handset means a new handset provided to the customer. But, every time i was given the swapped handset, it was already a used one. Add, to this i said to Mr. Gopal that the Nokia Care people have provided me a used handset under the banner of swapped handset. He said that he'll talk to them. Then, i said to him under any circumstances i'm not going to acceopt N91 phone, because after there 'n' number of assurances provided also, the hard drive was getting corrupted. I proposed him the idea of handing over any other handset equivalent to the price which i have paid for the N91 model. He summarily rejected my request and disconnected the phone line.
Is this the policy of Nokia to treat customers and N91 was like a mental agony for me, a sort of trauma which made my life and time hell, by doing the rounds of Nokia Care and the showroom. Whether these are the policies of Nokia India to undermine consumers interest and keep their gimmicks on top.

You may need to use EasyBCD.
XP should be installed before Vista.
Which is likely way XP boots.

  • N95 and the New Ford Focus (post 09/08) Sony Bluet...

I have a really annoying problem with my N95 and the New Ford Focus (post 09/08) Sony Bluetooth system. The phone connects no problem at all and I can make and receive calls. Selecting some of the directory information on the Sony system such as phone book or missed calls shows that the Sony system is trying to read these from the phone without much success. Even after 20 minutes it seems to have either hung or states that the function is sometimes unavailable. I would be reasonably happy if this was the only problem I had was experiencing but I find than within 10 - 25 minutes of connecting the phone it disconnects from the Sony system. The disconnection seems to be caused by the Sony Bluetooth system as any other functions such as the CD or USB reset themselves which is itself annoying.
I have tried connecting the phone manually, reducing the items in my address book from 150 to 50 to nothing, pairing, un pairing all to no effect.
The Ford connectivity site says that the N95 is fully compatible from 09/08 no I am struggling slightly to understand what the problem might be.
My O2 N95 version is 21.0.016 which is higher than the version Ford has tested but they also mention that there are no incompatible versions of the OS.
Has anybody else experienced these problems or aware of a fix?
    Cheers

Hi and Thank you for your question, I agree we would not be in this situation if ford and nokia would take customers seriously...anyways what you need to do is first in my country south africa the bluetooth for the focus is not an option at all, then you will be required to buy the kit from ford, which include several items that comes separately e.g the stalk for the steering control that has a voice button, a bluetooth module and a mic and a cable to interlink everything, from there onwards, get someone or yourself to fit the kit in the car once that is done you will then need to go back to your dealership/shop and request then to reprogramme the car with a IDS Machine with the SRM module....please read further for more instructions...

  • Any solution yet to the C3 display flaws?

From what I understand, there is no way to adjust the brightness of the display, nor change the time that it takes for the device to drop into sleep mode. First of all, I don't understand why Nokia decided that customers shouldn't be able to change these. The display is so awfully bright, it physically hurts my eyes. The sleep mode timer is so horribly short that I have to press random buttons all the time just to keep the light from going out. Now, I heard a rumour that it is actually possible to change these by hacking the device with the help of a PC. Is there any truth to this? How can it be done? Other than that, is there any hope that we will see these options made available to us in some future firmware update, or does Nokia adamantly believe that it is a good idea to deny us the ability to customise our phones? I'm seriously considering returning the C3 to the store, because of that frustrating flaw.

True or false it's against the rules to discuss any form of hacking here as that voids the warranty. Try elsewhere for that.
If you would like a comment from nokia about these "issues" you need to contact them using the "contact us" link near the top or bottom of this page.

  • Calls sound distorted and broken up?

Hi, currently having the same fun and games as everyone else with there new N97's, but one thing i was really let down on was the sound quality when you were on a call. Every call i have made so far regardless of who i call or where i am, it sounds very tinny and has a constant break up or distortion to it. People at the other end say they can hear my clearly though. It sounds like im loosing my signal, but i have almost full signal everytime.
It reminds me of the cordless phones at work when they arent close to there handset base's. Havning an LG Viewty previous to this i am very dissapointed with the N97. I think the technology inside the phone is great, its just unfortunate the software isnt up to date with it and customers basically have a BETA version of a phone. Why release a phone with these bugs and then issue updates for it? At the end of the day Nokia are loosing customers to other brands that produce better quality and spec phones with proper end user software straight from the box.
This is only my second Nokia in around 15 years and it could easily be another 15 before i contemplate another.

  • Apply 100% Cash Discounts on Residual Payments

    Hello,
My client has the requirement to apply complete discount amount on partial receipts in F-28. This is because the discounts are calculated only on net amount and the customer will pay the net amount initially and will pay vat amouts quarterly.
    Below example explains the situation
In SAP the billing document 9-484  has the following amounts
    Net amount: 6350.28
    Discount    :    63.50  ( Discount based on net , 1%)
    Tax amount :1206.55 ( 19 % based on net)
In the accounting , the postings are
    AR reconciliation a/c 7556.83
    Revenue account : 6350.28
    Tax account : 1206.55
The customer only makes payment for the product amount within the payment terms.
Since the discount is based on the net amount(product amount) he only pays 6286.78
In F-28, I enter 6286.78 and select the invoice which shows total amount as 7556.83 with discount of 63.50.
I apply residual payment and simulate the posting
Only cash discount of 53.12 is applied on the invoice as it tries to split the discount proportionally.
<b>Is it possible to apply the total cash discount available on residual payments ?</b>
    Please advise

    Hi Ashok,
The discount is being calculated on the net amount, but the payment is assumed to be gross, hence only a portion of the discount is being applied.
    Wiliam,
          Under Spro >Financial Accounting>Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable>Business Transactions>Incoming Payments>Manual Incoming Payments>Define Tolerances (Customers)
Check that the flag  "Only grant partial cash disc." is not set.
    This might solve your problem.
    Kind regards

  • Manual Clearing

    Dear all,
After creating a customer invoice, I want to clear it. I call transaction F-32, specify company code 1000, account number of customer 108 and click "Process Open Items", but it raise an error: "The entry 1000 is missing in table T043G". Do you know this error ? How could I resolve this problem ?
    Thank you very much,
    Sylvecast.

    Hello
You have not maintained the tolerances against customers due to which it gives the same error. in customisation IMG please follow the below mentioned path
and define the tolerances for your company code.
    Financial Accounting->Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable->Incoming Payments->Manual Incoming Payments->Define Tolerances (Customers)->
If the answer resove your doubt as well as issue kindly give the marks

  • F-28 problem

when we post using F-28, Cash Discount is automatically calculated by SAP. but user is able to override the system calculated discount. can SAP block the User Override option? how to achieve it, thanks

The cash discount displayed in the clearing can be changed within the framework of the tolerance limits for users and customers/vendors.
