Non-manual setting of parameters?

Do parameters within Crystal Reports 10 have to always be manually set? Or could something like a DB table or flat file be used to populate possible parameter values as the report is executed? Please direct me to a previous post if this has been asked before.

when you create the paramter you can select the table and field to use and they db values will be displayed, the only problem with this is if the change daily you have to update the parameter daily. if it is just a look up table it works well.

Generally, I know that if you want to re-use a parameterized manual test case and without impacting the parameters in the first test plan.
I suggest you could try to right click this parameterized manual test case ->Select the Create copy and add to suite option like the following screen shot.
Then the parameterized manual test case can be re-used as a new test case in this MTM and it will did not impact the original parameterized manual test case.

How does one set databse parameters in Tomcat to run a servlet?

Hi, I am trying to run a applet-servlet code, downloaded from the web. According to the installation instructions, the following is stated:
Database Parameters. You can provide different database parameters to the servlet. These parameters are set during the administration of the servlet.
dbDriver - name of the database driver class name (default = sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver)
dbURL - complete database URL (default = jdbc:odbc:StudentDatabase)
userid - user id (default = <none>)
passwd - password (default = <none>)
I am running TOMCAT on a Windows2000 machine. My question is how to does one set the parameters in TOMCAT. What is the default userid and password for TOMCAT.
Any help/advise is appreciated in advance. Thanks.Regards.

You can set those dates in the DAC system parameters tab. You should see lots of $$xxxxxx parameters.
If I may, I'd suggest you use the OBI Applications forum for questions on DAC.

Set AppSet Parameters description

Hello everybody,
I've been searching for a document that contains all the parameters that can be set inside the Web admin tasks in the "Set AppSet parameters" but i've found none. I'd appreciate if someone has this information, just the description for each id and what's for would be great.

Set Application Parameters link not activate under Web Admin Tasks of Admin

In the " How to do currency translation..." paper, there is a statement as following:
"The currency conversion business rules tables can also be activated by going through the web
admin parameters where the following parameter is set to u201C1u201D.

However after I login to BPC Admin consol, I notice that Set Application Parameters link not activate under Web Admin Tasks of Admin Consol.
Where should do this? Should I do it under Set AppSet Parameters?

In the non-web Admin Console, you should also be able to accomplish the same thing by going to the application, clicking "Modify application", then "Change application type", then "Modify Application", then choosing the "Currency Conversion" application option.
In general, this is how business rules can be turned on without messing around in the application parameters, and should really be the preferred method unless you have done some kind of customization that an application modification will interfere with.

Setting request parameters ?

I tried the following:
request.setAttribute("myVar", "myValue");
pageContext.forward("/main");
When it loads the main page, my variables are not being set.
I have tried the <jsp:forward> page directive and this works for a simple test example I've used, but not when I try it in my application main page ( which consists of 3 frames). The 3 frames are all JSP pages, so does the time they get loaded affect the request and <jsp:forward> attributes being sent ?
Or can I not just set request parameters?
I'm stumped !

No, thats not the case. getParameter and getAttribute return from different internal collections.
An HttpServletRequest object will have two different HashMap objects (at least, they're probably HashMaps).
One stores the parameters that were passed by the client's request (That's why they're always Strings - the client passes text using the HTTP GET and POST protocols). getParameter returns Strings from here.
The other HashMap maintains objects that you add on the server side to pass between your servlets. You may want to add any type of object, so that's why these aren't required to be Strings.
Think of neville's example (which allows you to use getParameter on the next page) as creating a new request that works as if the client had appended the extra parameters to the query string. You can't add non-String Objects using that method.
If you try your simple example again using getAttribute, you'll probably find that it works.

EDGE settings are fixed and non-modifiable. You can set up a WiFi network by going to SETTINGS>Wi-FI>ON. Then you join a network and enter your password. Full instructions can be found in the iPhone users guide.

I'm trying to install DB2 8.2 on solaris 10.the problem i'm encountering in installation is unable to set MSGMAX and MSGMNB kernel parameters. I tried setting the new replacement parameter process.max-msq-qbytes through projects->Resource Control from the management console.but still uinable to set the parameters.
Can anyone help me in setting the above kernel parameters.
Its not possible to set it thru /etc/system.

I finally had some time to find the actual syntax for tuning process.max-msq-qbytes and process.max-msg-messages. prctl will change those paramaters for an existing process.
As a proof of concept I changed process.max-msg-messages to a 64k. process 2221 is my shell.

...Solaris 10 has different tunables and default values from 8 and 9. It's default tunables should be good for most applications per a given system's hardware. There are some great blog articles, and discussions on opensolaris.org and blogs.sun.com on tuning that explain the intent of tuning and why we shouldn't have to tune.

Using SET GET parameters in ITS

Hi All,
Is it possible to use set get parameters in ITS. We want to set some parameters in a BADI and read the value in ITS Template .
Or is there any other method to do this?

Sure. In your abap program use the following code
* ITS macros
INCLUDE avwrtcxm.
GET PARAMETER ID 'YOUR_PARAMETER' FIELD SAVE_PARAMETER.
field-set u2018~YOUR_PARAMETERu2019 1 SAVE_PARAMETER.
field-transport.
in the template you can now use ~YOUR_PARAMETER.

Problem with SET GET parameters

Hi all,
I am facing a problem using SET and GET parameters.
There is a Z transaction(Dialog program) where some fields of screen are having parameter ID's. That transaction is designed to diaplay/change status of only one inspection lot at a time.
Now I need to call that transaction in a loop using BDC. I mean i need to update the status of multiple inspection lots(one after the other). Before calling the transaction I am using
SET PARAMETER ID 'QLS' FIELD lv_prueflos.
Unfortunately the transaction is only changing the first inspection lot. When I debugged I found that the screen field is changing in PAI. Even though in PBO it shows the next value, when it goes to PAI it is automatically changing to the first value(inspection lot).
Example: Inspection Lots : 4100000234
4100000235
4100000236
Now first time when the call transaction is being made the status of insp lot 4100000234 is changed. For the second time when insp lot 4100000235 is being passed in PBO ican see this. But the moment it enters PAI the screen field changes to 4100000234.
Could you pls help me in solving this issue.

Hi Pradeep,
You can save values in the SAP memory using a parameter ID. These
are user and terminal-session specific, but available to all internal and
external sessions.
SET Parameter copies the corresponding field contents into the SAP
System memory in the PAI processing block.
GET Parameter copies the corresponding field contents from the SAP
memory at the end of the PBO processing block, after data has been
transferred from the program, if the screen field still has its initial value
You can link an input/output field to an area of the SAP memory in the
ABAP Dictionary.
When you use an input/output field that is defined in the ABAP
Dictionary, its parameter ID is displayed in the Dictionary attribute
Parameter ID in the Screen Painter.
Usage
SET PARAMETER ID: CAR FIELD space,
CON FIELD space,
DAY FIELD space.

When creating a rectangle shap, how to manually set dimensions

I am creating a rectangular shape with the tool (U).
How can I manually set the dimensions (height and width).
I know I can see the dimensions with the info button in the right side bar, bug I want to edit those values.
Is this possible?

You can set the dimensions before using the rectangle tool in the
tool options bar (fixed size).
Or you can change the dimensions after, by using the move tool or Edit<Free Transform Path
and entering the dimensions in pixels (px) in the width and height boxes.
