Non rectangular hotspots for image maps

Hi everyone,
I've been stuck with this problem for a while. I'm trying to make an image map of sectors in a circle. I have the four coordinates of each sector. How do I determine if the the user has clicked inside a particular sector. Most of the examples for image maps I've seen are for rectangular hotspots. Is there a PointInRegion() method or anything like that??
Thanks a million for your help!

Found it out myself!!
There is a contains() method in the Polygon class that tests if a given point is contained within a polygon

    Hi guys,
I am missing AREA TOOLS FOR IMAGE MAPS from version 2014.1.1. where can I switch them on please???
I hove got this panel switched on, but tools are gone.

Switch to Design View (click the small triangle next to the Live View button), those options aren't available in the Live View Editor yet.

  • Global change for hotspots on image map

The image underneath my hotspots needed to be changed in
Photoshop. It's on all of the pages, and when the image was
replaced in Dreamweaver, I noticed that all of the hotspots that I
created manually in Dreamweaver were lost. How can I create
hotspots on just one of the pages and have it apply to all of the
pages? (I'm not using templates, by the way.)
I created slices on the image in Image ready, then exported
images and html, but I'm not sure how to incorporate and organize
    everything in Dreamweaver.

  • Non-Rectangular Buttons with images

is it possible to create a non-square "button" in flash cs4
    programmatically using as3?
Using a xml document, i'm trying to be able to retrieve a
.png file with transparency, and have said transparent area's be
    not clickable.
Long story short, I'm creating a map with a bunch of
clickable areas. These areas are non-rectangular and I need them to
not obscure other area's which would be in their rectangle. I need
this to be done programmatically since the area's are going to be
dynamic as is the data attached to them.
fyi: I have a fairly good grasp of OOP, so don't be afraid to
    post up complex instructions.

Now we're cooking with gas! Thank you so much for your
    assistance!
    The only issue left;
is it possible for the Events to penetrate through, so that
if two elements slightly overlap, the transparent part of obj1 will
allow a onclick (and subsequently the onmouseover) event on el2,
preferably dynamically so that I don't have to add event handlers
    between the two.
Is there a simple way or do i need to calculate the overlap
using the x/y coords and width/height of each element, then
    manually dispatch?
here's where I'm at thus far (with this discussion)
Firstly, the class for the movie clip,
    then our frame.

  • Black border around hotspots in Image map?

I have an image map in my HTML file that contains three
circular hotspots. When they're viewed in a browser, each one has a
black border around it after it's clicked on. I've seen other help
threads on the border problem talk about putting 'border:none" in
the IMG tag, but there's no IMG tag..it's an image map and border
is already set to "0". The code is below:
    <map name="satelliteLinks">
    <area shape="circle" coords="94,64,41" href="
    http://gi.leica-geosystems.com/LGISub5x307x0.aspx"

  • Non-rectangular or transparent images

    Hi.
Not using Swing, can I use non-rectangular images for animation purposes ?
Alternatively, can I use rectangular images with a "transparent" color as a background ?
    If so - How ?!
    Thanks.

GIF98a images can have a mask (transparent) color set. Otherwise, set the 'alpha' component of pixels that use your chosen mask color.

  • Cropping non-rectangular image

    Hello,
I need to crop  a slightly non-rectangular, four-sided image (a photo of a picture in a frame) and end up with a rectangular image. I've tried cropping and lassoing but nothing seems to do the job. Most grateful if anyone can tell me how I might do this on PSE.
    Thanks

Plse excuse Dunn question, Michel, but what is ACR?
    Best
    Michael
ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) is the module of PSE which is used to first convert raw images so that they can be read and edited in the Editor.
This module can also be used to open jpeg files:
In the Editor, menu /File/Open As
you select a jpeg picture and in the line'Open As', just under where you enter the file name, you must choose the 3rd option :
    Camera raw...
This opens a new dialog window in which you can do the main edits to your image by adjusting a few sliders.
Of course, raw file will benefit more from being processed in ACR, but it's also interesting for jpegs.
How can editing through ACR be a 'non destructive' process ?
It's because the principle of ACR (also used in Photoshop CS) is to store all editing commands and settings separately from the original picture data which are never changed. In the case of jpegs, the settings are stored in the metadata section of the jpeg file (where the camera name and settings are kept) without changing anything in the way pixels are represented. The 'recipe' is stored, but the pixels stay unchanged. When you straighten and crop, if you click 'Done', the settings are saved. If you want to do some editing or print your file, you click 'Open' and the result of your edits in ACR is opened in the Editor.  If you do changes in the editor, of course, those edits will be 'destructive' (as usual in the Editor)  so that you'll have to save the file with another name to keep the original. If you do no edits in the Editor,  but only print or convert the file to another format, the original picture data is not changed.
In that last case, you don't need to re-open the picture with 'Open As', the Editor will know the picture has to be opened in the ACR module with the usual 'Open'. But it you want to re-open the same picture in another application like Picasa, the Adobe editing data will be ignored and you'll see the original version.

  • Add image map to layer graphic?

There is no allowance for image maps on the Properties menu when a graphic placed in a layer is selected.
I have as US map within a <div> layer for exact placement.  But I want to draw image maps for each state.
    How can I do that?

There is no allowance for image maps on the Properties menu when a graphic placed in a layer is selected.
Whether or not your image is within a layer, a table, a span, or any page container would not affect your ability to add an image map to it.
I have as US map within a <div> layer for exact placement.
It is not necessary to use 'layers' to achieve exact placement, but as stated above, the image's container is immaterial to the use of image maps.  What I suspect is happening is that you are trying to do this on a template controlled child page - is that correct?

  • RH8 image map problem

I created an image map back in RoboHelp 6 and it worked perfectly. When I converted my project recently to RoboHelp 8, the image map pop-ups are not working correctly. I've checked the properties of the image map and they are correct. But the pop-up boxes do not display correctly. I'm going to attached an example of how the same one displays in RH6 and RH8 and a screen shot of my settings.
Can anyone help me with this?

After much trial and error testing around this image map issue, I cannot seem to find a fix for image maps within RoboHelp 8. No matter what I've tried (and it was a lot), nothing seems to fix the image map problem. Even creating a new image map on a new page with totally different info, pop up pages, image, etc. and turning OFF all breadcrumbs - the image map does not display correctly once generated (nor in preview).
I have found a VERY TEDIOUS workaround for this (that I'm not happy about). If I take my original pop-up topic htm pages (9 of them) from my RoboHelp 6 project and the original eHlpDhtm.js file from RH6 and place them in my output Help file from RH8 (overwriting the RH8 with the RH6 files), then the image map works correctly.
The eHlpDhtm.js file has many more scripts in it than just the image map triggers, so I'm not sure what all else I'm affecting when I'm fixing one problem (i.e. not sure how many more problems I'm creating at the same time when fixing one problem.)
It's almost like the "breadcrumbs" feature in RH8 has broken the image maps feature in RH8.
I'm still up for more suggestions as how to fix this if anyone has any ideas.

  • Hotspots for non-rectangular buttons

Does anyone know how to create a button which does not trigger on the image itself as the are always rectangular.  I am trying to create a series of nested hexagonal buttons, when nested the transparent areas of the photoshop or png file is is not visable which is what I want but it the transparent area does trigger the rollover/trigger event.
I would like to know if you can create a hotspot for a button which is not reliant upon the image file but another shape similar to hotspots in Dreamweaver or is there a work round using other Muse CC features?

Brad, Thanks for the reply, I assumed that Muse would not allow this as they have simply ignored some basic requirements such as tables, hotspots, dropdown/radio buttons in forms etc. and have concentrated on gimicks like paralax scrolling, dont get me wrong it looks good but they should have got the foundations build first.
I do appeciate your response however its not really the answer, although I could go out and use Dreamweaver or even write the HTML myself (at a push) the point of Muse according to Adobe is that you dont need to 'write a single line of code'.  From experience this is not true and Muse as a base application is limited creatively.

  • Hi I'm trying to find a simple bit of freeware that I can use to image map for creating hotspots on a website.  Any ideas?

    Hi
I'm wanting to create a pretty complicated image map for a web page so it'll be lot's of polygons.  Does anyone know of a good bit of freeware I can use that will help me work out the coordinates for the image maps?
    Thanks
    Neil

You could do this in any text or html editor.t I imaging you want a click and drag capability when selecting the areas of the image map. Try looking at some of these. https://www.google.com/search?q=image+map+create+apple+mac

  • Unable to Create Image Map Hotspot

I've got a GIF image inserted into a RoboHelp HTML 8 topic and am trying to create multiple image map hotspots on the graphic. I successfully created the first hotspot (a rectangular one). When I try to create the second, the crosshair cursor displays, but when I drag with the mouse, it fails to draw a box outline. When I release the mouse, nothing happens.
This behavior is erratic. Sometimes, if I close and reopen the topic, I can draw a hotspot. Other times, if I complete exit and re-launch RoboHelp, I can draw a hotspot. Is this a bug, or is there something I can do to make it work more effectively?

Do you have many other hotspots in this topic?
Do you have other dynamic HTML in this topic (Related Topics, See Also, drop-down text, etc.)?
Have you been performing a lot of Cut/Paste operations prior to experiencing this issue?
Have you ever hit multiple keys in this topic and caused a RH crash?
RH places numerically identified data in the <HEAD> section for dynamic HTML entities, in addition to the related, numerically matched code that resides in the BODY section. At some point, these numeric matches can get corrupted (the old fat fingers causing a crash trick, for example). The only cure to that is to delete all the HEAD and BODY data, and then start over. Sorry.
    Good luck,

  • Image-map hotspot coordinates as variables ?

I am looking to develop an application that will allow operators to interactively define hotspots (clickable zones) on an image. Once done, this image map will be made available to a Web application, for user interaction (each click will be registered with predefined data that depends on the hotspot clicked). The process is to be repeated for a large number of images – that’s why I need an application, rather than having the operators defining the hotspots through the template/HTML editor.
My question: Is there a way to define variables for the hotspot coordinates, so that these coordinates - e.g. a rectangle’s corners - can be captured by the operators (typically, through mouse-pointer positioning) ?
PS: I am not a DreamWeaver developer – but I am looking for the right development platform for this project …

JavaScript. Probably something you could do with some of jQuery's functions. Preferrably you would simply store the data in a database to avoid file writing permission issues which go against Java's security sandbox model...
