Non replaceable battery

Well, I was all ready to bring my two phones back because I really did not like the fact that the battery was not replaceable, and I just couldn't bring myself to do so. I have bought many Apple products since my first Apple 2 computer, and just couldn't do it after repacking both up. I guess I'm going to just live with the fact I can't swap batteries. Extemely frustrating. I think this is the single biggest mistake for me anyway. The phone is just so beautiful though. I really hope they will update some of the features, and not just release a new version 2 phone. That would really upset me.

I so agree people are making way too much out of it.
Not to mention, the news is reporting it like your
phone will die after you've stuck it on the charger
300 times... which is NOT the case.
What will happen is after 300-400 FULL charges
(meaning the battery has completely died and you have
to charge it ALL the way) the battery will no longer
be able to hold more than 80% of it's life. It
doesn't just "die" all of a sudden... it very slowly
deteriorates to the point where it can't be charged
over 80% of it's capacity anymore, and THAT is what
occurs between 300-400 FULL charges.
Remember... that's FULL charges. If you are charging
every night and it's at 50% when you stick it on the
charger, that's 1/2 a charge. If it's at 20% that's
4/5 a charge.
When everyone falls into the grove on how to get the
best battery life, and when everyone stops being
obsessed with their phone because it's new, I think
everyone will find battery life is fine and the fact
that it has to be sent back to Apple for the battery
to be replaced will become a virtual NON issue... by
the time that would happen, years down the road,
you'd probably want an upgrade anyway. I'm getting
about 2 days between having to stick it on the
charger, and it's STILL not a full charge (anywhere
between 10 and 20% left at that point).
I've NEVER had to replace a cell phone battery.
Well said.
Bottom line is:
1. The battery replacement program is reasonable... $100 for a new battery with a loaner phone.
2. People are trending to buy new phones faster then their need for a new battery. Chances are all these complainers will shell out $600-1000 for the next gen iPhone the day it comes out
3. The battery life is the most superior of any cell phone I have ever seen, the mere fact that people are complaining within a week of its release of potential battery replacement one day is absurd.
4. If your battery dies in 1 year it is under warranty, within 2 years with $69 applecare, it too is under warranty - another reasonable option.

  • Non removable battery lumia 720

    Hey guys
Im from india and new to this forum and looking to buy a lumia 720. The phone is wonderful to look at, has decent specs as per my requirements. The only thing stopping me from buying the phone is the fact that it has a non removable battery. Im getting this phone for a long term use, 3 years atleast. I am worried as to whether the battery will drain soon, if the battery can be changed when it drains out, how tedious the procedure will be and if itll burn a hole in my wallet. I want a phone with decent battery back up and the 2000mAh seems up to that task. Could you also tell me what the average battery backup of the 720 is
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Cheers

    Hey
But is there any system Nokia has for replacing batteries in phones whose battery cannot be removed?
    Thanks
The 720 battery is not user replaceable but it can easily be replaced by any Nokia Care Point. If you want a Lumia with user replaceable battery, you should consider the 820.

  • Zen Sleek non-removable battery!! You're kiddi

infosyncworld.com had this to say in its preview:
"Providing an interface to the functionality of the Zen Sleek is its 2" monochrome, blue backlit LCD screen, whilst connectivity is provided by means of a 3.5 mm stereo earphone jack and USB 2.0. The latter also offers charging of the rechargeable, non-exchangeable Lithium Ion battery of the audio player."
What are Creative playing at? This has seriously made me second think my decision to buy one of these. At least with the Micro you can change the battery when the old one has conked out!
What should I buy people, the Sleek or Micro? (I could fit my music collection on either)

lets just say, after about one year, ur battery dies. ok? the reason there isnt a user replaceable battery is to give it sleekness, making it look so much like the Dell DJ and iPod, but more like the Dell DJ if u look at it carefully. You might want the micro is u wanna save money of buying batteries. when the zen Sleek battery dies, it will cost around $00 US to replace it, plus u gotta ship it to Creative. With the zen micro, it cost $40 for a battery and all u gotta do is order it online from Creative. MUCH MORE CONVIENT eh?

  • Non Ideal Battery for MultisimPower Pro

    Hi,
I have been using the evaluation version of Multisim 12 Educational Edition and found out that it had the Non-Ideal Battery component. But, the evaluation version lacks some of the PIC microcontrollers that I need for My simulation.
I am planning to get the Power Pro edition of Multisim 11 from my uni. but I heard that It doesn't have a non ideal battery, is there any work around to import that part into the power pro version of Multi-Sim. If not, Is there any alternative way to simulate a non-ideal battery?

    Hi,
I have passed on your concern about having this component in the Pro databases. The workaround I can give you is that you can save the Non_Ideal_Battery on a design and then just copy paste it from this design whenever you need it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Non-apple battery?

I have a mid 2007 white 13" Macbook and need to replace its battery (it shows "service battery" in the menu).
The original battery by Apple is hard to find (I am not in US).
My (newbie) question is: is it OK to use a non-apple battery? Any specific brands that are recommended?
    Thanks.

Apple doesn’t make any batteries. They buy them from the same manufacturers that the third party sellers are buying from. The only difference is that Apple has their logo imprinted on the battery.

My iPod 5th generation displays a non-animated battery icon that won't go away. I've had it plugged in to my USB 2.0 port for over two hours. If I reset it, it briefly flashes a battery icon with exclamation point.

  • Macbook Pro (Non-Retina) Battery Life

Just recently purchased a non-retina MacBook Pro, 13" with the upgraded i7 processor.  So far, it's lots of fun, just one small question/concern...
Does the battery life really suck on this one, or is it just mine that possibly needs service?
The estimated remaining battery time keeps fluctuating, which is understandable, which attempting to constantly calculate; however, I score perhaps three hours of life using only web (Safari) and iTunes (transferring songs to/from iPhone, etc.)  I haven't even installed my Adobe CS collection yet, and I'm afraid it'll constantly be glued to the wall adaptor, thus defeating the purpose of an expensive, beautiful laptop.
Anyone believe this to be common, uncommon, or bizarre perhaps?  I've got AppleCare, of course, so worst case scenario, I create a TM backup and send in for inspection/repair

There is an authorized Apple store not far from me, but I've only seen one technician there ever, and they'd most likely send it out for service or something anyways.
Any web browser I have attempted to use (Safari, Firefox, and especially Chrome,) is listed under "Apps Using Significant Energy.." though Firefox and Safari have only stated that when more than one tab is open, doing searches.  Chrome states that upon opening the app- weird.
There is no constant video streaming, only videos on occasion, likely via YouTube; all that's one with iTunes is syncing with the external hard drive that houses the files, backups, and playing music- no iTunes Radio, Podcasts, or of the sort.  Also, iTunes (almost) never shows in the Significant Energy column- only seen it there maybe once.
When using the computer, I see the calculated battery life jump from seven, to five, to three something... which reminds me more of my ancient PowerBook. haha.  There has been nothing done so far other than small, meddling tasks- non-significant sized file downloading, occasional video, and the bulk of it just retooling the iTunes library- still restoring it from scratch
I just want to be certain that there's no significant energy usage hidden here.  This machine has the 2.9ghz i7, with maxed 16gb RAM- would that differ anything from the original spec models that people test and claim to have some solid battery life? (I don't mean the new Retina or Air models)  It seems fine when I unplug it from the wall, but drains quicker than expected.  Once I start drawing and editing, I'd like for this machine to last more than an hour

  • Miix 2 11". Replaceable battery ??????

Does anyone know if the battery is replaceable?
Because I have download the file pdf  "Hardware Maintenance Manual - Lenovo Miix 2 11" and seems that many component are replaceable?
Again: Where I find a Miix 2 11" but with Intel i5 and 8Gb RAM (Italy)?

Try unistalling the old driver, restart, then install the new driver and restart again.

  • No user replaceable battery?

I just can't believe how greedy Apple can be. This is a $600.00 cell phone, and after about a year I have to pack it up, and send it to Apple so they can charge me another $86.00 to replace my battery. I wouldn't mind to much if I could just drop it off at an Apple store, but I really hate having to pack it up wait in line at UPS, then weight days to get it back. Terribly inconvenient for a cell phone. Why not just bite the bullet, and make it user replaceable? to me this is pure corporate GREED!

as long as they use their "corporate greed" to produce more great products like the iPhone, I'm okay with that.
in all seriousness, i'd bet that the process to update the batteries will become easier with time. we demand to know a process now. of course, the only one that apple is ready for is a shipment back to apple. in about 6 months, i bet apple stores will be able to take care of this. apple already knows that people can't live without a phone for a day.

  • Video Ipod Errors - Exclamation/Non-animated Battery Icon Loop

i have a problem with my video ipod and have followed every single suggestion and tutorial on the apple web site.....
when i reset, it gives the sad ipod face with exclamation point and the message:
    "www.apple.com/support/ipod" and lights up...
then turns light off and goes to battery message without any animaton... then just about every 2 minutes or so it goes back to the exclamation point and the message:
    "www.apple.com/support/ipod" and lights up...
    and repeats..
    been charging for hours...
can't get it into disk mode either...
    computer doesn't recognize...

Mine is doing a similar item but it will work but just gets a battery logo with a yield and a sign like this inside the yeild I cannot get it to sync. I don't think it is the hard drive it appears to be more software related then hardware related anyone have any solutions.

  • T420s and non-use battery dissipation

The battery dissipation of my T420s, when not in use, is more than what I would have expected.  If the machine is fully charged (100% battery) when I put it in sleep mode, within a day (12-24 hours) the battery reports as low as 10% charge.  If the machine is fully charged and completely powered off then in that same timeframe the battery will report as low as 80%.
This is my first laptop so maybe this sort of drain when powered down/in sleep is to be expected, but it seems a bit high to me.  What are other owners experiencing?  Thanks.

  • BEWARE - Non-compatible battery chargers are still on store shelves!!!!

I just bought a charger called a "Music Gear" Model MP1131 made by ESI Cases and Accessories (based in NYC) at a Rite Aid store. It does NOT work with the 4G nano. Unfortnately I think I just laundered the sales slip in my trouser pocker... the store probably won't give me a refund, but I intend to read them the riot act for stocking a product that is not up to date and does not live up to the claims on the packaging. That amounts to false advertising!
ithas a lifetime warranty (I think) you can get it replaced (assuming they offer a compatible one now??) by sending it to an address in NY along with $6 shipping. their phone number is 212-883-8838 - anybody here live in NYC? nt sure what hours it is open and I don't wnat to waste a long distance call on a machine.

does not live up to the claims on the packaging
So it states on the packaging that it charges the 4G Nano?

  • Service Battery Message - Apple Care?

I am not sure my battery is officially bad now.
I occasionally get the "Service Battery" warning message in the Power menu. In those cases iStat Pro shows 74% capacity. I have 373 charge cycles. Is there anything I can do to make this go away? I tried SMC reset and conditioning the battery, following Apple's instructions. I ran it down to 0, then let it rest for 5 hours, then charged again.
Once it's fully charged, iStat Pro shows 84% capacity. I don't know why capacity indicators would fluctuate that much, it seems weird.
I have two questions - one, is this battery bad? And, two, would it be replaced under warranty.
This is a MacBook Pro 17 unibody early 2009 with the non-replaceable battery. I have read here the battery is supposed to last 1000 charge cycles. I have also read that the battery is excluded from the 3 year AppleCare warranty. If I only have 1 year on the battery, then I would be well outside that already, machine is 1 1/2 years old.

It seems likely that the battery is not performing as well as it ought. However, The standard Apple claim is that you should reach 1000 charge cycles while still retaining at least 80% of original battery capacity. I interpret this as meaning that Apple are unlikely to entertain a claim unless the capacity is clearly below 80% with less than 1000 cycles completed.
The issue of warranty is in some ways complex. However there is a general principle which Apple seems to have encompassed that any significant shortfall in performance compared with their public claims is possibly compensable. I think this is partly to try to keep customers happy so that Apple's market share is not adversely affected by service issues.
Regarding calibration (which you have done): this is I understand a way of establishing the original capacity of the battery more accurately so that condition can be more reliably assessed later. There are various theories about how often this needs to be done. I think if you were concerned about your battery's condition I would be inclined to do a recalibration before approaching Apple. This will help you get a reliable measure of current condition.
iStat Pro & System Profiler probably use somewhat different algorithms for their calculations. This could easily explain the inconsistencies. When both agree to the extent that the battery is less than satisfactory a case for free replacement will be stronger.
