Not able ssh as root
Hi,
I have installed solaris 10 and if I tried to ssh via putty as root login , it doesnot get in.
any idea would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi
Login into to your sever using telnet and then open the file +/etc/sshd/ssh_config+.
In this file search Permit RootLogins and replace No with Yes.
Restart ssh service or inetd
svcadm restart ssh
or
svcadm restart inetd
thanks

Telnet/SSH as root not working
I have freshly installed Solaris10 U5 through network installation method.
After installation is over, i am not able to login as "root" over the network through Telnet/SSH
What file we need to edit to disable this rule ?Telnet is disabled by default.
So is root login via SSH.
To enable root login, edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config and change the line:
PermitRootLogin no
to
PermitRootLogin yes
Then restart sshd.
if you really want to enable telnet, use the svcadmin command. -

Did you issue the command
ASA(config)# crypto key generate rsa modulus 2048
So that you can use SSH.
EDIT: I would suggest narrowing down the source address from where you can connect to the ASA from "outside" if possible.

Not able to enable SSH user equivalency for RAC on RHEL 4
Hi All,
I am trying to install oracle RAC 11g on RHEL4 (on VMware), I am using below document for reference.
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR1RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVMware.php
Every thing went fine till "SSH user equivalency", but I am not able to SSH and SCP between servers without entering passwords.
I have tried removing .ssh folder & recreating pub file twice but it did not helped.
am i missing something?
Please advice.
Thanks,
Abhay.Configure SSH on each node in the cluster. Log in as the "oracle" user and perform the following tasks on each node.
su - oracle
mkdir ~/.ssh
chmod 700 ~/.ssh
/usr/bin/ssh-keygen -t rsa # Accept the default settings.
The RSA public key is written to the ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub file and the private key to the ~/.ssh/id_rsa file.
Log in as the "*oracle*" user on RAC1, generate an "authorized_keys" file on RAC1 and copy it to RAC2 using the following commands.
su - oracle
cd ~/.ssh
cat id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
scp authorized_keys rac2:/home/oracle/.ssh/
Next, log in as the "oracle" user on RAC2 and perform the following commands.
su - oracle
cd ~/.ssh
cat id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
scp authorized_keys rac1:/home/oracle/.ssh/
The "authorized_keys" file on both servers now contains the public keys generated on all RAC nodes.
To enable SSH user equivalency on the cluster member nodes issue the following commands on each node.
ssh rac1 date
ssh rac2 date
ssh rac1.localdomain date
ssh rac2.localdomain date
exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent $SHELL
/usr/bin/ssh-add
You should now be able to SSH and SCP between servers without entering passwords.
hope, this may helps you.
enjoy.

From what I understand, you need to copy the valid certificate from our server to the other computer. Perhaps the following example will be useful:

What is the user id used for login ? Looks like it is neither ec2-user nor root in this case.
Anybody helping, I would deeply appreciate. It is ridiculous to get billed when not able to use the software - not even able to login.Use “amsadmin” user to login to AMS EC2 instance as root user has been disabled.
If you are logging in for the first time using SSH, use Putty to set the password for the amsadmin user as you will not be able to login using WinSCP.
Launch Putty to log into the instance.
In the Host Name (or IP address) box, enter the Public DNS of the instance you launched.
In the Category pane on the left, choose Connection>SSH>Auth.
Browse to locate the private key for authentication and click Open. See Using key pairs to connect to an instance securely, to understand how to use PuTTYgen application to convert the .pem file to a .ppk file.
Log in as amsadmin user.
Enter a valid password and confirm the new password.
Note: For subsequent logins, you can either use Putty or WinSCP -
Not able to write data in ADS on 636 port
Hi-
A real problem. I have configured my NWO4S UME to access LDAP using SSL, i have performed the following steps:
1)Generated a certificate for my LDAP with the FQDN e.g
xyz.testdomain.com
2)published the certifcate on the domain controller, i hope my AD will pick-up the certificate from here.
3)used the ldp tool and it connected on the 636 port. Alos, using ldifde command i was able to import the users into LDAP from 636 port.
4)Now the SAP doc says, just import the root certficate of the ADS into the trusedstore of the UME. I had a probelm here, my certficate was in .cer format, but engine was accepting the cerificate into .crt or .cert format. So changed the format by using "copy to file" and then changed the format and imported into mu ume.
5)restared the engine, but i am not able to view the contents of the LDAP eventhough the engine comes up. To add to this, on 389 port it works. I am really wondering whats wrong.
I have specified the server name, port, admin user, password, vendor and enable ssl paramaters in the configtool
On 636 port, when i try to "create user" i get some LDAP_53 error. I says some persistence problem. Please let me know what i need to do.
Your knowledge will be gr8ly appreciated.
Regards
Subramanya

Thanks for the help.
I have one doubt
I am already waiting 30 seconds , can the peer application be so slow. ???It's either slow, or there is a bug on the client side.
Btw. Why wait 30 seconds? Don't you want optimal performance?
