Not able to switch to virtual terminals

I installed gnome 2.20 from teting repos some time back, It also upgraded Xorg from testing.
Which broke X on my system, so I removed everything and installed everything(xorg + gnome + kde) from extra again. But after that I am not able to switch to another virtual consoles i.e ctrl+alt+F1..F8 sequence is not switching terminals.
pressing ctrl + alt + F1 is sending ";7P"
[root@L3-LR893 ~]# ;7P;7P;7P;7P;7P
and ctrl + alt + F2 is generating ";7Q"
Now I have upgraded to gnome 2.20, but the problem exist.
Has anybdy faced this problem before ?
Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem, and I have no idea how to fix it. If anyone has any ideas, please post them.
EDIT: Except I have not had to reinstall X, it just stopped working one day (I guess it was something that pacman automatically upgraded).

I had switches off my iPhone 5 at around 20 percent battery next morning I was not able to switch it on. I tried to get it charged but it didn't showed any sign of charging even when plugged in for about 2 hours. I had to take it to apple care centre but they refused to repair it after confirming the problem with the device as it was out of warranty and asked me to get it replaced for INR 22500. I got it repaired outside but after that also if I switch it off in the same situation it again happens and I have to take it for repair it has happened 3 times after that. Is it a inherent problem in iPhone that it uses battery even when switched off and if in that case battery drain out then refuse to get charged because this is the scenario i have experienced every time?

Apple told you it was unrepairable.... You had it serviced by an unauthorized party. It's now no longer eligible for out of warranty replacement by Apple.
There's really nothing else we can say about it. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new one.

MD513AE/A iPad Wi-Fi-16GB White - Model A 1458
I have purchase this from Dubai, UAE, some 2 years back.
I am NOT able to switch it on; when connected to power supply, the battery icon comes in but no signs of charging.
After some times the ‘Apple’ icon comes in. Tried simultaneous operation of Sleep and Power buttons, but of no use.
Sometimes a picture of cable and ITunes comes in; but not able to connect to
P C as there is no battery charge.

• Menu Bar Icons no longer showing, not able to switch on in control panel

I had sleep problems with my MBP (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2449728&tstart=0) and as such I did a combo update as this could possibly solve it.
However, now all the control panel icons in the menu bar have gone (like the clock, network, airport, etc) and I am not able to switch them on in the relevant control panels. If I hit the tick box 'show in menu bar' of any control panel it ticks it for a split second and immediately removes the tick.
I am able to turn it on via /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/, however after a restart all is back to previous state, no icons in menu bar.
I redid the combo update > no success.
any ideas?

I did that and all is well in the other account.
in a moment of inspiration, I reinstalled the
Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
from a backup and this solved the Menu Bar issue.
Thanks for thinking with me.

No Such Thing......
Look on the back for the number.......
Again, No Such Thing as a 3rd generation 8GB model....
I bought one in August of 2010 directly from Apple.
The next month they came out with the 4th generation model.
So, they never made a 3rd generation 8GB model.
Those numbers are directly from Apple and so is that document.
If you think they are mistaken, then give them a call as everyone else here is aware that there is no 2nd generation 8GB iPod Touch model....
Here is the info posted on the above Apple document.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
Again, Sorry...........

Hi hemanth kumar gowda,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try these steps first if your iPhone is not powering on:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Best,

• Modem - Not able to switch to command mode.

Hi,
I have a small Java application which dials a host application, exchanges data and hangs up. The only way I've been able to hang up so far is to do serialPort.close(). I would like to hang up instead using the "ATH0" command. My problem is that once I am connected, I cannot switch back to command mode on the modem. I tried sending the escape characters "+++" through the output stream, but these just get relayed through to the host.
Is there anything special that needs to be done from a Java program to switch the modem back to command mode? The "+++" escape command works fine from hyperterminal.

The "+++" escape command works fine from
hyperterminal. Are you sending the modem commands as byte characters?
If not, see if this works:
OutputStream os = serialPort.getOutputStream();
dos = new DataOutputStream(os);
//Hang up the modem
dos.writeBytes("ATH0");
//End the command with a carriage return character

• JDev 11g Pr3 Not able to switch schema on database navigator

I have a schema called FACETSEDI that is used to access a schema named FACETS.
When I connect to the DB using the FACETSEDI login, I can run queries against the FACETS tables, but I can't browse them, since the navigator is pointing at the FACETSEDI schema.
Is there some custom JDBC URL I can use to cause the connection to force a switch on the session (simulate a ALTER SESSION SET current_schema = facets) ?

Absolutely:
1. Start JDeveloper
2. Go to the database navigator
3. Create a connection to the database
username: facetsedi
password: mypassword
driver: thin
hostname: facets
SID: facets1
4. Connect to the database
5. Expand the Tables node - and all I see are tables in the FACETSEDI schema
What I need is to be able to see the tables in the FACETS schema.
Can't find a way to specify this with a custom JDBC setting (like with SQL server I could specify a parameter in the URL to connect to the correct database schema).
There used to be a "show all schemas" setting on the IDE that let you pick which schema you wanted to see.

• Not able to switch the theme in Apex

Hi,
I want to switch the theme in my apex application.
I had created a new theme from the apex repository but when i am trying to switch it is giving me error from some templates type.
Can anybody help me to fix this issue.
Thanks
Saurabh

This application contains a number of custom report templates. The Template Class property for each of these is set to a class that does not exist in the target theme 1. Simple Red (i.e. probably one of the "Custom 1-8" classes). As a result of this, APEX is unable to determine which of the templates in the target theme correspond to those in use in the current theme.
Given the apparent number of customised templates used in this app, your recommended course would be to copy the custom templates into the target theme before trying to switch, otherwise it appears you will end up—at least initially—with a seriously broken application.
1. Go to Shared Components > Templates.
2. Click Create >.
3. Click Report.
4. Select As a Copy of an Existing Template.
5. Copy From Application *300 Industry Flow Repository*.
6. Copy From Theme *101. Application Theme*; Copy To Theme *1. Simple Red*.
7. Select Yes in the Copy? column for each template reporting a Theme Compatibility error.
8. Click Copy Report Templates.
Repeat for any other template types where custom templates are reporting a Theme Compatibility error.
Now when switching themes, the Theme Compatibility Report should report warnings rather than errors, and present a list of custom templates that match the template class.
Note that if these custom templates also require custom CSS, then any theme 1. Simple Red page templates will have to be modified to reference the requisite style sheets.
