Not enough Time to Sync

Hi, I have about 2000 songs to upload to my 60G and by the time I reach around 700 (4/5 hours), the Ipod stops as the batteries are low. It is connected via the USB but seems it does not charge. (Ipod is brand new)
Do I have to set manually 600 songs, they plug a charger and then do another 600 songs and so on ?

Thanks. I will check on another computer see the results as indeed my computer is not brand new !
Thanks for the warm welcome and hope I will be able to help as well although at the moment it is me who need more help!

  • Not Enough Space to Sync My Photos After Updating to 4.3

With iOS 4.2, I was able to sync my entire Aperture photo library to my iPad and still had about 3GB to spare on it. It's a 32GB iPad. If I recall correctly, the photos took up about 6GB on it. After updating to 4.3 today, iTunes is telling me that it can not sync my photos to it because there is not enough space.
How can this be? I had been syncing the entire library before with 4.2. OK, maybe Apple is optimizing the photos differently for 4.3 and they need more space, I don't know. I went ahead and cleared out all my video I had synced there along with some other stuff and freed up over 20GB of space which is available. Yet iTunes is still saying there's not enough space. How can this be? There was space with iOS 4.2, but not with 4.3. With 4.2 I had a few GB to spare even with my entire photo library synced. Now I freed up over 20GB and it's telling me it can not sync my photos.
So now I am going to try to selectively sync photos to my iPad instead of choosing the option to sync them all. I still don't understand why I was able to sync them all under 4.2, but not 4.3.

OK, I got it to work. Here is what I did.
First it seems that iTunes is over-estimating the size of the photo library before it re-optimizes it. I have 17k of photos that I sync. It was reporting it would need in excess of 30GB of space to sync it (actually it only reports that there's not enough space, it doesn't give you actual numbers, but I was able to calculate them).
So I cleared off all my videos from my iPad and whatever photos iTunes did sync to it and thus I had just over 20 GB free. Still wasn't enough space to sync my photos iTunes would report.
I know previously that my photos fit on my iPad under iOS 4.2 and even if Apple has changed the optimization process resulting in larger image files, I can't believe they would be 5x larger. So I decided to sync just a fraction of my photos. I synced about a third of my photos. iTunes reported that it would be using 10.5 GB of space for those photos. But once it optimized them and synced them to my iPad, it was less than 2GB of space. So I knew I would be able to fit them all, it is just that iTunes is over-estimating the size.
After a third of my photos were already synced to my iPad, now iTunes was reporting it would need 16.5GB for my entire library. I synced it.
In the end, I was able to sync my entire photo library back to my iPad and the resulting space used for it is 5.8 GB, not over 30GB as iTunes was estimating originally.
So if anyone else is having this issue, try clearing out some space on your iPad, and then syncing only a fraction of your library (a third or half) after that, then try syncing your entire library again. Once you do, you can put back media that you cleared out to make space.
    Cheers,
    Louis

  • Not enough memory to sync?

When I try to sync, I get a message that my Ipad "cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 15.21 GB required)."  But I don't think I am trying to download that much.  What to do?

When you connect the iPad to your computer, it will show up in iTunes in the left-hand list. Cilck on it there and you get the sync window. At the bottom, of the window is a bar that shows how much storage space is available on the iPad. If you're adding pictures, videos or apps, there may be more than the iPad can hold. Go thru the various tabs and see what's being added.

  • How do I restore error message when there's not enough room to sync?

By default, iTunes displays an error message when there is not enough room on the iPod to store all the files that are scheduled for synchronization.
This message also has a checkbox for "Do not remind me again" (or something to that effect). The other day, I stupidly checked this box, and now I don't know how to restore the default setting (i.e., to display the error message). Instead, iTunes just silently does nothing -- with no diagnostic -- if it finds that there's not enough room on my iPod to complete a sync.
    Any ideas?

Right click on your iPod in iTunes and select the Reset Warning option.

  • IPad saying not enough memory when syncing photos from iPhoto

I have been trying to sync my iPad for the past two weeks.  It is an iPad with Retina Display, 3rd Gen, 64gb.  I finally gave up and just downloaded all of my apps and songs from icloud, but I want to be able to sync it to my computer.  It keeps telling me that the iPad does not contain enought memory.  I do not know how this is seeing as how it says that I have over 40 gb free.  Today I was able to get it to sync, and then I realized I did not have my photos from iPhoto checked.  I checked it to sync photos from iPhoto and only selected one album with 223 pictures in it.  When I did that, it gave me the message that I could not sync it because I did not have enough memory.  How could I not have enough memory when it says that I have 40gb of space free and I am only trying to sync 223 photos?  Please help.  I will try to update this post if anything improves.
I have already restored the iPad once, and that clearly did not do anything.  haha.

Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Not enough rights for syncing iPhone

After update to iTunes 9.1.1 I cannot sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.3).
Message: You don't have enough rights for this action

check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).

  • Too much Data, not enough Time.

Alright, So I have a problem...Guess thats why I am here.
I have a bulk of information after digitizing a few days shoot, the problem is, Its takes so long to transfer the information in HD format and I have multiple transfers I would like set up, however the computer seems to crash when multiple transfers going. Also sometimes I need to set up transfers where the original file needs to be in 2-3 locations. Causing a time issue.
So what I am looking for, is something along the lines that will allow me to line up a bunch of transfers individually, that can be done while I am not at the office.
    any suggestions?

In my experience, rsync [http://rsync.samba.org> is by far the best utility for pushing data around quickly. It has a learning curve if you're not too familiar with shell commands, but is well worth the effort to learn.
Forgot to mention, if you are running 10.4 or later, rsync already comes bundled with your os.

Thanks for the Time Machine Troubleshooting link. Apparently things have changed since 10.7.0. Backups.backupdb doesn’t exist. Path now is: Time Capsule/Data/Daru’s iMac.sparsebundle. So I did Terminal (I usually avoid Terminal) using the instruction in B6. It does not appear to be working. It went through looking for backup, preparing backup, and is now stopping backup, and the TMBackup has disappeared from the sidebar.
Well, just now Time Machine progressed to preparing backup again; the Tiime Machine Backups appeared in sidebar, and with it Backups.backupdb/Daru’s iMac/2012-04-21-112939.inProgress. So it does exist... I’ll let it run, see what happens... But that is a strange date. Today is 28.
I’ll let you know the outcome.
Oops. Just ended! Real time report: “Backup too large for disk...“ So it is not recognizing the old backup. I’ll look at those instructions again, see if I can do the Terminal thing with the backup running. I doubt I can damage anything except the existing baackup which I'll lose anywy if I can’t achieve recognition.

  • Not enough space to sync music, trying to update software?

    iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1.
I am trying to update the music on it for the first time in around a year, without updating the software.
The music selected is less than the free space available, but it is saying I need an aditional 8gb of space.
Is it trying to update the sorftware as well without being promted by me? How can I make sure it doesn't do that?
What I was hoping to be a quick update to my playlists has turned into a bit of a nightmare...

Solved my de-selecting my music and apps.
    Syncing without these.
Reselecting music and apps, and syncing again.
No idea how this worked, but glad to have my music back.

  • Safari Bookmarks problem: Too many subfolders, not enough time!

    Hi people,
My bookmarks were imported from IE. I have many main folders with many subfolders in each: thus I have always had my bookmarked information very organized and I know where to find anything, by category.
However now I'm using Safari on my new MacBook. When I want to add a new bookmark, I click the Bookmarks drop-down menu. I click "Add Bookmark..." A box displays that allows me to enter two things: the name of the bookmark, and the folder I want to enter it into. Then, clicking on the arrows next to the folder list, hundreds of folders come up in a huge fast-scrolling stream. Not main folders that I can see at a glance, but ALL of my folders, at once! This is a mess. Finding my main folders takes scrutiny and fiddling, and when I'm trying to work this is a huge distraction.
It's a visual organization problem: there seems to be no way to CHOOSE which folders I want to display. Safari simply displays ALL of my folders AND subfolders at once. To sort my new bookmark I must scroll through every single folder, (the scroll-speed makes this difficult, and the size of the icons and the tab-indents require leaning and squinting.) Alternatively I can save it in the bookmark bar, then open the bookmark window, then move the new bookmark elsewhere, step by step by step. This is tedious and distracting.
So can somebody please help me learn to do the following?
I want to find a way to display only the main category folders in the Add bookmark dropdown menu. I can choose from there which subfolders I want to open, and I don't want every single folder to show. Is there a way to do this??
If not, is there at least a way to change the color, text, or image of the main folders so that I can locate them easily within the huge list??
If I can not organize my bookmarks the way I need them using Safari as my main browser becomes an ordeal. I was VERY happy to switch from IE, but this is very discouraging. To continue using it I would have to come up with a completely new organiztional system and reorganize my nearly 3000 bookmarks.
Ok, thanks in advance to whoever can answer this. You're a lifesaver!
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4)   still waiting for arrival

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Rather than using the Bookmarks drop-down menu, perhaps using the Bookmarks Manager might be an easier approach. To access the Bookmarks Manager, click the "book icon" on the left of the Bookmarks Bar (if you haven't done so, the Bookmarks Bar is enabled in View Menu>Show Bookmarks Bar, or Apple Key/Shift/B).
When you click on the book icon (or Apple Key/Option/B), a back screen appears showing your various Bookmark collections and History on the left, and the detail inside each collection on the right (clicking on a collection reveals its contents). You can drag the current URL from the Address window down into the folder, which is a faster way to navigate through the Bookmarks. There, you can also create folders etc.
Go to the Safari Help menu>Safari Help or Apple Key/Shift/? and type Bookmarks. Additional information is provided about how to manage your bookmarks.
Lastly, 3rd party software exists as an alternative to Safari's Bookmarks. One popular one is URL Manager Pro. Personally, I find Safari's manager sufficient, however, this is something you may want to consider.

  • Host Adapter DOCUMENT_WRITE_PREPROCESS Event, not enough time

    Dear all
I want to do some stuff before the document saves.
I use the Host Adapter with Illustrator
    When I register a handler:
    AIEventAdapter.getInstance().addEventListener(AIEvent.DOCUMENT_WRITE_PREPROCESS,handler);
the function gets called when saving, but the document is saved before my actions are finished. Can I get Ilustrator to wait till my function has finished?
In my case I want to write some XMP data right before the document is saved. Is this impossible? What the point of this Event  if cannot finish your actions before the actual writing of the document is done?
    regards

    Or to put it different:
How can I do some action before the actual saving of the document is done. How can I update the XMP data before the data is saved?
How can I make the document saving operation wait for my code to finish?
One hack could be just call the document.save() or document.saveAs() again. But when the user choose some specialised options when he saves a pdf, I don't know this options and will write a pdf with default settings.
    thanks

  • Not giving enough time to update payment method

i was emailed on thursday about my card not being able to be charged. i've been waiting for my new card to come in the mail. i checked on friday, and my order was still open. checked on sunday, and it was all cancelled. i'm aware that an item in the order was due to be released today, but 2 business days of notice is not enough time. had the order stayed open yesterday, i would have been able to fix the problem. already emailed support, and received generic responses. all i wanted was the order reinstated. i can even see the items in the order still, alongside items that have already been sent. i had a sale/promo on those items that i will now no longer be able to get if i were to simply reorder the items. which i won't even bother doing now.

    Hello dragonborn1227,
As someone who makes the majority of her purchases online, I’m sorry to hear that your order cancelled without much forewarning. While this can happen if our systems aren’t able to verify your payment method provided on the order, we should notify you via email and ask that your payment method be updated as soon as possible in hopes of avoiding unnecessary cancellation. This is because a valid payment method must be attached to the purchase in order to secure it.
While we certainly want to consider solutions that make sense for both parties involved, we are not able to accommodate all requests made. Having said that, please know an order cannot be reinstated once cancelled, nor can we honor a sales price for a promotion that has since concluded. I truly apologize for any frustration this may cause.
    Respectfully,
