Not Starting Unnecessary Filesystem Processes

Hi.
When I check for processes (using 'ps') I notice that I have a number of extraneous and unnecessary filesystem processes running:
11 ? 00:00:00 jfsIO
12 ? 00:00:00 jfsCommit
13 ? 00:00:00 jfsSync
14 ? 00:00:00 xfslogd/0
15 ? 00:00:00 xfsdatad/0
16 ? 00:00:00 xfsbufd
My system only uses the Reiser filesystem. I have no references to these other journalling filesystems in fstab.
Note: I recall that I had the xfsprogs and jfsutils packages installed on the system when I originally installed Arch Linux, but I removed them during a general cleanup of unused software and data.
I know that support for these filesystems is compiled into this kernel.
What can I do to prevent these processes from being started in the first place? Where are these processes being started in the first place (I see some things relating to loading filesystems in rc.sysinit, but can't see anything specific to these filesystems there)?

If I´m not wrong, those processes are started by the kernel itself, so some ways to get rid of them are:
1) Add instructions in rc.local to kill them.
2) Compile a custom kernel, without support for XFS and JFS (maybe compiling xfs and jfs as modules could do the job)

Workflow could not start in HCM process and Forms

It would be really helpful if you can suggest possible solution regarding case management case in HCM forms and process.
I have set up a simple custom HCM process and Form regarding Infotype 2 updation. I have checked the process and form consistency and it seems fine. I have searched few SAP notes such as 1384961 which talks about same error but it is implemented in our system (EA-HR 604 , Patch 27, )

Not sure of the details of the the resolution, maybe Ragavendran Kanagaraj can throw more light.
Just some high level checks (if not done already):
Check event linkage errors in SWEQADM if anything is related to your WF
Check in SWEL if it's showing any more details (not sure if it will)
Any warnings in syntax check of WF template (PFTC) or WF definition (SWDD)
Any error sin binding

11.1.2 opmn_EPM_epmsystem1 service will not start after server move

Moved our 11.1.2 Windows 2008 SP2 (not R2) 64 bit machines from one domain to the other (test to prod) and reconfigured the repositories to the prod SQL server (2005). Configuration is all green yet the EPM_epmsystem1 will not go to started. It sticks at Starting and after some type of time out stops.
We run as administrator thinking that would be the problem but to no avail. We tried the delivered script but to no avail either.
In the E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\OPMN\opmn directory the opmn.log shows only this:

[BO XI 3.1] BO Designer not starting after installing SP5

Hello All!
I installed SP5 on top of BO XI 3.1 SP3 (Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit) on server. There is an issue that Designer is not starting. The process designer.exe shows up in "Task manager" for 1-2 second and disappear. No entries in Event Viewer and in BO logs. I also installed SP5 on client desktop machine and the same happens.
Do you have any tips/advices? Thanks for that!

we are not aware of such type of problem and it is most likely something peculiar to the configuration or architecture of your deployment.
I would analyze trace logs from Designer and from Process Monitor ( [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645] )
My advice is to open a support message because is a complicated investigation that probably will need some remote support as well

Photoshop does not start unless I reboot

I have been having this problem since yesterday. Photoshop does not start after I use the computer for a while. I opened Windows Task manager to see if any processes start at all, even though the application does not start. Two processes (1) AdobeIPCBroker and (2) Photoshop.exe process start, but photoshop application does not open , not does it show up in the applications. What may be going wrong?

Also, you realize everything you are installing and doing only remains in memory. Why are you installing all these packages? Are you going to repeat this installation and user creation at every reboot?
EDIT: something else is wrong too - but until you fix the above, it will be hard to know if it is a separate cause, or an indirect effect. /run/user/0 should not be relevant, but /run/user/1000 should be used. I suspect your method of starting X is logging out of the 'su'ed user and is dropping back to the root login that it is under. You'll likely need to change tty's to log in as your user - on a normal system you could log out of the root session and back in as your user - but on the iso I think autologin for root is set on tty1. Of course you could disable this too.

It is probably because the software is too old to install/use on your new machine. Look at the files on the disk and see if there are any there that you might try to use to initiate installation.

Brand new mac 10.7.2 does often not start

hey...i have been calling the support for ages. i have been to an appleshop and they frirst replaced a hard drive cable, then the hard drive by itself. i startet the laptop ones and it seemed to work all. a few days later i startet the laptop again(today) and just like it was before the laptop did not start really. the process stopt at a grey screen with the time-waiting-thing. so i shut it down. then i startet again and then it worked.
it is just brand new and i dn´t want to be borderd with a mac full of these annyoing problems. sometimes it starts. sometimes not. sometimes not at all (after 10 trys for ages) sometimes after just a few trys.
before i called the support and all that the laptop was worse and stoped at the point where i have to type the password in - enter- and went always straight back to that password screen: a loop.
before that i made all the updates.
now i have the new hard drive i put all my things (just a few app and two pics extra= in total 60gb) with backup back(last week). and today i started the laptop (twice) and redone the volums by verify the disk permissions and all that stuff there.... . so now i am doing the updates.
i guess it will just go on with : laptop runs / does not run/...
someone knows why????
(i have some adobe apps and final cut pro an older version (installed with rosetta) and i think something like parrallels and some adobe apps for windows...)

by the way, the batterie they reseted but it is never that strong like it is recommended... i am really annoyed with that super expensice thing and all the truble it just makes . i can never trust it and work with it. i am thinking about giving it back....
and also it worked like two months of very little using...just for some internet surfing and installing some apps.

i did that...it is just like before. the hard drive is brand new! thats why i needed to do the updates. the box and everything is in germany, while i am in spain. so thats all complicated. i am talking to the support tomorrow.... and ask if i can give it back and how... i am sick of that. hours and hours passing by

Could not start SDM Server - another Server may be running already

I have some problems with SDM after upgrade to SP16.
Right now i can't neither start it, nor change password..
it has an error but i don't understand it, because i have only one instance and the server is stopped.
I'm enclosing the error, please, if you have some ideas let me know.

None of the prerequisits of the note exists on my system.

Server is on red color. I had reseted all tha instance, nobody use it, any applications.

Anyway, in order to get the solution, i started with the steps described on the note, but i had a problem with the StopServer.bat

When i run it, i got another message (i though a similar one):

RFS Process is not starting up

I have a cascaded setup at our site and due to poor bandwidth , my Far DR is always lag in archive sync,However my Near DR remains always in Sync with my Primary.
Today i applied the incremental backup on Far DR ,and put it in the recovery mode but the RFS process is not starting up.

Thanks jschaer2000: after starting it once in safe mode, I closed Mozilla and tried several restarts in normal mode. So far, all worked:-)

Still the automatic update process bothers me: it took me several days to discover the reason to the malfunction, since when I removed the problematic version from Add and Remove Programs, I didn't pay attention at first that it was another version, not v26 which I installed from my folder.
In addition, I like to save the installation files before I run new programs and if I didn't have v26 exe file, I couldn't have operated Mozilla at all. Not that it was fun to remove and install again each time v27 didn't react, but it was better than nothing, I still prefer Mozilla over its competition.

You cannot install the apps on the car.
The cars head unit is merely acting as an interface to the apps on the device.
If you want to use those apps in the car, plug the device in and leave it plugged in.

Integration Process does not start

My scenario is this. From ECC we send Idocs to PI. We have an integration process to receive the idocs because only max 9999 are passed in the port.
We run just around 11000 CREMAS idocs now.
The problem is that the integration process does not start on our QA environment while it does start on DEV environment.
I've run many checks on both environments and they all look the same.
To name a few:
* Cache are all green and up-to-date.
* I checked the WF models which are behind the Integration Process and they are the same.
* Event correlation is correct in both environments
* When i test the idocs are correctly sent from ECC to PI.
However on DEV I see in transaction SXMB_MONI_BPE i see that the integration process is triggered and started. It waits 10 minutes and collects any messages that come in, and then bundles these and sends them on to the receiver.
On QA i do not see the Integration Process being started. Only records i see in SXMB_MONI_BPE are three work items, 2 completed, 1 ready, all 3 are called waiting for event.
I'm probably missing some configuration somewhere but what could it be?

Thx. I checked it already and it works fine.
Meanwhile i did do some changes and some retests and now i saw somewhere that all my tests were creating more steps in an already started integration process, that was still waiting.
I now cleared some old workitems and started afresh.
What i see now is:
1) the BPM process start correctly
2) it receives 1 or 2 or 3 or n messages
3) it then waits for the deadline to finish, i.e. it should run for 10 minutes and then proceed to the next step which is sending the collected idocs to receiver.
On DEV the deadline works fine. On QA it doesn't.
IN SWU3 i have done the customizing and it shows green, so that part is OK.
Still the deadline is passed and it doesn't have the desired effect on mu BPM process (workflow).
Are there any other checks i can do to see if the deadline mechanism is properly working?
Is there a maybe a manual step i can do to trigger the deadline? Then at least i get some information on where the real problem is.
(Sorry for earlier confusion but i hadnt realized that there was still a process running)

I have deleted the folder: SM_OBS_DLL from temp folder

Import process not started in CHARM 7.1 when there is empty transport

Hi all,
We have this issue when using CHARM in Solman 7.1 to import transports for Urgent Change documents (ZMHF).
When we import 2 transports (1 released Workbench and 1 unreleased empty transport) to the ECC QA system, the system returned with error "Not all transports yet released". The Task List log displyed that releasing process was completed ok, but the import process was not started.
We had this issue after we applied Support Pack (EHP6) to our ECC QA system.
Prior to the upgrade, the releasing and import process are ok even there is empty transport. The system will just delete the empty transport when we use the action "Pass Urgent Change to Test".
Has anyone have any idea about this issue?

What is the SP version of SAP Solution manager 7.1 system.
Normally subtask only needs to release in TR, once the click the "pass change to test"

Action :
CLEAR_EMPTY - This action will delete the empty TR in the change document.
RELEASE_REQU - it will release the TR
IMPORT_TEST - Start importing in the QAS
Please update the ChaRM master note in the system and try iy.
Also check the action log and post it.
