Number of new emails not appearing on menu bar

I am using Firefox 4 and yahoo mail. The yahoo menu bar appears at the top of my browser screen. Where it shows "mail" a number would appear showing me how many new emails were waiting for me. With FF4 it no longer shows.
The actual number is not important to me. But the fact that there are fresh emails waiting is important. Is this feature gone? Is there a way to activate it? Is there another alert I can use?

Go to System Preferences/International/Input Menu and tick On Character Palette and Keyboard Viewer.
Next time you click on the menu bar flag, you'll see "Show Character Palette" and "Show Keyboard Viewer"

If i open a new window instead of a new tab, in the new window does not appear the menu tab

i want to open new windows instead of tabs and in the new window should appear the menu tab and scrolling up and down, but now with the new version the menu tab does not appear and i cannot scroll up and down.

Do you mean opening a window via the File menu (File > New Window) or do you always want to open links that you click on web pages in a new window?

Bug with number of new emails?

The "new mail" count on the home screen is always 2 times as high as the real number of new emails.
The badge shows 4 when I have 2 new emails, 6 when I have three etc.
I've restored the iPhone, no luck.
I have Gmail configured on Imap.
Would you know what's the problem?

Have you tried deleting and recreating your Gmail account on your iPhone?
Since you are accessing the account as an IMAP account, no messages that remain on the server in all server stored mailboxes will be lost in the process.

Check number confirmation window does not appear and checks become confirmed automatically

We have updated to SAP 9.10.105 PL 00,
and we have two issues with check printing, first when we print check we do not receive a confirmation window and all of the checks show as being confirmed. as soon as be print checks in the payment wizard after the checks have printed we than get an error message.

the second problem is if I set over flow to blank paper, it will only print one check at a time, and i still do not receive a confirmation window.
I am not sure if the original patch for 8.8 was left out of the 9.1 release.

Thanks for this, I found this after posting a message with SAP Support. Just a heads up, they consider it as 'Consulting' function not an 'Application Error' so they will not be a fix. We'll just need to know to make sure users know to un-check this Box.

Preference panes do not open from menu bar extras

Hello.
I have an annoying problem : the preference panes in system preferences work well but the shortcuts to open them from the menu bar extras do not.
For example, when I choose "open bluetooth preferences" in the bluetooth menu bar extra, nothing happens.
But I can ver y well get to the bluetooth preferences in system preferences.
Same goes for all Apple or non-Apple menu bar extras which give the option of accessing a system prenerences pane : bluetooth, MenuMeters, Salling Clicker, Apple 's battery meter, Date &Time (those are the ones I use).
I tried removing the menu extras and re- enabling them, repaired permissions, checked permissions on the menu extras (with Applecare), re-ran the 10.4.5 combo update ... with no effect.
I think this started after I used Onyx (what a bad idea ...) for "regular" maintenance.
This is just annoying. Applecare tells me to archive and install.
I'd love to have a less invasive solution : except this annoying problem, my Mac works perfectly. And "archive and install" is quite time consuming since it is not that innocent with Apple or 3rd party pro apps.
I remember I had a similar issue with my old Mac by the times of Puma or Jaguar. There was an easier solution than "archive and install" by that time.
If anyone has any idea, I would really appreciate it.

The first thing to do is to remove any third party products that use the menu bar. Apple has advised developers from the day OS X came out to not use the menu bar for anything. They made it off limits for whatever reasons they have.
Of course some developers came up with hacks so that they could use it. Many of us, including me, like them but sometimes they cause problems. That is why I suggest starting there. Remove them and then re check your disk permissions and also run disk utility on your drive to insure that you don't have other issues.
This may not solve the problem but it is a good place to start.

New Folder does not appear on menu--how do I create new folders?

I have a macbook pro with ox version 10.7.2, and Firefox 7. I cannot create new folders because the option does not appear on menus. Is something missing here?

GoDaddy exchange account sent emails not appearing in sent folder in Mac Mail

The problem: I set up my business email address (GoDaddy exchange account) as a new email account in Mac Mail. A few days later I noticed that sent emails were no longer appearing in my sent folder for this account.
The solution: there was a conflict with the Gmail account that I also set up in Mac Mail a few days after I set up my business email. I have deleted my gmail account from Mac Mail and so far so good - sent emails are appearing again in the Sent folder in Mac Mail.
Note:
- Emails sent from webmail (Office 365 Outlook) did appear in the Sent folder.
- GoDaddy thought there was a conflict in the name of the Sent folders (called Sent Items in webmail interface), but said it was a problem Apple should solve.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

IMAP email not appearing in Mail

Background: I have an IMAP email account that's over a decade old. It's going away soon so I'm trying to figure out how to get a complete local copy of all that email. There are a total of around 100 folders with anywhere from 5 to over 2000 emails in each folder.
The problem: there's email on the server that isn't showing up in Mail. For instance one folder (according to the webmail interface) has 771 messages. Mail says that folder has 700 messages. Looking at the webmail interface I can easily find several of the 71 emails that are not appearing in Mail. In Mail, if I select the folder and "Get Account Info" and look at the Quotas section, it lists the correct number of email messages (771). If I rebuild the folder, as it's being rebuilt the blue progress bar at the bottom left of Mail says there are 771 incoming messages. But when it's done, I can only see 700.
I just double checked on a second computer (MacBook Pro, also latest 10.7 version & Mail) and it's the same there, it only sees 700 messages.
Now, repeat this times the roughly 100 folders . . .
What's going on here? Why isn't Mail downloading or displaying these emails?

I just looked in the User/Library/Mail/V2 folder, and tracked down this folder. Digging down several levels into the files for this account and folder I found two sub-folders called "Messages" which contained a total of 774 (mostly) .emlx files. In three cases there were a pair of files with the same number, one with an .emlxpart extension and the other with a partial.emlx extension -- if I assume that pair corresponds to the same email, this it appears there are 771 messages on local disk. And Mail refuses to display 71 of them?
I'm doing a backup with MailSteward to see what it makes of these files.

New contacts not appearing in contact list after ios upgrade

I recently updated my iphone to the latest ios, since then when I have saved a new contact to my phone, even though it appears with the new contact, say in recents, it does not appear in my contacts list?

I added the contact from the "Recents" tab. It now shows in "recents" as that persons name - rather than just the phone number, but doesn't appear in my contact list. Same thing happened when I saved a new contact from a message I received & also when I saved from a contact that had been SMS'd to me.

Chapters do not appear on menu

I'm using version 8.0.4. The chapters will not appear when I drag the movie to the menu screen (nowhere near the drop zone). I've tried a lot of variations with the chapter markers (which I add within iMovie). As a last resort I cut them down to 12 from my original 16 because someone said iMovie9 would only do 12 chapter markers (although Beverly said she put 78 in her movie). That didn't work either. All the markers are numbered and I always put them in the scene breaks between clips, not over the clip. There are no markers at the beginning or over any transitions and the movie is under an hour (3.2gigs). After publishing to the Media Browser I open iDVD/Create new project and drag the movie icon onto the 5.0 theme (Safari) menu screen and it only creates one menu button. No chapters. Everything else works fine. Have added clips to the drop zone, music under the menu, it looks great...except there are no chapters! When I drag the movie icon onto the menu screen there is a little red "1" as well as the green "+" sign. I've read that if there is an empty box at the top left of the sub-menu screen that the chapter won't appear but I can't delete that box. Also, under Preferences/Movies, the "Create chapter submenus" is checked. Don't know what else to do.

That was NOT a silly question. That is exactly, precisely, unequivocally what I did. I was adding comment markers instead of chapter markers. I moved my cursor over both of the marker icons in iMovie and by golly the one I was using was the comment marker and right next to it was the chapter marker. Before your post I didn't know the one next to the comment marker served a purpose - I thought it was must a little arrow pointing to the adjacent screen. EUREKA! I still haven't published yet but I'm sure when I do the chapter markers will be there this time. Another question. I first published to iDVD but the file in the Documents folder was almost three times the size of the one I published to the Media Browser. For a one hour video the iDVD file was over 10 gigs whereas the Media Browser one was only 3.2 gigs. What's the difference? Is it the encoding? I will now return to iMovie to publish and let you know the results.
