NVIDIA GeForce 2 Ultra drivers for Solaris 8

I am having trouble making the GeForce 2 Ultra drivers from NVIDIA. I have the latest gcc and make from GNU, but I keep getting errors. Has anyone been able to successfully load them and get them to work with the GeForece? Thanks in advance.

unixforall,
I had the same problem under linux. I can only tell you what I did for Linux as I haven't had a chance to download Solaris yet. Get the following file:
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.0.2/Install
If you follow this step by step (it is very self explanatory) then you should end up with a few binaries that are compatible with the GeForce. In particular the XFree86 X server module. I don't know if there are any other catches with Solaris but with Linux (RH7) this worked like a charm (except I overwrote my previous config files and had to reinvent the wheel - be careful backup all config files if you are going to overwrite them). Anyway I hope this is of some use.

  • Need driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7

Hi, can anyone please tell me where I can download the driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7. I have tried the drivers for Windows Vista but it does not work. Thanks in advance.

I followed this tutorial after installing Win7 on a friend's HP Pavilion tx1332LA (the tutorial is in Spanish):
    http://www.taringa.net/posts/ebooks-tutoriales/2570715/NVIDIA-nForce-Chipset-Driver-(windows-7-_-vista).html
And since the coprocessor was no longer listed as an unknown device (or something similar), I assumed everything worked correctly afterwards... is that alright or do I have to check in some other way?
Well, here is a part of what the tutorial says (what was enough for me):
-Should work for 32-bits and 64-bits versions (I installed it on Windows 7 x64).
-First of all, we see that in the Device Administrator, there is an unknown device, a coprocessor. That's because Windows 7 can't find its driver.
    -Download and install the following:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39535.exe
and see if the coprocessor is recognized.
-If not, go to the Device Administrator and find the unrecognized coprocessor.
-Right-click on it and select Update driver...
-Select browse my computer -> let me pick -> have disk (this is what the tutorial says, it wasn't exactly the same for me, but I eventually got to pick a folder on my hard drive)
-Browse and select the following (assuming C represents the drive where everything from the file above got unpacked):
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista32\SMU\smuc.inf (for 32-bits version)
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista64\SMU\smuc64.inf (for 64-bits version)
Note: That is what the tutorial says, but I could only select the SMU folder and not a specific file. After selecting the SMU folder, a driver was automatically listed, I selected it and it got installed.
-Now, the coprocessor should be recognized (check the Device Manager).
    Hope it helps!

  • Should I use nVidia or MSI Drivers for my new MSI VGA card?

    Hi,
Im just about to replace my old (non-MSI) Geforce 4600 TI, with a MSI FX 5700, and i'd like to know, should I use the MSI drivers on the MSI CD, or should I just use the latest nVidia driver from the nVidia web site?
    thanks for any help

Yes,but the drivers 6X.XX are optimized to the Geforce 6 series.I don´t think I will gain any increase in perfomance if I use the 61.77 driver, for example, instead of the 56.63.And MSI drivers allow DOT,which is safer way of overclocking

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT driver for Vista x64

    Hello,
I have an issue with my new MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 17" that was released on the 5th of June, 2007.
It has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT installed on it and I simply cannot find Vista 64 bit drivers for it.
I have tried the latest beta Vista x64 drivers (163.11) downloaded from nVidia's official website. I have tried several previous versions including 100.97 one, which contains drivers for 8600M GT model. But they don't work with me. All the driver installation programs allert the following error and quit:
'The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit'.
I also tried Vista 32-bit drivers for 8600M GT. The driver installation program claims the operation system is wrong and quits.
    Anybody has the same issue?
Does a working driver of nVidia GeForce 8600M GT for Vista x64 exist at all?
MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz   Windows Vista   nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

There was one Apple's presentstion where they boot into Windows Vista. So if you claim you can do it why do you forget about Vista x64 customers? I reckon it is because of Leopard that is coming. But it's not an excuse.
I'm currently working in Vista x64 and everything is fine except one thing, I cannot find a working graphics card driver and it is manufacturer's responsibility to provide it. Apple knew there going to be customers who will install Vista x64 on their computers and they at Apple didn't care about it because I guess it's a lame war between you know who.
So why you don't make everything perfect to attract even more Windows customers but instead you hint that you don't care about Vista x64 as you are getting your own 64-bit OS soon. So now they are forcing me to wait having been announced that I can use Vista. But isn't that kind of lame that it's slightly tardy? Why I should wait for Leopard launch if I was insured that Windows will work on my Macbook Pro? Because Apple claim you can run Windows. And don't say it's not official. Who else if not Apple made it possible to run Windows on Mac.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just angry that I cannot find a working driver.

  • OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT is on Adobe's list of unsupported GPUs for Open GL rendering-

My Mac Pro's Radeon X1900 XT is retired to my computer grave yard, in my basement, but going back to the OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT, which shipped with my Mac Pro, brought some encouraging results.
When I first got the 2007 Mac Pro, in 2009, I was running it in Mac OS 10.4.4.11 Tiger and Photoshop CS4 (11.0.0) would disable Open GL rendering when it detected the stock nVidia GeForce 7300 GT card, which was on Adobe's list of unsupported graphics GPUs.   So, I purchased a refurbished Apple Radeon X1900 XT.  This card allowed Photoshop CS4 and Bridge CS4 to enable Open GL Rendering.  Over the last year, the Radeon X1900 XT graphics card has been creating stripes on my screen when it is running hot and sometimes the dual displays would just shut off while I was working.  Also, the computer was doing hardware freezes about once a day.   This morning the Mac Pro shut down it's dual displays, while I was working, and I had to do another cold shut off in order to restart.  I then manually shut the computer down and did a manual boot-up so that Snow Leopard would employ disk maintenance.
I shut the computer off and pulled the Radeon X1900 XT card and re-inserted the OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT card.  Now I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) instead of Photoshop CS4 (11.0.0).
Now, the updated Photoshop CS4, under the newer OS, is enabling Open GL rendering instead of disabling it. This graphics card's hardware limitation is now fixed, so I see no reason to buy the ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for my Mac Pro:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/6615718/
Some who have purchased the Apple  ATI Radeon HD 5770 say they still got the striping on their display when the Radeon HD 5770 card was running hot,  just like with the Radeon X1900 XT.
So far, the OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT is working fine and I'm not getting any striping on my displays with no display shut-offs or hardware freezes.
I'm glad to have Adobe's Open GL rendering enabled with an OEM graphics GPU that runs cool and requires no imbedded cooling fan.  Apples OEM nVidia GeForce 7300 GT, for the Mac Pro, is on Adobe's list of unsupported GPUs for Open GL rendering under Photoshop CS4, so why is it supported now?  Is that just one of the benefits of the Photoshop CS4 11.0.2 update?

Chirs, thanks for your info but you are talking about Photoshop CS5, which does not support OpenGL drawing on the Mac nVidia 7300 or the Mac Radeon X1900.  As long as I am using Photoshop CS4 and have not yet upgraded to CS5, I can continue to use the Mac nVidia 7300 and get limited OpenGL drawing support from Photoshop.  And it is working fine.
Today I found out that Adobe has updated their OpenGL support information and apparemntly when I upgraded my Mac from Tiger to Leopard, and later, I gained Photoshop's Open GL support for the Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT:
    Supported video cards (Mac OS)
Intel-based Macintosh, tested on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and 10.5.4
    17-inch iMac x1600, 128 MB
    ATI HD 2600, 256 MB
    MacBook Air intel GMA X3100
    Nvidia Quadrofx 4500, 512 MB
    Radeon x1900, 512 MB
Intel-based Macintosh, tested on Mac OS X 10.5.4 only
    8800 GT, 512 MB
    iMac 8800 GS, 512 MB
    Nvidia 8600M, 256 MB
The following Power PC cards work in Photoshop CS4: Nvidia 7800 (256 MB), Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT, and the Nvidia Quadro FX 4500.
Note: OpenGL is enabled for the GeForce 7300GT, but Advanced Drawing and 3D Acceleration are disabled.
So, when I upgrade to Photoshop CS5, I will need to replace my video card with something compatible with Photoshop CS5s OpenGL drawing engine.  Do you think the ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit, for my Mac Pro, will get Photoshop CS5 to make OpenGL drawing availible and active?
I appriciate an Adobe employee, like yourself, providing the information I need to make the right hardware choices when upgrading to Adobe CS5.

    Hi Wendell,
Sorry for the inconvenience. NVIDIA is currently working on drivers that support CUDA on Mavericks 10.9 with some of the older NVIDIA cards such as the GTX 285 and the Quadro 4800.
For others interested, the Quadro 4000, K5000 and GTX 680 ect... work with CUDA in 10.9.

The most reliable information on running Windows on a Mac is most often not going to be your store or elsewhere but from ATI and Nvidia.
Apple does not provide graphics drivers anymore than Microsoft does, just something basic is all.
Nvidia - pls. check their web site for information first - has said they would in 2009 provide mobility drivers, for any and all platforms and users.
A Mac running Windows is just a personal microcomputer. And all laptops have faced trouble with graphics.
NVIDIA® is making it easier than ever to get the most capability and performance from your notebook by making NVIDIA® GeForce® notebook drivers available on NVIDIA.com. These drivers deliver sharp, crystal-clear, on-the-go graphics with lightning fast performance for games, videos, and images, all while maintaining manufacturer customizations, including hotkeys.
And one more thing – NVIDIA notebook drivers now bring NVIDIA® CUDA™ technology to notebooks for the first time, including NVIDIA® PhysX™ technology for the latest games.

  • Setting up a bridge for solaris 10

    Hi,
I currently have a dual boot for on my desktop (Solaris 10 and WinXP). I'm currently looking for a way to get online while in solaris, my WinXP install is on a wireless network but it's almost impossible to find wireless drivers for solaris so i'm trying to use my ethernet capabilities.
I bought a wireless print server which has a bridge feature and i'm hoping to find some information on how to setup a bridge on my solaris install.
Any help or direction will help me a lot since I'm very new to solaris. Thank you in advanced.

I have a similar issue but have not been able to get this solution to work.
I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n that is set up in bridge mode and connected to a DSL modem that assigns IP addresses.
I wish to use a remote Airport Express (late 2008) 802.11n to connect via ethernet to a PowerMac without wireless.
    In summary I desire: DSL-ethernet-AirportExtreme-wireless-AirportExpress-ethernet-PowerMac
I have reset the Airport Express to factory defaults and then set to "Join wireless network" and checked allow Ethernet clients. The Airport Express gets an IP address but any number of Macs I have tried will not get an IP address in DHCP mode (except a self-assigned one). I have verified that the cable works: when I connect the Macs to the Airport Extreme base station, they all get an IP address. All versions of firmware are 7.4.1. I have also tried checking and unchecking "Allow this network to be extended" on the Airport Extreme.
    Please help. Thanks
