As Tapash as asked, please confirm that you are running the page against R12 instance. Also provide the details of the page you are trying to run. Did you configure the DB and DBC files properly?

  • Samples don't work under Oracle 10g w JDeveloper 10g

    I have downloaded and attempted to use 3 different samples, and not a single one of them works properly without modification. These were all developed a couple of years ago, probably tested under earlier versions, but do not work under the most current. Does Oracle have any plans to update these samples to work with the most current products, or would the company rather leave its customers frustrated?
    For reference, I am running Oracle 10g (version 10.2.0.1.0) on a Windows 2000 workstation. I'm simply trying to set up a demo application, so I haven't put it on a more powerful server as of yet. I am using JDeveloper 10g (version 10.1.2.1.0 build 1913). The three samples which I have tried to use are:
    Oracle Label Security - Illustrating Ols Function API
    Oracle9i JDBC Sample OCI Connection Pooling and Middle-Tier Authentication Sample
    Oracle Connection Cache Sample Application
    The OLS sample does not even compile properly if not modified. It is necessary to add "jsp:useBean" declarations in order to get past the compiler errors. The documentation for this is also in error. The text describing the application indicates that Figure 3 will show the details for EMP_OPN (the same as for Figure 2), but the actual figure shows the deatils for EMP_RESCH. Thus the resulting discussion and the figures do not match. At least I could finally get this application to work.
    The other two I have not yet figured out the proper drivers or calling sequence. The drivers that work for the first application do not work for the latter two, or the calling sequence are wrong. I get lots of connection errors, loader errors, and others. I am about ready to give up on using the samples, as so far they have wasted more of my time than they have helped.
    All I want to achieve is a demo that shows a database that uses connection sharing or pooling (for performance reasons), does middle-tier authentication, allows the application set a user context and then make database queries, having OLS enforce the access control policy based on the user context (vs. the user used for the shared connections). If there is other sample code that demonstrates this that works under the configuration described above, I would most greatly appreciate knowing about it, or receiving such sample code via email.

    Firstly, XE 10.2.0.1 isn't the same as 10gR2 10.2.0.1
    It was released a bit later and had some fixes that were in later 10.2.0.x patchsets (and also had some different security settings). Maybe they should have gone with 10.2.1.1.
    Second, the embedded PL/SQL gateway was okay for XE, but isn't supported for Apex on the Standard/Enterprise Edition until 11g. It doesn't mean it never works, but it does mean that you shouldn't rely on it.
    That said, there are other issues with 10.2.0.1 so I'd recommend going for the latest patchset anyway.
    Thirdly, if you get the XDB login dialog box, something has gone wrong. For the embedded PL/SQL gateway, XDB is acting as a virtual webserver. Generally what should happen is you connect to the webserver (XDB) and request a page (the APEX login page) and XDB should give it to you, no questions asked.
    If it asks you to login then the XDB webserver is running but is trying to get authorisation before it gives you the page. [By the way, if it does prompt for a username/password, it is expecting a database username/password, not an apex one or an O/S one] I'd suspect something is wrong with the setup.
    What happens if you ask for a simple image like

  • Drop Down Menu on Jdeveloper 10g - REVISED

    Hello Gurus, I am using Jdeveloper 10g. I know that drop down menus are not supported in Jdeveloper10g/ADF and available from it's next release onwards which is Jdeveloper 11g. Hence, to develop drop down menus on a menu bar I am using HTML and Java script. The issue that I am facing - the horizontal menubar displays always on the top of the webpage overlapping other web page objects. This is not where we want to display the menu bar. Instead, it needs to show up somewhere on the middle of the web page. No matter what I do, it displays the menu bar on top most part of the web page. Always. Below is the code snippet. Any help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thank you for your time and efforts.

    I finally deleted the MYSQL Database connection to the application. Still it doesnt work. Please help me as I really cant track why this is so.

    Hello,
    Thank You very much for the solution. I had uninstalled the previous JDeveloper 10g installation and installed a new instance of the same. After which it worked without much of a problem.
    However, my application requires to use MySQL database, so how do I tackle such an error. What was wrong with the connection? I mean MySQL instance seemed to work fine. Is there any version with which JDeveloper can work? Right now am using MySQL 5.0.? Please do advise.

  • Login issues with Mobile Theme 50

    Hi All,
    I have an APEX 4.2 application (Mobile Theme 50) which is running on Oracle 10g and is being accessed via iPads. Whenever you exit out of the application by clicking on the iPad button and go into any other App, Mail, Calendar etc, you are forced back to the login page, rather than allowing the user to continue from where they were . We have other APEX applications using a desktop theme that will happily let you check your mail and when you swap back to Safari your session is still there and you can continue on from the page you were on when you left.
    Authentication is a requirement, but I was hoping that once they login and the session hasn't timed out, that they would be free to move about the iPad without having to login again.
    Are there any setting or changes that can be made to change this behaviour?
    Cheers
    Mike

    Hello,
    Hi Mahmoud, sorry I haven't had time to build a sample app, I might be able to knock up a sample this evening.
    This appears to be an iPad specif problem. Tested it on a Samsung and it is fine. There is also one other subtle difference on the iPad itself, that is when you save the URL as a bookmark it always opens within Safari so you can open other apps, then go back into the apex app within Safari and your session is happily running. If you save the URL to the Home screen it opens in a full screen mode (with no minimise options) and you cannot jump out of it unless you are ready to login again.
    After a bit more Googling I found that in the default Page Template for Theme 50 it has the following Meta Tag in the Header.
    <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />
    From what I can gather this will default the application to run in full screen mode.
    I made a copy of the page template and removed this tag and it now always runs within Safari. (After removing the link from the iPad home screen and creating a new one....Some odd cache problems seem to happen)
    It would be good to have the full screen mode running as it looks neater and obviouly gives you a bit more screen real estate, but removing the meta tags appears to solve the constant login issues....Our users can decide which they prefer.
    Cheers
    Mike

  • How to develop and Run .jsp page from Jdeveloper 10g

    Dear All,
    I need to develop one small JSP page using Jdeveloper10g. pls share information How to develop and Run .jsp page from Jdeveloper 10g.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Hanimi.

    Hi Gyan,
    Any Idea how to get DB connection for JSP Pages.
    Our Java guys developed one JSP page for Login page.
    After Log in instead of standard responsibilites page we calling custom jsp page, For getting DB connection they defined one properties file and hard coded DB details on that file and calling, but client is not accepting hard coding.
    Pls give any idea for getting DB connection directly in JSP pages.

  • Any solutions from oracle  to improve Performance in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g

    Hi ,
    We are developing ADF Applications in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g , 4 developers are working . now every one M/c Ram upgraded to 4 GB
    Still my developers are getting Performance issue , Like Java Heap memory Reached . when we saw in Task Manager Memeusage reached 450,000K
    then Jdeveloper dies and hang there . we have to do this at least 4 to 5 times everyday . thats where it taking a lots of time to
    modify a single small changes .
    What our deveoper are doing they trying to commit frequently after making a important changes in application . but sometimes developer are also
    forget in between . So wee need a solution for this if Oracle fixes this issue .
    Thanks
    KP

    Hi,
    We never had that issue with 10g (but happens in 11g), what is the project's size? I assume very big, else your environment must have something fishy, 10g is really fast and lightweight.

  • Check out TopLink integration with JDeveloper 10g

    I just thought you might want to get a look at the upcoming integration of TopLink and Oracle JDeveloper 10g.
    You can download the JDeveloper 10g preview now and play with it.
    See demo: http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/viewlets/905p_adf_toplink/toplinkEditor_viewlet_swf.html
    and follow the tutorial:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/collateral/prodtour10g.html

    John,
    "1) When I did this last step, it created a new set of 'Offline Database Objects'. It would be nice not to have to redirect the new classes at my original objects or create a new diagram from the new objects. (I would like to bae able to get rid of one set of Database Objects.)"Currently, you are running into the issue since you already have offline tables that you are using to create online tables. You then are creating Java objects from online tables. Each time you create Java Objects from online tables, offline tables are created and cached with the project; the generator is not smart to recognize whether these tables exist offline.
    That's a great suggestion and we already have this under consideration for future release. What you are asking is the ability to generate Java Objects from offline tables.
    2) The Database Objects that were created when I generated the classes all have the schema name prepended. My original Database Objects have the 'package' prepended. I would like my Java classes to map to unqualified tablenames.Another great suggestion; we have already taken this into consideration for this release.
    Also, can I model sequences for my tables and have those automatically generated along with the tables and constraints? You can always create a SEQUENCE table offline or online (on the database; see connections tab) in Jdeveloper and then use it in the TopLink mapping editor with your data model. Let me know if you need more info on it.
    Is there a place I can modify the default datatype to java type mappings? For example, what if I would prefer my classes to be generated with BigDecimal attributes instead of Double? Yet another great suggestion, we will keep it in mind for future release.

  • JSP ADF Tree Binding in JDeveloper 10g

    I am attempting to create a JSP hierarchical tree structure in JDeveloper 10g. I can successfully create the tree structure for two levels only. I need to be able to create a tree 5 or more levels deep. I have created an ADF Master Detail structure using the sample OE schema for three levels and to the best of my knowledge, I have set up the rules correctly using the Tree Binding Editor accessed by a creating a new binding under Create Binding > Input > Tree for the UIModel of the test web application I created. However, in the JSP page, I can only access the first two levels. The code I'm using is as follows:
    <c:forEach var="masterRow" items="${bindings.CustomerOrdersTree.rootNodeBinding.children}">
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustomerId}"/> -
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustFirstName}"/>
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustLastName}"/><br>
    <c:forEach var="ordersChildRow" items="${masterRow.children}">
    <c:out value="${ordersChildRow.OrderId}"/><br>
    <c:forEach var="Row2" items="${ordersChildRow.children}">
    </c:forEach>
    </c:forEach>
    </c:forEach>
    The first two levels display fine, but the third level is not displaying. What syntax should I be using to traverse further levels of the tree binding? Is it even possible? Thanks.
    Note: I didn't connect any event handlers for collapsing or expanding data. I'm just trying to display everything right now.

    I have the nodeExpanded attribute on the second level, set up exactly as the first level. I have a toggleSelection method on the second level (View Object) as well. I've stepped through this method and the arguments are passed correctly and the transient attribute is updated correctly. I'm calling this method through a second DataAction like treeHandler, and this works as far as calling the correct method with the correct argument values.
    The breakdown occurs back on the JSP. Even though the transient attibute gets populated accurately according to the toggleSelection method, when accessing that attribute on the JSP, it returns a null value. I can access all the other attributes from the same View Object, except for the transient attribute. I'm not sure what else to try.
    I'm starting to doubt this is even the best solution for a tree structure. With the way Oracle's example is set up, you would have to nest so many if-then structures in order to keep track of all the nodeExpanded attributes and which data to display or not, and I anticipate view state issues and caching problems.

  • Creating secure web apps in JDeveloper 10g preview

    Hi all,
    I am trying to set up a secure web application and test it within JDeveloper 10g preview. So far, I am able to set up the correct entries in web.xml and ???-oc4j-app.xml (actually had to add the role mapping manually in the last file). I am able to automotically bring up a login form, enter my username/password and get to the protected resources. What I am not able to do is the following:
    1. Display an error page when the login fails (I get a generic HTTP 403 page instead of the page I specified in web.xml).
    2. Enable SSL. I can set the write checkboxes, etc., but instead of displaying the login form, the browser asks me to open/save the file home.do (the protected resource). I think there is some setup that is messing, but what is it?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    Ara

    Sorry, I guess I shoud have made it clearer: I am using HTTP-FORM authentication and I have specified a login and error page there. Neither page is protected (i.e., their URI pattern is not specified in the servlet deployment descriptor).
    I get the login page fine. I am also able to log in,provided I submit the right username/password. The problem comes when I submit an incorrect name/password. In that case, I get a generic HTTP 403 page instead of the error page I specified.
    Hope this provides more clues.

  • JDeveloper 10g and ClearCase

    I tried to configure JDeveloper 10g to use the ClearCase versioning tool and received the following message:
    Warning: A supported ClearCase version has not been detected in your system environment path.
    I checked the PATH env and ClearCase is there.
    The JDev Help docs state that ClearCase 2002/4.0 is supported. Our Rational suite is 2003.
    I'd like to know if the final release of JDev 10g will support the 2003 version. This is critical, we are planning to upgrade to JDev10g to take advantage of new features and we are not able to use Rational 2002 anymore, mainly because Rational now only supports the 2003 suite.
    We'd like to know what's planned for 10g regarding this issue.
    Thanks a lot !

    Brian - you are right. I was able to create a workarea inside a ClearCase view, and immediately JDeveloper began offering an option to add objects to version control. I still get the "Warning" every time I start up JDeveloper, and that is annoying, but it is only a warning and everything works anyway.
    Thank you.

  • JDeveloper 10g Preview status

    Hi,
    I wonder how stable JDeveloper 10g is?
    Can it be used for professional project development?
    When is the first verion expected to be released?
    Thanks for your answer.
    /Magnus W.

    Personally, I don't use JDev 10g yet. I'll wait till the final version is out. In fact, I've only just upgraded from 9.0.3.1 to 9.0.3.3.
    Judging from all the posts on this forum (and as can be expected with 'preview' versions) there are still quite a lot of issues to iron out. So, I really wouldn't use the new JDeveloper for anything else than fiddling around.
    Someone on the JDev team mentioned that the final version is scheduled for the end of January 2004, if I'm not mistaken.

    Hi,
    Barring any last minute issues, the preview should be available on OTN during OracleWorld (next week).
    Thanks,
    Brian
