OBIA HR Analytics - Peoplesoft and Taleo

Hi,
I'm planning to implement OBIA 7.9.6.3 HR analytics with PeopleSoft as the source for few subject areas and Taleo for Recruitment Subject area...
I would like to know whether i can use hybrid source systems to load data... i.e. use Informatica PeopleSoft Adaptor as well as Universal Adaptor (for Taleo recruitment data) to load data in to our Staging tables & DWH tables...
I had a look at "Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Implementing Human Resources Analytics with Universal Adaptors [ID 1269240.1]". But that is only for Universal Adaptor... I need combination of both...
Please provide some details...

As long as you follow the rules outlines in the UA guide, and define a unique DataSourceNum ID, the integration IDs from each source will be unique so the data can coexist with the ERP data without a problem. You need to make sure the granularities from both systems are the same. Also, if you extract from Taleo, I assume you will be extractinng to one specific HR subject area. In other works, you will NOT use OOTB Recruitment (as I assume there is no data for it anyways) and instead use UA Recruitment module for Taleo. As long as you segregate the data and follow the steps in the UA guide, you should be fine.

    Part A:
    I've done some restating of the question, and distributed the calculations among several fields, not all of which need to be included on the visible layout. Other than formatting the Date fields and moving the 'Completed Date' field and its label, I've left this in the default "Layout 1" produced by AppleWorks.
    Field List:
    Priority: Popup menu with six items: 00, J, D, 1, 2, 3  Defaults to 00
    TL (time limit in months): Calculation:  CHOOSE('Priority',0,1,3,4,6,12)
    Received: Date. Option: Automatically insert today's date (ie. Date Record created) (may be edited)
    Target Date: Calculation:
    DATE(YEAR('Received')+INT(MONTH('Received')+'TL')/12,MOD(MONTH('Received')+'TL', 12),DAY('Received'))
    Remaining (Days): Calculation: INT('Target Date'+1-NOW())  (see revision below)
    Completed: Checkbox. Set default value to Unchecked.
    Completed Date: Date: Entered manually
    OnTarget: Calculation: IF('Completed',IF('Completed Date'<'Target Date',"On Target","Over"),IF(INT(NOW())>'Target Date',"Over","On Target"))
    The On Target field shows the current status of the case while still open, and the state on the closing date when it was closed.
    Having done that, I was unhappy with the Remaining field continuing to calculate an ever larger negative number after the case had been closed. Hence this revision below:
    Remaining: Calculation: IF('Completed','Target Date'-'Completed Date',INT('Target Date'+1-NOW()))
    Shows the number of days remaining while the case is open, the days remaining at completion if the case has been marked Completed and the completion date entered.
    Rsults (and some further formatting of the Layout) below.
    Part B:
    You will need Subsummary parts when sorted on Completed and on On Target. Fields can appear on  a Layout only once, so each subsummary part will need a separate Summary type field for each field to be summarized.

    Hi,
    I have a doubt on OBIA 7.9.6 application.
    My OLTP source is JD Edwards.
    They bought Financial analytics, procurement and spend analytics. As we knew that financial anlytics come with prefixed star schema, informatica mappings and DAC settings.
    They also wanted to implement procurement and spend analytics. My question is whether we need to develop a customised data model or Oracle would provide the data model, then our job is to map with OLTP?.
    I am not sure on this. If anyone knew this how to proceed on this, pls let me know.

    if you dont want to edit any mapping, then you can populate the data into some un-used column in the ETL and change the name of the column in RPD.
    Though this is not a good approach, but you can try this.

    My scenario is I have 3 geographical locations all running Oracle EBS finance but may be with different release (R11 and R12). Consider:
    Company A - EBS finance R11
    Company B - EBS finance R12
    Company C - EBS finance R11
    all these companies have fairly standard and similar finance structure but there are possibility of some changes in structure.
    All these companies may or may not have OBIA finance analytics set up respectively and I do not care about it.
    What my goal is to build OBIA finance Analytics on Company D (headquarters) which shows results from all the above A, B & C locations under multi-org structure.
    IT should show combined result and also individual companies at Company D.
    I have well good experience in setting up single organization... but I want to know what things do I need to consider to take care

    There doesnt seem to be much diferences in terms of functionality or features. If you check the release notes..there are a few differences in the 7963 release related to bugs or packaging:

  • Best way to keep PeopleSoft and EBS in sync

    Hello,
    My company is running EBS 11.5.10. We were just purchased by a larger company that is running PeopleSoft and JD Edwards. Our HR/Payroll is going to be pulled from EBS and moved to their PeopleSoft instance. However, we still have our CRM suite that will continue running in EBS, as well as IDM, workflows etc. that still need to function after our companies merge. Those processes need to have updated HR data in EBS, such as hierarchy, job titles, etc. So we need to keep the data in sync between PeopleSoft, which will be the system of record for HR data, and our EBS suite.
    Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to do that?

    If HR information in EBS is used only in purchasing then going forward, you need to maintain only a small amount of data in EBS.
    You will have to keep people, positions, position assignments in sync.
    If you use emp-supervisor hierarchy, then you need to keep the following in sync
    employee's supervisors
    If you use position based hierarchy, then you need to keep the following in sync
    employee positions
    I assume that the approval groups and approval group assignment will remain in Oracle.
    You may also have to keep employee locations, default expense a/c if you use that for requisitions.
    If PSFT is going to maintain the financials , then you have a bigger task onhand.

    I can't find any comparison on the internal database.  Can you add more about your goals with the question?  Are you stuck with a Business unit issue or functionality.  Since Fusion was built form the ground up it is a completely different software product.  If you have a very specific question then we might be able to collaborate with different groups and provide an answer or fix.

  • Errors in Analytics Dashboards (Peoplesoft and SQL Server)

    We are facing a problem implementing BI APPs 7.9.6.3 for Peoplesoft Fin 9.1 (and using MS SQL Server 2008).
    We loaded the Warehouse without problems but when We try to see the reports in FIN and Procurement & Spend Dashboards we get the following errors in several reports:

    Try with this
    Go to the advanced tab and select the ‘Issue an explicit distinct’ checkbox.
    Run the report if it works then uncheck the checkbox for EXPRESSIONS_IN_ORDERBY_SUPPORTED in the features tab of the database properties in the physical layer.

    Hi, we're trying to configure Project Analytics (7.9.6.1) running against Peoplesoft. I have some questions about how to configure the Informatica lookup files mentioned in the sections on "Configure Project Budget" and "Configure Project Cost" (sections 15.2.3.10 and 15.2.3.11 of the configuration guide). Has anyone been there / done that?
    I'm not familiar with BI Apps - I have a long history with OBIEE, but not BI Apps. I'm struggling to translate what needs to be configured into something I can get the business users to help with. Any ideas?

  • Web Analytics reports and not showing data

    Recently we are not seeing Web Analytics data on our sites in our SharePoint 2010 farm. Before we used to see the data. This is what we are seeing now "There is no data available for this report. Here are some possible
    reasons: (1) Web Analytics has not been enabled long enough to generate data;
    (2) There is insufficient data to generate this report; (3) Data logging
    required for this report might not be enabled; (4) Data aggregation might not be
    enabled at the level required for this report."
    I checked the Web Analytics Service Application and it is started. Web Analytics Data Processing service is started on all servers.
    Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import Timer job is running every 30 minutes, while Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing job is disabled. Does this job has to be
    enabled for the web analytics data to be reported? Are there any other places to check to debug the problem? Appreciate any help.

    The timer job Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing needs to be enabled, as it will aggregates and writes the data to the Web Analytics Reporting database.
    Please enable this timer job and run the timer job to see how it works.

  • OBIA Financial Analytics - ETL Incremental Load issue

    Hi guys
    I have an issue while doing ETL Incremental load in DEV. Source, Target ORACLE.
    issue with these two tasks: SDE_ORA_GL_JOURNALS and SDE_ORA_ImportReferenceExtract
    incremental load is holding at SDE_ORA_GL_JOURNALS.....on Database sessions the query is completed and also the session is done but no update in the session log for that session in informatica. It says hust ' SQL Query issued to database' . no progress from there. and the task in both informatica session monitor and DAC says running and keeps running for ever. No errors seen in any of the log files.
    Any idea on whats happening? I checked session logs, DAC servr logs, Database alert logs, Exception logs on source and found nothing.
    I tried to run these Informatica generated queries in SQL developer and they ran well and I did see the results. More over, weird thing is from past three days and about 10 runs....the statis tics are
    both thses tasks run in parallel and most of the times Import references extract is completed first and then GL_Journals is running for ever
    In one run, GL_Journals is done but then Import reference extract is running for ever. I dont exactly understand whats happening. I see both the queries running in parallel on source database.
    Please give me some idea on this. And this same stuff is running good on QA. I dont know how this is working.....any idea on this is appreciated. Thank you. let me know of ay questions. Thank you in advance.

    I am new to Business Intelligence Applications and keen on learning it.
    I know Informatica and OBIEE(Not a very experienced person).
    I have installed BIA on my local windows machine.
    I am using Oracle Apps as the source.
    In the execute tab I selected the HR-Oracle 11510 execution plan and ran it but it failed.
    The workflow error log says the following:

  • Installation of Oracle Discoverer for PeopleSoft and Oracle apps(11.5.10)

    I hope I am in the right forum. I have been assigned to install Oracle Discoverer for Oracle ERP (11.5.10). We currently have a Oracle Discoverer environment for Peoplesoft. My questions are follows.
    1. Can I use the existing Oracle Discoverer which is used to get PeopleSoft data for Oracle Applications (11.5.10) ?? This way I avoid installing another copy of Discoverer. In Future, if we could use the existing technology for other Databases.
    2. If I go in for a new install of Oracle Discoverer, what is that I need to install ? I am guessing, there should be
    1. Desktop application on the client
    2. Do I need to install anything on the server ?
    3. I will have a Oracle Discoverer database
    I guess 1. (Desktop application) would be installed on all desktops ? Is there a web based thingy ?? For 2 and 3 I would require the DBA's to help me out.
    Would anyone have a high level diagram of the things that go in for installation ? I would really appreciate if you could send it to kiranramachandra at yahoo dot com.

    1. No, you don't need to reinstall Discoverer, you can just connect to the new database provided you have updated the TNSNames.ora file. However, before you can connect with Discoverer Desktop you will need to use Discoverer Admin to create a new Apps mode EUL in the Applications Database.
    2. You will need a client installation of Discoverer (Admin and Desktop). If you want to use the web based Discoverer Plus and Viewer tools you will need to a Oracle Application Server installation. If you are installing Discoverer 10g then you should install the Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition. But depending on your version and configuration you may need to install other tools.

  • Upgrading PeopleSoft and Risks with Custom Development

    My company's parent is on PS 8.8, and is trying to bring my company into their system. To do this, they are going to have to do a lot of custom development surrounding labor-based project costing.
    From some of the PeopleSoft developers, I am hearing that it is risky to develop on this older platform, and then upgrade to version 9.1, because some of the customization will not carry over well and will need to be re-written. Their boss insists that this is an exaggeration, and it should not be a concern.
    Can someone please tell me what the pitfalls are of doing heavy custom development on an older version with plans to upgrade in the immediate future?

    Step 2: Define Business process code
    step 3: Define Transaction attached to this Business Process Code
    Step 4: Run transaction EMMA to view it.
