Obiee 11g show title along with no results.

I have a requirment to show no data when there are no results along with the report title at the top.In obiee 11g when i get the no results the title view is dissapearing.Is there any way were i can get both the title along with no results without going to CSS .

Click on the "Displaying the Results of Analyses" section and then scroll down to "Alerting Users to No Data in the Results of Analyses."
In the Header field, you can enter the title of your report, then customize your message in the Message field.

How to show timestamp along with date in LOV dropdown

Hi,
We have a requirement to show timestamp along with date as a display column in a LOV drop down. Type of the date column in VVO is set to timestamp. But still it is showing only date in the UI.
But it is showing timestamp when we run it through AM. Is there any thing in to do in addition to display it in UI? Or it is not feasible? Please suggest me on this issue.

The date format displayed in UI depends on applcore preference set for current user, try changing date format set for current user to include time along with date.

Show OrderType along with name in Display purchase order

Hi All,
When we display purchase order via transaction ME23N, first field on the top left hand corner shows description "Purchase order", "Production order" etc..... Here I would like to see order type (ZB,ZR,ZV etc) along with description.
There is some way to do that settings. Could someone please let me know step by step process how to set that??

"Work" calendar shows birthdays along with the "birthday" calendar

I'm having some troubles with birthdays in iCal. I've read most of the other topics about this but none seem to have the same problem.
My problem resides in the "work" calendar. It shows all birthdays I have in my address book. My question is why, and what makes that calendar different from all the others? The problems becomes evident when I activate the "show birthdays calendar" in the pref. pane. Along with the "work" calendar i get duplicates.
What I need to do is to make the "work" calendar" stop showing birthdays in iCal. Can someone please help me with this?

System Center 2012 Cfg Mgr SP1 CU3 - Some Reports show blank box with no results (perhaps where a graphic would be)

Just migrated from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3. All seems to be working fairly well but when I run certain reports (especially in the EndPoint Protection) I get blank reports with a box where possibly a graphic should be shown. No error given. An
example would be the report named "Antimalware overall status and history". It just shows several boxes with perhaps a small picture icon in the top left of the box. This occurs on several different reports. But I do
have results with other reports. Any ideas?
I am on sql server 2012 (64 bit) on windows 2012 std.

OBIEE 11g Map View - Issue with Label Translation

Hi All,
I have a strange translation issue with the Maps in 11g.
Created in English language to plot the Revenue for each of the Postal Codes.
I selected Postal Code and Revenue Amount in the Criteria and created a new Map View. It had the text 'Postal Code' in the Map Legend and then the scale for revenue amount.
Now I logged on with Chinese Language , it still appears as 'Postal Code' in English where in it was actually supposed to show it in Chinese.
We have a translation pack to get all the column names translated. If I try creating a new table view, it shows the translated text instead of 'Postal Code', but some how this doesn't work with Maps.
Has anyone faced similar issues ? Is there a workaround for this ?

I also encounter the same issue. When I view combined layout, I get the No Results message. But when I edit the table layout, I see that there are records returned. Does anyone had any luck in resolving this issue?

OBIEE 11g - View selector performance with YTD,MTD,Dept ...

We are implementing BI Apps 7963 OBIEE 11.1.5. Financial Analytics. We have a financial report with multiple compound layout views MTD,YTD, by company, by dept.We are experiencing some memory leak issues by Sawserver when we run the report. How does the view selector works ? does it run the query in Database when first time report is accessed and then build all these different views on BI server or query will be run against database for specific view when accessed? Any known performance issues with view selectors ? Any one used view selector for different versions of reports (MTD, YTD ..).

I am experiencing performance issues with view selector. It repeats the SQL for each view resulting in duplicate SQL to be run and thus resulting in poor performance of reports. Is this an expected behavior of view selector?

OBIEE 11g Initialization Block problem with WLS User

Hello,
a brief description of my environment:
- I have one machine with all OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 components (build 120604.0813 BP1 64bit) and Oracle Database 11gR2;
- In a separate machine I have the OID - Oracle Internet Directory where I have all business users with access to OBI Presentation Services;
- In Weblogic Console I created a user named "weblogic" and this one is the administrator of all BI environment, this user is member of BIAdministrator and Administrators group, also this user is used to perform the communication between Fusion Middleware and Weblogic;
- In weblogic Console I created a second user named "init_test" and he have the BIAuthor Role like the users that come from OID;
- I have no problem logging in with all users OID and weblogic.
Problem:
- I created a simple Initalization Block and a variable to contain the result of the follow sql: SELECT region FROM adm_test_region WHERE city='Lisboa'
- Initialization Blocks for Session variables are not working for "weblogic" user. For all other users everything is working as expected (users from OID and "init_test").
Question:
- There is any restriction in terms of Initialization Blocks for Session variables regarding the user that is linking Oracle Fusion Middleware with Oracle Weblogic?

1) You are using the session variables in a data filter in the RPD and for weblogic, the filter does not get applied?
2) When trying to display the value of the sessoin variable in an analysis query, it errors out saying no value?
As a BI Administrator, no data filters gets applied to the reports from the RPD unless you explicitly add them in the front end to the reports.
You can also open the RPD in online mode, and go to sessions and kill everything, login using weblogic and monitor the sessions to see if a session is being created and the list of variables getting intilialized upon weblogic's entry into analytics.

UIX - Showing search page with no results as default

I modified the uix page to create a search page for a simple uix page according to the code give in the forum.
But this shows initially with results.
I want the results to be shown only when a search condition is given.

What u have said was exactly mentioned as a solution when I had searched the Forum.
Ok these were the steps I followed:-
1. A uix data page created (datapage1.uix) in Struts pagelayout.
2. Drag and Drop EmployeesView1 from datacontrol pallete.
3. Added the rendered property for the table in the source code.

4. Then drag and drop textinput from component pallete for the search value and named it value

Tag Cloud to show search terms with zero results

I have been following the blue print document that we have regarding our OEID system which is under development at present.
We have a field called Search Terms which contains the text the user or the navigation has searched for. At present we have a tag cloud that shows the most popular. We also need to show the ones which are at the top of the "yeild zero results" list.
Looking at the Tag Cloud component and after reading the documentation on the tag cloud, it would not seem possible to create an EQL query to do this. Therefore would I have to create a custom attribute when I'm parsing our raw data to do this, then be able to display the 30 or so most popular search terms that yeild zero results, or is there a better way of doing this?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

OBIEE 11g Front End Calculations with Presentation Variables Error

Long time user first time poster to the forums but hopefully you can help.
I have a requirement to perform an aggregation on certain fields with a dynamic grouping requirement (so users can select which grouping they require ie, sum profit by [outlets or companies or region]).
The approach I am using is a prompt setting a presentation variable with the possible groupings for the calculation as choices, and a column in the report with a formula to SUM("table"."column" by "@{variable}{default}") this also contains a dynamic column name containing the presentation variable too.
Where the column could be profit and the variable prompt options could be outlet, company or region (from the above example).
This is currently separate from the RPD due to the dynamic nature required with groupings changing at run time and is done in the front end.
However on selecting some columns via the prompt I receive this error:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 22027] Union of non-compatible types. (HY000)
This only occurs on some field groupings, and is not a certain type in particular. (Including both short date, short time and varchars).
Any ideas where this problem could stem from?

Obiee 11G - Show grand total in chart

I have three measures in my table.
Measure 1 - Rolling balance from the current and previous month.
Measure 2 - PeriodRolling revenue for the last three months including current month
Measure 3 - Calculation using measure 1 and measure 2 and the number of days.
I have created all three measures in the RPD.
The table is by state. So it could be Texas, New York, Illinois and so on.

The chart shows the trend of Measure 3 by time for each state. I need a line on the chart to show the total by month. Do I have to create a sum() formula in the RPD? Appreciate any ideas that you can throw at me.

I created a new group in the selection step and included all the states in it. That seemed to work. The Graph shows a line for grand total. Thank you for your help.
The requirement is to create a line chart. I don't think a bar would work as well here.

You'll have to JOIN instead of MINUS:

...This doesnt show tables whose column names have changed, for that you'll have to use a full outer join:

OBIEE 11g and high availabilty with weblogic

Have anyone already tried to configure an high availabilty environment with more weblogic server and more business intelligence environemnt?
I want to say for example weblogic installed as cluster using 3 nodes and then 2 environet (TEST/PRODUCTION) over this 3-nodes cluster?

In OBIEE, retrieving base members along with their attributes is very slow

I can use Attributes in the prompts and not in the actual report columns, then the report retrieval is very fast. But as soon as I add the Base Member, Attribute1, Measures1, Measure2 etc, the retrieval is slow. All the measures are dynamically calculated. Adding the attribute to the prompt - works fine. How do I design a aggregation with the attributes, I have enabled the enable query tracking. Any suggestions.

I really recommend reading the DBAG section I linked in your other recent question: Re: ASO Cube with attributes very slow in retrieval
For various classes of attribute queries, aggregations are not / can not be used - unfortunately this is just how ASO works. Personally, I have had to make what would logically be an attribute into a real, stored dimension because of this limitation.
