OBIEE Automated Deployment through Ant

OBIEE configuration management and deployment is one of most complex compare to any technology or tool, here is the way you can achieve very easily and you can have multiple streams of project working on same tool or platform (OBIEE). It explains how best you can track and promote the code to different environments like TEST, PRE_PROD and PROD, also you can deploy all four components ETL (DAC & Informatica), BI (RPD), and BI Presentation (WebCat). It is built with Java based configuration tool aka Ant. Details are attached to this post.

    Hi all I have to deploy bpel through ant for this I am following below steps.
    1) SET ANT_HOME to C:\jdev\ant
    2) copied the followong jar files into ant home library orabpel.jar,orabpel-ant.jar, orabpel-boot.jar, orabpel-boot.jar,orabpel-exts.jar,orabpel-thirdparty.jar,oracle_http_client.jar,xmlparserv2.jar,orawsdl.jar

    task or type of type: deployProcess.
    Ant could not find the task or a class this task relies upon.
    This is common and has a number of causes; the usual
    solutions are to read the manual pages then download and
    install needed JAR files, or fix the build file:
    - You have misspelt 'deployProcess'.
    Fix: check your spelling.
    - The task needs an external JAR file to execute
    and this is not found at the right place in the classpath.
    Fix: check the documentation for dependencies.
    Fix: declare the task.
    - The task is an Ant optional task and the JAR file and/or libraries
    implementing the functionality were not found at the time you
    yourself built your installation of Ant from the Ant sources.
    Fix: Look in the ANT_HOME/lib for the 'ant-' JAR corresponding to the
    task and make sure it contains more than merely a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF.
    If all it contains is the manifest, then rebuild Ant with the needed
    libraries present in ${ant.home}/lib/optional/ , or alternatively,
    download a pre-built release version from apache.org
    - The build file was written for a later version of Ant
    Fix: upgrade to at least the latest release version of Ant
    - The task is not an Ant core or optional task
    and needs to be declared using <taskdef>.
    - You are attempting to use a task defined using
    <presetdef> or <macrodef> but have spelt wrong or not
    defined it at the point of use
    Remember that for JAR files to be visible to Ant tasks implemented
    in ANT_HOME/lib, the files must be in the same directory or on the
    classpath
    Please neither file bug reports on this problem, nor email the
    Ant mailing lists, until all of these causes have been explored,
    as this is not an Ant bug.

  • How  to genearte Unit Test reports  through  ANT/Command  line ?

    Hi,
    I am using sql developer unit test feature to test my database code. I am planning to execute and generate reports by running ant script.
    Is it possible to get the unit test results in any format (text,XML,HTML) after running the tests.
    How to integrate report generation tasks as part of Automated builds?
    Is there any command line utility do through can invoke through ant task?
    Thanks,
    Fernando

    Fernando,
    I, too, am looking to run our PL/SQL unit test suites through our automated ant build scripts. Currently, I've only been able to determine that there is a "UtUtil.bat" and "UtUtil.sh" command line utility for win and linux in /sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin. However, it only take three switches:
    UtUtil -run ?
    UtUtil -imp ?
    and
    UtUtil -exp ?
    While this does provide some limited value to us through automating the importing of our exported test suites and then running them as part of our builds, it doesn't help in running reports on the test runs and exporting the reports to something our build processes can consume (i.e. xml).
    Also, we want to be able to run our full db build on (almost) any of our development machines and we don't want to have to have a unit test repository already preconfigured on each development db. I haven't found a utility to automate the creation of the unit test repository user and the repository, and then whena all the test suite runs have finished and the reports run, delete the repository and repository user.
    We have used Quest's Code Tester product in the past and it had all of these great features that I am really hoping Oracle can either implement or expose to us.
    Regards and best of luck,
    Mike Sanchez

  • Automated Deployment Using admin_client.jar gives 500 error

    Greetings,
    1. standalone OC4J version 10.1.3.3.0
    2. Windows XP platform in a VM
    We have a mature deployment in that the deployment from JDeveloper is routinely successful. During the course of developing continuous integration builds, the automated deployment is now failing. We had succeeded previously using admin_client.jar and the deploy command as follows:
        <target name="deploy_oc4j" depends="assembleEar"
      description="deploy the enterprise archive to a standalone oc4j using admin_client.jar">
        <echo>
          In deploy_oc4j target.

            <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.username}"/>
            <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.password}"/>
            <arg value="-deploy"/>
            <arg value="-file"/>
            <arg value="${this.application.name}".ear"/>
            <arg value="-deploymentName"/>
            <arg value="${this.application.name}"/>
            <arg value="-bindAllWebApps"/>
            <arg value="${default.application.name}"/>
        </java>
        </target>We now have two issues occurring and they may be related. We have added the capability of creating a connection pool and a data source using admin_client.jar commands:
        <target name="connectionpool" depends="deploy_oc4j"
          description="create a connection pool using admin_client.jar">
        <echo>
        Adding a connection pool.

            <arg value="-dbPassword"/>
            <arg value="password"/>
          </java>
        </target>We complete the automated deployment and all ant tasks succeed, including creation of the connection pool and managed data source. During this process, the existing system-jazn-data.xml file is overwritten and our Application's <login module> information has been deleted. Upon editing this file and adding back the login module data and restarting oc4j, we can login to our application. The framework of the site is present along with graphics, yet every page visited yields a 500 error (jspx +and+ HTML). Since the entire deployment is done from ant, we do not have the capability of specifying a the web-app as development configuration. We need advice on how best to debug the deployed application as well as knowledge regarding the mechanism which causes the system-jazn-data.xml file in the oc4j/j2ee/home/config folder to be modified.

    Found that jar files were missing from autobuild. This continues to be an issue where libraries are added to WEB-INF\lib in JDeveloper and the individual jar files are needed for an automated build process.

  • How can I export my configuration from MAX to another automation system through NI-DAQmx

    Hi,
    has someone of you an idea how i can export my configuration from MAX to another automation system through NI-DAQmx?
    We created a dll for the communication between the AUSY (not LabVIEW) and NI-DAQmx. The export file .nce is not in ascii format, so we can't use it or is there a way of solving our problem with it?
    Thanks for helping me

  • Stateless bean giving error when deployed through j2ee 1.3RI

    I have written a simple stateless bean and deployed through j2ee 1.3 RI
    Context initial = new InitialContext(h);
    Object obj = initial.lookup("SampleObject"); // SampleObject -jndi name
    SampleHome home = (SampleHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj, SampleHome.class);
    But when running the Client , getting the error
    java.lang.ClassCastException

    at javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(Unknown Source)     at SampleClient.main(SampleClient.java:27)
    Is it a system error or what

    Hi sessionbean,
    The most common cause of this exception is when the RMI-IIOP stubs are not found within the client's classpath. The client stubs are returned from the deployment step.
    Also, it's better to use the no-arg initial context constructor "new InitialContext()" and let the J2EE 1.3 RI code bootstrap the correct naming service.

  • Sun-appserv-deploy cutom Ant task

    Hi
    I wanted to use sun-appserv-deploy custom ant task in my build file to deploy an archive. But the file attribute requires EXISTING file which is constantly being deleted and recreated during development...
        <taskdef name="sun-appserv-deploy" classname="org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.sun.appserv.DeployTask">

          asinstalldir="${j2ee.home}"/>
    Unless the "webapp1.war" exists the enitre build.xml file invalidates (in eclipse)
    How do I use this custom task during my development time (obviously when I run clean the WAR file is removed which invalidates my build.xml)
    Is there a workaround for this?
    Thanks

    You have to include an additional attribute in the task:

  • Error deploying SOAOrderBooking BPEL Process through Ant

    Hello,
    I following Oracle SOA Quick Start Guide (Part # B28938-01) to setup Demo SOA Application.
    I followed the document Chapter 2 and installed SOA Suite with "Basic Install" and JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.
    When deploying SOAOrderBooking BPEL Process as mentioned in Page 2-11 Step # 7, I get following error
    [bpelc] Error while loading schemas from wsdl file at location "http://localhost:8888/orabpel/default/SelectManufacturer/1.0/SelectManufacturer?wsdl". The reason is Unable to create an InitialContext..
    I tried enabling verbose in bpelc command in build.xml file and stack trace indicate java.lang.ClassNotFoundException for oracle.javatools.jndi.LocalInitialContextFactory class.
    I'm trying to setup the demo as Proof-of-concept for one of my projects. So any help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated. I've include the full log file for reference.
    Thanks,
    Sankaran.

  • Not able to create a new domain through ant task

    Hi,
    I have to upgrade weblogic 8.1 to weblogic 10.3 and I am using vanilla version of it. the first step to it is to create weblogic domain and then configure it and then start teh server and then deploy it. The problem starts when I am creating the domain, I am using ant task for domain creation and following these steps
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/programming/ant_tasks.html
    when ant-task is trying to build the specified domain, it is looking for some config.xml and that config.xml should also generated by wlserver/ant task through a template. I have no idea, where and how to define that template.. hence getting following error.. tried hard but not able to get through. can anyone please help..
    Thanks in Advance

  • Automated Deployment

    I am in the process of automating the deployment of our application ear files to some OC4J 10.1.3 instances. We have a large amount of ear files that get deployed to a bank of application servers. Because of this it can take a large amount of time and be quite painful to do the deployment with the enterprise manager tool. This is the reason we are automating the process.
    My question is about the admin_client.jar file and it's interface. From the documentation I have read I can call the admin_client.jar from the command line and execute deployments. This is great (and works nicely for scripts) but I would like to be able to execute the deployments from java code. Is there an API that I can call the deployment functionality in admin_client.jar?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Thanks for your response. I don't mind sharing information on the forums, in case someone else might benefit from the discussion.
    The requirements I have for this project were pretty high level. To make the deployment process faster and easier for all environments, with a focus on production. We use Oracle App Server 10.1.3 to host our application. We have 6 machines in production that about 50 ears get deployed to (in peak periods we add additional machines to the mix). The servers are split into two main groups. One set of ears goes to one set of 3 machines and one set of ears goes to the other set of 3 machines. This is similar in the development and QA envirnments, except the number of machines in each set is less. The old deployment process was to manually use the enterprise manager tool to undeploy and deploy each ear to the appropriate container.
    For the last deploy I built ant scripts to do all the deployment. That works well if nothing changes, but the ant scripts are somewhat difficult to maintain. Not all deployments are for everything and it requires quite a bit of script changing each deployment. Each environment is slight different too, so I currently have 6 copies of the ant scripts and it is becoming difficult to maintain. So, the ant scripts were an improvement, but not quite the perfect solution.
    So, what was proposed is to create a gui tool that would solve all the deployment issues. This deployment tool would allow the user to select an environment. The specifics of that environment would then be loaded in to the tool (appropriate urls, ports, OC4J instances, ears per instance, etc). The user could then select a version of ears available from the automated builds and pick and choose which ears to deploy to which machines. Then press a button to begin the process. The screen would update dynamically with the status of each deploy as it is done. The user would be able to drill down in to each deployment and see the deployment log (the log you normally see when deploying each ear). Some deployment rules will also have to be built in to the tool (A has to be deployed before B, C is a child of D).
    Since we are a Java shop, the proposal is to write the deployment tool in Java (probably Swing). The hope was to be able to drive the deployments with some kind of java interface from the tool. The design is to write a wrapper layer above the oracle deploy layer to abstract away the oracle specific code and allow for changes in that layer without affecting too much other code. We will probably be on 10.1.3 for awhile, so I am fine with writing to a 10.1.3 specific interface that is likely to change with the next version. Whatever it takes to let the deploy monkeys do their job quickly and effectively without my intervention.

  • Automator - Loop through a text file and process data through a 3rd party software

    Just stumbled on Automator the other day (I am a mac n00b) and would like to automate the processing of a text file, line-by-line, using a third party tool.  I would like Automator to loop through the text file one line at a time, copy the string and keep as a variable.  Next, place the variable data (copied string) into the text field of the 3rd party software for processing.  Once the processing is complete, I would like Automator to fetch the next line/string for processing.  I see items like "copy from clipboard" and  "variables" within the menu but I am not finding much documentation on how to utilizle this tool.  Just hear how potentially powerful it is.
    The 3rd party software is not a brand name, just something made for me to process text.  I may have to use mouse clicks or tabs + [return] to navigate with Automator.  A term I heard on Bn Walldie's itunes video series was "scriptable software" for which I don't think this 3rd party app would be.
    Kind regards,
    jw

    Good news and bad news...
    The good news is that it should be entirely possible to automate your workflow.
    The bad news is that it will be a nightmare to implement via Automator, if it's even possible.
    Automator is, essentially a pretty interface on top of AppleScript/Apple Events, and with the pretty interface comes a certain stranglehold on features. Knowing how to boil rice might make you a cook, but understanding flavor profiles and ingredient combinations can make you a chef, and it's the same with AppleScript and Automator. Automator's good at getting you from points A to B but if there are any bumps in the road (e.g. the application you're using isn't scriptable) then it falls apart.
    What I'm getting at is that your requirements are pretty simple to implement in AppleScript because you can get 'under the hood' and do exactly what you want, as opposed to Automator's restricted interface.
    The tricky part is that if no one else can see this app it's going to be hard to tell you what to do.
    I can give you the basics on reading a file and iterating through the lines of text in it, and I can show you how to 'type' text in any given application, but it may be up to you to put the pieces together.
    Here's one way of reading a file and working through each line of text:
    -- ask the user for a file:
    set theFile to (choose file)
    -- read the file contents:
    set theFileContents to (read file theFile)
    -- break out the lines/paragraphs of text:
    set theLines to paragraphs of theFileContents
    -- now iterate through those lines, one by one:
    repeat with eachLine in theLines
      -- code to perform for eachLine goes here
    end repeat
    Once you have a line of text (eachLine in the above example) you can 'type' that into another application via something like:
    tell application "AppName" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
              tell process "AppName"
      keystroke eachLine
              end tell
    end tell
    Here the AppleScript is activating the application and using System Events to emulate typing the contents of the eachLine variable into the process. Put this inside your repeat loop and you're almost there.

  • MS Office Pro 2013 Deployment through SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi Friends,
    I have deployed MS Office Pro 2013 through SCCM 2012. But from Windows 7 Client Machines It's not Installing. Noticed following error in Software Center.
    I'm testing two deployments before bring into production.
    Test Machine 1 :  Purpose = Available
    From Software Center I have found Test Machine 1 is Status failed.
    Test Machine 2 : Purpose = Required
    From Software Center I have found Test Machine 2 is Status post due-will be retried
    The following Error code is same for both Machines.
    ====================================================
    The software change returned error code 0x87D00607(-2016410105).
    ====================================================
    Any idea please .

    Hi,
    Check out this great guide from Ronni on how to deploy Office 2013 using Configuration Manager 2012, a good read.https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/How-to-Deploying-Office-0f954e7f
    Are the content succefully deployed to all DPs?

  • (re)pushing and removing network printers deployed through GP

    Hi,
    We're deploying our printers through Print Management, "Deploy with Group Policy" per user.
    All seems to be working pretty well, but I have a few questions:
    1. How can a client remove the printers that were pushed? I've tried a batch script that does the following:
    net stop spooler
    REG DELETE HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections\,,NTCW9,A0_HP4015_BW /f
    net start spooler
    Although messy, it works, but I wonder if there's a different approach?
    Our AD is built in a way that all users from an office belong to the same OU, so changing the GPO settings is not an option. Allowing users to remove GP pushed printers only occurs very rarely, so no elaborate change should be required.
    2. If the above script runs, I notice that the printers are not pushed again to the client. I've tried this with two users. Is there a way to export the pushed printers to something the user can run locally? (script or anything)

    First of all this is a strange request since you are asking how to manually undo a group policy setting that you are purposefully deploying to the end user.  But anyway, if I were tasked with this dilemma and I had users that just couldn't bear
    to be mapped to a printer they don't want to use I would just change the policy so it doesn't apply to all "Authenticated Users" and use group membership instead.  By the way, is this a technical issue you are trying to solve, or are your end
    users complaining cause they have too many printers in their printer selection menu?
