Oc4j 9.0.3 and j2sdk1.4.0

Hi,
I'm new to OC4J, even though I am an experient java programmer. I copied a file called test.jsp which is working with Tomcat to the j2ee\home\default-web-app directory and then I tried to access it through the following URL: http://localhost:8888/test.jsp
I get the following error:
OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
error: Invalid class file format in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.0_01\lib\rt.jar(java/lang/Object.class). The major.minor version '48.0' is too recent for this tool to understand.
C:\java\oc4j\j2ee\home\application-deployments\default\defaultWebApp\persistence\_pages\_test.java:0: Class java.lang.Object not found in class com.orionserver.http.OrionHttpJspPage.
^
2 errors
I have j2sdk1.4.0 installed and working properly. I am using version 9.0.3 of OC4J. It seems to me that oc4j 9.0.3 and j2sdk1.4.0 cannot work together. Has anyone passed through this? Can anyone help me out?

  • OC4J instance for OHW and Forms

    I have developed a application by using Oracle Forms9i and Oracle AS. Now I am creating a help system for this application and I am using OHW(I installed OHW bundle Demo 2.0.8). The problem is: when I run my application, I have to start OC4J for it, but it is not the same as for OHW, I cannot start OC4J for OHW at the same time, and vice versa.
    Is there any way to solve it? I think it should be. Please help. Thanks.

    The OHW demo bundle was designed to quickly get you up and running to test your helpset and sample various OHW features. In addition, it is a fine solution if you want a standalone server somewhere hosting OHW.
    If you have an application deployed to OC4J, then you will have to deploy OHW to that same app server. Thus, you would have a single OC4J running your application and OHW.

    Why is OC4J looking in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04 instead of c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04?

    Thanks, Avi. I feel silly for overlooking this simple step. I added "c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin" at the end of the PATH variable but that didn't work. When I moved it to the beginning, I finally got it to work.

  • OC4J 9.0.3 and EJB 1.1 deployments???

    I can not deploy my ejb1.1 beans on 9.0.3 container.
    OC4J crashes with an XML parse error as a null pointer exception.
    If I remove my O-R mappings from my orion-ejb-jar.xml file, the container starts up ok (app wont run as it needs the mappings)
    9.0.3 docs claim I should be able to use my 1.1 ejb in this ejb 2.0 container.
    Solaris release notes for 9.0.3 claim I must migrate to ejb2.0
    Someone else posted this same question but got no replies.
    Anyone else deployed ejb1.1 with OR mappings in 9.0.3 successfully yet?
    thanks

    I have tried migrating to an ejb2.0 set of beans and ejb-jar.xml file.
    With no <query> tags installed for my finders I notice that a typical finder produces this:
    <!-- Generated SQL: "select Isp.isp_Id from Isp -->
    This is vastly different from the 1.1 orion-ejb-jar.xml which would list ALL column names in the finder - hence how am I going to do a findAll? The currently generated sql is way off. Deployment of the "ormap" demo also shows a lack of column names in the generated SQL finder methods in orion-ejb-jar.xml.
    Further, as soon as I introduce the query in the 2.0 version of ejb-jar.xml, the container dies with a null pointer exception. Removing this from the ejb-jar and bean deploys. Useless, cause theres no finders though.
    Also, attempts to add to the <finder-method query=...> tag yield container crashes with null pointers too.
    This is not very robust to say the least. Can you provide names of jar files that would cause such exceptions?
    When NO query tag is inserted in the ejb-jar file, attempts to run a sample client using findByPrimaryKey return successfully but use of findAll causes timeouts similar to whats described in
    "finders giving "timeout expired waiting for an instance" after 0, 1, or 2 calls" in this same forum.
    Heres the query out of the ejb-jar.xml file...
    <query>
    <query-method>
    <method-name>findAll</method-name>
    <method-params></method-params>
    </query-method>
    <ejb-ql>
    SELECT OBJECT(o) from IspTb o
    </ejb-ql>
    </query>
    IspTb is the <abstract-schema-name> Tables exist in db.
    The full error...which prevents deployment of the ejbs and hence no rewrite of the orion-ejb-jar file.

  • OC4J 9.0.3 and Struts 1.1b1

    OC4J 9.0.3 is compatible with Struts 1.0.2 but has some problem with Struts 1.1b1 tag libraries, see the following error (struts-example):
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: N. riga 2, <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean" %>
    Errore: duplicated tag definitions within the same TLD: password
    OC4J 9.0.2 works fine with both Struts releases.
    Any hint?

    There was a bug in struts 1.1b1 where struts-html.tld had a duplication of
    the <password> tag. The bug is 8304 (also 8152), in the apache bug database.
    To fix it, basically, you need to get rid of the extra definitions in struts-html.tld.
    Note that this .tld is in 2 places in strut-example.war, 1) under WEB-INF and
    2) in the struts.jar in WEB-INF/lib/struts.jar.
    So, extract, edit and update the jars:
    1) jar xvf struts-example.war WEB-INF/struts-html.tld
    edit WEB-INF/struts-html.tld (remove whole second password tag)
    jar uvf struts-example.war WEB-INF/struts-html.tld
    2) jar xvf struts-example.war WEB-INF/lib/struts.jar
    cd WEB-INF/lib
    jar xvf struts.jar META-INF/tld/struts-html.jar
    edit as above
    jar uvf struts.jar META-INF/tld/struts-html.jar
    cd ../..
    jar uvf struts-example.war WEB-INF/lib/struts.jar
    3) Finally redeploy struts-example.war

  • OC4J web service client and Spring

    Hello!
    I'm trying to use the Web Service client mechanism of Spring 1.2.6 in conjunction with OC4J by subclassing org.springframework.remoting.jaxrpc.JaxRpcPortProxyFactoryBean and using generated classes from soap-ui.
    Problem is that I keep getting errors like this when starting the (embedded) OC4J:

  • OC4J 10.0.3 and javax.enterprise.deployment

    I am playing around with javax.enterprise.deployment.blah.blah as we use a in-house managed deployment procedure, currently we call out to a Runtime process to execute dcmctl commands, but I'd rather use the JSR88 compliant API. What URI is needed to get a DeploymentManager from a DeploymentManagerFactory in both Standalone and Enterprise Edition???
    I would have though the usual ormi://localhost:23791 would have worked?? I get a creation exception...
    Scott.

    That looks very intersting... I tried it out, one thing I forgot to mention is that this will ultimately be kicked off from a Message Driven Bean. I didn't think it matter until I get the following exception, it seems that particular Deployment Manager is expecting to be executed from a standalone client, I'll hunt around next week to
    see if there is one that doesn't assume a ApplicationInitialContext, perhaps it's a System Property that can be passed through...
    Many thanks for your efforts it would have taken me quite awhile to work out the register deployment manager stuff...
    Scott.

  • OC4J 9.0.4 and 9iAS 9.0.3

    Hi,
    I have an application which a vendor is designing for us which is ready to be deployed on OC4J. I have been asked to help set up an application server, and we are currently trying to set up 9iAS Release 2 (9.0.3)
    I have been told by the vendor that they are running the application on standalone OC4J, and that version 9.0.4 is required. Will the application work on the full AS, (I am guessing not?) and if not, is there likely to be a release of AS with the 9.0.4 version of OC4J in it?
    I have recently looked around the Oracle site to find a place to download 9.0.4 standalone, but all I seem to be able to find is 10g now. This is rather confusing, and I was wondering if anyone could clarify whether the bracketing numbering refers to the version of OC4J in the AS?
    I am also wondering whether I can upgrade the OC4J component or not, or whether I should just ask our UNIX contractor to install OC4J stand alone?

    AFAIK the release of OC4J in 9iASR2 has number 9.0.2 and doesn't fully support EJB 2.0 and Servlet 2.3 specification. Standalone OC4J relase 9.0.4 is available as a developer preview. I downloaded it a few days ago.

  • OC4J Server startup classes and JNDI

    Hi,
    I have been using server startup classes in standalone OC4J provided with BPEL developer install to populate data from the server.xml into the JNDI server.
    Now I am deploying the BP to 10gAS and am unable to identify the configuration files that affect the contents of the JNDI server which is accessible from BPEL.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks,
    Toby

    Clemens,
    What we would like to do is to lookup configuration details in OC4J's JNDI server.
    As an example, we have an ftp web service that is used for functionality not available in the FTP adapters, deleting files, executing remote commands etc.
    We need to store the details of ftp connections somewhere centrally, and jndi looks like a good option. Something slightly different we would like to do here is to be able to access the configuration details that the FTP Adapters use, but if that's not possible, seperate entries in the jndi server would be good.
    To populate the JNDI server, we have written a server startup class which loads our custom configuration details at OC4J startup.
    This works fine under the OC4J supplied with a developer install, but when we deploy our code to a full blown 10g AS we cannot access the config information.

  • OC4J  logging of SQL and errors

    Hello,
    We have a custom j2ee application deployed in a 10.1.2.0.2 managed OC4J container. At some point in my error logs I would get failing SQL listed with the java exception. This made it very easy to trouble shoot permission problems or foreign key violations. I lost the java options settings when we upgraded from 9.0.4 appserver to 10.1.2.0.2.
    Does anyone know the correct logging level so I can get erroneous SQL in my logs again?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Neil

    FYI.. My developer just informed me we use a custom persistence layer and we do not use the toplink persistence layer. Is there anywhere else you know of that I can update the logging?

  • OC4J 10.1.3 and JSF 1.2

    Hi i wonder if OC4J 10.1.3 support JSF 1.2. Or only JSF 1.1?
    Tx, Mathias.

    Copy the META-INF folder of the
    jsf-facelets.jar to a folder called "config" in the WEB-INF folder of your web and add
    <context-param>
    <param-name>facelets.LIBRARIES</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/jsf-core.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jsf-html.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jsf-ui.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jstl-core.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jstl-fn.taglib.xml</param-value>
    </context-param>
    to the web.xml.
    This helped for me.

  • OC4J (9.0.4) and Spring question

    I have a servlet in which I get the request dispatcher for an application that is using Spring and forward control to the Spring application.
    ServletContext newContext = servletContext.getContext("/springApp");
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher = newContext.getRequestDispatcher("/main.htm");
    // Forward the new request
    dispatcher.forward(request, response);
    Everything works if the application has just been deployed. If OC4J is stopped and then started again, then I get an internal server error from OC4J in the jsp that the SimpleFormController in the Spring application forwards to complaining about a
    NoClassDefFoundError : org/springframework/web/servlet/tags/BindStatus
    Touching the JSP(to cause a re-compile) or deleting the generated JSPs from
    oc4j904\j2ee\home\application-deployments\default\springApp\persistence\_pages directory fixes the problem. Any ideas as to why OC4J cannot find the class on a restart but does on a clean deploy?
    Thanks

    The 9.0.4 and just released 10.1.2 versions are J2EE 1.3 compatible and implement the Servlet 2.3 specification.
    Therefore it'd not be safe to assume the presence of any new behaviours from the 2.4 spec.
    cheers
    -steve-

    Then when i execute the Netbeans, it gives an error message "Cannot find java.exe".
    In my j2sdk folder there is a folder by name "_uninst", and a test file "install.txt". No other files are present.
    The text file contains the following 2 lines,
    "Installing J2SDK..."
    "Finished Installing J2SDK..." "
    Where Iam wrong. How should i get my java working.
    Can any one give me a suggestion.
    Regards,
    vdharan

    The bundled Java/NB product has a much higher incidence of install problems that the individual products.
    I recommend you download and install a Java-only product , then separately download (from www.netbeans.org) a matching NB product.
    I have Java 1.5.0_02 and a separately installed NB 4.0
    (this route also allows easy upgrades of either product, independently.)
