OCR (Handwriting) forms for Windows Surface

Hi all,
Hoping somebody can suggest a solution here.
I'm converting some DOCX forms that we have over to PDF, no major dramas there, subscribed to the Adobe Cloud Complete no issues and the forms are converting well.
But phase 2 is to have these forms so they are usable on a Microsoft surface tablet (or Android Tablet if the solution dictates) and have the ability for somebody to fill in a field using a stylus and have that convert to digital text.
Is this possible or do I need to completely reshape this so as the forms are saved with handwriting in it and convert at a admin end when they are sent in?
Secondly when creating forms what is the best selected option when creating a new field to have handwriting able to be entered?
Thanks in advance and will happily clarify any points needed

If solutions exist to this (handwriting forms on a tablet) they will be specialised to the hardware and handwriting recogniion need. Start with the solution, and do what it needs. There's no guarantee you can make Word or PDF fit your application, so you may be working in the wrong order.

If I have an old copy of Photoshop 7 in .exe form for Windows, is there any way of getting hold of a .dmg copy that I can install on my Mac?

    Gener7,
Thanks for that clarification. Being a PC-only guy, I could not recall when the break came for the Mac CPU's, and OS's.
As the first released version of Ps was ported only for the Mac (was that release 1.0, or 1.0.1?), and then not released for the PC, until version 2.5, I knew a little bit of the history, but you just filled in a big blank for me. That's the sort of stuff that I missed, back when the Ps Forum was split by platform - I never read the Mac side.
    Appreciated,

  • CC apps for Windows Surface RT?

I am trying to download Photoshop on the desktop of my Windows Surface RT but I keep getting a messagee the I can only download it on a PC, which it is. When I called technical support I was told to download photoshop touch which is only available for ios and android operation systems. My PC/ tablet operates under Windows 8 so I don't understand why it is not recognized as a PC. How can I solve this?

If I download the android version of photoshop touch on my windows surface 1 will it work???
I understand that Photoshop Express is designed to run on Surface RT but it SUCKS in comparison to photoshop touch.
When I signed up for creative cloud I was told that I would have acess to touch apps for free.  This is obviously a lie since you have to pay to download the touch apps.  I read that theres a special promotion that gives you a free month of creative cloud if you have a year membership, buy 3 specified touch applications and register them..... But this is not possible since there is no longer even 3 supported on the list
    Qualifying Touch Apps
    Photoshop Touch for Android
    Adobe Ideas for Android
    Adobe Collage for Android
    Adobe Proto for Android
Adobe Debut for Android Adobe Kuler for Android
    Photoshop Touch for iOS
    Adobe Ideas for iOS
    Adobe Collage for iOS
    Adobe Proto for iOS
    Im really disappointed in Adobe
So can the surface run android versions of Apps????

  • Windows Update for Windows Surface RT 8.1

    Hello,
I have been through some forums, but can't find a definite answer regarding updating Surface RT 8.1
We have some Windows Surface RT 8.1 devices, as RT they are non-domain. My query is:
    1. Is there a WSUS (or System Center config manager) which can handle updates for Windows RT devices like surface?
    2. Since we have more then 60 devices, is there a way we can install the updates without having to connect each of them to the internet and downloading the updates separately.
    Many thanks,

    Dear all,
Thanks for the tips...none of them worked but I found the key to finding what works through the posts...first of all, it was not as simple as going into the permissions and turning mic and webcam on - they were both on.  I then was trying to follow the other post about reinstalling the drivers but had to first figure out how to do this - i.e. where they could be found.  During this process I went followed the following tip:
Open Windows Sound Control Panel and click on the Communications tab. Select there the appropriate option for what Windows should do when communications activity is detected.
What I found was the microphone that I was trying to deinstall was showing there are the default and when I went to test it, I noted that on this tab, it was down to 0 volume.  I moved the volume to the max, tested it and then went into skype and voila...it worked!
What is irritating about all of this - guess it is real life - we all have problems and the fixes are in many cases different.  At any rate, thanks to this forum I was able to fix my problem!

  • How do I create a form in CS6 for Mac similar to a LiveCycle Designer form for Windows?

I have been creating quite a few forms in LiveCycle Designer at work (on Windows 7). I do a lot of scripting (99% JavaScript) in the background in order to make the form function as I need it to. I purchased CS6 for my Mac at home, and have a side project where I need to create a form with a lot of the bells and whistles that my work-related forms have. Since I can't use my work laptop for personal gain, I was wondering if anyone can help get me started with how to create a "LiveCycle Designer"-like form using CS6 (LiveCycle Designer is not offered for a Mac).
    Thanks!

  • Creating a reader enabled form for windows environment

Am stumped on the above and would appreciate any advice.
I've created a simple interactive form in Indesign CS6 and exported to Acrobat. Using Acrobat Pro X I've saved it as a Reader Extended pdf enabling additional features.
The file works perfectly when users fill in the form using Acrobat Reader on a Mac, allowing them to save the file with the content they've added to the form fileds. Users who are working on a Windows/pc computer however, are unable to save the form with the text/data they've added, only print the form with new content. After printing the form clears the data and they are left with blank form fields.
Does anyone know if this is a Mac/PC problem? Or is there another step I need to do to allow pcs to save this file?
    Thanks!

    Hi George,
Thanks for your reply. No other errors or messages came up when opening the file.
The file was set to open automatically in full screen mode, however when trouble shooting the above problem I decided to turn this option off...and now amazingly the file is fine on Windows systems. Clients are now able to add content in to the form fields, save and print the file with no problems. Weird!

  • XDCAM XD files in .mov form for Windows import

A clent spent two weeks shooting in Mexico and brought me a portable drive with nearly 2000 clips / 500GB / 20 hours of footage. I had expected XDCAM EX files in the BPAV folders that I've worked with before. The shooter instead assumed I had a Mac like him and transferred them all from the SxS cards to the drive resulting in re-wrapped .mov files which will not open in Premiere CS5 which lacks the right codec.  The original files are now long gone.
Thanks to a search here I found that Calibrated{Q} XD Decode has worked for people. I've installed the trial version and it indeed works pretty well, but my new loaded MPE system cannot handle more than a few layers before smooth playback turns to stuttering. Rendered sections look fine.
So I'm wondering if XD Decode is still the best available tool of choice out there or if there's something new that I can't find. Or would I be much better off in the long run using a Mac and FCP to export everything out in a form my system would rather play with?
I don't have a RAID on this new system yet - could that be the bottleneck?
Thanks much in advance for any help, insights & suggestions!

Blame Apple for the lack of a Quicktime XDCAM codec on Windows...
How many layers results in "stuttering?" Two? Five? Ten? If you're talking about five or so, that's probably due to a hard drive bottleneck issue; even though the compression is pretty high on XDCAM (35mbps), multiple streams can add up quickly and lead to stuttering on a single drive. Beyond that, XDCAM is MPEG2 compression, and so that incurs some processor-overhead to decode (even the native files would suffer this).
However, if it's only a few clips, you've probably come up against the limitation of 32-bit QuickTime support. Adobe had to develop a translator of sorts to enable QuickTime playback (which is still 32-bit on Windows; again, thanks Apple) on the 64-bitness that is Premiere Pro CS5. There is some overhead involved in this on-the-fly conversion, so that may be a factor in the stuttering.
You could tried batch converting the files to DVCPROHD using AME; AME will create a P2-compliant folder structure, and while the bitrate is higher on DVCPROHD (100mbps, though actual muxed rate depends on the format of the DVCPROHD you encode to), there is less processor-overhead needed. It's going to be a case of "six of one, half dozen of the other," I'm afraid. You could also consider an offline workflow, where you transcode to something more editable yet, like DV, and then swap out the DV files for the XDCAM files later.

  • DirectShow for Windows 8.1 Pro on Surface Pro 3

    Good Morning,
I have a touch screen application which uses DirectShow for capturing a photo. This has been working fine for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 on a desktop.
However we have recently started to use the application on a Surface Pro 3 and found that the camera functionality is not the same. Sometimes the photo will capture, upon re-capturing the preview is scaled a 1/4 of the original size, the camera will lock
out with a System.Excepton of "No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection."
The application is built in C# Winforms. Is there a solution to capturing photo's which will work across Windows 8.1 Desktop and metro?
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are having some trouble with your system startup, with it sounds like an intermittent restart issue. I am happy to help with this, but I do need some more details as to what is happening.
Does the system restart like this regularly?
When it happens, are there any errors on the display, or a Blue Screen, or flashing LED patterns?
Have you noticed if the computer is excessively warm or hot when the restarts happen?
If there are any displayed error messages, please post any details you can.

  • Does Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8 support forms with auto calculation?

I'm using a preformatted form that contains auto calculations.  When I use it on Adobe reader 11 on my laptop, it works.  However, when I use the Adobe reader app for windows eight the auto calculations do not work.   Is there anything I Can do?

Adobe Reader Touch (Windows Store app with "Modern" UI) does not support JavaScript yet.   Thus, auto calculations or field formatting will not work.
If your operating system is Windows 8/8.1 (Pro), not Windows RT, you can install and run Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI).
If your operating system is Windows RT, you may want to try Microsoft Reader (the built-in PDF viewer by Microsoft) to see if auto calculations work.
