ODD file extensions selected from browser cannot be opened

I save shell scripts to my local website and they are have *.sh *.ksh extensions. When I attempt to view the contents of these files from Firefox it goes 'off in the weeds' opening a new tab for each line [I think ] in the file. I can rename all of the files to have a *.txt extension but would rather tell Firefox to treat all *.sh and *.ksh files the same as *.txt but I cannot figure out HOW to do this.
Any help is appreciated - I have looked at the 'Applications' option item but could not figure out how to add a new 'Content Type'

If you get an Open with download dialog then never select Firefox as the program to handle the file.

You can preview the URL with the view-source: protocol to make Firefox open the file.

  • Limitations of trial version 13? I cannot load pictures into the photomerge panorama window either from' browse' or 'add open files'.

    On Adobe's web site it states the trial version has all functionality.  FAQ, common questions & answers | Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 "These trial versions are fully functional, so every feature and aspect of the product is available for you to test-drive. Product trials can easily be converted for unrestricted use without the necessity to reinstall the software in most cases."
    However, I cannot load pictures into the photomerge panorama window either from' browse' or 'add open files'. When I select either way nothing happens.This happens if I enter panorama from photo editor and/or organizer.
    Can anybody enlighten me about this?
    Thanks,
    Barry

    It seems your Samba is denying access to these files & dirs. My best guess would be that either the Samba user is not allowed to write (and read) those (in which case you'd have to modify the permissions accordingly) or Samba sets, when the share is mounted, the permissions such that your user is not allowed to read and write (you may in this case try to just set permissions for you to allow you what you want to do; or use "create mask" or "directory mask" or "writable" in your samba config. ).
    Also, what do the logs say about this? According to your samba conf they are in /var/log/samba/%m.log where %m is the hostname or IP.

  • Idml from CS5 cannot be open on same machine

    A idml from CS5 cannot be opened on the machine where it was made neither on CS4 nor on CS5.
    „The file xxx.idml can not be opened. The file format is not supported by AdobeInDesign, a lack of support necessary add-on module or the file is already open inanother application.“
    Whats up?

    Paul:
    Well, this is quite peculiar. Looking at your IDML file (which is just a .zip file), the "problem" appears to be with designmap.xml. Your designmap begins:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <?aid style="50" type="pi_for_SaveBackINX" readerVersion="6.0" featureSet="257" product="7.0(533)" ?>
    <Document xmlns:idPkg="http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/idml/1.0/packaging" DOMVersion="7.0"...
    The second line is an XML processing-instruction that Adobe doesn't really document very well. Since its a processing instruction, its outside the formal scope of the XML document and they don't really need to document it to have a conformant XML grammar.
    In a normal IDML file, it looks something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <?aid style="50" type="document" readerVersion="6.0" featureSet="257" product="7.0(533)" ?>
    <Document xmlns:idPkg="http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/idml/1.0/packaging" DOMVersion="7.0"...
    See the difference? Yours has type="pi_for_SaveBackINX" and mine has type="document".
    Sure enough, changing it to type=document and zipping it back up lets me open your IDML file without errors.
    It's not clear what all the types are, though. Appendix B of the IDML spec gives us examples of the major IDML types. Normally they are type=document, they can also be type snippet (both for snippets and ICML). Google and the SDK are both silent on this.
    Appendix C of the IDML spec (oh, right; that's at Adobe InDesign CS5 IDML Language Specification) indicates that "IDML defaults are stored in the file Predef.iddx, which is stored inside the Default folder inside the Presets folder in the InDesign application folder."
    So, take a look at /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5/Preset/default/Predef.iddx. Does it have type="document"?
    In my InDesign, SaveBackINX appears in two places:
    $ pwd
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5
    $ find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 grep -i savebackinx /dev/null
    Binary file ./Plug-Ins/Filters/SaveBack.InDesignPlugin/Versions/A/Resources/idrc_PMST/1101.idrc matches
    Binary file ./Plug-Ins/Filters/SaveBack.InDesignPlugin/Versions/A/SaveBack matches
    I'm not really sure when this plugin gets used...
    Still scratching my head on how this could happen to you though...

  • Eyedropper selection from browser reads as #fefefe and not #ffffff?

    I've been able to in the past use the eyedroper tool to grab colors from browser windows and get the exact coded color if it's a css color. I'm using Photoshop cs5 on a mac with snow leopard. When I try to get any color from a browser window (both safari and firefox) photoshop will shift the color slightly. Anyone have any ideas as to why? Do I have setting that is wrong all of sudden?

    One more question. If I use a third party app like xScope to get recoil or reading, it reads exactly the right color from the browser. Why does this app behave as expected and not photoshop? It seems that if the color is coded at #ff0000 it should read as that. Photoshop reads this as as #fe0000. Whereas, xScope reads it at #ff0000. Is there any way to change a display setting or photoshop setting to get this to work?

  • Will files with hidden file extensions in Mac OS X still open automatically in the correct application on a windows PC?

    I recently submitted some job applications that had word and PDF attachments. However, when I saved the files I unwittingly had the 'hide extension' box selected. Will these files still open automatically in the correct application on a PC? (ie are the file extensions just 'hidden' at my end or are they completely removed by selecting this option so as to cause problems when opening them on a PC?)
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks, so having the 'hide extension' box checked when saving a new file for the first time won't save the file without an extension? (because I understand that Mac OS doesn't rely on the file extension but has other ways of knowing what the file is and what to open it with)
    The reason I'm paranoid now is because one of the fields where I was uploading a file had a message to Mac users saying something like 'Mac users, be sure to save your file with an extension'. Surely this just happnes by default??

  • File created with Trial version cannot be opened by Captivate 5.5 (Ensure that the file isn't open, the file isn't damaged....etc.)

    Hi,
    I have a file created by Trial version of captivate. It was created in a different computer. Now, I have to make some modification in the file. However, when I tried to open it with Captivate 5.5, I got the error shown below. I am not able to use the popular solution provided in this link Click here to view   because the file was not created in my computer. I believe that there is a lock on the file since it was created with Trial version of captivate. Is it possible that I send the file to a representative, and they look into it?

    Was the file created with the same version? You talk about 'trial', but the only trial version available at this moment is Captivate 8. You were never able to open a Captivate project in a previous version, that explains why you cannot open it in 5.5.

  • How can I upload an .jpg file to server from browser?

    Hi!
    I am trying to create a webpage whereby myself or any one of my managers can easily create an e-mail & send to our client database. I would like to be able to upload an image to be included with the email, which I have been trying to do using <cffile>, but I get an error message:
    Security: The requested template has been denied access to http:\***MY WEB ADDRESS****.
    I'm assuming that this is an issue with my hosting server, but I fail to see a way round it as I cannot add ftp login data to a <cffile> tag.
    I have also tried to do the same thing with <cfftp> tag including the ftp login data, but this returns an error whereby the website cannot access the file from my hard drive.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    What does your code look like? Something like this?
    <cfif isDefined("form.image") >
        <cffile action = "upload"
            fileField = "image"
            destination = "c:\uploads\images"
            accept = "image/jpg,image/pjpeg,image/jpeg"
            nameConflict = "MakeUnique">
            Done uploading image!
    <!--- Put the code to send email here including, for example, c:\uploads\images\#cffile.serverfile# as attachment --->
    <cfelse>
        <cfform method="post" action="#cgi.script_name#"
            name="uploadForm" enctype="multipart/form-data">
            <cfinput name="image" type="file">
            <br><br>
            <cfinput name="submit" type="submit" value="Upload image">

  • Open cursor for string and select from partition (cannot bind)

    Hi,
    i don't manage to use a bind variable for a select ... from ... PARTITION(...).
    It doesn't work to use something like
    open cur for 'select ... from ... PARTITION(:1) where ...' using 'NDAY_20120301';So i have to create the cursor string with string functions each time i change the partition.
    But that means, that the string changes each time.
    Doesn't that prevent from re-use in library_cache?
    best regards,
    Frank

    >

    >
    Yes it does.
    Doesn't that prevent from re-use in library_cache?
    >

    So why do you care? Unless you have large numbers of partitions what difference does it make? Bind variables are useful to keep Oracle from doing hard parses of queries that are basically the same but use different filter values. Such as an INSERT statement that uses different values FOR EACH ROW rather
    You are just constructing the main (non-filter) part of the query one time and need a single value for the entire query regardless of how many rows - that isn't really a use case for bind variables and isn't going to provide any real benefit.
    So the real question is why do you even care about something that wouldn't provide any benefit to you even if you could do it?
    Looks like you just want to 'roll your own' parallel processing rather that use, and pay for, Oracle's parallel functionality.
    If each partition uses its own tablespace you could filter on the FILE Id of the ROWIDs since the file number will be different for each tablespace and datafile.
    1. Determine the list of file numbers for each partitions tablespace.
    2. Use a WHERE DBMS_ROWID.ROWID_RELATIVE_FNO (ROWID) = :n filter (or use IN (:n1, :n2))to filter rows based on file number(s) for the partition you want
    See DBMS_ROWID.ROWID_RELATIVE_FNO in the PL/SQL Packages and Types doc

  • Photos from LR4 cannot be opened in PSE10

    Hi,
    I have installed the trial versions of LR 4 and PSE 10 on my macbook. Basically, everything runs smoothly.
    I have imported a test directory in my catalog for LR4, where I can access images and edit them.
    However, I cannot open and transfer pictures from LR4 by context menu to PSE 10 (menu entry >Foto>edit in>Photoshop Elements).
    Opening PSE10 from Finder by context menu works fine. I also configured editing pictures in another program in the LR 4 preferences.
    I have tried two versions: the selection of the alias "Photoshop Elements 10", which can be found in / Applications / Adobe Photoshop Elements /.
    That did not work. Then I looked into the alias, and I followed the indicated path. This leads to the file "Photoshop Elements Editor," in a subdirectory
    of the above folder, / Support Files /. Unfortunately, this did not work either.
    Do I miss the correct PSE10 file for the configuration? Or anything else?
    Cheers
    Ralf

    AFAIK there were no code changes in this area between XI and DC, Are you doing all your processing on the same platform (Mac) or does the problem manifest when you move encrypted PDF between Mac and Windows. As I recall the problem that I was talking about manifest when encrypted PDFs were moved between platforms. If you do move your PDFs between platforms, then which Acrobat version do you use on which platform? Is it Acrobat DC on both Mac and Windows? On which platform/Acrobat version do you encrypt and on which platform/Acrobat version you try to open?

  • Email images from iPhoto cannot be opened by ( PC ) others

    I am new to G4 and sending directly from " email " within the iPhoto program. I have been selecting the 680 X 480 file size and yet people ( all PC users ) say they cannot open the attachment. Some say it is a MIME and others report it as a JPEG. Any tips on overcoming this problem for these poor PC users.

    We are a Mac/PC household and I was able to check the 25 emails with attachments sent from a Mac to a PC. 20 did not come through so I resent or forwarded 5 of the original emails with photo attachments this time sending them from mail ( not iPhoto ) and they did not have even a file name attachment this time. Is that wierd. I am just trying out this G4 since I was given it and so far I am not impressed. We were the original Apple 2E household in the 80's so we always knew it was a good platform but I have had nothing but trouble sorry to say. Besides the whole alure of the 2E is you could jack it up open the lid and work on it. Years latter I don't have time for that if you know what I mean. Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Idml from cc cannot be opened or rather is broken in cs6

    Hi there,
    i saved an idml from an indesign cc document and tried to open it in indesign cs6. First cs6 crashes down, than after trying again, it opens indeed, but the textboxes are broken..they are displaced and to small for their content. (don't know, if there was any other problem..just saw that one for the moment)
    Please help me! I'm really desperate, becaus i need this document for my client..:(
    Thanks a lot!
    Hanna_999

    I'm notr sure I understand the question, or maybe you didn't understand me. I'm sugesting you not use the existing files, which seem to be damaged. You can probably recover the text from those files using InDesign Tagged Text, story by story, but that's all you will be using from what you have now. You need to make new files the same size, import the tagged text, then re-import any placed art.
    The easy method for cleaning a damaged file is to export to .idml, but you've already found that isn't working.

  • If I upload Premier files to cloud from mac, can I open them on a Windows based platform?

    I used a friends mac to initiated a adobe premier pro project on a mac drive. I then saved the project. I uploaded the saved project to my Cloud. On my Windows based laptop, I signed into my Cloud account, downloaded the same project. I opened my Pr app, and could not see the project, though the parent file is openable and searchable. Have I not used the full ability of cloud, meaning have I incorrectly synched something? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

  • .xls file format - downloaded from Gmail, can't open in numbers

    I tried to open it using a 3rd party "conversion" program called icExcel.app which i found on the web. I saved the file as Appleworks 6 which is the file format the program offered which Numbers would open -- but it didn't work. Any experience? I don't know what version of .xls in office the file was saved in.

    Hi Ian Mcgrady,
    Welcome to Numbers Discussions.
    Is this file you're attempting to open a true MS Excel .XLS file? Or is it a Google web app? What message are you getting, what happens, are you attempting to open it over the web or off your desktop? The more information you can provide us the better someone will be able to assist you. I've been able to open XLS files without difficulty.
    Also, please be aware these discussion groups are users as yourself helping users.
    Again welcome to Numbers discussions.
    Sincerely,
    RicD
