Odd template updating behavior

hello all,
I've got some weird behavior happening with a template i've
created. I am using some of the basic mm_ scripts (for image
swapping etc) which i have moved to an external .js file which is
linked to the template i'm using. There are no scripts that exist
in the head of the document except the linked files.
The weird behavior happens when i make a change to the
template and then update files site wide ("update all pages" when
saving)....Dreamweaver inserts all the mm_ scripts that i placed in
the external .js file into the heads of the updated files that use
that template.
Now to make things even more confusing, if i update
individual pages by using modify>update current page, the page
updates correctly.
I also have 2 different templates that also access that
external .js file, but neither of them have the same weird updating
problem....
any thoughts?

> any thoughts?
It's a known behavior in earlier versions of DW. Which are
you using?

  • Odd Calc Order Behavior

    Hello all,
I've put together a hybrid analysis cube and I'm experiencing some odd calc order behavior. It appears the years are calculating backwards.
I load my 2007 end balances and calc forward three years. 2008 is correct, but 2009 and 2010 are incorrect. They are incorrect inasmuch as the calcs that require 2008/2009 end balances are incorrect. So I run the script again and now 2009 is right, but 2010 is incorrect. Then I run it once more and 2010 is correct.
It appears the end balances for 2008 and 2009 aren't available for 2009 and 2010, respectively. Thus, I think 2010 is calcing first, but with no 2009 end bals, so it's off. Then 2009 goes, again no end bals, so it's off. Then 2008 calcs, and since 2007 end bals are in there, it's calcing correctly. Thus, I have to calc again two times for 2009 and 2010 to be correct.
    Here's my script:
    Fix (@IRSiblings("2008"),"ScenarioMbr")
    CALC ALL EXCEPT DIM("Years","Scenario");
    Endfix
ScenarioMbr is a level 0 descendant of the Scenario dimension.
Thanks for any help anyone has.

I would suggest checking on your outline order. It sounds like your ending balance hasn't been calculated by the time the beginning balance needs it (as evidenced by your three passes). The order of members in your FIX statement has no bearing on the calculation order. By this, I mean make sure that your Years dimension is ordered as follows...
    Years
    + 2007
    + 2008
    + 2009
    + 2010
Also, make sure that your periods (where your months are is, assuming it is a different dimension) is located above your Years dimension.
Lastly, how are you facilitating getting your Ending balances into your Beginning balances? Sometimes the sequencing for this type of work is improtant as well. For example, if your Ending Balance is a two-pass, it will not be ready until a second pass is done.
IF this doesn't help, maybe provide one of the BegBal members that isn't working, your outline order, the order of the Years dimension, and the dense/sparse settings (assuming BSO).
    Good Luck!!

  • Odd Junk Mail Behavior

I've been experiencing odd Junk Mail behavior on my Mac; I've got the Mail app set so it puts the emails it thinks is Junk in the Junk folder. I do this because I've noticed that certain legitimate emails keep ending up in the Junk folder automatically.
I've also noticed that some of the emails in the Junk folder have not actually been flagged as Junk Mail, they were not colored brown by the Junk Mail rule and there is no button available to tell Mail it's not Junk. How do I stop Mail from flagging something as Junk when it doesn't seem to tag it as Junk but it still ends up in the Junk folder?
I see emails tagged as Junk in the Junk folder that are legit, so I click the "Not Junk" button and move them back to the proper mail folder. But the next time I get mail from the same source, it gets flagged and tagged as Junk again. I thought the Mail app learns from the training we give it. How do I resolve this situation?
I've already set the Junk filtering to not filter emails from recipients who are in my Address Book.

Either you’ve messed with the Preferences > Junk Mail > Advanced settings, or those settings have become corrupt, or you have one or more rules that have a bearing on this.
Assuming it isn’t the latter, try this:
    1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, disable junk mail filtering, then enable it again. This resets the rule that governs what the junk filter does.
    2. Choose either Training or Automatic mode (it doesn’t matter) and leave the other options checked. Click Advanced to see how the junk filter rule is defined now if you want, but don’t touch anything there.
    3. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

  • Template Update on Remote Server - How To?

When I make a change to my template, I get the popup window
that allows me to update the entire site or just files connected to
a template. But, that just updates files on my local computer.
I'm accessing the template file on the remote server and have
that open on my desktop. But, the template update just applies to
    my local files.
So, how do I get the template to update to all related files
    on my remote server?

That would be correct. Templates have no function on the
    server. Never
    have.

  • Template Update

I'm doing our company badges in Illustrator. I've created a template with 12 badges on one page. The only thing that will need to change for each badge is the name and photo. Then every year, alls I need to update is the expiration date. If I open this template, save as a new file, make changes to the template, will the file that utilizes that template update (like a template in Dreamweaver does)?
    Thanks
EDIT: Just tested, doesn't work, I wasn't thinking clearly...duh opens a new document when opening that template. So I guess my question then is what is the best way to do this.

    Hello Tanya,
What you can do to update all the dates on the ID cards you can do the following:
Main Menu: "Edit" + "Find and Replace"
In the "Find" field enter the old date
And in the "Replace With" field enter the new date.
Finally select "Find" + "Replace All" + "Done"
In my versions of CS3, this fields of "Find and Replace" window are saved until your quit the program. In other words, you can open all the ID documents and the old date and the new date will be already set for you to just select "Find" + "Replace All" + "Done"
    I hope this helps.

  • Dreamweaver template update ftp files without synchronizing

Today I change Template - Update all files based on the template - synchronize entire site.
What I Like to do: change Template - Update all files based on the template
and then in the same window button with ftp upload changed files!
    Why do I want this:
The synchronization can take time on big sites, I have cms and billing system on my site with many files.
The synchronization can take time on slow connection.
When the time betwen two synchronization is to small Dreamweaver select all files (or many) for synchronization. I do not know if this is only my problem (maybe there is different time on my computer and the server?).
Do we have solution for this today?
Or can this be something to suggest for next version?
    Thanks for any suggestion

Not sure if there is anything set up in DW yet, it does give a status window of what files were updated, you could possibly work backwards form that list (still a bit cumbersome). I also believe that if you change the template and upload it to your server, it will prompt you as to whether or not you'd like to "include dependant files", and (in theory) it will also upload the files linked associated with it... but that may need to be tested to see how well it works on a larger site.
As a possible alternative, you could use "Server Side Includes" - which is a single file which contains a portion of your page (the top navigation, footer area, etc.), and any page that uses this element will automatically update when you upload just that one element. Here is a link which explains it better: http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp and there are several others on the web that offer more detailed explainations - one caveat is that the web server you use would need to be set up to accept SSI... most do, but something you'd need to look into beforehand...
    Hope that helps,
    Jesse

  • Update Behavior using Multiple tables

I'm trying to use the Update behavior from Dreamweaver MX2004
to update fields from diferent joined tables. The search form works
OK as I joined the tables and I get great results (see SQL Query
below). When I try to create link to a detail page from the master
page and I use the same recordset as below and I use the update
behavior, I can only choose a table at the time to update fields
using only one key. If I choose only one table and pass one key
field is OK but I need to update all three joined tables. Is there
a way to do something like this in the Link field in the master
page calling the detail page? Is there is a correct way to pass the
three keys from the master page to the detail page? I'm using ASP
and standard SQL. The environment is Windows for testing and SQL
    server.
Detail Page Parameters (not sure if this could be done):
    details_Admin_Skill_Resource.asp?resourceSkillMapID=
    <%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("resourceSkillMapID").Value)%>?<%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("skil lID").Value)%>?<%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("resourceId").Value)%>
I'm also inserting hidden fileds in the detail form. Any
Ideas how to update several tables in DW MX2004 with the update
    behavior?
This is the query in the recordset and it is working OK as it
produces results from the search page. What modifications I need to
do to this recordset in the update page?

One solution is to create a view in SQL, that is exactly the
    same as
your SELECT above. You then use the view name instead of the
    table name
in your UPDATE statement. I know in the SQL world that this
    is possible,
but I don't know if the Dreamweaver update behaviour will see
    the views
    stored on your SQL server.

  • CS4 Problem with Template Updates

There's another thread on this subject, but I couldn't see any final resolution.
I'm having a problem with Template Update.
I  have all pages in site linked to a single template.  I built the template 1st and  then created each page from the template using normal method.
When  I now make a change to the template, I save the template and it  automatically saves and opens a box to select pages to update. I  do NOT have to use the Updates feature on the top menus, but I have done  that too just to try different things. When I select all the files,  it updates them all, most of them correctly. BUT, one or several of them  will have a NEW Main Content (and sometimes header) superimposed on top  of the existing Main Content (or header). It shifts the page downward and to the right.  By the way, down below the screwed section, the content is all still there and the original template is still intact under the screwed up area.
To fix it, I create a new page from  the template and start over inserting the Main Content, which is nothing  special, just formatted text.  Next time I update, that same page will  always get screwed up again, but sometimes 1 or more different pages  will also get screwed up in the same way, always with a new nested Main  Content area (on top of the original or sometimes pushed down half a  page).
I thought it might be because of a nested Main Content in that section of the template, but I see none, or any other abnormal html.  It does not do this to all 20-30 pages, just one every time and one or more random ones.  I see nothing in html different from one page to the next.
Don't know how to attach documents to this, but I have the template and two of the screwed up pages to send.

    The site is http://www.michaelchekhov.net
Public directory is /public_html, but that's the root, so the links below should work.
These pages are out of their normal directory, so the supporting  links won't work, but you can see the code. Look at the home page and  you can see what all the pages are supposed to look like.
The template which created the problem with the pages below is at /support/TEMPLATE index.dwt
The page that consistently fails is called poatool.html - the bad one is at /support/BAD poatool.html
A 2nd page that failed on that UPDATE is there also - /support/BAD bibliography.html
The currently working copy of the page that fails everytime is /articles/poatool.html.
    Thanks.

  • Template Updates Revert Code

I'm working on a site and didn't built the templates, but
they look right. For about 80% of the files, when you update the
    template the files update correctly.
For the other 20% it updates part, but then reverts other
parts backwards. For example, I cleaned up the <body> tag in
the template and it didn't update on these 20%. I also updated some
links in the template and they got updated just fine in all sites.
Also in these 20%, when the template updates the files, it
puts back the JavaScript code in an editable area. It's not in the
template and was removed from the code, yet comes back each time
the template is updated. The other 80%, it doesn't come back. What
    the ?!?!?!?
I've tried applying a new template and re-selecting the good
one and that updates the code correctly. However, next template
change, it updates some of the code reverts backwards other parts
of the code. I don't get it.
Please help before I go cRaZy.
Any idea what might be going on or how to stop it? I'm using
    Dreamweaver MX 2004.

This is usually an indication of hinky code somewhere. Can we
    start by
taking a look at the template, please? Can you upload it and
    post a link?

  • Generic javascript error when trying to add PHP Update behavior

When I try to add an Update behavior (PHP) from DW CS5,  I get this popup error and I have no idea what it means!
While executing applyServerBehavior in UpdateRecord.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.
    help??

At this point there are only 2 other solutions to try because that is the only KB article related to JS errors and cleaning out those user configs usually does the trick.
    1.  Your OS profile has become corrupt somewhere.  Create a new profile on your computer and try running the same operation on DW.  If this works you will need to move over your other user settings from applications, but do not move over all user data as you may bring the corrupted file(s) with you.
    2.  Run the Cleaner: Click on Help->De-Activate in any Adobe program to deactivate the software.  Run the Clean Script: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html and then re-install.

  • ? re dropdown list in update behavior

I have a venue table containing a foreign key to a countries
table. The insert behavior works OK.
The URL link contains the correct countries_id (i.e. 225 for
USA). I haven't been able to get the countries or the selected
country to appear in the update behavior page which otherwise
    works.
I have used a hidden field to contain the venue_id and
another hidden field to contain the countries_id.
Anyone have a reference to screen shots as to how to make
    this work?

    Hi Sk2014,
Thanks and sorry for the late reply. I gone through those links and one of them talks about using
SelectedValue='<%# Bind("DivisionCode") %>', but this property does not exist in dropdownlist.
A per the second link, I tried to use the prerender event as follows
protected void ListViewPrerender(object sender, EventArgs e)
    if (this.ListViewAssgn.EditIndex != -1)
    DropDownList ddl = this.ListViewAssgn.Items[this.ListViewAssgn.EditIndex].FindControl("ddlEPriority") as DropDownList;
Here the ddl variable was showing the incorrect selected value. For e.x. if before I clicked edit, if Priority was displayed as Low, then after I click edit, the ddl variable above become High.
I have also tried the ItemDataBound as below, but there too the dropdown list variable was null
protected void ListViewItemDataBound(object sender, ListViewItemEventArgs e)
    try
    if (e.Item.ItemType == ListViewItemType.DataItem)
    DropDownList ddlListPriority = (DropDownList)e.Item.FindControl("ddlEPriority");
    catch (Exception ex)
    throw ex;
I feel that I could be doing something silly somewhere but I am not able to identifiy.
All I want to do, is keep the selected value in the dropdown list unchanged when I click on Edit.Pls help.

page and apply template it works fine and if I alter anything
    else it
    updates OK. Any ideas?

If the table is in an editable region in the template,
changes to the table will not replicate out to the web pages built
from the template. Since any and all of the content in the editable
region can be changed in a web page built from the template,
updates to the content in editable regions of the template itself
    are not applied.

  • Jsp update behavior issue - 8.0.2

The jsp UPDATE behavior is not working. I am running on
Tomcat 5 and have used this behavior successfully before I applied
the 8.0.2 patch. I do not believe it is the jsp complier causing
    this issue.
I go to use the UPDATE recordset behavior and the page
redirects to the page requested, but no table updates are
performed. After digging into this I commented out:
    response.sendRedirect(response.encodeRedirectURL(MM_editRedirectUrl));
    and placed:
    out.print(MM_editQuery);
right below the commented out line so I could see the sql
    query being executed.
The jsp is not grabbing any of the field’s values, but
rather putting in question marks for everything. My change above
    produced the following output:
    update dbo.CONTACT set NAME = ?,JOB_TITLE = ?,GROUP_ID =
    ?,BLDG_ROOM = ?,PHONE = ?,MOBILE = ?,EMAIL = ?,SHOW_PHOTO =
    ?,SUPERVISOR = ?,ALT_CONTACT = ? where USER_ID = ?update
    dbo.CONTACT set NAME = ?,JOB_TITLE = ?,GROUP_ID = ?,BLDG_ROOM =
    ?,PHONE = ?,MOBILE = ?,EMAIL = ?,SHOW_PHOTO = ?,SUPERVISOR =
    ?,ALT_CONTACT = ? where USER_ID = ?
HAs anyone else run into this or I am the only person using
    the jsp model?
    Thanks,
    Trey Wentz

Please sorry for my bad english, I try to be clear ;-)

  • Odd change in Software Update behavior: please corroborate

Hi, I had just updated to QT 7.5 recently and I am experiencing new behavior with software update.
I typically run on a standard user account. I regularly check for software updates from this account by launching software update. It usually runs and tells me if there is anything that needs to be installed. If anything needs to be installed I usually do it through the admin account.
After installing QT 7.5 I saw new update for iMovie and iDVD. I activated software update to check. Now, the system prompts for the admin password and name before it shows the update list. I hit cancel and it shows the list as usual. I personally find this behavior a little annoying. It should only prompt for admin when I actually decide to hit the install button.
I have not tried this on my admin account.
Please try this out yourself and tell me whether you are getting the same behavior or not.

Ok, I did repair permissions, that didn't seem to do it. Using software update on the standard account still drew the prompt before the update list came up. However I tried using SU on the admin account and I did not get the same thing. Then I went back to the standard account and tried it again and the prompt went away.
Looks like SU tried to change something during the checking process but couldn't but when I ran it on the admin account it got changed automatically and now it doesn't seem to require the change now.

  • Incontext Editing loose data when template updated

I have set up incontext editing and it is working well,  I have noticed thought that if I change my template and upload it ,  all the updated stuff in the editable regions are lost?
Am I doing something wrong or is the way it works

    Hello Horsemad Gilly,
This is expected behavior. If you overwrite the page on the server with a local file it will overwrite any changes made through InContext Editing. You should always download the latest version of the page from the server before editing with Dreamweaver in order to prevent overwriting changes made through InContext Editing.
    Best regards,
    Corey
