Odfrc-cmd generates empty output on osx 10.5

Hi, I'm having a problem with odfrc-cmd : it generates empty output on osx 105 (I tried 10.5.4 on an intel mac and 10.5.2 on a ppc mac). The exact same command, run on the exact same sources produces output as expected on a 10.4 system. (odfrc-cmd does not return an error code or error message.)
I'm completely stuck debugging this, can anybody help? Has anybody successfully run odfrc-cmd on 105, or run into the same problems?
thanks,
Arnt

We are building plugins with odfrc on 10.5 without any problems. There was an issue with the odfrc compiler that was fixed in a rev of the SDK. As I recall the failure would show up in the resource merging step, as resource files would be empty because odfrc failed to generate any content.
Make sure you have the latest SDK installed and see if that helps your problem.

  • How to generate Empty file

    Hi all,
I need to generate a empty file via XI when then there is no file in the sender directory during the particular time.
we can't go with adapter module solution to do these.
Please provide with the possible solutions.

    Hi,
"I need to generate a empty file via XI when then there is no file in the sender directory during the particular time"
your requirement looks a good example of BAM (Business Activity monitoring)....
    1) you can implement it using a BPM. Implement a condition in BPM for the first Receive step....
    2) this condition should check for how long it should wait to receive a file (have this time duration confirmed..)this will tell you that there is no file in the server to pick...
    3) develop a dummy structure (DT)....when your condition in step 3 is satisfied you can use this structure.
    4) before using this structure create a mapping with target as this dummy structure...change the occurence of the root node to 0..1
    5) In this mapping disable all the target fields. this will create an empty output.
    6) send this output to the desired location and you have created your empty file.
I have not tested or implemented this scenario....this is only what I would have tried doing in the first attempt.
If you succeed using this method then dont forget to post the final solution.

    Abhishek.

  • Easiest and/or best methods for generating XML output (not with a report)

Hi, several of our EBS customers (11.5.10) are converting their PDF reports to use XML/BI publisher to produce output. The data stream comes from a report that generates the XML output, and then the XML template is applied. This works great ... no problems, etc. From what I have read, however, Oracle intends to treat the traditional Forms and Reports Developers as legacy tools (although still supporting them, of course).
My question is if I wanted to ditch using Reports to generate XML output, what, in your opinion or in your current usage, is the easiest way of getting this data? In Reports, the data modeler is excellent in providing a method to write your queries, split them into different repeating groups, write formula and summary columns, link multiple queries, etc, etc. If one were to become Reports Developer free, what comparable tools are available to take its place? I would expect this tool to handle a mix of GUI and coding like the Reports data modeler. Please note that I'm not looking for an EBS-specific solution -- say for a custom application using regular Oracle 10g DB and iAS, with BI Publisher for reporting.
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Ryan

What I'm looking for is to not use Oracle Reports to generate the XML data output since Oracle's statement of direction is pushing BI Publisher rather than Oracle Reports as the preferred tool for reporting. That said, the data modeler in Reports provides a very flexible tool to construct and link multiple queries and to manipulate the queries into several levels of a master/detail relationship. Further, the mix of GUI and coding makes setting up the data model a lot more efficient. What I'm looking for (and I don't know if anything exists) is something comparable that can be used to generate XML output from the DB -- the idea being that I wouldn't use legacy tools, like Reports, for this task. I hope that is clearer.
Really, another way of answering my question is, aside from Reports and the APIs mentioned so far, what are my fellow developers using, if anything, to extract XML data in a way that handles the features i list above?

  • Unable to generate the output for S_ALR_87012048

    Dear All,
We are trying to execute the report  S_ALR_87012048 for the first period in 2015.  We have tried execute this report with report date 25.01.2015 (which is the last day in period 01), but it is giving no data was selected.
Can anybody suggest whether I need to give any further inputs to generate the output apart from the below.
    Co.code : 9000
Reporting date : 25.01.2015 (which is the last day in our fiscal period 01 /2015)
    Dep area : 01
    Sort Variant : 03 (co.code / bs  accounts / asset class)
User able to execute this report in the last month successfully.
We have completed all year ending process as well.
I have tried execute this report in our quality system with reporting date as 31.12.2014 and 31.12.2015.
Do we need to give reporting date as year ending date ? or last date of current period.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
I do believe that you should consider the authorization side of the matter carefully as pointed out by Mahmoud on Feb 6th. Please check again the mentioned SAP Notes in that thread.
For example, I just tested in my system, I can trigger a report even in a closed fiscal year with a report date end of each period. The only difference is that I get a information message:
Report date is in a closed fiscal year
    Message no. AU172
    Diagnosis
The report date is in the past.
Here the report date is allowed to be the end of the year as well as any
period end during the fiscal year.
    System Response
In an asset report during the fiscal year (report date for a period end
within the year) in a closed fiscal year, it can be the case that the results
for depreciation or the net book value are different between the historical
calculation and the current calculation for the report date. The reason for this
are any changes to asset-related depreciation terms, such as the depreciation
key, useful life, and so on. In the case of such changes, the asset values are
recalculated with the currently entered depreciation terms.
In an open fiscal year and a report date end of period I do not get AU172 and get an output.

  • Generate XML output using DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype and not from rdf

    Hi,
I have a requirement to display output from a particular table in XL format. Out of all the known possible options, I am planning to use the XML publisher to generate XL output.
For the data source, instead of using the conventional way of creating XML data using rdf,I am planning to use DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype pl/sql procedure to generate the XML output. And from the output, call the template to generate the required Excel output.
Now, I am using the following code to generate XML output but am not sure how to proceed from here. I need to first print the XML data in the FND Output file after which I was planning to call the 'XML Report Publisher' (XDOREPPB) program and use the current request id to get the excel output but I am not able to find the way to print the XML data in the output file as:
fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type); - is throwing an error as l_xml_type is an XML data output.
    PROCEDURE xml_main (
    errbuf OUT VARCHAR2
    ,retcode OUT VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_from IN VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_to IN VARCHAR2
    AS
    l_xml_type XMLTYPE;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype
    ('SELECT fnd_global.conc_request_id
    ,TO_CHAR (segment1)
    ,to_char(start_date,''MM/DD/RRRR'')
    ,to_char(xxmcc_project_details_pkg.current_profit_projection
    (project_id),''999,999,990.90'')
    ,to_char(xxmcc_project_details_pkg.cost_to_date (project_id),''999,999,990.90'')
    ,''1''
    FROM pa_projects_all
    WHERE segment1 BETWEEN NVL (p_project_from, segment1)
    AND NVL (p_project_to, segment1)')
    INTO l_xml_type
    FROM DUAL;
         fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type);
    END xml_main;
Can anyone point me as to how to publish XML output using a PL/SQL procedure (DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype)
    Thanks.

Pl see if the example included in this presentation helps http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/Events/OOW-2006/EBS/S281401_Sridhar_Bogelli.pdf
Also, you do not need to explicitly call XDOREPPB in later versions of XML Publisher. If you set up everything correctly (as described in the presentation above and the link below) the Output Post Processor is called automatically after the XML file is generated successfully.

  • How to generate multiple output pdf's from one oracle reports

how to generate multiple output pdf's from one oracle reports.
I have a report where I have to generate more than one output files from the same report based on a parameter.
Each output file is for each parameter.
Is this possible in oracle reports, is so how ?

You can better post your question in the reports forum instead of this pl/sql forum.

  • How to generate the output of a BSP application in PDF format?

    Hi,
I need to modify one BSP application, which generates its output in the form of PDF. I have checked all the methods in the bsp pages and its corresponding controller class's. I couldn't find any relevant method, which deals with generating the output in PDF.
Could you please share your valuable thoughts on this?
Again it would be helpful, If anyone of you share some knowledge on Interactive Adobe Forms.
    Thanks,

    >
I am using oracle version 11.2.0.1, I have set a cronjob which will run on every 15 minutes and give us a log file mentioning the execution time taken for that SQL query:-
The above query will return the output as well as the time taken for execution of the query. I want to suppress the output of the query and only want the time taken to be printed. Is it possible by set commands. I have marked the output as bold and made it Italic.
    >
How would that even be useful?
A query from a tool such as sql*plus is STILL going to send the output to the client and the client. You can keep sql*plus from actually displaying the data by setting autotrace to trace only.
But that TIME TAKEN is still going to include the network time it takes to send ALL rows that the query returns across the network.
That time is NOT the same as the actual execution time of the query. So unless you are trying to determine how long it takes to send the data over the network your 'timing' method is rather flawed.
Why don't you tell us WHAT PROBLEM you are trying to solve so we can help you solve it?

  • BI Publisher - PO_DISPATCH Error generating report output

    Hi everyone,
Sorry for my bad english... having said that...
I need to modify the Purchase Order print. First, I wanted to see the standard version to get an idea of how much different it was. Well, I don't know because it doesn't work.
    Error:
    Error generating report output: (235,2309)
Error occurred during the process of generating the output file from template file, XML data file, and translation XLIFF file.
I know there are several topics on the web, but all of them are about new or custom reports, this is a standard one. When I preview the report on the report definition it works fine, so I assume there's a problem with the XML file generated. When I preview the report specifying an alternative XML I get the same error. The XML file I choose was the one generated by PeopleSoft when trying to view the printable version of the PO online.
So, I start cutting portions of the XML File. I started leaving only de Header Data and it works OK, when I add the Lines it failed. I add the Line Fields one by one to detect what was the problem... And finally it failed when I add AMT_LINE_MAX. Why? No idea, is it because its value is '0,000' instead of '0.000'? I don't think that should be the problem since there are other numeric fields on the header, all with ',' as a decimal separator...
    Am I missing some configuration?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Veronica.

Have a look at the following doc:
"Error generating report output. (235,2309)" When Running the "PO XMLP Dispatch" XML Publisher Report (PO_DISPATCH) for a Purchase Order with a Ship To Location with Special Characters in the Address [ID 1299876.1]
    https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=1299876.1
Stating this happens for example when there is a location with special characters.

If I were to guess, I'd guess that your filename is invalid. How about removing all special characters (spaces, brackets, etc.) from the device name. Also, make sure your form was compiled for HTML.
I haven't actually used the HTML driver, but these are general things you should do if you have trouble with any Central driver.

  • Can we generate the output of SQL Query in XML format ..

    Hi Team,
Can we generate an XML doc for an SQL Query.
I've seen in SQL Server 2000.It is generating the output of an SQL Query in xml format.
select * from emp for xml auto
    The output looks like
    <emp EMPNO="7369" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="20"/><emp EMPNO="7370" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="10"/>

Just a little bit of short hand.
Get the XML out of your database, via HTTP
Of course the easiest method is just to return an XMLType from a stored procedure and let the calling routine figure out what to do with it. Instead
of that way though, I'll show you how to do it via HTTP. It's all completely built into 10g and is super easy to use.
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emps_and_depts AS
    SELECT e.employee_id AS "EmployeeId",
    e.last_name AS "Name",
    e.job_id AS "Job",
    e.manager_id AS "Manager",
    e.hire_date AS "HireDate",
    e.salary AS "Salary",
    e.commission_pct AS "Commission",
    XMLFOREST (
    d.department_id AS "DeptNo",
    d.department_name AS "DeptName",
    d.location_id AS "Location"
    ) AS "Dept"
    FROM employees e, departments d
    WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id
Some people hear web and immediately start salivating about security issues. Let me address that quickly. Just because you have the HTTP and/or
FTP servers running in the database, that does not mean you have a security problem. For one, I would hope your databases are behind a firewall.
Second, with the correct architecture (DMZ, app servers, etc) you can make this data available outside the firewall fairly transparently and third,
just because it's on the web does not mean the data MUST be available on the internet. This is a good way to make your data available on your
intranet. If you are worried about people INSIDE your firewall, that still doesn't preclude web based access. Follow Oracle security guidelines.
Before I show you how to get to your data, let's talk about URLs and URIs. A URL is a Uniform Resource Locater and URI is a Uniform Resource
Identifier. A URL is the way you would identify a document on the net, i.e. http://www.oracle.com is a URL. A URI is a more generic form of a URL.
Oracle supports three types of URI: HTTPURIType - basically a URL (which would be like the URL above), XDURIType - a pointer to an XDB resource
(usually an XML document but can be other objects), and DBURIType - a pointer to database objects.
It's the DBURIType that we're going to concentrate on here. The DBURIType let's us reference database objects using a file/folder paradigm. The
format for a DBURI is /oradb/<schema>/<table>. Oradb is shorthand for the database; it is not the database name or SID. My database is named XE
but I still use oradb in the DBURI. For example, the view we created above is in my XE database, is owned by HR (at least in my case) and is called
EMPS_AND_DEPTS. This can be referenced as /oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS.
If the view had many rows and you wanted only one of them, you can restrict it by including a predicate. The documentation for XDB has a great
write up on Using DBURIs.In our case, we are going to write out the entire document. Now that you understand that the DBURI is a pointer to
objects in our instance, we can use that to access the data as a URL.
The format for the URL call is http://<machinename>:<port>/<DBURI>
In my case, my XE database is running on a machine called mach1 and is listening on port 8080. So to see the view we created above, I open my
    browser and navigate to: http//mach1:8080/oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
The created URL will be as http//mach1:8080/oradb/PUBLIC/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
If your database is set up correctly and listening on port 8080 (the default), your browser should ask you to login. Login as the user who created the
view (in my case HR). You should now get an XML document displayed in your browser.
And that's it. It doesn't get much simpler than that. If you get rid of the descriptive text above, it basically comes down to:
    Create a table or view
    Open your web browser
    Enter a URL
Enter a user ID and password
    View your XML
If you notice, Oracle formatted the data as XML for us. Our view returns scalar columns and an XML fragment called Dept. Oracle formatted the
return results into an XML format.
And as a side note, if you look closely, you'll see that my URL has PUBLIC where I said to put HR. PUBLIC is a synonym for all objects that your
logged in user can see. That way, if your user has been granted select access on many schemas, you can use PUBLIC and see any of them.

  • Warning on PO Saving: No message generated for output of purchasing documen

The following message is coming while saving the Purchase Order.
No message generated for output of purchasing document
    Message no. 06261
    Diagnosis
The system was not able to find a message record via the message determination schema. Therefore it was not possible for such a record to be generated for this purchasing document. In consequence, the purchasing document cannot be outputted (printed or transmitted).
    Procedure
The message determination process should be checked and, if necessary, corrected.
The message record can be created manually for this document. For this purpose, choose the function "Messages" in the menu "Header" and maintain the necessary data.
    Please guide.

  • Warning "No message generated for output of purchasing document" disabled

    Hello Gurus
When a PO in ME21N is created and for some reason there was no output message determined the system should give a warning message "No message generated for output of purchasing document". It causes troubles because buyers don't know when they press SAVE whether output was made or not.
Please advise where to enable this feature.
Note: This happens not always and not for every user.
    Great Thanks and Best Regards!

    Hi Oibek,
This message is automatic , i have not seen any config driving this.
If there is no output message type maintained for document type or requirement is met , system by default issue the warning message 'No message generated for output of purchasing document' .
Check the user GUI setting , may be warning messages are ignored for display.
Logon to SAP -> Customization of Local Layout (ALT+F12)-> Options -> Options tab -> Dailog Box at warning Message ( tick the Check box).
After this try creating PO from user Login , it should display a dialog box even for warning.
    Thanking You ,

  • XML Elements Ordering in Generated XML Output

I have a requirement where I need the xml element tags to appear in the generated xml output in the same order as in data template definition but in my case this is not happening. I have one master group - Customer and two subgroups - BillingAddress and ShipToAddress. The subgroups appear below some master elements eg. Contact but above other master elements eg. Telephone . If you know the changes necessary then you could write an XSL transformation to do them. But a generalized piece of code that examined an XML document and a schema, then produced a corrected document, would be quite difficult to write.

  • How to generate the output of BSP application in PDF format?

    Hi,
I need to modify one BSP application, which generates its output in the form of PDF.
    Thanks,
    John

    okay, awesome
i'd use DOM or some high level API for this (don't write it by hand using plain File IO)
okay, try this site, it goes through building a document, adding elements, writing to file, etc.

  • Generate txt output using a program unit in web report (OAS 10g)

    Hi Everyone.
I have a c/s report (6i) which generates a txt file in a program unit using TEXT_IO package. I need to move this report to web (Reports 10g) and publishing it in OAS 10g. I've done that (without the text file generation), I can see the report on the browser in PDF Format and works fine... but, I still have a problem... when I use Text_io package, the c/s version of the report in 10g runs an generates the output.txt file but when I move it to web I got an error in the before report trigger (in which I invoke the program unit sp_generate_txt)
I looked around for a solution and I just find the usage of webutil package, but as you know, webutil package is only usable in Forms.
Any Ideas on how can I solve this problem?

    Hello,
TEXT_IO can be used in Reports deployed on the web.
The difference with Client /Server is the fact that the file create by TEXT_IO will be created on the "Middle Tier Server" and not on the Client.
