OEM status of listener
Hello all,
After configuring OEM to production database. i can able to check the status of database & host is up , but listener status is down, moreover all the listeners, services, databases are running.
by checking logfile of EMOMS i find following error:
*2010-05-13 20:52:53,509 [HttpRequestHandler-1043797599] ERROR eml.OMSHandshake processFailure.781 - OMSHandshake failed.(AGENT URL = http://xxx.xx.xxx.xx:3938/emd/main)(ERROR = X-ORCL-EMAK MISSING)*
and also by checking agent status i found different version, it could be problem?
can anyone tell me solution for this.
Agent Version : 10.1.0.6.0
OMS Version : 10.1.0.6.0
Protocol Version : 10.1.0.2.0
I have gone through some forums, when i tried to configure secure agent i got error

Why my OEM reporting that listener is down?
Hi All,
11.2.0.1
Linux 6
If I login via putty and check listener, it is ok. But my listener is configured as listener2 because I have other database with its own listerner1 name.
But why is that if I use OEM, it is asking for the default LISTENER with port 1521. Hence it is reporting as down. What can not it see the other configured LISTENER2???
Thanks,
pK

I was just thinking that each app&db(which have different db versions) will independent on their own. If I retart app1+db1, it will not affects app2+db2. Sometimes our app need listeners to be restarted. I will also test DG on this machine, will DG on 11.2.0.1 listeners will be ok if I used the listener of 11.2.0.3?
Sometimes our app need listeners to be restarted.
I'd like to see the technical justification for this statement. The listener is just a connection broker. It receives a connection request, sets up the requested connection, then is out of the picture. What action on the app could possibly cause a need for a listener restart? -
MTA Unknown Status - Not Listening
Recently we installed GroupWise monitor on the same server as the MTA.
When I go to view the monitor webpage all the components (pos, gwia, webacc) all show green and happy, but the MTA shows the "Not Listening" status. Here's the fun part.
When monitoring the MTA using the MTA console everything looks fine.
However, when you click on the "Not Listening" link in GroupWise monitor it shows the MTA's address as the old Netware server's address that we migrated from. Hence the "Not Listening" status. Not sure why the old address is showing. I've looked all through the startup files for the post offices, MTA, GWIA and Webacc for anything that might reference the old MTA's ip address, but couldn't find anything.
It's really not a big deal since we can monitor it via the MTA's console, but it would be nice to have it available in the GroupWise monitor page so we can set traps, notifications, etc, etc.
Is there anyway I can fix this?I will attempt to make a backup of the main DB and then rebuild it and then the POAs afterwards and see if that fixes anything. On another note... do you think that bad link information in the databases could be causing the post offices and webmail agents to just randomly quit once or twice daily. We've been having this issue since we upgraded to GW8. It may be another issue completely. Just curious what your thoughts were.

Is this your primary domain? Is it the parent of the GWMonitor object/app? If you have multiple domains, connect ConsoleOne to each one and verify the IP of the object in the MTA (not domain) properties. You might even consider a rebuild of the domain. If the child POs still don't connect w/o that switch (after you've verified the correct address in the MTA), you might consider rebuilding them too. They either aren't getting the updated info from the domain or the domain doesn't have the right info to begin with.
Report back what you find.

Status for listener has wrong number of arguments
I'm runing the OEM and trying to click on the "Listner Status" button on the right side of the screen when showing the listeners. It returns an error message "NL-00857 wrong number (0-1 needed) of arguments tot status"
where do I see these arguments?
thnx
EndreOK, I have made some progress on this. Try opening the file you created in Pages '08 in Preview and saving under a new name. This is what my friend did and it worked. Here is what he said in his email to me:
+"I opened your file on my MacBook Pro with Preview and then saved again under new name. I could open the file I saved in widows fine but the original file you sent would not open. "+
Unfortunately, it did not work when I retraced his steps on my Mac. However, it is worth a try, and if it doesn't work on your own Mac, try another one you own or see if it will work on a friend's Mac. -

I am getting mixed signals on the status of my listener. Oracle Enterprise Manager says that listener is down, but when I type the command lsnrctl status, it states that it is up.
I have restarted my OEM and my listener to see if it would fix the mixup, but it remains the same. What should I trust, or am I completely off base?

LISTENER.ORA Location /opt/oracle/product/10.2/db_1/network/admin
Whereas, it is really located at
*/opt/oracle/tkdb/network/admin*
How might I go about changing where OEM thinks my Listener is? I changed the PATH variable to the correct location, and restarted the OEM via, emctl stop dbconsole, then emctl start dbconsole - It still is registering the wrong path.
Any help appreciated,

Communication Problem between Listener and OEM
Dear all,
I had my OEM running and communicating with the database without any problem until I had a problem with other client and kill some OEM and Listener process, now it's not communicating with the listener.
I restarted my PC and tried to start afresh hoping that it ran as it had been, but the result is on the contrary. Somehow, the communication is corrupted. Currently, I can start the OEM using
emtcl start dbconsolebut when I try to start the listener from the browser from Net Services Administration: Host Login, it keeps starting without success.
the following is the Manager trace file, which got warnings and errors that I don't understand

4. Start listener ORACLE_LISTENER that associates with OEM from OEM database control page.
5. Brought me to NET login page, enter the login page, enable the listener.

Stop and then start Listener from OEM
Hi,
I am new to Oracle. I notice after stopping listener using OEM on Windows XP, the TNSLNR.exe is terminated as I expected. At that point, all connections include OEM, iSQL*PLUS and SQL*PLUS should close connection.
If this is right, how can one start listener from OEM? One needs listener work before using OEM to config something else. What is the purpose of Start button for listener on OEM? Even more perplexing me is that iSQL*PLUS is still works! Does iSQL*PLUS not use listener for connection?
Your help will be appreciated,
-HongHi
i think its not possible to start the listener from oem, because the oem use the listener to communicate to the db.

You have the tns problem that triggers an underlying error, but on top of that you have the problem that Oracle cannot find the message file that it needs to properly report the tns problem.

OEM 10.2.0.5 Errors Monitoring Oracle 11g on RHEL 5.3 64-bit
Hi,
I am trying to setup a grid control box to monitor two 11gR1 databases on a RAC cluster. We have Oracle CRS for the clustering software and we are using OEM GC 10.2.0.5. I have cloned 10.2.0.5 agents from the OMS install and the hosts show up in OEM.
The listener shows as down in the EM console. The database shows down too with "Agent Connection to Instance" failed with ORA-12545. Connect failed because target host or object does not exist (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).
My emagemt_perl.trc has the following:
has_metrics.pl: Wed Jan 27 23:38:01 2010: WARN: WARN:has::Common:: has::Common::hasGetSQLResults: Could not
connect.
I discovered the targets with the agent, when it was added to EM. I also set the dbsnmp password but I am still getting the error.
Thanks for any ideas,

I'm trying to connect to a 10gR2 database (via OEM) that has a password protected listener. After configuring/starting dbconsole, OEM shows that the database instance is up, however I'm getting TNS-01169 "Listener has not recognized the password". I am able to use LSNRCTL and successfully pass the password to stop/start/check status of listener. Is there a way for dbconsole to pass the listener password upon start?

// *Cause: The user attempted to issue a privileged administrative command, but
// could not be successfully authenticated by the listener using the local OS
// authentication mechanism. This may occur due to one of the following
// reasons:
// 1. The user is running a version of LSNRCTL that is lower than the version
// of the listener.
// 2. The user is attempting to administer the listener from a remote node.
// 3. The listener could not obtain the system resources needed to perform the

// 5. The communication between the listener and LSNRCTL is being intercepted

Looks like the 'emctl' you running is for iAS not Oracle Database. Application Server EM doesn't have dbconsole.
Do
which emctlfind out which emctl you are running by default.
Make sure your ORACLE_HOME point to Oracle Database Installation and in your $PATH, Oracle database installation $ORACLE_HOME/bin is in preceding position not Application Server. -
Listener down in em console?
Hi in my home page of em console i have one listener Down. But when i go to the remote host and write: lsnrctl status (the listener is UP).
All other target in this same host (database instance, ASM), show the status in the console as UP.
thanks any help.Did you, based on the configuration of the Listener in the OEM console, check all properties to make sure you are looking to the right listener?
If so, you might decide to delete the listener from the console and then re-discover it from the Agent's HOme page.

Hi All,
I am using EBS 11.5.10.2 on RHEL4 32bit. It was a fresh installation. After installing, DB services and DB listener are running. But apps listener is not running. When i started with *./adalnctl.sh start apps/apps*, thrwed an error adalnctl.sh: exiting with status 127. I checked in 8.0.6 home/bin. There lsnrctl is not there but lsnrctl0 there. So i copy that and rename to lsnrctl. After that, itried to start with *./adalnctl.sh start apps/apps*, i got an error

./adalnctl.sh start apps/appsYou do not have to pass the apps username/password to start the listener, just issue "adalnctl.sh start APPS_OptDemo".
Linux Error: 111: Connection refusedPlease see if the solution in (Note: 343295.1 - Starting 10gr2 TNS Listener Yields TNS-12541, Linux Error: 111: Connection Refused) is applicable.
