Office 2008 install after Yosemite Clear Install

Just finished a Clear Install of Yosemite IOS.
Trying to install Office 2008 but in vain!
The installer crashes with the following message " the installer can't extract the files from the package for Office 2008"
Any ideas ??

Must be specific to problem with your installation of Office 2008. I have both 2008 & 2011 on my machines (iMac and MBP) both work fine on 10.6.5.
First thing I'd do is check to see if there are any updates of 2008 you may have missed. The most current release is 12.2.7. If you want to check what version you have go to the Applications-Office 2008 folder and click one of the Apps (I chose Excel) and click Command I. Under the General area it will say what version you have. If you have a version prior to 12.2.7 then go to Microsoft's web site and locate the most recent update download and install it. Then restart the machine and try to launch 2008.
If that doesn't do it then I'd recommend posting to the MS Office forum located at:

  • Office 2008 crashes after 10.6.5 install

I just upgraded a computer from 10.5.8 to SL 10.6.5
Everything is working fine except the Office 2008 suite. All the application crash at the splash screen. They all start fine if I start in safe mode. I've cleaned up the fonts, deleted all startup files, run permission repairs, reinstalled...
    any other ideas?

  • Folders disappeared after Yosemite clean install

    Hi
After performing a clean install of Yosemite, I have lost my Music and Pictures folders in Finder. I have redownloaded my purchases from iTunes but it seems they do not live in a folder called Music. How do I get the folder(s) back and how do I make sure the downloads are in that folder and not somewhere else? (I have tried Spotlight and searching in Finder ut they don't find the tracks).
    Thanks

The folder was properly referenced in Preferences.
I re-downloaded purchased music from iTunes and searched for one of them. I managed to open that in Finder and found the folder is there it just wasn't showing in the navigation pane of Finder. I dragged the folder into the navigation pane and now it sits there. The highest level shown to the right is the iTunes folder that sits above iTunes Media, so I think that is correct. But I'm not sure I should have, or need to, drag it like that. Perhaps there is a better way to make it visible in the navigation pane?

  • ILife Missing After Yosemite Clean Install

I have just done a clean install of Yosemite on my MacBook Air that was running Mavericks, but all iLife Applications (iPhoto, GarageBand, etc) are missing and the App Store says I have to purchase them.  How do I get iLife back?

    Hi!
I'm having an almost same problem. I just bought a brand new macbook air and performed the Yosemite clean install, with an USB drive. When I access the AppStore, It tells me that I have to pay for not only iLife apps, but also: Pages, Numbers and Keynote.
This is not correct, right? This apps should be free with my new macbook... and now I can't go back to Mavericks...
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Marcia.

  • "Time machine not configured" after yosemite clean install

I'm on a MBP early 2011, 16gb Ram, Seagate 500gb used to back up with Time Machine. I was doing manual backups once a month. Having wifi problems like everyone else and general slowdowns on the machine even before the regular install of Yosemite (on top of Mountain Lion, on top of Snow Leopard) I decided to do a clean install. Start fresh. Followed all the directions. But,little did I know that by changing my user name (not deliberately) on my brand new OS, I don't have access to TM. At least that's what I think is up with this "TM not configured"
    How should I proceed?
Can I configure the drive now with my new username and still have access to my files? I wanted to bring over some of them, not all of them. If it's possible to do this, and I do, will I have all kinds of permissions or other problems? Will I lose my old backups if I configure it?
Or should I just start over with another kind of clean install? It's only been a couple of days.If I restored from the backup or whatever options there are, am I actually reinstalling the problems I was trying to eliminate? The upgrade to 16gb ram was part of my initial troubleshooting.
    Other options?
    Thanks!

My family upgraded to Yosemite on our 3 Macs four days ago: on an iMac, a MacBook Pro, and a MacBook Air, all three Macs from early 2014.
In Mavericks there was never any trouble with the Time Machine. But now on all three Macs, the TM doesn’t function properly.
    1) on entering TM, the Restore and the two Arrow buttons for selecting the date are dimmed out 90% of the time; nothing can be done, for example, clicking on the Finder folders or files and so on is impossible.
    2) sometimes, however, only the Restore button is dimmed out, or vice versa, only the two Arrow buttons.
    3) on two occasions, no buttons were dimmed out, but on the very first click, all the buttons were again dimmed out
    4) on the iMac and the Mac Book Pro, thank God, the backups still seem to be working; however, on the MacBook Air, a „preparing backup“ message just keeps on running and running.
The TM is a major feature of OS X that Apple pushes hard in its ads. Hopefully this means we’ll soon have an update. As a normal Mac user, I would find it difficult to apply any more exotic workaround solutions that some Mac experts might offer. My patience and ability to troubleshoot doesn’t go much beyond David Pogue’s latest OS X manual.
Anyway, a last more point: the previous TM was a thing of beauty, and I really enjoyed being sort of shot into space with the stars, like Dante on his way to the Empyrean; but now, on entering the TM in Yosemite, it looks like the Finder has fallen into an ugly pool of mud.
Thanks for any help or feedback you can offer.

  • Problem accessing SQL Express 2008 R2 after VS package install

I've written an application package in Visual Studio 2010 which requires SQL Express 2008 R2. I've also created a separate setup package and set SQL Express as a prerequisite. Everything runs as expected except that after the install on target machine
I do not have adequate permissions in SQL to attach the database or set up the user via SQLCMD script. This happens on WIN 7 and up. I know it is a permissions issue with the default install of SQL but do not know how to otherwise perform the install and make
it work. Looking for someone to walk me through and resolve this issue.

    Hi Zanith,
Actually this forum is to discuss the VS IDE issue.
    >> Everything runs as expected except that after the install on target machine I do not have adequate permissions in SQL to attach the database or set up the user via SQLCMD script
Based on your description, the important issue would be related to the permission, as my understanding, it would be related to the SQL Server setup or configuration.
So my suggestion is that you’d better post this issue to the SQL Server forum.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=sqlgetstarted
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/home?forum=sqlexpress
I also found two cases about the SQL Server permission issue.

Alright y'all (jklawmd, Supritha Papannajklawmd, and anyone else having this issue),
I was having this same exact issue, and I actually referred to your post hoping for a fix (that I obviously did not find), however, I did discover a work around!!! I use "Adobe AIR" for my "Pandora One Desktop Application", but every time I opened the installer for "Pandora One" it gave me the same exact error. Here is what I did to fix it (Hoping it helps y'all too):
BEFORE starting ensure that the "AIR Program" that you want to install is downloaded and located in your "Downloads" folder
Uninstall "Adobe AIR" using the included uninstaller (Navigate to your "Utilities" folder in a "New Finder Window" in order to find this, once you're there you can't miss it)
Delete all previous "Adobe AIR" downloads
Download a new "Adobe AIR" Installer from "Adobe" (Sounds redundant I know, but bear with me)
Install "Adobe AIR" using the most recent download
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE "AIR PROGRAM" YET
Once the "Adobe AIR" Installation is complete navigate to "File" and select "New Finder Window"
Once there select the "Applications" folder from the menu bar on the left of the window (Should be under "Favorites")
Navigate to your "Utilities" Folder (Again)
Locate the icon for "Adobe AIR Application Installer" and open it; This will open a new window
Once the new window is open, navigate to your "Downloads" folder and locate the "AIR Program" that you want to install select the "AIR Program" and click "Open" (Bottom right hand corner)
    TaDa!!!
Following those steps should culminate in the initialization of the install process for the program that you weren't able to install before, and from there it is business as usual (selecting and answering to the necessary install prompts for the "AIR Program"). It seems like there is a glitch somewhere between "Yosemite" and "Adobe AIR" that prevents the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" from auto-running properly when you try to open the sub-program. However, initializing the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" FIRST allows it to get up and running before the sub-program communicates with it. This fixed it for me right away, please let me know whether it works for your specific "Adobe AIR"/"AIR Program" set, if not I will download your "AIR Program" and see if I can't find another way. Also, has anyone contacted either Adobe Support or Apple Support directly with this yet??
I hope this helps, personally, I don't know where I would be without my "Pandora One Desktop Application"!!!

  • After Yosemite clean install apps were there

Hi there, today I did a clean install of my iMac, I erased completely the HDD, and I did install from the USB drive, Everything went ok with the Mac, and I did all the apps installations ok.
    Except...
    Adobe CC
After download de Adobe CC desktop App Installer, I did installed it Then I entered my credentials I went to install the apps and there were 4 apps already there, Lightroom 5, Adobe Muse, Edge Inspect and Edge Reflow, Apps that I barely Use, except for Muse.
The apps don't open, the apps can not be removed, any ideas?
    Thank you

No I was setting up new computer from scratch.
That was probably the reason why iCloud deleted my data on iPad.

  • Office 2008 12.3.2 update install error

Unable to install the above update, either from the AutoUpdater or downloading the dmg file. Tried booting in Safe Mode, same result (Install failed). Have read that this is not PPC compatible and the workaround is to modify the 'preflight' script in the Resources folder. Tried, but could not save within the package (wouldn't overwrite). Anyone able to confirm this compatability or lack of for starters?

Just curious: did you do the update in question when running Leopard on the PPC G4?  The application in the updater that handles the task of making sure that no other applications are running ("QuitApps") has in its Info.plist:
    <key>LSMinimumSystemVersion</key>
              <string>10.5</string>
    <key>LSRequiresNativeExecution</key>
              <true/>
which makes me think it must be the case.  When running 10.4 on PPC, and clicking directly on the QuitApps icon (deep inside the package), I get the same error message as when running the installer.  (I also note that the icon for QuitApps.app is from the same family of icons as used in Office Mac 2011, which will not run on PPC.)
I encountered failures as described by the OP on two PPC machines running Tiger, and no problems with two machines running SnowLeopard.  I was able to install on the PPC machines without any problems by hacking the script referred to by the OP.  Why he was not successful escapes me, unless he was trying to modify the installer on a mounted disk image rather than a local copy.

I am puzzled by the meaning of iMac (Intel) as I use an iMac 2 period.  I am running Mac : Office 2004 and do all my quotations in Excel.  After upgrading to OS X LION,  I am suddenly unable to SAVE my spreadsheets.  As a salesman whose quotations need frequent updating,  my situation is perilous to say the least.  Can anyone help me ?

Office for Mac 2004 is NOT compatible with Lion. It must be upgraded to Office for Mac 2008 or 2011, once you have upgraded the files will be accessable. Office for Mac 2004 is written for old PPC (Power PC) based machines. Beginning with Lion support for PPC based apps has been dropped.

  • WIndows won't install after inital DOS install...

So I have looked over these message boards and haven't seen my particular problem:
After I run Boot Camp, I put in my Windows XP SP 3 disk, and everything seems to work fine. The ugly, blue windows install window opens, and ask for the install location and what file system to use (FAT32, right?) and everything goes through. But then, when the computer reboots to do the final install where you enter your CD key and set up everything, I get an error. The computer does this; it reboots, then it displays the "Press any key to boot from CD...." thing, then when it should load the final install, the error: "Disk error" is displayed and below that it says, Press any key to reboot, but my system is frozen and stuck.
At first I thought it was my HDD, but I have installed 2 new ones and nothing. Then I thought it was my install CD, but I have tried 3 different copies, of 2 different XPs (both SP 3) and still nothing.
All this started happening about the time Snow Leopard came out. I don't remember exactly when, but I know I had installed Snow Leopard, then my mac stopped working, so I reformatted and then I was unable to install XP altogether.
Is it Snow Leopard, or is it because it is XP SP 3?

    Hi,
sounds like you didn't reformat the Windows partition during the Windows installation like the BootCamp Setup Guide tells: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1722
    Hope it helps

  • App Store Uninstalled Apps Showing as Installed After Clean OSX Install

Anyone know how to fix this?
Did a clean Mountain Lion install on Mac Pro. Two apps show as installed (Twitter and Wunderlist) after the install, and they are most defintiely not installed, though I would like them to be ...

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
The Mac App Store (MAS) can see its apps installed on mounted partitions and ext/int HDDs. Is there a backup of your previous installation mounted on your Mac with these two apps? If so, that is why the MAS sees them as installed.
    Two ways to get the apps on your reinstall of Mt Lion;
    1. Locate the apps on the mounted drive and drag & drop the apps to the Apps folder on your Mt Lion boot drive
    2. Dismount the mounted drive with the apps, so the MAS doesn't see them and download them again from your list on the Purchased pane

  • OFFICE 2008 problems after 10.5.2. update

    Hello,
I got severe problems with powerpoint after the last leopard update.
Powerpoint is extremely slow during start-up and the presentations do not go fluid anymore. You click, you wait and hopefully see the next slide.
Permission correction did not change anything.
Always this spinning wheel and definitely you here also from the hard drive noise that there is a problem. It got **** slow but before everything went superb.
Anyone else having the same problem?
    Suggestions?
    thank you

I also have this problem, and it is seriously frusterating. Just got my macbook 2 months ago, and 2008 office, and I run powerpoint presentations for work. Well, every time I get halfway through, my mac completely shuts down. It must be from overheating cuz it is burnin' to touch it. Will extra ram fix this at all? 2 or 4ghz? Anyone tested with more memory than my 1 gig?
