Office 2010 Proofing Language

Hello,
we have a few terminal servers all installed with Office 2010 Std. Default Proofing language is English but that certain client has users from multiple countries. I want to add more language (proofing - Grammar, Spelling etc), French is going ok (is installed)
but i also want to add Dutch and German.
Where can i download these language packs for Office 2010 and can these be downloaden free?

Hi Emiel,

  • Office 2010 Proofing Tools - Language appears as not installed

    Hi everyone,
let me start by saying that I have searched throughout Google and especially these forums and still haven't found a solution to my problem. We have purchased (at work) 7 new PCs with Windows 7 (64-bit) Office 2010 AND Proofing Tools already installed. To
cut a long story short, I've gone through the Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and added the Greek Language (Run From my Computer). After that completes successfully, when I go in the Office 2010 Language Preferences the Greek Language Proofing Tools
still show up as Not Installed.
I've tried all the suggestions in the forum (Registry tweaks, Control Panel) but nothing works. I have seen other users with this issue in various forums and I would really appreciate if anyone can provide any suggestions on it.
Thank you very much for your time.

Same problem here. I've just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, so I had to reinstall all of my software, including Office 2010 English language with added Italian proofing tools. Of course, when I reistalled, my Italian proofing tools were gone. I
clicked on the link found under the options\language menu ("not installed") and downloaded "Italian Proofing Tools 2013", which installed correctly (they show up in my Installed Programs). Unfortunately, Word still won't recognise the Italian
proofing tools, even though I've followed all of the previous instructions (keyboard layout enabled etc.). Can you kindly provide help? It worked perfectly under Windows 7. I'd like to clarify that I don't need the whole Language Pack, just the Proofing Tools.
    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am having a very hard time attempting to install Office 2010 Pro Plus on a system.  The error message that I receive is as follows:
The language of this installation package is not supported by your system.
I have tried running the Microsoft FixIt tool to remove any traces of Office 2007 and Office 2010.  Also, I have followed the instructions in

I believe the user had both Office 2007 and Office 2010 installed previously.  There is no article to remove all traces of Office 2010.

  • Different proofing languages for new mail & replies in Outlook 2010

I have recently been upgraded to Windows 7 & Office 2010 at work.  My biggest frustration (currently) is the proofing language used by Outlook.  I have managed to set my proofing language to English (Canada) finally (for a while it insisted
on German (Switzerland) with an interesting brief deviation to Portuguese (Brazil) for some reason) for new messages.  I have moved my custom dictionary over from my old computer & it works fine.  Unfortunately, try as I might, I cannot get my
proofing language for REPLIES to use English (Canada).  It insists on English (US) and won't use my custom dictionary.
    Suggestions?

    Hi sheilad58,
    Have you read this documents?
Switch between different languages by setting the proofing language

  • Add Dutch proofing tools to my English Office 2010 installation

    Hi,
I'd like to to download and install the dutch proofing tools for my Office 2010 installation on windows XP SP3 32 bit. I have an MSDN Premium subscription. Can someone tell me how to proceed?
The link in MSWord to install the proofing tools (Review->Language->Language Preferences->Dutch "not installed link" direct me to a download for the beta version., so this approach i have tried and does not work.
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

Do we have an estimate date for these, many of us using msdn are earlyadopters and consultants and the proofing tools are a vital addition to writing good reports and specs and so on. In office 2010 there isnt possible to install the proofing tools from
another language any longer(This has been possible in previous versions, now the installer complains). Many of use also use english os and english office and so on, but need the language support for other languages.
please hurry up with the release,(cant you release different languages as they become available?)
    Thanks
I installed Office 2010 Dutch over my existing English installation yesterday, and now I have Dutch proofing tools available in my English installation. I do not have to switch languages to have the Dutch proofing tools available, I can just work in an English
Word. So this should work the same for you.Ruud van Strijp - Network Infrastructure Design in the Netherlands. MCSE: 70-270, 70-284, 70-290, 70-291, 70-294, 70-297. Cisco: CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP.

  • Step by Step Procedure on How to Add a Language Pack to Office 2010 Before Deployment

I'm curious to know if there exists a Microsoft approved method of adding a language pack to Office 2010 prior to packaging for Configuration Manager 2010?  I have source Office 2010 Standard files, I have source French language pack files, I have a
.msp file and a .prf file and if possible I'd like to add them together before I create a package/application in Configuration Manager 2012 R2.  I found
    this.
Has anyone done this before?  Am I going about this the wrong way?

Yes, this is very much possible to integrate any Office language pack along with standard office files to create a single application in SCCM.
Please refer below link to get the complete details.

  • Office 2010 Language settings not taking effect

I am rolling out Windows 7 and Office 2010 to different locations around the world.
One thing I have noticed is that Office 2010 is defaulting to English (UK) in all of the offices we have around the world. I have checked the Default input language settings under Text services
and input languages and it is set correctly, i.e for the US this is set to English (United States). I have gone into word and checked File\Options\Language and under Choose editing languages the default is set to the Windows input language on the machine,
i.e for the US this is set to English US <default>. However in the bar across the bottom of Word, the language is set to English (UK) and spelling etc is all English UK. The only way I can change the language is to open a Word doc, type some characters
and then click on the English (UK) at the bottom of Word and then change is to English US. It then changes to English US at the bottom of Word, however when I close Word and open it again, the language is set back to UK.
What I am really wanting to do is control all this by Group policy so a US user gets US language in Word so they get US spellchecker and someone in the UK gets UK language in Word and UK spell
checker etc. As I said, group policy is setting the correct language for the machine, under Word the default is set to use the input language, under File\Options\Language the default editing language is set correctly (to the windows input language), but still
the language bar in Word defaults to English UK all the time.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Please click on the English(US) at the bottom of Word, then appear dialogue box. Set English(US) as default.
Don’t tick the checkbox of option “detect language automatically”.
As is shown in the below graph.
Restart Word and check the result. Thanks.

  • Proofing language for new mails is always "English UK" though default is German

I have Office 2013 Professional Plus installed, English version with German language pack. As "Editing Languages" I have configured German and English, with German the default one.
Still, when I create a new e-mail and start to type, all the German words are highlighted because the proofing language is set to "English". Even when I create a new, empty e-mail and go directly to "Review", "Proofing Language",
it is set to "English (UK)".
Other users (using Office 2010) are reporting the same issue. How can this be changed?

Is this only occurs to Outlook (both 2010 and 2013) ? How about Word?
Check if the users are using custom Stationery, if so, remove the custom Stationery and check if the behaivor still persists.
Normally, we can find the custom Stationery under the following location:

  • Default proofing language has no effect.

    Hi.
I'm using Word 2010, and when I click the Spelling & Grammar button, it says the dictionary language is set to French (Canada), even though I've set the proofing language as English (Canada) on default.  What can I do to make it proof my documents
    in Canadian English?
I live in London, Ontario, so I know it can't be my location that keeps changing it.
Any help would appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi,
You should clear the "Detect language automatically" option, in the Language dialog box (Review tab>Language>Set Proofing Language). This will help to prevent Word from changing the language.
Also, when you set the proofing language, do you see the language is preceded by the
Spelling & Grammar icon? If no, it means the dictionary for that language is not available and you cannot check the spelling and grammar for that language (the default proofing language that you set will not be reflected there in this case):

    Win 7 (64-bit)
The current certification matrix seems to say this is supported, however I am having the following problem:
    1. I have an existing RTF template, with data template that works. I have run it to be sure, and can view output and verify.
    2. If Iopen that RTF template in BIP Desktop, then remove a field, and then using the field browser ( or insert > field ) add that same field back, or a new one the report will not generate output.
Upload the RTF, and the process will finish with status warning, and it fails during post processing. I look at the Output Post Processor error. edit the RTF template with a text editor and see that instead of putting in a <?YOUR_FIELDNAME?> BIP Desktop has instead inserting something similar to the following: <?ref:xdo0001?>. The only solution I currently have is to manually change these tags, however for large BIP reports this is cumbersome, and unacceptable for a long term solution.
Is there a workaround? or reported bug? I couldn't find anything on MOS for this.
Here's the OPP log, you can see the error points to the "REF" element that was added by BIP:Desktop.

  • Office 2010 MUI in Finnish and Save and Send function not working after upgrading to Lync 2013 MUI

Problem is as follows. Used to have Office 2010, Outlook 2010 and Lync 2010, everything was working. People used it in Finnish and seemly quite a many of them used the Talleta ja lähetä (Save and Send in Finnish) in Office products.
After upgrading Lync to 2013 version, with Finnish language pack installed with it, the Save and send does not work in Office 2010 if it is used with Finnish as display language. When you try to use it you get a Mapi error and reason is undefined or something,
hard to say what it is exactly in english as the error message is in finnish. On those machines if the display language is changed back to english the Save and send works as it should.
    Any ideas?

The problem was caused by the Language Packs for Lync 2013 or Office 2013. Without them all works.
And if you want to just unisntall the 2013 lang packs, then you also need to repair install the office 2010 ones to make it work again.

  • Is it possible to recreate Office 2010 FTAs if publishing only shortcuts in App-V 5 SP2?

    Greetings,
I am trying to sequence only shortcuts for locally installed office 2010 to be used in connection groups with combinations of add-ins utilizing user targeting. Package with shortcuts work fine, however when I try to add file type associations (FTAs) the
result is quite poor. Double click on file with registered extension seems to be triggering the shortcut but not with desired result from the office application (excel is started without opening the file being clicked, Outlook is starting instead of opening
    the msg file, etc)
Is it possible to publish only shortcuts and achieve full functionality of FTAs as they would normally work in office? What is the best/recommended way to go about it?
I have tried exporting registry keys from HKEY_Classes_Root, HKLM\Software\RegisteredApplications, HK??\Software\Microsoft\[Appname]\Capabilities and few others and import them in the package but wasn't able to get the sequencer to recognize the FTAs and
adding it manually doesn't achieve the desired result
Environment: App-V 5 SP2 with hotfix 5, windows 7 64bit stateless VDI (xendesktop), full app-v infrastructure (no sccm), shared content store
    Any help/direction will be appreciated

    Thank you for your reply
Your suggestion (office globally, add-in user published in CG) would be one of the options. As with all the others it doesn't appear to be a clean way of doing it as App-V server infrastructure is not supported. That will mean manually creating
(and updating) xml files, using login scripts etc to make it happen. All the others have similar limitation. (This is where I urge MS to re-think their office add-in support and improve it in next version/update.) All that is provided I get buy in for virtualizing
office in the first place. There is quite a reluctance at that (myself included) but that is a different topic.
As for the other people that may be looking to do something similar. It is possible (though not straightforward) to achieve this (using file extensions to open apps inside appv bubble) This may not be the best way to do it but I have found it to work so
    I will share it.
file extensions are stored in the registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (among other places). Example .xlsx. Underneath that particular key there are subkeys (either openwithprogids or progid/long key itself example: Excel.Sheet.12 - more information on that
bing search for "msdn cc144148" as I am unable to post links at this time). Same ProgIDs/long names are defined again in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (HKCR\Excel.Sheet.12). Under that key there should be shell key with one or more commands (open, edit, etc).
Yet another subkey called command will reveal the executable called for the extension (example: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command). Default property shows clear text command, command property shows the same command possibly with different
encoding (example for excel: xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ /dde)
This is the place where I tested adding the appvve:/guid_guid switch and it worked.
Hint: searching registry for particular command (xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ) helps revealing all location that need changing per application. In my example there were 61 locations for excel alone. Powershell is really helpful
with that. Search registry script bing search "Searching the Registry with PowerShell Bill Stewart" (another hint: use [regex]::escape(xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ))
Since you will probably have more than one combination of add-ins like me you want to use connection groups. If you want to use this option you have to use only one connection group for a particular user for the same file extension. Login script can be used
to set the proper /appvve switch on the fly every time user logs on)
As I mentioned in the beginning it is neither clean nor simple but it is possible. example script code used for proof of concept (all registry locations are listed in office_keys.txt instead of searching to speed up processing. Format is registry location
on a line by itself example: "HKCR:\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command" . Connection group published to user starts with "office". Change as needed)
New-PSDrive -PSProvider Registry -Name HKCR -Root HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    $officeKeys = Get-Content .\office_keys.txt
    $cg = Get-AppvClientConnectionGroup office*
    If ($cg) {
    $appvve = "$($cg.GroupID)_$($cg.VersionID)"
    foreach ($key in $OfficeKeys) {
    $command = get-itemproperty $key.ToString() "command"|select -ExpandProperty command
    if ($command -notmatch "appvve") { $command = $command + " /appvve:$appvve"}
Set-ItemProperty -Path $key.ToString() -Name Command -type MultiString -Value $command
