Office 2010 Workgroup Templates

Dear Community,
We are currently having an issue where the clients are closing outlook and reciving a popup to save NormalEmail.dotm.
The users do not have a normalemail.dotm file located under %appdata%\Microsoft\templates folder and when we add the file there this issue seems to disappear.
the users workgroup templates in winword is an FQDN (\\Server\Share\) and not a mapped drive.
Could someone please answer the following questions
1. is the normalemail.dotm file loaded from the user templates path or the workgroup templates path?
2. does the user require write access permissions to the folder that the normalemail.dotm is located ?
3. is normalemail.dotm required in %appdata%\microsoft\templates ?
thank you in advance

as stated
"The users do not have a normalemail.dotm file located under %appdata%\Microsoft\templates folder
The users workgroup templates are located on a network drive which is read only.
yes they do have access to their own profile path's

  • Using SharePoint 2013 Document Library for Office 2010 Workgroup Templates

    Dear all,
we are about to introduce SharePoint 2013 and are looking for a way to use it as location for our Office 2010 workgroup templates. But when I try to configure it with in Word options it tells me that URLs are not allowed here.
I've searched this forum but saw no thread that has a solution so far.
So I just want to know if anyone implemented this feature or even has an idea that could work...
    Thank you in advance,
    Uwe

    Hi,
Based on my tested in my environment ( Word 2010 & Share Point 2013), we can't point to the SharePoint library URL directly with Workgroup Templates.
    Please try the workaround:
Sync the SharePoint site libraries to local disk.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/sync-onedrive-for-business-or-sharepoint-site-libraries-to-your-computer-HA102832401.aspx
Set the Workgroup Template to a local drive (to create the reg key)
Open regedit and set the location to the mapped drive:
    Setting Name: SharedTemplates (Type REG_SZ)
    Reg Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General

  • Office 2010 Administrative Templates - Missing Policies

I have an Office 2010 GPO that needs to enable a policy called "Disable username and password" located at:
Computer Configuration --> Admistrative Templates --> Microsoft Office 2010 (Machine) --> IE Settings
It seems that policy, and any policy that should be there, does not exist.
I have added the admistrative template (.adm) files  for the Office 2010 32-bit version. I have even added the .admx files to \\mydomain\sysvol\mydomain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions as well as added .adml files to "" ""\en-us.
Is there a step that I missed? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jasmin

    Hi Jasmin,
Before going further, I want to confirm where we got the administrative template files. Besides, we can follow the path of the central store to open
the admx file of Office 2010 to check whether some files are missing.
Regarding Administrative Template files for Office 2010, the following article can be referred to for more information.

  • How to setup Word 2010 Workgroup Templates location with Office 2010 Customization Tool

I can't seem to find it under Modify Users Settings, Microsoft Word 2010, Word Options, Advanced, and File Locations.
    Is it configured somewhere else?

    Hi,
As we know, the workgroup templates file location are controlled by the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General\[SharedTemplates]
The workgroup templates location will change after you change the string value of the registry key. We could deploy it via OCT directly.

  • Office 2010 from template

Just downloaded the eval version of 9.0.1 to try it out.
I figured I'd start with something easy, from a Template. Office 2010 seemed like a good candidate.
I installed Office 2010 on a clean machine, then generated the virtual app using the template.
But when I launch the .exe (even on the same machine where I created it), I get "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 - The application was unable to load a required component: MSVCR90.DLL. Please contact the publisher of this application for more information."
    Any ideas?

  • Hiding Workgroup Template folder in Office 2013

    Hi,
It was suggested that this may be an appropriate forum for asking the following question
I have the following setup... In Group Policy (Computer Configuration) I copy the corporate Templates to the WorkGroup Templates folder on every PC (under Default\appData).  We also have a personal templates folder (under %USERNAME%\appData).
The workgroup templates are available in both the workgroup and users personal templates folder.
When a user creates a new file in WORD or Excel they are presented with 2 templates folders.  Is there anyway of hiding the Workgroup Templates folder and just showing the user their personal templates folder? (I want to keep the Workgroups templates
folder, I just do not want to display it in WORD)
Or should I just try to rename the templates folders so they can be distinguished from each other
    Thanks

    Hi,
As per the description, I understand that you've copied your corporate templates into the WorGroup Templates folder, and now you would like to hide this folder to users but keep the templates/folder. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
I have tested this on my own machine, to hide this folder to users, you'll need to clean the location for
Workgroup template in FILE>Options>Advanced>File Locations... button under
    General section.
We are not able to clean this directly in Word, but we can do this by modifying the registry key or using GPO:
    1) Clean the value of this registry key directly for each user:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\General\SharedTemplates
    2) Group policy for this is: User Configuration\Microsoft Office 2013\Shared paths\workgroup templates path
    Hope it helps.

  • XL Reporter & templates in Office 2010

I'm having troubles with opening XL Reporter reports using a pre-defined .xlt template in Office 2010.
In the Report Composer -> Generate -> select the report.  -> Action -> Generate Report -> tick the 'Use Excel Template' tick box.  Click OK.
A window pops open & I can see my .xlt template, click Ok & I get an error message saying "...".xlt' could not be found.  Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct...'.
Do these xlt templates need to be in a special place for XL Reporter to use them?  I have been creating the templates & just saving them in the default location.
    We are running 2007A (8.00.181) SP:00 PL: 47.

xltx is the extension for Excel 2010 templates.  xlt is the extension for 2003 Excel templates.
I saved the template as .xlt & it seemed to work, so thanks for that.  However I understood that XL Reporter was compatible with Excel 2010?  Obviously we can open 2003 Excel files in 2010, but then we loose some of the 2010 functionality which is unfortunate.
Are the any updates to XL Reporter or SBO that would solve this (eg SBO 2008?)?
anyway thanks again - we have a work around that will suffice for now.

  • I am unable to see the created AD RMS Templates office 2010

    Hi,
We have a SBS 2011 server (AD, exchange, DNS, ...etc) and a File server 2008 R2.

    -We run the task scheduler.
    -We create the registry key:

          HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\DRM  for office 2007clients
On all MS 2007 client hasn't any problems but on all MS 2010 has a problem that: "unable to see the created AD RMS Templates.
    Please advise,

[email protected] to acceleratre our communication.

    Hi,
We need to check the templates in the path: C:\Users\martinr\AppData\Local\Microsoft\DRM\Templates
    first.
Then, if you use 32-bit editions of Office running on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, please try the following command:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\<version>\Common\DRM.
Following this, I recommond do the two methods:
The permission policy path in the ADMX file is setup to use EDITTEXT (Regular Reg_sz), instead of EXPANDABLETEXT (REg_Expand_Sz).
The policy template is setup out of the box expects a static path (i.e. c:\templates, and cannot use %localappdata%\Microsoft\DRM\Templates)

  • Office 2010 Template - Error 0x80070645

I created an Office 2010 Professional Plus virtual app using the Office 2010 Template from ZAV 10.
It works fine when I launch Office from the executable.
However, when I launch it indirectly by double-clicking a .docx or .xlsx file, this message appears: "The applicate has encountered an error. This action is only valid for the products that are currently installed. (0x80070645)"
I am using Spoonreg.exe to register the virtual app.
I get the above error on both XP and Windows 7.
There was a forum thread a few years ago about fixing this issue for Office 2003 and Office 2007. I wonder if anybody knows how to fix it for Office 2010?
    Thank you.

I don't have Office 2010 to test with, so can't offer much help in getting that working, but I'm wondering if you can use ZAV to build an MSI for this? Usually, spoonreg is the better option, but an MSI might actually work better here.
What OS did you use to template Office 2010? 32-bit or 64-bit? Does that match the OS you're using to test?

  • AD RMS Issue on MS Office 2013 & Workgroup workstations

    Dear All,
    I've been trying to test DRM server with an internal database by distributing templates manually while triggering task scheduler on each clients PC's. Below are some of the issue which I'm facing;
I'm planning to expand this externally so that users can connect to the DRM from outside. Will this work by using an internal database & how am I suppose to achieve this
One user who has signed into his surface using a gmail account though the PC is connected to the domain. User cannot open a protected IRM document as the error says to open one.
I'm currently adding an expanded registry value pointing the DRM templates location for MS office 2010 users who're on windows 7. I do not know how to apply these to work with the automated task scheduler using a group policy where the available steps on
    microsoft site is pretty confusing.
For office 2013 users, at initial step it gets the templates from the DRM server while trying to open a IRM protected document. But the problem is that still I'm pushing templates through task scheduler manually.
How am I suppose to over come this as this has been a big hassle for me to fix such issues. Also, which URL should I add to the template for a user to request permission when he/she doesn't have the privileged to open a document. Also, I cannot access IIS
server to request/view license as I'm receiving below error.

The 25004 is normally associated with trying to re-installa trial on a machine that has had that trial installed. But you say that is not the case
Did you just click "Run" directly when you try the Fixit tool? The Fix It tool
might not work if you click "Run" directly, Please try to save the Fix it tool locally and then use it. Even if you think you don't have Microsoft Office installed, run it anyways.
You might also need to try the manual removal steps given in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501? If you’ve tried only the Fixit so far, try the manual removal steps now. Then restart and reinstall.

    BIP Deskotop 11.1.1.6 (32-bit)
    Office 2010 (32-bit)
    Win 7 (64-bit)
The current certification matrix seems to say this is supported, however I am having the following problem:
    1. I have an existing RTF template, with data template that works. I have run it to be sure, and can view output and verify.
    2. If Iopen that RTF template in BIP Desktop, then remove a field, and then using the field browser ( or insert > field ) add that same field back, or a new one the report will not generate output.
Upload the RTF, and the process will finish with status warning, and it fails during post processing. I look at the Output Post Processor error. edit the RTF template with a text editor and see that instead of putting in a <?YOUR_FIELDNAME?> BIP Desktop has instead inserting something similar to the following: <?ref:xdo0001?>. The only solution I currently have is to manually change these tags, however for large BIP reports this is cumbersome, and unacceptable for a long term solution.
Is there a workaround? or reported bug? I couldn't find anything on MOS for this.
Here's the OPP log, you can see the error points to the "REF" element that was added by BIP:Desktop.

  • Connect to MS Office button is Grayed out - for both Office 2010 and Office 2013

    Hi
I have recently implemented Sharepoint 2013 Standard for a customer.
I have got everything to work so far except one important thing, from any Ms Word or Ms Excel application save as SharePoint is missing. While having a closer look I noticed that Connect to Office button is grayed out in SharePoint.
During the initial setup, I created the site collection using Team Site template under collaboration. All researching is pointing me to user profile setup with my site host under enterprise section in site collection.
I have confirmed that the clients are opening sharepoint from 32bit browser and they have sharepoint handler add on enabled in IE. I have also followed the below guide
    https://mywinsysadm.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/sharepoint-connect-to-office-for-new-document-creation/
However, I cant actually see any user profile feature as the guide suggests, I can only see "create personal site" under manage profile service section.
I have searched & searched and I am not finding any solutions to this problem.
can someone point me to the right direction please? is it purely because the site collection is not a My site Host?
All I need is for users with Office 2010 or Office 2013 to be able to save a document directly in sharepoint.
Note - Connect is outlook is working fine though.

    Hi jawad,
As navigating to a SharePoint Library and clicking 'Connect to Office', the link to document library is added to
http://[mysites]/_layouts/15/MyQuickLinks.aspx. So, you need to make sure you have your personal site.
After creating your personal site, please visit
http://[mysites]/_layouts/15/MyQuickLinks.aspx, check whether it can open well.
More information about creating MySite, you can refer to:
    http://blog.sharedove.com/adisjugo/index.php/2012/07/25/visual-guide-setting-up-my-sites-in-sharepoint-2013/
Then go to IE Options->Programs->manage add-ons, make sure all add-ons related to SharePoint are enabled.
