Office 2013 ActiveX Controls no Popup

Hello,
I am testing the active x control settings, but I don´t get a popup message for active x. I have enabled the option to promt me before active x code is executed, but its working without any popup. If I disable active x control the occurs the excepted behave
that no active x code is  executed. For testing I have created only a simple active x control with some vba code for a msgbox.
So my question is, under which
circumstances the popup message for active x appears?
Thanks.

If the Trust Center detects a potentially unsafe ActiveX control , the control is disabled, and the Message Bar appears to notify you of a potentially unsafe ActiveX control. Depends on how the ActiveX control is marked and whether a VBA project exists in
the file together with the ActiveX control.

  • Office 2013 ActiveX Controls not working

    Hello,
We have two users that are not able to interact with any ActiveX controls in a Word document. When they try to  put a check mark in a check box, the whole object gets surrounded by a box like it does when you have it in design mode. Design mode is not
enables and double clicking the object does not bring up Visual Basic. This occurs no matter who is logged into the PC.
I have deleted all files that end in .exd and even ran the MS Fix it tool that does the same. I ran the Office repair tool, both quick and online, and even uninstalled office and re-installed it. None of this
has fixed the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Try deleting one of the checkboxes and place a new one see if it will work then. Or do set the form in design mode, save the document, open it again and place it back in form mode then try again. Do you have code behind the document?

  • Office 2013 Suppress Default File Type Popup

    Hello,
during evaluation for Office 2013 we get this popup at the first start. We have configured the default file types for word, excel and powerpoint to .doc-File Format via GPO. Can we disable this Popup via GPO or the OCT-Wizard?
I have found some Posts to disable the Popup via registry, but we wouldn´t like to set entrys for this popup in the registry, if its possiable to disable the popup via GPO or OCT.

Looks like this is a known issue that we have no way to suppress this dialog, even forced the default file type for Office applications, the box still appears.

  • App-V 5 SP2 and Office 2013 Pro Plus

    Hi
We have a terminal environment (RDS) of 20 servers and have implemented App-V 5 SP2 in it and deployed Office 2013 to it.
We don't publish Office 2013 globally because not all users are supposed to get Office 2013.
We have 2 different deployment configurations (XML's) that are configured to universal groups and the user's are members of that depending on which configuration they are supposed to have.
Now the problem, when we log a user onto the RDS and he is a member of one of the Office group he get's the Office packages and the Integrator runs and "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" cpl is created in Control panel and everything works fine.
When the user logs off and on again and goes to another server in our farm he gets the Office packages but no integrator runs and there is no "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" in control panel.
But if the users happens to log on to the same server as he landed in first place then he has access to "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" in control panel.
We are using network load balance and session broker for our farm.
The office 2013 was sequenced as the instructions said and no extra features or addons where implemented.
    Best Regards Kristjan R. Halldorsson

    Hello,
It is only supported if you publish the package globally and since you aren't publishing globally this is most likely the reason you have issues.

  • Office 2013 keeps asking for updates

    Hi guys,
Looked around but can't seem to find anything for this. Have a user on office 2013. Win7. Any time he opens up any office application he has a message saying the software needs updating. If we click OK, we get the message saying we are all up to date. If
we close the application down and open it again, or another office app, the update message is back!
Any way to get rid of this?
    Thanks

Is your Office a Click-To-Run version or a MSI (traditional) version?
If it’s a MSI version, please go to Windows Update and check if you have installed all updates for Office. If you have all updates installed, and issue still occurs, please try to repair your Office 2013 from Control Panel.
If it’s a Click-To-Run version of Office 2013, by default, Click-to-Run will automatically check for updates in the background. Please retry the update check by disabling and then re-enabling updates in:
    File->Account->Update Options.
Also, if you have specified an UpdatePath in the Configuration.xml while deploying Office 2013, please make sure you have an updated source in that path:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426(v=office.15).aspx#BKMK_UpdatesElement
If updates still do not work, follow these steps to do an Online Repair:
    1.Go to Control Panel
    2.Click Programs and Features tab
3.Click on Microsoft Office, then Change
    4.Click on Online Repair
    5.Click on Repair

  • Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
    Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

    Hi George,
Thank you for checking this out ... :)
    I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
    I found the
mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
As I mentioned above, I followed
the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

  • Office 2013 64Bit on WIN 8.1 64bit MAIL control panel

Hey guys I found out that after installing Office 2013 home and business (64bit office only) on a windows 8.1 pro 64bit the mail options in the control panel will not open or come up to create new profiles. This seems to only happen with the 64bit version
of office 2013 on windows 8.1.
I think this only happens after already configuring a exchange account rebooting and then trying to open mail from the control panel. it doesn't seem to matter if you are a admin or not. For the time being those with the same issue as me just remove the
old profile from the registry or make changes to the profile via the registry
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profile
again this is only an issue on the 64bit version of office 32bit works fine
    http://WrinkleFreeIT.com/

    Backup up your registry first.
This is impossible to fathom a new install of Windows 8.1 with Office 2013 and the control panel mail app will not open. Client believes you're a complete dill!
The problem we needed to solve was to create 2 exchange email accounts with profile options on outlook start up. We couldn't create the second account while outlook was running and control panel mail would not respond.
This is how it worked for me. Created the first email account by starting outlook and providing the account information during the initial setup of the exchange account.
But what about the second account. Have to start the mail from control panel.
    Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office15.0\Outlook
Select DefaultProfile and delete the name of the profile.
    Next navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\
Create a Key and name it Client
Navigate to Client and create a key and name it Options
In Options add a new String Value and name it PickLogonProfile
Press Enter and set the value to 1
Start Outlook and you will be prompted to select a profile or create a new profile. Hooray!
If there are any corrupt profiles that present while selecting a profile in outlook, then navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\outlook\Profiles and delete corrupted profiles.
    Good Luck.

"We're sorry, but Microsoft Office has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly.  Microsoft Office will need to be closed as a result.  Wou you like us to repair now?"
I close the error window and everything seems to work correctly.  There is no other message and iCould Control Panel is not giving me any help.

  • Mail x64 Control Panel Broken, Can't Install Office 2013 SP1 to Fix It - HELP NEEDED

I have the dreaded broken Mail x64 Control Panel that doesn't work after installing Office 2013 Home and Business on a Windows 8.1 Pro computer.  This was a fresh installation, yet Microsoft still has an ancient disk image on their Office.com website
for download.  The version is 15.0.4433.1507.  It's from 2012!  I don't understand the purpose of having people download something if you are not even going to keep it up to date, and have them download programs which you know are broken.
    Strike 1.
Another thread said to update Office 2013.  Easier said than done.  Windows Update won't do it, even if Windows Update is manually told to search for updates.  Strike 2.
Another thread said to disable updates inside an office program (File, Account, Update Options).  Then Enable it, and updating should start immediately.  Nope.  Strike 3.
Same thread said if the above didn't work, to go to Uninstall Programs, and run a Repair of Office 2013.  Did that, and then it wanted the Product Key again.  Gave it the product key, it put a green check mark next to it signifying it was good,
and then when I clicked next, it said it couldn't activate it.  I clicked the Repair button, and the program closed.  Strike 4.
I uninstalled, and reinstalled Office 2013.  I downloaded the Office 2013 Service Pack 1 x64, and ran it.  It gives the error message "There are no products affected by this package installed on the system".  How could that be?
Article ID 2850036 says specifically that it applies to "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013".  Since when can't you install Service Packs? Strike 5.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
The issue may occur if the registry entries are corrupted or missing. Usually, repair the Office suite from control panel can fix the issue.
For your case, I would suggest you to run Microsoft Fix It tool (or follow the
manual steps listed in follow article
) to uninstall Office 2013 completely from your computer, then do a re-installation and verify the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us
If you are able to login to
www.office.com/myaccount, then you can get the latest Office installation file there.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please have a try and feel free to post back.

  • App-V 5 SP2 and Office 2013 - How to control user access?

What is the best way to control access to the Office 2013 application shortcuts?

  • SharePoint Document Upload Control and Office 2013

Couple of users are using SharePoint 2010 site on Windows 7 via internet explorer 9. They are seeing a red X in the upload control. I checked and they are not using 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer.
Tehy recently got upgraded to Office 2013. Has it got anything to do with it?
Any pointers why they are seeing red X?

    Hi,
Do you mean that the red X appears on the icon of the “Upload Document” button in the ribbon?
To narrow down the issue, would you mind providing more details about this issue:
    1. Is the “Upload Document” the only one button in the ribbon show the red X?
    2. Did the red X appear before they upgraded to Office 2013?
    3. What if they change the Browser Mode to “IE8”, will this issue still exists?

  • Office 2013 update KB 2726958 Problem

Our pcs applied the latest round of Windows Updates yesterday and the Office Update KB2726958 caused the macros in Excel 2013 spreadsheets to stop working. Uninstalling just this update returned full functionality to Excel.
These are all Windows 7 64 bit machines connected to an AD domain with 32-bit Office 2013 Professional or Pro Plus.
Any machine that had applied the latest updates released on Tuesday suffered from this problem. Opening a .xlsm spreadsheet looked fine but users were unable to click on Macro buttons to e.g. load a userform.
I have spent 28 minutes on the phone trying to speak to somebody, anybody, in Support but no-one was interested so I am trying this forum instead.

Performing the steps in the link (http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_microsoft_excel_support_team_blog/archive/2014/12/13/forms-controls-stop-working-after-december-2014-updates-.aspx) does
restore the ability to run button driven macros as well as add controls and buttons.
However, a task as simple as:
    Creating a new workbook.
    Saving as macro enabled workbook.
    Adding ActiveX form toggle button.
Adding: msgbox "Toggle this!" to the change even of the newly added toggle button.
    Saving the workbook.
Everything works great on this machine.
When the workbook is opened on another machine (I've tried several that can open and use other macro enabled workbooks with buttons and such.), the button appears, but the button and macro are not functional.  Deleting the sheet
in the workbook causes Excel to crash.
Once I uninstalled KB2726958 on the machine where the workbook is created, I am able to perform the above with no issues.  Of course, this is a temporary work around that will be clobbered by policy driven Windows /Office Updates the next time I restart.
    HALP!

  • Office 2013: Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

    Hi,
I have problems with adding additional e-mail address to my Outlook. When I open the Mail Control Panel Item, go to my Exchange Profile and add a new e-mail address I get a popup indicating that the Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working.
The only way of adding extra e-mail addresses is to remove my entire Outlook Profile. In the initial wizard I can add all Exchange mailboxes that I need (I have 3). After I've configured my Outlook profile I always receive the Rundll32 error. When I try
to create a second Outlook profile I still get the same error.
    I've tried the following:
    - Repair OST file
    - Repair Office -> Control Panel and Online Repair
    - Reinstall Office
    - Reinstall my entire PC
It doesn't matter which e-mail address I add in the initial Outlook configuration wizard. I always receive the error when I try to add a new mailbox, even when I add a mailbox that does not exist (e.g. [email protected]).
Even after reinstalling my PC I still get the same error. I'm using Windows 8.1 (x64) and Office 2013 (32-bit) on a Lenovo W540. None of my colleagues have this issue. It's a domain joined PC and we are not using Roaming Profiles.
For troubleshooting I also created a local account on my laptop but I get the same issues with this account.

    Hi,
I'm also using Office 2013 32-bit and Windows 8.1 64-bit on my computer but doesn't get this issue. As you mentioned you reinstalled your PC, the first thing I suggest is to make sure your Windows and Office have been up to date.
The second thing is to make sure you are using the system with an administrator account, this ensures you the enough permission.
There is a possibility that some 3rd-party programs are interfering with "Mail", we can try to perform a clean boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with this:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click
    Search.
2.Type msconfig in the search box, and then tap or click
    msconfig.
3.On the Services tab of the System Configuration
dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services
check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
4.On the Startup tab of the System Configuration
dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
5.On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click
    Disable.
    6.Close Task Manager.
7.On the Startup tab of the System Configuration
dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.
If in clean boot the issue doesn't exist, the issue was probably caused by the 3rd-party programs. For further information to troubleshoot, you can refer to this kb below:
