Officejet printer problem

I have an officejet 6500 E709N printer and it just stopped printing.  All I get is an empty blank page.  The black cartridge is full.  I have run a test page and it won't print either, so I can't tell what the problem is.  And yes, I've run the tools clean printer head steps one and two and still nothing.  Can anyone help??

Hi @rebel64
I understand the printer is working, but the printed output is missing black or color inks, or the output is blank or has very little ink. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue, and let me know the outcome of your efforts; Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Officejet 6500 All-in-On....
I hope this helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus "unspecified printer problem"

I just set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One.  The set-up seemed to go okay, but when I go to the "devices" tab for "HP Connected" it has a yellow yield sign and says that I have a problem with my printer.  When I click on the yield sign symbol, the box says that "An unspecified problem was reported. Please check your printer."   When I check the printer pannel, there are no problems reported.  The machine seems to print okay, but I'd like to clear up this error that is shown.  Any ideas?
Also, I've already done the restart and sign-off/sign-in stuff, so we can move on to second-order trouble shooting.  Thanks.

    HELP!
I am having exactly the same problem. I am simply swapping out an existing Deskjet 3512 that worked perfectly at all levels, so i KNOW i dont have router/port/network issues. eprint was and is flawless. I just plugged it back in to check and it still works just fine with eprint.
Using my new Pro8600, I send emails to my eprint address and they seem to go...and then nothing. they just don't print.
I get the"Officejet Pro 8600 Plus "unspecified printer problem"" message but my front panel reports no issues.
I'm a step away from taking this back and buying an Epson.
My experience with their support has bee stellar at a commercial printer level.
This seems to be a very common problem and I just dont have hours to monkey around with something that should work out of the box.
    any help will be appreciated.

  • Duplex Printing Problem - Word 2007, Vista and HP Officejet Pro L7780

I'm having trouble with duplex printing on my new HP Officejet Pro L7780, from Word 2007, running on a brand new Vista system.  I've also had this same problem (repeatable) with two other computers, running XP Professional/Word 2003, XP Home/Word 2003.  All of the service packs have been installed for the operating system, word, and printer.
If you print a landscape document, using the auto duplex setting for the HP printer, the margins will print out offset by .25 inches, on the left and rigt margins.  So if your margin is 1 inches on right and left, the margins will print to .75 on one side and 1.25 on the other.  This would be annoying, except that I'm trying to print brochures and books, which requires that the pages print out exactly as set up... "close enough" isn't working for me
The way I have replicated this problem is as follows:  set up a document in landscape format, using the default margins.  Insert an image on page one, size it so it takes the full margin area.  On the second page, fill it up with text.  Print the document, selecting the printer properties and setting Print on Both Sides=Automatic.   The easiest way see the problem is by holding the document up to the light.  The front and back margins should match and they don't.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.
    Diana

    Diana,
This problem is perhaps much larger than you might have imagined.  We have tried to work with Hewlett Packard for over two years on the duplex printing problems.  In the process, we have expended over 100 hours of effort in troubleshooting the problem which has included updating software, reinstalling software, developing test documents, escalating issues, submitting technical findings, and in purchasing replacements.  Unfortunately, our efforts to interact with Hewlett Packard excalated support have resulted in an aire of apathy, disinterest, incompetence, frustration, redundancy, occasional discourtesy, and an outright lack of professional decorum - something inconceivable of a large, reputable company.
We have identified several problems with duplex printing.  The duplex printing problems include irregular margin increases (.25 to .50 inch), margin shifts, cut-off text, compressed text, and compressed graphics.  Please note that most of these problems are only evident when printing documents from computer applications to the printer.  If the user simply uses the front printer panel to copy in duplex mode, these problems are not always evident.  This suggests that the printer mechanics are capable of properly duplexing and that the problem lies in the drivers.
The problem is evident on the HP OfficeJet Pro L7780, Photosmart L7180, Photosmart C6150, Photosmart 3310, and likely on many, many other HP models.  The problem is evident on many computers (HP, IBM, Toshiba, and Dell), is evident in multiple applicatons (Word, Wordperfect, Excel, Peachtree, Notepad, and many more), and is evident on multiple operating systems (Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center Edition, and Microsoft Vista).
We consider ourselves to be extremely polite, patient individuals, but have nearly been driven to outrage by the indignant disregard offered us by HP's escalation support department; a department which should represent the cream-of-the-crop in both service and technical expertise.  Given the ease with which the problem can be duplicated, we expected an extremely quick resolution by HP who, to our knowledge, has never even made the effort to duplicate the problem in-house on our behalf.
Ironically, HP highly advertises their J.D. Powers rated technical support, yet it appears that they actually have extremely poor published consumer rankings in some of today's mainstream computer magazines.  HP technical support makes no apologies for the fact the user cannot use a major feature of their printers, offers no indication that the problem is even being addressed, and off-loads the responsibility by suggesting that we contact Microsoft (who is to blame for this issue).
Thank you, Diane, for your message.  We had a hard time imagining that we were the only one experiencing this problem, especially when HP promotes such a representation.  Which also begs the question why HP plays like the problem does not even exist?  I also fail to understand why HP technical support shows so little interest in a problem that is easily duplicated and adversely affects a major feature of the printer which is commonly used by individuals purchasing equipment for its duplex capabilities.
This is sad because we have been a loyal customer of HP for over twenty-five years.  There was a time when we would have happily endorsed HP's steller products and steller support (provided you could get a problem escalated).  Now, however, they all-too-often appear to offer equipment that fails to support advertised features which is backed up by sub-standard support and extremely expensive ink.  This is an especially sad commentary for users who are buying HP's upper-end printers and computers.
We desire to know if there are others out there experiencing similar problems?  If you have experienced these problems or would like samples of the problems we have duplicated, please respond.  I think the more information we gather, the better our chance of a successful resolution to a serious problem.
    Thanks Everyone!

  • Officejet Pro K5400 printing problems after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9

    Hi,
I have printing problems with my Officejet Pro K5400 after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9.
Now after printing 1 page the printer prints an extra page with '2345X' sentence on it. As this problem started right after updating, I suppose there is a problem with an update.

This patch did solve our problem with the K5400 feeding a "blank sheet".
    Thank you.

HP posted a workaround for this problem while they were working with Microsoft to get the root cause of the problem, many customers commented that the workaround helped them out and they were able to print. This workaround was not easy to use as the customer needed to add another printer manually and changed drivers.
We can now announce that the problem has been fixed, the problem involved a Microsoft Network component that HP was using to talk to and track the printers on the network. This fix is being rolled out by Microsoft via Windows Update and anyone who has Windows Update enabled and set to automatically install updates should have already received this update. For those that do not have Windows Update setup to automatically install fixes the fix is available now and should be installed.
The details of this fix and a manual method of installing it can be found here.

This fix is only designed for users that are using there printer on a Network (Wireless or Wired) and will not fix partial printing problems encountered with USB connections.

    @tenkeypro
First, I would suggest you uninstall the exsisting driver and reinstall following one of these documents to see if it will clear this error message:
Install HP print and scan software on a Windows 8 computer (32-bit and 64-bit)
    Universal Print Driver (no scan)
Driver support included in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 or in Windows Update

  • Printing problem with officejet l7650

Hi, when i print in Word, the last line is not complete. The print mist the alf of the line, just the upper of the line appear.
I upload the new driver, i print without spool etc.. the problem is the same.
    Please help me!!

Have you tried printing with another word processor to see if the print problem is with Word or something else? You can print Word documents with the free program Openoffice, which you can download from download.com or Openoffice.org
If you find the problem is with Word, Try uninstalling and reinstalling Word. First, you may want to download the free utilities Glary Registry Repair & Glary Utilities. Run both of them, reboot Windows and try a document. If that does not help, then do the uninstall, reinstall. That is easier than trying to run down the exact problem in your Word settings.

  • Reader 10.0 Printing Problem - Font changing while printing

    Dear all,
can anybody help me on my printing problem with Adobe Reader 10.0 ?
While printing a pdf I cannot do anything else, it is not possible to touch the mouse
because when I do this, the font is changing while printing to something like grecian.
Can somebody help me on this ?
Reader 9 did not cause this problem.
    Thanx and best Regards, Travelplan24

I have the same problem, but I didn't realize it could be set off by my working on another task. It is also triggered when the pdf has scientific notation, or a very extreme change in font and font size. E.g., text in boxes, algorithms, etc. seem to trigger the problem.
I have reinstalled my print driver (several times, latest on Sunday), and reinstalled Adobe Reader (now 10.0.1) but the problem remains.
    Printer:
HP Officejet 6500 (E709n Series) wireless, now on USB.
Document properties: Most recent font conversion - yesterday:
    Producer: Distiller 4.0.2 for Mac
    PDF version: 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)
Fonts: Helvetica-Neue, Type 1, Encoding: ANSI and Roman
The font is not converting into Greek. E.g. "Problem-Solving Process" became "Qspcrfm . Tpnwjoh!Qspdftt"' with the kerning overlapping characters.
The font 'conversion' has happened many, many times on a wide variety of pdf files in the past 6 months. Never had the problem before. I had downloaded new Reader, and purchased the new printer -- I do not know which change created the problem.
I will cease doing anything when I print as a temporary workaround, but that is not a good solution.
I sure hope you can figure out what the bug is. Thanks in advance.

  • HP Officejet100 Mobile L411a intermittent Bluetooth printing problems with PDF files

    Hello,
Our company provides computer-hosted medical devices controlled by an application running on Windows7 computers we supply. We are currently using the HP Officejet 100 as a Bluetooth printer. In some of our customer offices, we experience printing problems using the printer in Bluetooth mode (there are never problems if the printer is connected by a USB cable.)
The printing problems typically affect PDF files printed through Adobe Reader 10, and the symptom is one of the following:
Send a print job to the printer. It doesn't print and eventually the print queue shows an "Error Printing" message. If any print jobs are removed and the printer is power-cycled, the problem goes away for the time being.
    2.  Same as above but power-cycling does not cure the problem and nothing will print, even a test page.
In either of these cases there are no problems if a USB cable is used.
The PDF files we are trying to print are typically 5 pages with 3 of the pages having a lot of graphics and the remainder being text only.
Has anyone seen this behavior and is there anything we can do about it?
    Thanks.

I don't anything about this printer, but I do know that bluetooth is really flaky with large files since it's got a crappy transfer rate, could be that the transfer is dropping and freezing the printer up. Does it have encryption turned on?

  • Printing Problems - HP LaserJet 2100 with USB/Parallel adapter - Print jobs 'hang'

Hoping to get some assistance with a persistent and frustrating printing problem.
I've got an older HP LaserJet 2100 that was working great until recently.  It doesn't have a USB port on it, so I have it connected to my iMac (21" 3.1 gHz, i7) via a USB/Parallel cable.  Up until now I have been forced to us Gutenprint (wss running 5.0.2) as the Apple provided drivers cause the printer to spit out pages upon pages of gibberish.
Recently, when printing the document (or PDF, or whatever) gets sent to the queue, but doesn't seem to fully make it to the printer.  For lack of a better term, it 'hangs' at some percent (47%, 82% etc.) in the queue window and doesn't print.
A few further details that are causing me extreme levels of frustration:
I have reset the SMB and this results in being able to print one page normally, then the system returns to the problem above
OSX can see the printer and I have deleted/added it many times
Printing system has been reset multiple times
On a restart, the first page that was trying to print does print out.  This sometimes happens when the log-in page appears, sometimes when I log back in to my user account.
The printer is connected directly to my iMac and not through a USB hub.
I have another printer (a new HP Officejet 6600) that works without a problem.
    Thanks in advance.

This problem is most likely a deficiency in the parallel-adapter end of that cable. I'd look for another USB-parallel cable.
There used to be a special driver that worked around the limitation of the parallel adapter "data shifter" - but it doesn't appear to be available anymore:

the cyan color won't print when using our HP Pro 6500 Officejet printer.  Can I get help with this?

This doesn't make sense. The printer is exhibiting behavior noticed when a network printer is connected to a laptop while the laptop is connected to a VPN. But in this case, neither the printer is connected on a network, not is the laptop connected to a VPN per se.
Are you sure all the latest drivers for your laptop have been installed? That's pretty much the only thing I can think of right now.

  • PSE 8 Printer Problem

I purchased PSE 8 some time ago and I am finally beginning to make use of it on a PC running Windows 7 (64 bit). However, it seems to have a problem with one of  my printers.
First, for some reason, it is choosing my (B&W only) HP LaserJet P1505 as the default printer. Second, when I attempt to select my color HP OfficeJet 6500 E709n Series printer, I receive the following message (although the OfficeJet printer is then shown to be selected):
Could not complete your request because an error occurred while printing.
With the OfficeJet printer selected, clicking on the "print" button produces the following message:
Could not complete your request because of a program error.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Devices and Printers
Is there a green checkmark next to your color printer? This would indicate that it is the default printer.
Next, open a picture file in full Editor, go to File>print, and the default printer should be selected under #1

  • Download of Firefox vers 6 caused HP Officejet printer to quit printing

Contacted HP on 9/7/11 and they agreed there is a conflict with Firefox 6 and my Officejet Model 4580 that they could not resolve. Last person I talked to was Spvy Omar Flores based at their Phillipino call center.

    Hi @steel13
Since the issue only occurs when you print from Firefox, I feel it would be most beneficial if you reach out to Mozilla.
You might first consider resetting Firefox print settings; Fix printing problems in Firefox.

  • Printing problem splwow64

I have a printer HP 6500 E709N I am trying to use with windows 8.1 64 bits. While the fax and scan functions are working, I cannot manage to print anything (even the test).
When I try to print, I have a messager that no printer is installed on my computer (while I can see my HP printer in the control panel, and ticked as default printer).

Could someone help me with that?

Hi there family23, Welcome to the Forums!
I saw your post about not being able to print from your Windows 8.1 system and Officejet 6500 unit.
I would like to know if the issue is solely happening in one program only (Example: Microsoft Office Word), or if you see the error when you try to print from everywhere (Example: Email, Webpages, Notepad, etc).
Please reply to let me know where exactly the error is and that will help target the problem.
In the meantime, try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to find and fix common printer problems to see if this helps you.
