  • Web Agent in 10g OLAP??

    Hi all,
I was wondering whether the Web Agent component for 10g OLAP is available. From what I can see on the Oracle sites, there is only an install for 9.2.0.4.
Can some one please confirm, as I am interested in upgrading to the New version, to take a look at the newer features available with the AW, however I require Web Agent.
    Regards,
    Imran

    Hi Imran,
If you want to run Oracle OLAP Web Agent with the Oracle 10g database, you should install OLAP Web Agent 9.2.1 base version - patch 3467263 on Metalink, and then install Web Agent 9.2.1 patch 1 - patch 3941853 on Metalink. Patch 1 is required for 10g compatability.
I will try and ensure that it gets correctly listed for the 10g database.
We will soon release 9.2.1 Patch 2 with updated Java certificates.

Installing OLAP means your database options must have the OLAP options enabled, OLAP is available among the Enterprise Edition Options, verify if this is installed.
    SQL> R
      1  select * from v$option
      2* where parameter like '%OLAP%'
    PARAMETER                                        VALUE
    OLAP Window Functions                            TRUE
OLAP                                             TRUEand the database must have the OLAP catalog created and valid:
    SQL> R
      1  select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry
      2* where comp_name like '%OLAP%'
    COMP_NAME                        VERSION                        STATUS
    OLAP Analytic Workspace          10.1.0.2.0                     VALID
    Oracle OLAP API                  10.1.0.2.0                     VALID
    OLAP Catalog                     10.1.0.2.0                     VALID
Scenario 1: OLAP option installed and upgraded, component name not installed:
    Enter to your dbca and:
    a. Select configure database options
    b. Select your target database
    c. Skip the EM configuration in case the checkbox is not greyed, we don't need it now.
    d. At the database components, check the Oracle OLAP option.
    e. After a while, this will have run the required scripts and your database will be OLAP enabled.
    f. Verify with the above queries.
Scenario 2: OLAP options not installed.
    1. Install the OLAP from your media, explicitly select the components and install them.
    2. Afterwards apply the patchset to upgrade the newly installed components.
    3. Proceed with scenario 1.

  • OLAP Virtual cubes in PS 2010: what are their components ?

    Hi,
I read somewhere that the 3 following OLAP Cubes in Project Server 2010 are virtual cubes built with the "aggregation" of several other cubes. What are these "primary" cubes?
    Thanks
    MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer
    MSP_Project_SharePoint
    MSP_Project_Timesheet

To understand the Total fields and Dimensions available in the 14  OLAP cubes available in Project Server 2010, it is helpful to group the OLAP cubes based on the Total fields and Dimensions they have in common with one another. Therefore, consider
the following logical groupings for the fourteen OLAP cubes:
Assignment: The Assignment Non Timephased, Assignment Timephased,
MSP Portfolio Analyzer, and MSP Project Timesheet
OLAP cubes contain assignment data. Each of these OLAP cubes includes many of the same Total Fields (such as Actual Cost, Actual Overtime Cost, Actual Work, and Actual Overtime Work) and many of the same Dimensions (such as Assignment Owner and Project List)
    Project Workspace:The Deliverables, Issues,
MSP_Project_SharePoint, and Windows SharePoint Services (WSS). This data includes Risk, Issues, Document, and Deliverable information about each project.
Timesheet: The EPM Timesheet and Timesheet OLAP cubes contain timesheet
data. You can use these two OLAP cubes to report on Actual Work Billable and Actual Work Non Billable, for example.
Project:The Project Non Timephased OLAP cube contains project
data. Although this OLAP cube contains some information in common with several others, the common information is so limited that I include it in its own group.
Resource: The Resource Non Timephased and Resource Timephased OLAP cubes
contain resource data. These two OLAP cubes do not contain any Total fields in common, but do contain several Dimensions in common (such as Booking Type and Resource List).
    Task:
The Tasks Non Timephased OLAP cube contains task data. This OLAP cube contains only one Total field and six Dimensions, two of which it has in common with other OLAP cubes. Because this OLAP cube contains so little information, and has so little in common
with other OLAP cubes, I include it in its own group.
In other way you can conclude :
MSP_Project_Timesheet:: combines the Assignment Timephased, Resource Timephased, and EPM Timesheet cubes.
MSP_Project_SharePoint :: combines Project Non-Timephased, Issues, Risks, and Deliverables cubes.
MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer :: combines the Assignment Timephased and Resource Timephased cubes

  • Olap cubes in 10g for reporting

    Hi -
I am trying figure out how to use the olap cube I built in 10g.
    1) Can you use materialized views on top of the olap cube in 10g? Sounds like this is a 11g feature?
    2) Is query re-write for olap cubes available in 10g?
    3) How are you accessing olap cubes in 10g other than using the Oracle reporting tools.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
    To answer your questions:
    1) This is an 11g only feature
    2) This is an 11g only feature
    3) The options for accessing OLAP cubes are described here:- http://wiki.oracle.com/page/I+am+Completely+New+to+Oracle+OLAP
    I hope this helps

  • How to use HIERARCHY in OLAP_TABLE function

    Hello,
I am new to OLAP and I don't really know what is the exact syntax to look at this cube by using sql and OLAP_TABLE function.
I have defined a analytic workspace called 'MANUAL' by using Analytic Workspace Manager. Inside I have defined a simple dimension 'DIM_PERIOD'.
    I have 4 levels ('YEAR', 'QUARTER','MONTH','YEAR_MONTH'), 1 hierarchy ('PERIOD') and 6 attributes ('YEAR','QUARTER','MONTH_CODE','MONTH_LONG','MONTH_SHORT',
'YEAR_MONTH'). Every attribute is linked to one level of the hierarchy..
I would like to build the correct sql statement to see all my dimension.
I have already build the following :
create type awperiod_row AS OBJECT (
    tyear VARCHAR2(4000),
    tquarter VARCHAR2(4000));
    create type awperiod_table as table of awperiod_row;
    Select *
    from table (OLAP_TABLE(
    'manual DURATION SESSION',
    'awperiod_table',
    'DIMENSION tyear from dim_period));
This is giving me all different level in only one column.
If I introduce 'WITH HIERARCHY PERIOD' I have an error saying PERIOD is not an object of Manual.
Is there somebody who can help me ?
I am expecting the following simple result :
    Year Quarter Monthshort
    2005 1 Jan
    2005 1 Feb
    2005 1 Mar
    2005 2 Apr
Note also the definition and the data of my dimension is good. I can see the correct contain by using Analytic Workspace Manager
    Thanks already

The answer to your overall question is that you should use the familyrel keyword in your limitmap, once per level that you want represented as a column (or a single reference along with the USING clause). You would also need to reference these new columns in your ADT.
But before you start using familyrel, you'll need to discover why you can't specify a hierarchy. My guess is that period is not the name of the hierarchy in the Analytic Workspace. You can list all available hierarchies by using OLAP Worksheet (available in AWM) and typing "listnames relations aw period".
It is somewhat difficult to be more specific without more detailed knowledge of the underlying Analytic Workspace.
    Thanks.

*SAP BO reports on SAP BI:*
As we are creating OLAP cubes/Infocubes in SAP BI, same way BO has Universe.
Universe is based on direct Infocube/ Multiprovider/DSO(ods) and BEx query.
    Universe Designer:
Only thing is one has to establish connection to access SAP BI system. To do this job, while choosing datasource, you have to select SAP Business Intelligence 3.x -- Client. And next screens it will prompt for User logon credentials to access SAP BI system. Once, connection is tested OK. Click next and it will list out all the OLAP Cubes available in SAP BI system and select the relavant one and click on next - next -- Finish.
Now you have created Universe on top of SAP BI system. Then Export the Universe to Server.
Open Infoview to start Web Intelligence report(s) and choose the Universe from the list of universes then it will take you to WebI Query panel , in that drag the Objects(Dimension/Detail/Measure) to result objects pane to see them in BO Report and to filter data use Query filters pane or do it in Report level.
Once you are in WebI report level , you will get lots of options to see your reports in different styles.
For better customizations: Use BEx queries based on Infocube. (In BEx query properties, one has to Check Allow OLAP access enabled)
    BODI -->> BODS
After SAP aquiring BO and the latest version released with BODS(Data Services), It's basically ETL process, do the job same as what we exactly do to create Infocube. (Extraction of data , transformations and loading) and with additional transformations introduced.
    Thank You!!

  • Essbase Reporting Tools

Hi all,Just wondering what tools people are using for reportin from essbaseCan I use Crystal/MS Reporting Services? Thanks,Coleman

    Hi,
    1. Firstly, when you are asking of differences between hyperion essbase and reporting tools. Its not a fair apples to apples camparision.
    2. Hyperion essbase is an OLAP tool which uses multidimensionality to produce reports , its not just a reporting tool
    3. The fair camparision would be between 2 OLAP tools , rather than an OLAP tool and a reporting tool.
    4. You have got quite a few OLAP tools available, not every OLAP tools is MOLAP, it might be ROLAP too. This is a huge difference and would work much better too in camparision.

  • North America Workshop Schedule

Thanks to everyone that provided their feedback on the tentative workshop schedule.   We've tried to accommodate as many of the suggestions as possible.  The dates and topics of the classroom sessions are listed below.
Guided online learning / self-paced study is still an open topic.  We've identified several topics to cover but the details are still coming together.  We have asked each of the (classroom) workshop leaders to record their lectures so at a minimum there can be basic knowledge transfer ... but some topics will lend themselves better than others for this learning method.
The logistics document with suggested hotels and airports is attached.  Workshop leaders are finalizing their course descriptions as well.  Those will be published on the Events page as they're completed.
Please note: these workshops are only available to faculty actively using SAP software in their university curricula, as part of their campus full University Alliances program membership (if your school is interested in joining, see program info on the UAC Program Overview page (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/overview)

Edited by: Heather Czech  on Apr 23, 2009 6:10 AM.  Not sure how the doc became corrupted a 2nd time - sorry!  The schedule as well as the event logistics and course descriptions have now been posted on our events page.  Checkout the link:  https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/ua-events.

    Tony,
Yes you can plan your trip.  The delay with the registration opening is not related to the schedule ... it is because the folks that need to create it for me area balancing a bunch of priorities, so my work is in the queue.  If I don't get confirmation on that by COB today, I will take the other approach and do manual registration (complete a form, email in).
With regard to the guided learning -- we're excited about it too.  While I strongly believe there will always be a place for face to face workshops --- the network built at those sessions is so valuable and some topics don't lend themselves to distance learning --- we also have several course topics that are straight forward, that we believe with some guidance / direction from the course author faculty should be able to begin using the content without a traditional workshop.  We're coordinating with both course authors and workshop leaders on this now.  I expect our first venture into this to be "quick and basic" --- meaning, we'll package existing conent and recordings plus schedule some webinars / forums with the goal of knowledge transfer as opposed to spending lots of time making the package look pretty.  After we get a few out the door we'll take a look at faculty feedback then adjust as needed.

  • No data fields are available in the OLAP cube

i was able to access data in Excel yesterday, but now all the cubes that i have created cannot be accessed by Excel any more and after authenticating and selecting the cell for the pivot table i get this error:
No data fields are available in the OLAP cube
i just hope this is some process in HANA that needs restarting and not some endemic MDX problem. if so, where do i look?
    has anyone seen this?
BTW, shouldn't there be a single log on for the connection? i have to enter credentials twice: 1 when creating the connection and 2 when opening the pivot table.

something/someone has locked my userid when i was recreating the steps in Excel (i don't think i have tried 'wrong' passwords, but i did try a ['wrong' user|http://misiorek.com/h/GMSnap206%202011-11-27.jpg]
    Here are the steps:

  • OWB - making cubes / dimensions available for Disco OLAP

** Posted on the OWB forum initially but no replies **
Hi, can someone explain (or tell where I can find documentation on) deploying cubes and dimensions for viewing in Disco Plus OLAP ?
I have already derived other unrelated tables/views to business areas and have setup the security on those for Disco with no problem.
The cubes and dims are defined as ROLAP and there is data in the underlying tables. I have granted SELECT access on the underlying tables to the required users. The dims and cubes have been deployed with the "Deploy All" setting
If I log on as the eul owner into Disco Plus OLAP I can see the dims, cubes, measures and data with no problem, however if I log on with one of the other users I can log on ok (so no issues there) but have no objects to select from.
I think the issue is to do with access not being granted to the new users to the relevant OLAP objects but do not know which ones.
    Thanks
    Paul

Sorry folks, I got mixed up with another thread running somewhere else.
With ROLAP, all you should need to do is grant select on all the dimension and cube tables. The metatdata for these tables is owned by OLAPSYS and stored in various tables starting with CWM_XXXX. Assuming your Disco user has been granted the role OLAP_USER (which should happen by default, and you confirmed this in a previous part of this thread) then everything should work.
This might be caused by the CWM catalog not being up to date in terms of all the required metadata. Try connecting as the OLAPSYS user and then execute the following command
    exec CWM2_OLAP_METADATA_REFERESH.MR_REFERESH
Once this has finished you might find that you cannot connect to Discoverer. This will be because the sample ROLAP schema owned by SH gets corrupted during installation and this can cause problems with the OLAP metadata. The only thing to do is to use the OLAP PL/SQL packages to delete the dimensions/cubes owned by SH then re run the command to refresh the metadata catalog - > CWM2_OLAP_METADATA_REFERESH.MR_REFERESH
Security - You need to use the normal database label security with a ROLAP implementation as the AW PERMIT command is not available with ROLAP.

  • OLAP FOR WINDOWS NOT AVAILABLE

this is the error i am getting from a script that you guys help
me with. where do i go to find this or correct this error?
    thanks,
    Lorenzo

Well, if you're on a Mac, that's pretty much a hopeless cause. Quicktime only allows afew legacy formats (make sure to enable the "Allow Legacy CoDecs" option in the global QT prefs), but it will not be particualarly useful. I strongly recomemnd you render to QT (Aniamtion or PNG) and find someone who can convert the fiel to an AVI on a native Windows system.
