Old itunes user off computer

I have a computer that has someone elses I-tunes account on my computer. I would like to get them off and add an I-tunes account for me on the computer. I have tried unistalling I-tunes but when I reinstall I-tunes the other guys account comes right back. Can anyone help me with this. I have tried using his ID and password but the one he gave me doesn't work.
Thanks Greg

Hi There
It sounds like the previous user is still logged into the iTunes store on the computer, go to the store menu in iTunes and select Sign Out. You will then be able to sign up for your own iTunes account by going back to the store menu and selecting the appropriate option (create account).
Hope this helps

  • Transfering music from either my ipod or from old itunes to new computer

i just got a new MacBook Pro with itunes i would like to get my songs from my old itunes on my other computer to this one but i dont think there is any easy way to do it. if that doesnt work i would like to get my music off my ipod to my new itunes

This doesn't appear to be an option anymore.
I can check songs but there's no transfer button -
Syncing doesn't transfer songs in that direction -
You can add to a playlist but the song still isn't there.

  • Removing old Itunes user

Ok, this should be simple, but I can't seem to find a simple answer. I had my itunes account on my Mac Book Pro, I spilled coffee on it and fried it, so it's going back, in the mean time I took over a new Mac Book Pro from our departed marketing director, and now that I'm using this Mac, I want to clear her off of it and use it for my account, it's basically my Mac at this point. Even when I go on and log in, all her stuff is still there, and none of mine, even my purchased music. I went into my old Mac, was able to start it up and I copied my "Music" folder with all my music to a back up drive, figuring once I get this sorted out I would just log into my Itues account, dig in and replace the music folder with my back up, that should work and I'm not worried about doing that part, but how do I wipe the old user off the Mac?
I have a big party coming up and I need to set a play list up, and want to get this done ASAP.
Do I just delete itunes off the Mac, or is there a better way, this should be something simple, but it seems that when you try to do anything with itunes other than simply buying music, it's always a major undertaking
    Thanks
    Todd

I believe the easiest thing for you to do will be the create a new OS X user account for yourself, then simply delete the other user account. You will be given the option to keep the existing files or delete them... delete them, as you've said you don't want to keep them. Before doing this, though, you should deauthorize the Mac from the existing iTunes Store account.

I have all my old itunes library music saved in a folder on a new computer. Is there a way of downloading itunes and uploading all my old music i have stored? Any help would be appreciated

if all your musio is backed up in a folder, then you can instll the new version of itunes, then go under file, (top left corner) and click add file to library.  click on one of the songs, hold shift on your computer and click down.  after they all light up, click "add" and they willa ll be in the library to transfer to iDevice or listen to

  • Old Itunes libary new computer

Is there any way to transfer my old music, to my new computer, WITHOUT losing all the details, play count, ratings ect? New computer will be Vista, old one was XP.
    Thanks in advance.

The following article tells you how to do it using your iPod:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?viewlocale=en_US
But the method is essentially the same if you use an external drive to transfer the iTunes folder or even via a network connection.
The important thing is to have all your music files in your iTunes Music folder i.e. consolidated as discussed in the article. Then it is very straight ofrward and you keep all your playlists ratings etc.

  • Itunes won't sync old Itunes onto new computer.

I just got a new computer and installed Itunes and signed in. My library had nothing there. I authorized the computer, and deauthorized my old computer. I plugged my ipod into my new computer, and it recognized it,  but didn't update my empty library. I clicked on "On This Ipod" and all my music from my old library was there. I looked at the summary of syncing at the music section, and it will empty my ipod completely and put my empty library on my ipod, and I do not want that. My question is, how do I get my old library onto my new computer?

when I click my iphone, everything is blank.
Do you mean there's no text in the summary pages?

  • Old itunes account/new computer

I used to have an AOL iTunes account which I used to purchase songs. I cancelled this AOL account about 2 years ago. I recently bought a new computer and wanted to authorize it to play the songs I purchased when using AOL but as I no longer have the AOL account it is telling me my password/account name are bad. Is there any way to authorize the playing of these songs on my new computer?

You may have to use the form at the bottom of this page:

  • How do I combine an old itune library thats on an external hardrive and a newer library thats on a newer computer into 1 library and keep them on the external hard drive so I won't use up all my memory on my newer laptop

I copied an old iTunes library off my old Toshiba laptop with windows xp and put it on an external hard drive.  I have a newer Microsoft surface pro laptop with windows 8.1.   I have a small iTunes library on my newer laptop.  I want to combine the 2 libraries into 1, add newer podcasts to the combined library daily, but keep it all on my external hard drive, so I don't use all my memory on my surface pro.  I have an older ipod classic that I have all my old library on.  I love it and don't want to stop using it, but want to be able to add podcasts from my 1 library from time to time.  What I usually do is download podcasts for a few weeks then, download them to my ipod.  Haven't done any of this in about a year.  But want to start getting regular with it again.   PS  I'm not very computer savy  Thanks for any help or advice!

This article explains how to open a different library: iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one. The assumption is that the whole library was copied to the external drive from the old Toshiba laptop, not just the media. If that isn't the case make a new library on the external drive in a folder called \iTunes and move the media inside \iTunes\iTunes Media before adding it to the library.
Once iTunes is using the library on the external drive you can add any content stored on the internal drive to the library by drag & drop or by moving/copying the content into \iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes. Make sure the option under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to Copy files to the folder iTunes Media when adding to library is selected. Once complete you can delete the original copies on the internal drive.
Should your library contain duplicates after merging see this recent post on deduping.
If there are ratings, playlists, play counts, or content stored on the iPod classic and not located anywhere else then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Ideally you should backup your library to a second drive for security. See Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for a suggested strategy.

  • How can I delete iTunes user?

I have a old iTunes user and I want to delete it...
    How can I do that?

Why would you give someone your account details? Presumably the problem is that you still have a credit card or other source of funding attached to the account and now other people are spending your money. Chances are that they have now changed the password making it harder for you to log in and remove your card details.
It turns out you can delete an account, although eventually you would permanently lose access to any protected purchases made with that account. What makes more sense is to deactivate the account and/or remove any credit card/other funding associated with it.
Try to sign in to the store with your account details or visit Apple ID Support and use the Recover your password link if you have been locked out of the account.

  • Deleting old itunes

I want to delete the old itunes off my pc so I start from the beginning with a new ipod. I have deleted the old itunes software off and then loaded the new itunes back on again. However when I go into itunes it is still showing my old catalogue of music. Can anyone help please on how to get rid of this? Many Thanks.

Unininstalling iTunes does not remove either your music files or you iTunes library database.
I assume you don't want to delete your music files.
If you want to clear your library, just close iTunes then drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music library.xml out of your iTunes folder in My music to the Desktop.
When you start iTunes you will have an empty library.
