On 'insert FLV' player sits on top of video, not below
Hi, there.
I'm not a website designer, just a vdeo editor, who would like to post an FLV on a simple page with flash player controls below the video. In the past when I've used the 'insert flv' function, I've been able to have the player sit below the image. Now, when I insert an FLV, the player sits on top of the video. Is there any way to fix this without adjusting the code? (which I don't know how to do) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
This behavior depends on the player template you choose. If you think the result you see is incorrect, adjust the height and width attributes, which can be done in the property inspector, if you're not into code.

My problem is how to insert a .flv player into a jsf web page and be able to modify dinamically the movie address??
Thank all for your help!!!one way to embedd flash player is to use swfobject.js
http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/
<script type="text/javascript"> var so = new SWFObject("location of ur swf (flash) player", "mymovie", "340", "300", "8", "#FFFFFF");
so.addVariable("videoId", ID);
so.write("flashcontent");
</script>
ID is the input that will change dynamically...ur flash player will read videoId and chose the location from where to stream the .flv file..
remember u may need to write ur own .swf(flash player)... -
Looking for FLV player with playlist for my Flash site
I've been looking for an FLV player that I can embed "inside" my flash site--most likely loaded as an external swf via loadClip inside my main swf file. I also need it to be AS2 compatible for my current project. If anyone has some ideas please share, thanks.
-DavidI have a sample here http://www.smithmediafusion.com/blog/?p=337 that uses an rss feed as the playlist.

FLV Player works locally but not on site
I made a media player for the website I maintain and
the FLV Player works on my machine, but it doesn't even show up
online. What did I do wrong? Here is the url:
ruarts.org/f/media player flash/content/rcca
player.htmlMe thinks you have hard-coded some incorrect relative paths.
For instance, one of your SWFs is here:
http://ruarts.org/f/media%20player%20flash/content/frog%20bride.swf
And the link to one your FLVs is this:
http://ruarts.org/Users/stmcmast/Documents/media%20player%20flash/movs/respond%20park%2010 20%201.flv
But the actual path to that same FLV is this:

I have a client who wants a video on their site similar to the link above. How complicated is this to do? Would I need to create a skin myself for the player. What about the player not showing until the user clicks the arrow? How does that work is that part of the player? Also will the video load fast enough as an .flv or does it need to be on a server? I assume an flv is sufficient.
The part I'm not sure of is the player, how will I get it to look exactly as I want? Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks.You can edit the player skin if you like. There's no need to do that to get the effect that you want, however. The flvPlayer component is just a tool, you don't have to use it at all. You can load an external .flv file into a sprite or movieClip and play it as you like. Here's a tutorial on bulding the custom controls: http://www.developphp.com/Flash_tutorials/show_tutorial.php?tid=89 Caution: turn down the audio in the top video when you get to the site!
Having the controls appear or disappear is just a matter of adding that code to functions for other actions. -
FLV player, displaying duration and time
Hello,
I am in need of some help!
I have a FLV player that uses the netstream method to call in
external flv files. I'd like the flv player to identify how long
the specified flv file is, in minutes, and display it in a text
field. I would also like the time elapsed to be dispayed, when the
video is actually being played.
How would i go about getting this functionality to work?
I will post my code up if you guys want to see it but for the
time being i'd just like some advice.
I hope someone can help!
Regards
EGR103Hi Guys! Yes, I'm sure you can do it in Flash ...
You can display a
clock displaying
timeof day. There is all kinds of information about this at
Edmund Mullen's site, located at:
http://ed.mullen.home.comcast.net/fclock.html
If you want a SWF you can insert into a Captivate movie that
displays elapsed time, I have a diferent suggestion. First,
understand that elapsed time (ET) can be a tricky bugger, becuase
it is probably not "straight-ahead" elapsed time. If your Captivate
movies have any interactivity, you may or may not want those
"pauses" counted in elapsed time metering. You need something
special, and as Rick said, that animal don't live here ...
Contact Paul Dehurst (fellow community expert) and ask if
Paul will build you something like this. He may be too busy, or
just not interested in extra work right now, but if he does it for
you, he'll do a good job. Expect to pay him a negotiated fee - it
will be reasonable. Paul can be reached right here, or at his
web-site at:

Click the link to: "
Contact Paul:"
Second idea, if Paul can't be convinced to help you out ...
call RentaCoder. You can reach them at:
http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/default.asp
Seriously, these folks might be the most underappreciated
people on the net. In just a few minutes at their site, you can
find a programmer in almost any software language - often close to
your physical location. No, I haven't personally used them, but a
company I contracted with recently had a need for a special Flash
tool, and contacted a Flash coder through "rentacoder" - and were
very pleased. Good luck! -
Last stage I get a white box with adobe flash player installler on top
I go through all the stages, I download, I open it and it installs but at the end I get a white box that says adobe flash player installer on top.
I read to uninstall, then reinstall and that is what I did, Now I have no flash player at all. WHY WONT THE FINAL STEP HAPPEN, WHY THE WHITE BOX? Now I cant play anything!!! please help!Hi,
I just called the Mac store and they said don't worry about a password,
just click enter or okay. I went to the Adobe site, downloaded a new
version, ignored the box and hit okay, and it installed. No prob. Miracle
after years of trying!
Now I am enjoying my Qi Gong videos! See what I mean about a higher

I hope everyone can get easier access to Adobe. I did email them that too!

Inserted FLV not playing in published files
I am trying to insert an FLV file but keep getting the following error when trying to publish:
"The Flash video can not be loaded. The output may not be proper." When I try to run the output files the video player is blank.
I am using Captivate 5.5.
The FLV file plays correctly in preview mode and also plays correctly when I play it independantly using a media player.
The file is located in the same folder as the CPTX file and the output SWF and HTM outputs.
I prefer to use the insert FLV option as it provides the playback controls which aren't available from the Insert Video option. It does play correctly using the Insert Video option.
Please help!
AlexI have discovered something really unexpected. I tried publishing to the EXE format which worked. If I then published in the Flash format it works! If I try to publish again it reverts to the old problem.
Is this a bug?

FLV player component. Open Source/commercial options?
I'm returning to a project I've had on hold for a bit. We're
now receiving
.flv files from our video team and we need to displaying them
on our site.
Can anyone recommend some Flash FLV player components? Open
source
preferred, but commercial or freeware would be OK too if
highly recommended.
I've looked at OSFLV but that appears to require PHP back end
scripts. Our
site is ASP.net so likely wouldn't work.
Ideally, it'd be a player that we could passe the FLV info to
via the HTML
(so that we could incorporate the embed markup automatically
via our CMS
back end).

I beleave first of all you must decide how will you show your
videos.
Do you have FMS? Or is webserver the only you have for your
site? If
you don't have FMS and don't like to buy its license, then
the only
possible way is to use HTTP Streaming or simple progressive
download.
And you must seek for a player depending on your choice of
the video
delivery method. HTTP Streaming is a great choice if you
haven't FMS.
Though you need some scripting language/database engine at
your web
server and some custom SWF (Flash FLV Player). Standard UI
components
like FLVPlayback will not work with HTTP Streaming. Though it
is not
so dificult to create such player using any Flash MX version
>= 7.
You can find some brief description of HTTP Streaming if
you'll try to
search in Google:

How to have a fullscreen button in flv player , and where to find other skin player ?
hi !
i currently use Dreamweaver CS5 to build a page that plays a FLV video.
i use the insert flv media feature from dreamweaver, to insert the flash player into the html code.
it works fine but :
- it didn't have a fullscreen button (none of the 3 skins (clear , halo, corona)
so where can we download more skin with more feature (dreamweaver compatible off course) ?
thanks for help

OK. DW doesn't provide much. Short of building your own custom player in Flash Professional, look in the Adobe Exchange (see link below)

You can also download free flash videoplayers like JW Player.

Dear all
I have created a custom FLV player and i would like to embed
it into our web site. The problem I have is I want it to be
dynamic. So I can link lots of videos to it rather than export just
one movie with the player from flash and embed that each time into
the website. I want the player as a permanent entity and then link
to it via a database with a list of FLV videos. I know about
Flashvars and creating those variables in the javascript file but I
want to know do I need to or can I type a query into the source
field in the parameters of the .fla file to link to a database full
of the videos. Rather than place in that source field the name of
one .flv movie. Thats where I am stuck. I am pretty new to flash. I
am using progressive download by the way.
Our website is coded with classic ASP/CSS and we use access
for databases.
Many thanks
RobThanks so much for your help, I am probably going to sound
thick but how would I get flash to read the xml, I guess I would do
it with actionscript but do you have any pointers or tutorials you
know of where it involves asp and a database etc.

Creating slide presentions with SWF & FLV Player
I downloaded this freeware to create slide presentations, but I just couldn't (read: don't know how to) even after playing around with it for sometime.
I wanted to do something like this: http://www.threadless.com/submission/213927/Sky_Thief
I have the template for the above, though--I just want to change the images.
Am I missing something here?
Has anyone tried this SWF & FLV Player?:

Inserted .flv into Dreamweaver messes CSS
When I insert a Flash move (.flv) in my website (using Dreamweaver CS3) it messes upu my div boxes and all my webpage collapses. I tried to get rid of some div boxes to check if my CSS causes problems, however after inserting .flv my div boxes that contains this file shrink/collapse.
Here are URL with the web page without inserted flash move and others URLs with inserted flash move and deleted some of div boxes.

I am new in using CSS as well as using Flahs professional and really would appretiate any hint/idea to move me from this "dead end"
linaMy, but you do like JavaScript, don't you?
I can't spend much time in the JS, but for some reason the navigation.js in http://www.k-state.edu/elp/lab/BookReviews_7.html is adding KSU_twoColumn to your body tag so that it comes out as
<body class="KSU_fixed KSU_left1 KSU_twoColumn">
Which results in the margin-right property of KSU_maincontent to 0 by re-writing it thusly:
body.KSU_twoColumn div#KSU_mainContent {
margin-right:0;
Now, I have no idea why navigation.js doesn't do that for http://www.k-state.edu/elp/lab/BookReviews_7A.html as well. In there, your <body> stays as:
<body class="KSU_fixed KSU_left1">
And the KSU_maincontent properties stay as defined in the CSS:
div#KSU_mainContent {
margin-right:190px;
margin-top:0;
padding:16px 25px 20px 20px;
I don't understand the need to complicate simple CSS with JavaScript appending the classes, but if Jeff Croft (author of the class appender function in navigation.js) is still available to you, I recommend asking him for help.

DVD starting on insertion to player
I am using iDVD 08. I want my DVD to begin playing automatically when it is inserted into the player.
Very easy to do. Just open map view and drag and drop your QT movie to the very first box. Now your movie will play as soon as it is inserted into a typical set top dvd player or computer with Dvd-Rom or S-Drive. Btw, this is called an Autoplay Dvd.
Click Here
This is a sample view from iDvd 6 but the procedure is identical to iDvd'08.
Creating a DVD that plays automatically when it is inserted into a DVD player
You can create a DVD that consists of a single movie or slideshow that begins to play automatically when the viewer inserts the DVD into a player. Such a movie or slideshow is called an “autoplay” movie or slideshow. You can also set the movie or slideshow to loop so that it plays continuously in what is called “kiosk mode.” This is great for creating presentations to be used in a kiosk or for making simple projects that require minimum viewer interaction.
To create a looping autoplay DVD:
Open iDVD and choose “Create a New Project” in the dialog that appears.
Type a name for your project in the Save As field, and then click Create.
The iDVD window opens with a default theme selected. This theme will not appear in your final DVD because an autoplay DVD does not use a theme.
Click the Map button (shown below) to open the DVD map.
Click Media to open the Media pane, then click Photos or Movies.
Drag a movie or a photo album, or even a single image, from the Media pane to the project icon (shown below).
You can also drag images or movies stored elsewhere on your computer or a connected server.
You can use photos, movies, presentation slides (created in a program such as Keynote), or other image files in a slideshow created in iDVD. iDVD works with any image file that is supported by QuickTime (including PICT, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF.)
To turn on looping for the autoplay movie or slideshow (a single image is also considered a slideshow in this context), click the project icon and then choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow.
If you added a movie with sound, the audio of the movie is retained, so the viewer hears it during autoplay.
If you added a slideshow, you can double-click the project icon to open the slideshow editor. There you can add a single audio file or a playlist as a soundtrack and set other slideshow features, such as transitions and slide duration.
Click the Preview button (shown below) to see how your movie or slideshow looks.
The iDVD remote control opens, and your DVD begins to play immediately.
When you’re finished, click the Exit button on the DVD remote control to return to the iDVD window.
If you are sure your project is the way you want it, you can burn it to a DVD. When you put the final DVD into a DVD player, it begins to play immediately and will continue to play until you stop it.
