  • How to find a line/edge that starts at the same point as the end of another

I have an edges table of Lat/Lon data and for a specific edge I want to find any other edges that have the same start point as the end point of the given edge.
    I tried the following query:
    select geo_street_id from geo_street s2
    where SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_START_PT(s2.geom) =
    (select SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_END_PT(s.geom) as geom from geo_street s
    where geo_street_id = 122978214)
but it gets the following error:
ORA-22901: cannot compare nested table or VARRAY or LOB attributes of an object type
    Any Ideas?

    1. to compare geometry to be equal you should use appropriate function (SDO_GEOM.RELATE http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B14255_01/sdo_objgeom.htm#sthref1561) or operators (sdo_relate http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B14255_01/sdo_operat.htm#i78531) with specific mask EQUAL.
    2. to filter down the resultset in first place you can use the operator SDO_RELATE with mask TOUCH as this will return already the set of lines sharing endpoints, but will also include lines touching eachother not at endpoints (endpoint intersecting the otherone's interior)
    something like
    select geo_street_id from geo_street s2, geo_street s
    where
    s.geo_street_id = 122978214
    AND
    sdo_relate(s2.geom, s.geom,'mask=touch') = 'TRUE'
    AND
    sdo_geom.relate(SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_START_PT(s2.geom),
    'EQUAL',
    SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_END_PT(s.geom),0.005)='EQUAL'
    3. if you would do this for the full table, an SDO_JOIN (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B14255_01/sdo_operat.htm#BGEDJIBF) might be more appropriate.
    4. you might also consider 4 cases:
    start = start
    start = end
    end = start
    end = end
    5. alternative would be to take only the endpoints of your selected geometry and perform a touch with the edges. using the sdo_util.APPEND on the startpoint en endpoint of your geometry will return a multipoint. although there might some specific cases that this would not return respected result I think
    something like:
    select geo_street_id from geo_street s2, geo_street s
    where
    s.geo_street_id = 122978214
    AND
    sdo_relate(s2.geom,
    SDO_UTIL.APPEND(
    SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_START_PT(s.geom),
    SDO_LRS.GEOM_SEGMENT_END_PT(s.geom)
    ,'mask=touch') = 'TRUE'
Let us know how it works.

  • Home Sharing and Airplay: fall 2011 major trouble in iTunes to APTV, IOS devices - detailed run-through.

Dear all, and dear Apple - as you know flagged trouble regarding Home Sharing to devices and to APTV has grown exponentially this fall and it is high time Apple calmly regained control over the situation. Get a grip, this is a fundamental "it just works" reputational issue.
Having read lots of community posts I am struck by how many crosschecks I have done and still cannot get Home Sharing to ´just work´ anymore.
    Symptoms of my troubles include:
    (1) In iTunes the Home Sharing house icon is nowhere to be found on the left hand side even though I have turned it on several times.
    (2) Airplay icon was visible in the lower right corner of iTunes for about two minutes last night but then vanishes.
    (3) My iPhone4S cannot find my shared library (under "More" or anywhere else).
    (4) And APTV will occationally load my Mac library to play a purchased tv episode but is highly unstable. 1 in 4 attempts succesful.
Ah, you say, "this all sounds like your home network is either faulty or the signal is not strong enough", or "you have not set up Home Sharing right".
    OK, let´s see...
The Airport Extreme station is right next to APTV, and is itself connected via ethernet to my router - and besindes my Mac can still find a strong signal via wifi. I access internet on my wifi-only iPad2 easily throughout the house, nice and strong signal. The APTV menu tells me the signal strength is excellent, and, most importantly - it worked a couple of weeks ago with no change in settings. I played my iTunes Library on my iPhone via Home Sharing, and I watched APTV TV episodes streamed from my Mac upstairs.
So far I have triple-checked the following settings:
Home Sharing on my Mac turned on under Advanced? yes. (House icon appears - until I press the "Done" button, then it vanishes).
Even though the House icon is nowhere to be found, is Home Sharing still "On" under iTunes Advanced setting? yes.
Under Preferences, Sharing, all ticks are carefully turned on? yes.
APTV Home Sharing: the same ID details, correctly entered?  yes. And for a little while, or on occation we have access to my library on APTV (but not the other mobile devices). Then it vanishes again (Computer menu on APTV telling me to turn on Home Sharing with ID etc.)
Mobile devices, under Settings/Music, are the Home Sharing details the same as those on your Mac/iTunes? yes.
All software on APTV, iTunes, OIS and Lion up to date? yes, as of 18/12 2011. For iTunes I have 10.5.2 (11)
I also reset Factory Settings on my APTV, which enabled us to watch a TV episode last night, but this morning it is gone again.
Within limits of how many devices I can share my library or iTunes with ? yes, 2 computers are authorised on my ID, and 3 devices are authorised on iCloud (iPad2, iPhone 4S and this Mac).
Have you tried the degrading, not-up-to-Apple-standard way of unplugging APTV/Airport Extreme/Mac power, and restarting your iPad/iPhone4S? Yes.
Does Airplay work from devices to e.g. APTV? yes it does.
Can I access the internet or rent a movie on APTV? yes.
Is this a strength issue with my Mac? Is my Mac fast/strong enough? Yes; it is a 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, running 8GB/1067 MHz/DDR3. 100GB of available harddrive space.
Dear community - what have I forgotten to do, please? Any ideas?
And Apple: please help your repeat customers with these issues - clearly there are some room for improvement here!?
Regards and best wishes for the Season.

I seem to have a similar problem.  I have a Macbook and a PC, both running the current version of iTunes.  On the APTV (also running the current software version), only my Macbook library shows up under "computers".  Home Sharing is turned on for both and my Macbook library shows up under "Shared" on the PC, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on the Macbook or the APTV.
My question then is: How is it that my Macbook iTunes library can show up on the PC and on the APTV, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on either?  If the PC can see the shared libraries, doesn't that mean it's on the same network?  Along those same lines, "Shared" libraries do NOT show up on the Macbook.  Again I ask, how is it that I can see the Macbook library on the PC, but the Macbook doesn't show any Shared libraries?
All of this worked just fine before the upgrade to iOS 5 by the way.  I had no issues seeing any library on any devices and the APTV found both computers.
Please help.  This is really annoying!

  • Shared library for  MyFaces Trinidad

    Hello!
I'm having some trouble trying to create a shared library in OC4J 10.1.3.3.0. My goal is to deploy multiple applications that use MyFaces and Trinidad, but using a shared library that contains every JAR required.
This is what I've done so far:
    1. I created the directory D:\workspace\oc4j_10.1.3\j2ee\home\shared-lib\sidi\1 and put there every JAR included in MyFaces Trinidad Demo.
    2. Edited server.xml and added the following lines:
    <shared-library name="sidi" version="1">
    <code-source path="*"/>
    </shared-library>
3.- Edited the orion-application.xml in each application that needs MyFaces Trinidad support and added the following lines:
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <import-shared-library name="sidi" />
    </imported-shared-libraries>
When I try to run any application that uses MyFaces Trinidad, I get this error message:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions!
If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.
    A typical config looks like this;
    <listener> <listener-class>org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener</listener-class>

If I place the JARs inside each WEB-INF/lib the applications work, but I'm trying to avoid doing this to have smaller EARs when the applications are packaged for deployment in the production servers.
What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help me with this.

    Hi Aram,
The default behaviour of OC4J is to NOT run the listeners provided inside the taglibs. As for java server faces, tomahawk and trinidad use taglibs that rely on the listener configured in the tld file
You'd need not only to deploy the "shared library", but also, drop the jars in the $OC4J/j2ee/home/taglibs directory
And, make sure that in your "global-web-application.xml" you have:
    <orion-web-app
    [... whatever ...]
         jsp-cache-tlds="on"
         jsp-taglib-locations="../taglibs"
    >
that means, the attribute "jsp-taligb-locations is defined for the orion-web-app tag. With that, the listener is going to be loaded, and you'd not need to configure it in the web.xml

  • False sharing identification

I have a basic idea about false sharing and how to write a java program to avoid it.
Now I am interested in looking at the Studio analyzer's view of false sharing as shown in pages 34-36 in
    http://cscads.rice.edu/workshops/summer09/slides/performance-tools/DProfile.cscads.pdf
So I would like to know if there are instructions to view this information on a x86 Mac for a Java program. Can someone throw some light on this ?
    Thanks,
    Mohan

The OS is Mac 10.7.4. Can cache line sharing issues be viewed on this OS at this time ?

  • Admin Assistant with Multiple Line Pickups

I'm VERY new to Cisco Call Manager and Unity.  I've researched my question to see if I can find out the answers on my own.  Since I've been unsuccessful, I wanted to find out if the community can help me, as it has done before.
We have a few admin assistants that are asking if they can have their managers lines on their 7965 phones.  They want it to appear as a line that they can pick up, if their boss isn't answering.  They also want to know if they can tell if their boss is on that line.  I've tested by adding a 2nd DN on one of their buttons.  However, in doing so, when they go into their voicemail, to set their passwords, it sets the VM for the other line as well.  I've also tested this with a Group Call pickup, which worked, with one small issue.  The admin assistant wants to pick up their boss' line when he's not available.  When I set the call pick up group, it happens the other way as well.  When the admin assistant isn't available, her boss gets the call on his phone, which we don't want happening.
    We're using CM 8.x.x
I do appreciate your help with this.  I have SO much to learn!

    Stavros,
    I don't follow the statement:
However, in doing so, when they go into their voicemail, to set their passwords, it sets the VM for the other line as well.
There are several approaches you can take and I'd recommend you focus on the most simple configuration, which is the first one you describe. You take the manager's phone DN/Partition and you share the line with the administrative assistants phone.  When the manager is on the phone, the admin will know because the line on their station will glow red. The admin can also see and/or hear the manager's line ring. You can also configure how the admin assistant is notified. The default is to ring the line, but you can also have it beep or just have a visual (no sound) notification.
Now back to your voicemail issue. Again, I don't understand where you are running into problems. If I were to take a guess you may have your admins hitting the messages button and accidentally going into the manager's voicemail. This could happen if the manager has a VM waiting and the admin does not. On the device settings (for the admin's phone) look for the setting "Always Use Prime Line for Voice Mail". Toggle this to on and test your scenario.
What this paramter does is force the phone to always access the voicemail using the line configured on the first button. Ideally, this is your admin's line (with manager lines shared on one of the other six buttons).
Here is a link for more info on the parameter:

  • How to program voicemail prefix, night service,multiple-line appearance on BE3K?

    Hi All,
A few questions about BE3K as below :
    1.    What’s the default prefix  for voicemail  in BE3K ?  or how to program prefix for voicemail in BE3K ?
In UC500, we can manually program  a prefix number or code  such as “6”  , then dial "6" + extension to access to that extensions' voicemail  from any subscribed phone. We often use this "voicemail code + extension"  as night switch VM.
    2.    How to program night service/schedule in BE3K?
I understand there is  day/night service on Auto Attendant setting what if customer dosen't  want caller to hear any AA greeting or option 1, 2, 3 , most of  customers just simply want to caller reach a hunt group during the day and a voicemail greeting during the night ( again, how to program night switch VM?)
    3.    How to program multiple - line appearance on BE3K ?
You are more than welcomed to give answers or point me to right direction

    Billy,
    On 3....
A user can "own" multiple lines. These are provisioned on the user page. (Note that this is not required to have multiple lines on a phone, but is a way to assign multiple lines to a user if that is desired when sharing lines on a phone.)
One the phone configuration page, just keep adding more lines to the phone in the "extensions" area.
When adding more lines to a phone, if you enter the same extension multiple times, then the phone enters a "roll-over" mode. In this mode, each line (of the same extension) will only allow one call. The next call then appears on the next line on the phone of that extension. Some customers prefer this mode of behavior.
When using roll-over mode, be sure to take into account any other phone that shares that extension. You'll want both phones to be in roll-over mode. If one phone is in multi-call mode for that extension (the extension appears on the phone only once), and another phone has the same extension in roll-over mode (the extension appears more on the phone more than once), then while both phones will ring with the first call, only the first phone (mult-call mode) will ring if a second simultaneous call arrives. This is because in roll-over mode, the second phone cannot handel the second call, and wants to forward it to the next line appearance. However, the first phone (multi-call mode) can handle the call on that line. So, the second call is offered to that phone without forwarding to the next line appearance.
If you want to mix these two modes, configure two phones with the same line (shared line) and setup the two phones differently, one in roll-over mode, and the other with just one line appearance. Then, use other phones to call that extension so that you can experiance the behavior first hand. It can be a bit confusing to get a problem report from one of your end users because of this missconfiguration. Seeing it first hand will help you recognize if you ever accidentally enter this configuration. This missconfiguration cannot be prevented as you pass through it when assigning lines to phones. However, the GUI does not warn you that you are in this configuration.

  • TS2972 Cannot get home sharing and airplay to work over corporate wifi.  Cisco WLC 5508 controllers.  Home sharing and Airplay is turned on.  Apple ID and account the same on each device.  All software is at the latest version.  Devices work individually.

All devices at latest software.  Each device works individually ie. apple tv can play netflix and hulu videos, itunes works on both an iPad2 and a Pc with latest itunes version.  Firewall disabled ports open.  Devices on same vlan.  Laptop can ping ipad and apple-tv, iPad can ping laptop and apple-tv.  The deives just do not see each other ever.  All cisco settings are set to recommended settings for home sharing to work.  Any ideas?

  • Need to move 1 (out 3) family plan lines to an individual plan with employer discount intact

I've tried to find this answer via search but it seems everyone's scenario is a bit different, so I'm asking here in hope's a kind soul can give me a good answer.
We have a 3 line family plan currently that is being discounted via my employer. My wife is leaving me, which means I need to break out to a single line and no longer be a part of that family plan (she'll continue to pay for her line and her father's). Issues I'm curious on:
I want to keep my number. Can I?
Will the current family plan continue to get the discount? Will I be eligible to get my employer's discount on a new single line plan?
Will we be in violation of contract and have to pay ETFs if I move my line?
Any other unforeseen issues with trying to do this?
Thanks very, very much for trying to help me in this tough time.

Hey there, SaintBreesy09! I'm very sorry to hear of the changes in your personal life. May these adjustments lead to happier days for all involved!
Thanks for reaching out about you account needs. I have answers to all of the questions you've posted!
    1. Yes, you can keep your current number. The way I read your post, the account you have now appears to be in your name. Therefore, you can create a second bill level whereby the bills from the original bill level (account number ending in -00001) would continue to go to the original billing address, while your line goes to the second level (account number ending in -00001). Both bill levels would remain in your name, and you have the option to continue getting your employee discount (can't be confirmed until we see what the terms are for your specific discount agreement). If you don't own the current account, you can move your line to a new or existing account via a process called Assumption of Liability. Details on that are here: http://vz.to/1aqrvX0
    2. Yes, the discount may continue as long as the account ownership doesn't change, and as long as the agreement between Verizon Wireless and the employer remains in effect.
    3. No violation. No ETF. As long as all lines remain with Verizon Wireless, you're golden!
    4. The only possible issues you may encounter are monthly service charges. With all lines sharing the plan now, that's possibly lower than it would be to separate them. It really depends on the plan you have now. I recommend reviewing the plan itself. If you need help with that, you can call Customer Care at 800-922-0204 from 6am to 11pm daily, or I can help you directly.

  • Draw non-joined lines from endpoint of existing lines

I asked on the general AI forum how to draw lines from existing line endpoints without the two being joined, and I got the answer that you can't. So I think this calls for a feature request: give the user the possibility to draw a line at the endpoint of a pre-existing line without joining the two. Up till now the current functionality has two drawbacks for me:
    1. It makes creating the following pulse diagram a PITA:
When I draw a line starting from the arrowhead the arrowhead moves to the new endpoint. Here I had to draw the new line elsewhere on my page and drag it over the arrow.
    2. If you draw a line to the end of an existing line in a group it gets automatically joined to it, and thus becomes part of that group, even when you're not working in isolation mode. Again I have to draw my line at another place on the page and drag it to the grouped object afterwards.
So, feature request: allow lines sharing a common end- and start point without being joined.

This is not the ability of usual flex classes. You should explore on how the 3D coordinates system of Flex works, and learn some classes usability, such as Matrix3D, for example.

  • Disk sharing problems

I have an iMac that shares external disks (mac disks/not windows) on the local network.
Until recently, these drives have been accessible to other Mac's on the network.
This has recently stopped working. Other users see the main iMac under shared, and can browse to the shared drives. As soon as a user attempts to open one of the shared drives is opened in the finder, the error "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for "disk name" cannot be found.
If I give the user admin rights, then the disk become browsable on the users Mac. unfortunately, it is not desirable to provide the user with admin rights against the main iMac.
So, Bottom line, Sharing of disks/folders on external HD's to other machines on the network where the user is not an administrator on the machine doing the sharing (i.e. Declared as a standard user), no longer seems to function.
I have also tried setting ignore permissions on the shared disks, explicitly setting permissions on the shared disks and setting connect to server "smb://xxx". nothing short of giving users Admin access seems to work.
For info, I have also tried a disconnect and "connect as" using the iMacs (Sharing machine) admin account on a MacBook Pro. This allowed me to connect to the shared disks.
    Would appreciate some help/ideas?
I need to get the 2 primary shares back online as these are important, but really do not want to grant admin rights to the other users.

Okay, sorted this out for myself.
I have added the answer to my problem in case it is useful for anyone else.
The issue was caused because I set sharing permissions for a new disk from the
"System Preferences" -> Sharing option, rather than through the "info" window for the disk.
This apparently causes a problem by creating multiple share aliases (a bug).
    To fix this,
    1. Open a terminal session.
    2. Type the command: sudo dscl (you will then need to enter your password)
3, Type: cd /Local/Default/SharePoints (<-- This is case sensitive)
    4. Type: ls
The above command should list the share names.
In my case there were multiple references such as,
    Backup, Backup-1, Backup-2
I deleted ALL share aliases (other than the public folders named "xx Public Folder")
    5. To delete, type: delete "share name"
ie, delete Backup-1 or delete "Backup disk" (quoted if the name contains spaces)
    6. Type: exit <- to quit dscl.
    7. use the "Get info" window from a disk or directory and enable sharing again.
DO NOT set sharing via "System properties -> Sharing"
    Hmmm... that worked for me.....
Hope this info might be of some use to someone else.
Took me a while to find this out...

  • Hp laserjet m1536dnf mfp

My m1536dnf mfp was sending & receiving faxes until this morning. I now have 14 faxes "Pending".
    Can't get anything to transmit.

    Hey @dcraigen,
I would like to assist you in resolving your fax issue of not being able to send or receive faxes on your HP Laserjet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction printer. The first thing we really need to do is get rid of the pending faxes. Unfortunately you will need to send these after we get the printer up and running again.
    Delete Stored Faxes:
Touch the Setup button on the Control Panel for your printer
Right arrow to 'Service' and select OK
    Select OK on Fax Service
Select OK on Clear Saved Faxes
Next open your Setup menu again and right arrow to Fax Setup and select OK
Right arrow to Advanced Setup and select OK
Right arrow to Redial if Busy - disable this and OK
Right arrow to Redial -no answer- disable this and OK
Right arrow to Redial Comm - disable this and OK
Once the Fax is cleared of the 14 pending faxes then we can work to resolve this issue.
In order for me to provide you with accurate support I do have a few questions for you:
Are you using a Dedicated Fax Line just for the fax machine or is the phone line shared with your telephone?
Does your Fax Phone Cable go from the rear of the printer directly into the wall jack or is there a modem or splitter in between?
Is there an Answering Machine or Voice Mail on the phone line?
    Who is your Telephone Provider?
Do you know if your phone line is DSL?
In the meantime, I'm going to refer you to an HP support document for fax issues. Please run through these step-by-step instructions:
    Cannot Send or Receive Faxes
Please let me know if any of these steps resolve your issue. Should you still be experiencing issues be sure to respond to this post with the answers to my questions above.
Thanks for contacting the HP Support Forums. Good luck!
    X-23
I work on behalf of HP
Please click "Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the "Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the right to say "Thanks" for helping!

  • Lion Server Setup (Network Login/Mobile Account and more...)

    Hardware:
Mac mini Intel Core i7, 2 GHz, 8 GB memory (Server)     x 1
         iMac 21.5" 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 12 GB memory (Workstation)     x 6
    Operating System:
        Mac OS X Server Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
         Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
    Relevant Software:
         Server.app Version 10.7.4 (1.4.3)
         Workgroup Manager Version 10.7 (400.3)
         Server Admin Version 10.7 (355)
So my head's swimming with "I dunno's" and I've been perusing probably all the wrong threads trying not to sound like a noob and find the literature that will finally lead me to a solution.  This is my first rodeo so make no assumptions about my experience (maybe).
    Short Version
I can't login network users.  I get an error "You are unable to log in to the user account "<%short_name%>" at this time.  Logging in using >console tells me this No home directory: <path to home directory>    i.e. /Network/Servers/department.domain.com/Department/Accounts/bbunny
If anyone can point me where to read, I will do so.
Perhaps a longer discussion on how to verify that the proper permissions exist on the share/home directory in question and what those would be.
    More detail...
I want to setup a Mac Mini server to have network login accounts stored on the 2nd data volume in a directory we shall call Accounts*.  Here all the "network users/logins" have their home directories, so that when they login at the workstation the idea is the workstation will sync their account and allow them to login, if the server is not available, the hope is I can configure it to allow them to login if they've logged in before and the files will sync when they are able. That being the ideal, I get the impression that for best practices, Apple is discouraging the use of mobile accounts that use Home Sync perhaps because it's reliability has been iffy, please advise.  A windows user might think of this as "roaming profiles" but, if I understand it, its a little more than that.
Note, I do not want to login to the server and actively work on that network share, I want the account to be local and sync'd as needed.  But I want the user to be able to sit at any of the 6 other workstations and see the same documents, emails etc.  Obviously if the server is down, it won't be possible to authenticate, but I think it should have cached credentials that should allow the user to login if the server is down and still go about their work.
This is the small picture...there is a larger picture that involves, parallel virtual machines of Windows Server 2008 R2 on server and and Windows 7 on the client, ical, ichat and perhaps wiki's.
I apologize for the roughness of this question, in the interest of brevity, I have plenty of problems that led me here that I can expound upon if asked.
Also a silly question someone might know the answer too, Why does the login payload settings that I have pushed to a workstation device, sometimes vanish inconsistently upon logout?

Ok, Some Good news and clearer understanding to disseminate in this post I hope it helps
"the Universe" so I am posting it here in my "ever-the-noob" blog on apple forums.
    Problem
What do you do when you get an error when logging into a mobile account setup?
One symptom would be the error message below...
"You are unable to log in to the user account "<%short_name%>" at this time.
Logging in using >console  You get the message…
"No home directory: <path to home directory>"
         or
"You are unable to log in to the user account "<%short_name%>" at this time.
Logging in using >console tells me this No home directory: <path to home directory>
    Solution
    Do the check list…
    Short Version
Sever Admin.app > Access (Key Component)
Check Permissions on directories for your file shares.
(The reason stuff doesn't work especially when you're rebuilding/recovering a server)
File sharing setup (Turned ON, Home sharing Enabled)
Directory Utility > Directory Editor or dscl
( Do not underestimate the importance of this part!!!!
Use white-gloves when you're handling it though!!! )
    Workgroup Manager
(You're poopy "main" interface that really is a "window", not a "door", but maybe Apple likes to do things "Dukes of Hazard" style?)
    Long Version
    Check Sever Admin.app > Access
Make sure that your user has the "Proper" access.  For me I created a test user from Server.app and saw what access he had as a way to "check myself for a properly created users" and because I think one is kind of on his/her own using WGM and duplicated the same access. (I was a little neater, though and did it with a group, not individual users, that would have been a mess!)
    Server Admin.app > Access
Click the "+" sign, sort by UID and Add the imported users  to the following Services…
( You can use a group, but understand when Server.app creates users they get added
individually to each of these groups. )
    Address Book
    AFP
    iCal
    iChat
    Mail
    Profile Manager
    SMB
    VPN
Check Permissions on directories for your file shares.
(That's an understatement) I could go in depth about all the crap I had to read about, I still
know I am missing a chunk of tech brain when it comes to the particulars. Basically, I boil
              it down to this…
Permissions require thinking about things first with regards to POSIX permissions... good
ole ls, chmod, chgrp, chown to the rescue with ugo permissions or the old 755, 600 etc
              stuff.
Apple's file-sharing access uses this as a starting point to see what the user is allowed to
              access.
I also needed to use chflags once to unhide a file that I mucked around with using xattr.
I still haven't figured out why folders can lose their triangles, but I didn't find out if you cp or
move them from terminal, the triangles come back in the moved or copied directory.  For a
minute I thought it was because cp alone doesn't preserve flag attributes, but mv actually
works by doing a cp that preserves the flags, unless it's a bug.  I dunno.
This helped me get my file visible again...
              chflags hidden path_to_file
              chflags nohidden path_to_file
Read up on those manuals, if you're not a terminal type go to apples website
              http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/
              or download...
http://www.bruji.com/bwana/ I thought that was cool.
or if you prefer to read the manual in pdf try…
      man -t sharing | pstopdf -i -o ./Desktop/Sharing\ Manual.pdf
              man -t chown | pstopdf -i -o ./Desktop/CHOWN\ Manual.pdf
              man -t chmod | pstopdf -i -o ./Desktop/CHMOD\ Manual.pdf
              man -t chgrp | pstopdf -i -o ./Desktop/CHGRP\ Manual.pdf
My basic guideline was avoid using ACLs if at all possible, if you try to use them, things
can get crazy complicated, take notes and plan, baby. If you read above, opening up
permissions wide is wrong though.  You would restrict permissions tightly to begin with and
then place ACE (Access Control Entries) to specifically target the rights you want to enable.
Here's one that's obviously a novice attempt to do this, but since the novice is the only one
              speaking…. here it is, Universe… >:P
              sudo chmod -R +ai "admin allow read,write,delete,file_inherit,directory_inherit,search,list" Department/
That allowed my admin to do all the things a normal user could do so far… It fixed things for
my admin, which made me happy.  I really hate having to authenticate or sudo just to see
the contents of a nested directory.  I could explain it, and even give a few notes on why its
probably overkill, but I will attempt to look less stupid till "poked".
There's another command line utility I STILL haven't read, which may bear mentioning
because…well I haven't read it.  umask (see wikipedia or unix.com)…I worked past my
problems without going into it so far, but obviously it's there, and it serves a purpose.
I also found this article helpful…and educational.  :O
              http://www.bresink.de/osx/300321023/Docs-en/pgs/ACL.html
(          Its enlightening to hear the air whistling between a developer/coder's ears, still it's
apparent he has a clear idea what's going on.
Ever wonder why when you use get info to check or assign permissions it kind of
flakes out and doesn't take?  Read this article!          )
Second, if you can't obtain the "specific" permissions you need with POSIX, chmod also
can set the 2nd category of permissions, which windows users may be familiar with
Access Control Lists (ACLs) and here you get some really fine granularity...messy stuff.
All in all, if I felt I could guide you through these murky waters, I would, but I think I'll let
the professionals weigh in on that one and cut my wall-of-text to ribbons.
To heuristically check I would connect from a client as one or two of my users and see what
folders I could mount as a share, armored with an understanding of what ls -le@O * showed
              me in Terminal.
3.)           File sharing setup (Turned ON, Home sharing Enabled)
Here is an example of using command line sharing utility where each share is properly
labeled (that took a bit for me to figure out) still this share only enables the AFP share as
you can see from my flags.
      sudo sharing -a /Volumes/Hard\ Drive/Department/Database -A Database-afp -F Database-ftp -S Database-smb -n Database -s 100 -g 000 -i 10
Then you do a sudo sharing -l and get back what you just did…
                                              List of Share Points
              name:                    Database
              path:                    /Volumes/Hard Drive/Department/Database
                        afp:          {
                        name:          Database-afp
                        shared:          1
                        guest access:          0
                        inherit perms:          1
                        ftp:          {
                        name:          Database-ftp
                        shared:          0
                        guest access:          0
                        smb:          {
                        name:          Database-smb
                        shared:          0
                        guest access:          0
If you mess up the sharing command, you may not be paying attention (I wasn't) but there
are a lot of defaults that Apple will just assume you meant to do anyway and it won't read
any of your flags, you have to get it right or the flags will be defaulted.
(          Basically I could tell I was bombing it for one, I explicitly only wanted afp working, but
the default was afp and smb.  So each time I ran sudo sharing -l after I shot my sharing
command…back would come smb shared: 1 and I knew that wasn't right.  Also my
custom names were defaulting to the name of the directory not the name I had
                        specified.           )
I like to know what protocol my share is over so when it doesn't work, I know which protocol's
are connecting. It's not full-proof, but it's a bookmark.  I wish the network browser would
identify the protocol that its available listed shares are using, because small visual queues
like that help when you're trying to see what works.  Maybe that's something I should
              investigate via the command line?
As a note about reading forums, I discovered using command line that "\" is kind of like a
way of going to next line neatly with long commands…."\ " is a way to insert a space. As you
can see above where I have a volume with a space in it.
              Removing shares was a little trickier though, sharing -r Share\ With-space didn't work….I
had to enclose it in quotes and do "Share With-space" instead. So nooby beware!
(          *nix users are now rolling their eyes at this tip.          )
I wasn't sure how you enabled a share for home directories from the command line, maybe its
in the manual, but I was up to my eyeballs in manuals already so I haven't gone back to
revisit this question since my work around was to go to Server.app and verify that what I set
up in the sharing in terminal was being reflected in the gui…sort of my own MVC
              (model-view-controller) check.
4.)           Directory Utility > Directory Editor or dscl
Make sure what you see in WGM and Server.app are reflected here….to that question let's
take a journey where I did some exploring about that.
Ever really wonder "WHY CAN"T I REMOVE AN OLD HOME DIRECTORY SHARE?!!!"
              Ah, then you will  - LOVE -  this tip…
(          Provided my testing or yours, later, doesn't prove that in my ignorance I've broken
Open Directory. Remember, WHITEGLOVES!!!! but here we get a little dirty.  I think of
OD as Apple's Registry, but that's not what it is at all. However, you as the user do have
to "****" around in it from time to time.          )
I scoured the forums and everyone was saying things like "You have to change your server
role" etc. which seemed a little bit dumb to me (dumb because you're pushing views around
not "controlling"), and well, yea, that share that I couldn't modify or delete was REALLY
              bugging me.
Now hmm… Before you do ANYTHING, how do you try to not hurt yourself…in Windows you
can make a Registry Backup….(yea bad analogy)  In Server Admin.app you can go to your Open
Directory Service > Archive and Choose a place to Archive your information. (Figure this out by
yourself, this is getting long…sheesh! It's easy. Restoring is just as easy and painless.)
Before we can remove the entry we "SEE" in WGM we should make sure no
one has it selected so as not to "corrupt" the OD db, so in WGM first before going to Directory
Utility set the Home directory to "None".  (We need to remember to set this to a correct share
              later….Mental Note!!!)
              Now Open Directory Utility
              Method 1
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options
Click the Lock to make changes…
Authenticate -> click "OK"          (do I REALLY have to step-by-step this?)
Network Account Sever: • Local Server - click "Edit" button here.
Open Directory Utility > Directory Editor
(          Wow, did Apple hire someone from Microsoft?  You'ld think with all their research in to
Human Interface Design that's WAY too many clicks to get to something you need.          )
              or
Method 2 (It's good to know about this directory, neat-o speed-o app's hidden here.)
Use "Go to Folder" Under Finder > Go > Go to Folder...
      ⇧⌘G /System/Library/CoreServices/
              Click "OK"
              and Double click Directory Utility.app
              or
              Method 3
              Terminal
              open /System/Library/CoreServices/Directory\ Utility.app/
Now From the Directory Editor Pane you will see a Pop-up menu Labeled "Viewing"
You should glance through this and get to know it.  You should use it to see what
information is really being stored about your Users, Groups, Mounts…
We are interested in Mounts, which is where we want to go…and there is the pesky
mount that you will see reflected in WGM.
              Authenticate, and delete the bugger.
Quit WGM and restart it.  Voila, bad share is GONE!!!!!
a.)          First select all my users
b.)           Then I clicked on the "+" and added the correct share
(          Remember, I only showed you the first one we created, this is another and
for THIS one you HAVE to go into Server.app and verify that it is set to be
available for Home Directories in this case for AFP.          )
For the home directory entry you do this...
                        afp://computer.domain.com/Accounts-afp
                        %short_name%
                        /Network/Servers/computer.domain.com/Volumes/Hard\ Drive/Department/Accounts/%short_name%
%short_name% is a wild card for the short name there are other wild cards check out Apple's
Documentation on them.  I lost the link   sorry \<shrug\>
Interesting dscl commands…(check it out in command line form and compare side by side with
what you see in the GUI Directory Utility)
              dscl . list /users
              dscl . list /groups
If you want to output information about each user, though, use readall:
              dscl . readall /users
              dscl . readall /groups
And if you need to programatically parse said information, use -plist to make your life easier:
              dscl -plist . readall /users
              dscl -plist . readall /groups
This made a little more direct sense to me, language wise…but fyi "." is kind of a wild card I think so the first
commands I think look in ALL directories local, Search, LDAP whatever you have.  The command here
corresponds to the Entry from the Pop-up menu "…in node > Blah…" see GUI of Directory Utility to confirm.
              dscl /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 -list /Users
              dscl /Local/Default -list /Users
    5.)          Workgroup Manager
Remember this is a utility that is not long for this world.  Apple's Mountain Lion is rumored to fully
replace it, why? Yea, Apple's making a go at MDM (Mobile Device Management) and somehow
desktop computers are being pulled/dragged along for the ride.  I have plenty of issues with
Profile Manager, but I'll likely revisit it in a couple of months and see where we stand.
Anyway, treat this baby like the bottom rung, because, well it is built like you start your
foundation here, but it's just a viewer with controlling "tweaks".  Use the other areas to get a solid
grasp of what is actually going on.  Server.app is where you should create accounts you can
feel are safe.  When you create accounts in WGM, you are responsible for making sure they
              have the appropriate EVERYTHING.
This list is by no means complete, but these are the areas this noob is or was prepared to talk about.
Good night for now.  Enjoy climbing my wall of text, and yea sorry about that.  :O Run for you lives!!!!

  • Cumulative Balance Running Total

    Hello community,
i am doing a business partner Account balance report, i have already successfully fetch my data in to crystal reports as well as the running total for the cumulative balance, my problem is i have a duplicated rows in debit side, now how will i say to crystal reports (in Formula expression) that the 1st line if duplicated will the only one to be evaluated. for more detail please see image below
    http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/abing430/CRDuplicatedRows.png
    http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/abing430/CRDuplicatedRows-1.png
    please help.
    best regards,
    Fidel

    hello sharonamt,
    thanks for the response.
    //Head
    Shared NumberVar OB := {Command.Open Balance}
    //Line
    shared numbervar OB;
    OB := OB + {BP_AccountBalance;1.Credit} - {BP_AccountBalance;1.Debit}
    //Footer
    Shared numbervar OB
i have this ff. formula the header is put in the page header, the line is put ing Group Footer section and the footer is put in report footer section. my group is grouped by Ref field w/c is unique in this report.
the duplicated rows is eliminated since i put my line formula in the group footer. but using the ff. formula's the report is ok, the results is fine on the first page only, because in the second page it will get the OB balance which is in the page header of the report., i dont needt to reset my running total.
    thanks.
    please help
    best regards.
    EDIT:
i have manage to figure out my problem... i just use this formula and it works.
    whileprintingrecords;
    if pagenumber = 1 then Shared NumberVar OB := {OpeningBalance.Open Balance}
    else
    0
since im having problem with reseting of the openingbalance, i had trap the page numvber and never reset the running total. this formula works for me as of now.

  • Merge two family plans

My wife and I have a family plan.  We will be out of contract and be eligable for an upgrade in about a month.  We want to take our numbers to her sisters family plan so we can all save some money. Is it possible to do this and how can it best be done without a lapse in service.  Also, should my wife upgrade her phone before or after making the plan switch?

You can definitely merge your account to your sister in-law Verizon Wireless account.  This can be done via an Assumption of Liability (AOL), which can be completed by phone and it takes just a few minutes. Simply call 1-800-922-0204 and have our customer service representative notate your account with authorization for AOL including the name of the person assuming liability for your numbers (your sister in-law). Then have the person assuming the numbers (your sister in-law) call the same number and our AOL team will complete the transaction. Your upgrades can be done before or after the Assumption of Liability.
Please note that a Family Share calling plans can have a maximum of 5 lines sharing the same calling plan.
