One Happy Camper!

I am a new subscriber to Verizon. I got my LG Lucid phone on April 18th, and have not turned back. Not even for a second! I was a customer of Metro PCS when I decided to go to Verizon, but it really didn't take a lot of thought to make this decision.Metro was terrible. Dropped calls, a phone sold to me that the sales person said was a wonderful phone that turned out to be a total piece of garbage, and EVERY employee at the local Metro store  was rude and completely unknowledgeable about their own services and products. No, I won't rant, but I will point out that I have also been a customer to T-Mobile, Sprint, AND AT&T before coming to Verizon. God, I wish I had come here sooner. The LG Lucid phone is one FANTASTIC piece of equipment. It's FAST as lightning, bright, and crisp display, and easy to navigate. The employees at both of the Verizon stores I've been to have been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and honestly seem to want to help. The only downside that I found was that my phone is so new on the market that it was difficult to find a case for it. Big Deal! Anyway, if the heads of Verizon ever read these posts, I certainly hope they take note of mine.I love this company so far and will be happy to spread that sentiment anywhere, at any time...

As a nearly 12 yr customer with this company I have had many ups and downs and right now my experience is way down, that explains why I would be compelled to visit this place (considering I should be doing chores) but frustration and confusion have brought me to look for solace in the company of others with similar experiences. Surely I wasn't the only person who had been mislead by uninformed CS reps, and I find that to be the case. To your delight in finding someone who you can showcase as a happy camper, I congratulate you and Verizon. Make the most of it. It could be good advertising. The best one gets from inadequate help is an apology. Little value in that. I see that the majority of people who have bad CS experiences, finally admit that it is a lost cause and we should not even expect good help. We should instead wade through the website looking for the right answer. Or better yet go somewhere we TRUST. The internet at large, offers better and more consistent help than I get from VZ CS reps. This post is really meant to inform other frustrated VZ customers not so much as a rebuke to the giddy acceptance of 'posisivity'  and exploitation thereof. I came to these forums to see how other people were being treated, and how they dealt with it. Mostly though my comments have been picked at , sniped at by CLs, derided by 'know it alls' but coincide with a considerable number of other frustrated people. How would any entity realize it has a problem without people telling them ?  I will soon abandon my visits (surely to the approval of the snipers) here in favor of a more productive venue of enlightenment regarding my smartphone experience, and how to push back at 'bottom line serving' corporate structures that have little concern for what isn't working for me.

  • Misled about free 1GB promotion, not a happy camper

    VZ:
Back in early September when the iPhone pre-registration opened, I wanted to take advantage of both the 1) iPhone trade-in program (for the 6/6 plus) as well as the 2) free 1GB promotion for each new smartphone purchased, and so I switched over to a More Everything plan (which re-entered into a new 2-year contract -- I was previously out of contract), and purchased 4 new smartphones.
After waiting for about a month, the phones finally arrived, and I have gone and activated one of them. I logged onto my account expecting to see an extra 1GB added, but nothing. So after some searching around the forums here it appears that the 1GB promotion expired on 9/30??
If this is true and I can no longer get the 4 x 1GB on my account, then I am going to be extremely upset. When I was placing my order for the 4 phones on the phone with a sales rep on 9/13, the rep had distinctly mentioned that I would be eligible for the 4 x 1GB. HOWEVER, first of all, he/she failed to mention that the promotion would end on 9/30. Secondly, he/she also failed to mention that that would be a problem for me since all 4 phones which I ordered would only be shipped by mid-to-late October. Had I known that I would not be able to get the 4 x 1GB because I would not receive the phones in time to activate them before 9/30, I would have strongly considered switching carriers, especially since I was already out of contract at that point. But unfortunately, now I'm stuck in a new 2-year contract with no 4GB that I was assured I would get.
Is there someone who can clarify or correct this issue?

So after several weeks of back and forth via AndreaS_VZW, I am glad to say Verizon has come through and resolved my issue. It was by no means an overnight process, and there were some hiccups along the way (not AndreaS_VZW's fault by any means), but thanks in large part to AndreaS_VZW I am now back to being a happy camper.
Kudos to AndreaS_VZW for her patience and professionalism throughout my ordeal. I also appreciated the fact that she provided me with unsolicited status updates during the process. Hope anyone else facing similar issues will have as much luck as I did.

  • Not a happy camper!

Love my new iPad. HATE that the 3G must be manually turned on and off even when Wifi is active. Hate that this is not noted anywhere. Really hate that this burned through $15 of 3G in 5 minutes and I have to eat it. The 3G icon is not active, only wifi is showing. Why in the world would it use cell data plan??? Really REALLY not a happy camper!

I appreciate the feedback but that was the only time 3G overrode wifi. I didn't know about turning off 3G, I just thought it worked like my iPhone - wifi if available and 3G if not. Plus I know to check the icons and the 3G never came up. It really bothers me! Anyway I guess i was just ranting here - I know AT&T will do nothing and apple doesn't stand up to AT&T (lol) ... I'm moving go verizon as soon as possible with my iphone!!

  • Am I the only one happy....

Am I the only one that is happy for my Iphone 4s. I have not had an Iphone before but I am very pleased with my new phone. I got the white 16gb 4s and I am in love with it. I am not sure why everyone has so many problems with it. I get good battery life, I can charge it up at night then won't have to worry about charging it until the evening of the next day. I work in a spot where there is hardly ANY reception and it usually uses way more battery because it is constantly trying to get reception. I really ahve no complaints about it, and am kind of curious why I see so many on the forums, why is everyone so unhappy with it......
    Thanks Matt.

    Hi Matt...
Not everyone. Take into consideration the complaints you see on these forums are miniscule compared to the number of iPhones that have been sold worldwide.
"Apple said it sold more than 4 million units over its first weekend"

  • Not a Happy Camper - Please help!

I bought my iMac in October 2007 after living in the Windows world for decades. I had finally had enough of Microsoft's bugs and looked forward to being able to use a computer without having to become a tech support guru myself. Alas, I've got "some issues" that I desperately need your help or opinion on.
My system is a 20" iMac upgraded to 2GB or RAM. I also have a WD 500GB external drive. Everything else is stock.
    My issues are as follows:
    1) The system sometimes is either slow or applications freeze
    2) Time Machine has stopped working again. Even if I try to manually do a backup nothing happens.
    3) The system occasionally loses a setting such as asking me to enter my password for email, or when I open up Pages or Word, I get the welcome as if it's never been opened before.
I have reloaded the OS (Leopard - purchased later) twice now, and the system usually seems to work fine until I reload my documents.
The only software currently loaded beyond the OS is iWork and Office Mac 2004. I'm wondering if there could be something in my data that is causing my issues? My data consists mainly of photos, music, and some Excel & Word docs.
I'd be glad to answer & expand on anything so that I can begin to enjoy the Mac world, but for now I'm very cautious. I've already lost two months worth of data when I didn't realize that Time Machine wasn't working properly.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ashford

    1) You might want to start from scratch again but this time do not migrate your files with the migration assistant. Create a new user name and password, install iWork and Office, install all Apple software updates, then transfer your files over one section at a time testing each one to make sure its working properly before transferring anything else.
Run Disk Utility on your system and external drive. Open Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility select your hard drive on the left then under the first aid tab click Repair Disk Permissions. You can also Verify your startup volume and click Repair Disk on your external drive. Make sure that your external is formatted Mac OS Extended(Journaled). If it is not Mac formatted it will not work properly if at all with Time Machine. Repairing the Disk Permissions is something you can do periodically especially after installing Apple updates.
Breakdown your files basically into 4 categories and set them up separately one section at a time: Pictures, Music, Documents, and email. If you need any help with this process let us know.
    2) After the initial setup and manual migration of your files, disconnect your external drive and leave it off for the first week or so. This is to make sure everything is running smoothly as is without the external attached. If all works smoothly after the first week then move on to setting up Time Machine with your external drive. This way if it goes downhill at that point you will no where the problem lies. Also depending on how your hard drive is formatted and what you want to do with it I may have suggestions on how to set it up.
    3) This is normal if the Application receives a software update from Apple. Go to the Apple Menu in the top left hand corner choose System Preferences/Software Update. Leave the box checked to Check for updates Weekly but un-check Download important updates automatically. This way there are no background tasks running slowing you down or hogging your bandwidth un-knowingly.

  • 2.2 Happy Camper

I've been running 2.2 since last night. I must say everything is running faster and smoother (e.g., mail, safari, etc.). And the Street View rocks!

I seriously think that this was a promise on the 2.1 update and I did not see a significant change in the "increased battery life" and I don't think that we will see it in this one either. There are several things that you can do to increase battery life, but you pretty much have to turn the whole phone off in order to do that. We'll see if this update is any different.

  • Hello every one, happy new year!

Hello, I am a loyal user of Apple, with Apple for a long time, I want to know about siri siri when support for the Chinese? Why can not support the iPhone 4? This is not unfair iphone4 users? My E-mail: [email protected], I hope to give a good explanation, thank you

" I want to know about siri siri when support for the Chinese? "
"In 2012, Siri will support additional languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish."
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/siri-faq.html
This is all that has been announced.
"Why can not support the iPhone 4?"
We cannot answer that.  Only Apple would know for sure, but they ( like most any company) do not annoucne such things.
"This is not unfair iphone4 users? "
No.  Why is it unfair?  On most any porduct in the world, the newer models have the newer features.
You probably should not leave your e-mail address on a public forum.

  • Why is it that the wallpapers are too big for the screen? I liked how in iOS 6 that you could make it whatever size you wanted. Please Please Please bring that back and you will have one happy customer!!!

Is there is a reason why pictures in iOS 7 don't work well with setting your backgrounds??
This needs to be changed back to iOS 6 style for setting backgrounds, otherwise everything else is good.

"Why" - because Apple designed it that way, probably to allow for the motion-parallax effect in the iOS 7 home screen.  It has been this way since iOS 7 was released 6 months ago.  Why are you first noticing it now?

  • My new Mac Pro 2.66..how sweet it is!

So I received my new Mac Pro and, while in the process of setting things up, I have to say this is one gorgeous machine having opted for the ATI 4870 card and 6 GBs of RAM. Compared to my old G5 it is silent; the only fan noise occurs upon booting and then... *cricket chirps*
I salvaged the G5's stock hard drive (160Gb, SATA 1.5) and another 500GB Maxtor (SATA 3.0) and now have 3 HDDs. Suggestions how to use the 2 extra drives?
The only minor annoyances are a click that sounds every so often (the same click you hear when you put your mac to sleep) and the space bar on the wired alu. KB which makes a loose "clackity" sound when pressed. I may ask for an exchange.
Otherwise I am one happy camper with my new Mac Pro!!!!
    Frank

    Hi Frank
am Just doing the same as you- setting up a new 2.66 after retiring my G5!
It's a fantastic machine and so nicely designed inside
I am not experiencing any unwanted clicks- from the machine, my space bar is a bit nosier than the other keys -but hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it.
As for what to use the other drives for- i'd put any media you use on them- video, audio, photo libraries & sound loops etc. depend on what you use the computer for- keeping your system drive just for OS and Applications.
    I'm a happy camper too!

  • Connecting a 2nd Palette monitor to iMac

I have an iMac 24" 28Ghz (1Mac,8.1) and want to connect a second palette monitor to the mini DVI port, using a mini DVI to VGA connector.
A search of the forum shows issues with cursor jumping and wrong resolutions.
I really want to run my Adobe CS4 suite with the tabbed palettes on the second monitor to my right.
Is anyone doing this without issues?
    Peter

Well given the huge response, I figured I'd just go ahead and warn all the vendors that they could have their stuff back promptly if it didn't work as advertised.
I bought a dead cheap 2-for at OfficeWorks. 2 Philips 160EI TFT 40cm monitors, only A$186 for both. I also got an Apple mini-DVI to VGA adaptor which has dropped in price from Apple's previous rip-off rate to A$25.
Installation was quite straight forward although the monitor looks like a dwarf next to the 24" iMac.
I installed under OSX 10.5.8 and then switched to OSX 10.6.3. Under both it was recognised immediately but defaulted for some reason to a non-native resolution, easily fixed.
I didn't need to *color manage,* that's not what it's for, but both Apple's color calibration and the on monitor controls only screwed it up so I went back to the default settings just playing a little bit with the on monitor contrast and color to try and crisp up the Finder text which still seems too soft. Apple's color calibration lead it to be way too dark. The monitor controls way too light, so factory settings is where it stays.
Visually the monitor is a tad unsharp with a visible vertical banding a little like thin corrugation. Colors are pale, about max 70-80% tint to my eye.
I was able to set separate screen backgrounds, so that I could have a pleasing black & white background to my palettes.
I tested several applications running simultaneously along with movies on both monitors. All work flawlessly so far.
I can now run tutorial DVDs on the 2nd monitor whilst keeping the application to which it refers open on the main monitor. Nice!!
*Testing palettes with Adobe CS4:* They cleverly snap to whichever of the 2nd monitors edges they are dragged to and work perfectly even sensing the real estate available on the monitor. I have set them to snap to the inside (left edge of the 2nd monitor, which is to my right). This means that for the first time the optional sub-palettes pop out to the right in reading order.
All remember their position between re-startups. No sign of flickering or any of the problems reported in the forums. That is in both Leopard and Snow Leopard.
Flicking between fullscreen view using the tab keyboard shortcut and the toolbar options has different results. Sometimes the palettes stay with the main screen in full screen view, sometimes they disappear, I'm trying to work out what combination of actions sets off what.
*Testing palettes with iWork:* They have none of Adobe's smarts but can be stacked a little awkwardly to fit. Awkward because Apple hasn't worked out how to sensibly do this and made them different sizes. However they do remember their sizes (sort of) and positions between restarts.
Pages' Outline/Fullscreen view unfortunately blacks out both monitors. I was hoping I could keep my palettes visible on the 2nd.
Overall I am very happy. I worked with 2 monitors for almost 2 decades until Apple made it both expensive and extremely awkward on several occasions. It feels very liberating to have my full workspace clear again.
OSX is one clumsy design for handling windows, despite/because of all Apple's efforts.
There is no substitute for more/separate screen real estate. So far I am one happy camper.

  • How do I enable CHM-embedded SWF Files in Windows 7 64 bits?

    Hi,
I have a Robohelp project with several important tutorials in the Flash SWF format, all of which were added to the project without issue. I have kept these in the CHM output for close to 2 years without issue. Then our company began to switch from XP (32 bits)  to Windows 7 (64 bits), and users who had made the OS switch could no longer view the SWF tutorials.
Any ideas as to how I can keep these SWF-format tutorials functional in a CHM on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Hi again Rob
One other thing. Here is my own workaround for operating CHM files successfully on Windows 7. What I've done is to install Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. (My PC shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium)
Then I downloaded (free of charge) the Microsoft Virtual Machine with XP mode. I then run the CHM from inside the VM in a 32 bit XP environment.
I do believe that it's possible to run a 32 bit version of HH.EXE to display the CHM file and have things work fine in the 64 bit environment. I say this because I've found that if I allow RoboHelp to launch the CHM, I see Captivate movies working in those. But run it on its own and BOOM!
I'd be one happy camper if I could sort the command line to launch the help viewer in 32 bit mode as RoboHelp seems to be doing!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Has anyone used Aperture 2.0 with 8800GT?

Has anyone used Aperture 2.0 with the new 8800GT? I'm about to order a new Mac Pro and wonder if Aperture will get a speed boost with the 8800GT over the HD 2600XT. I've read many times that Aperture is very GPU dependent, but then I've also read, on Barefeats.com for example, that the graphics card really doesn't do that much of a difference after all.
For me, on my dual 2.0 G5 with 4.5GB and a X800XT, what's been most annoying with Aperture 1.5 has been the slow load times for raw images (15-20MB). But now with the quick preview mode in Aperture 2.0, that really isn't an issue any more.
Is the 8800GT worth waiting for, or should I just get the Mac Pro now with the HD 2600XT?

    Hi Don
I'm using Aperture 2.0 with the 8800GT. My system is the new MacPro 8 core 2.8GH with 10GB RAM. I'm shooting Nikon D3 lossless compressed RAW files. Approximately 12-14MB each.
I do not need to use the quick preview mode. Images open instantaneously, either fit to screen or 100%. All the image adjustments are shown with no time lag. My D2X uncompressed raw files,19MB, display in approximately one second with quick preview turned off.
I'm no MAC hardware expert so I don't know how much the speed is the result of the 8800GT but I'm just one happy camper.
    Hope this helps

  • Dependencies (Install Bundle) not working as desirable

We have several icons in the NAL which all as dependency bundle have "Firefox install".
I already placed the bundle install under the launch-tab of the parent bundle, and put a "registry key exist" requirement-setting, which checks if the uninstall key of Firefox is present, and is set to "no", to not run the install every time the parent icon is being clicked.
However, if I remove the registry key manually, and click the icon where the install bundle is assigned, the install bundle is not being installed.
I'd like to have just one Firefox install-bundle, so I only have to update the one bundle, and I don't have to update several bundles.
We (still do) use Zenworks 7, and here we do use this feature, and it works flawlessly.
Is there a way to do this without too much of a hassle?

Yes, the initial post was not fully correctly stated.
I indeed have a "Firefox Install Bundle" with some actions under the launch-tab, but also one action under install which deletes the registry key belonging to Firefox Uninstall.
If the user chooses to verify the (second/)parent icon, the registry key will be deleted, and Firefox will be re-installed, because of the requirement-setting on the Firefox setup action.
I am one happy camper now!

  • PDF To Video for Training

    Ok... I know silly question.
I have a multi-page pdf that I need to creat a movie of by basically having the ability to have a page up and lay an audio track of instruction under it.
I am not sure if imovie is my best tool, but I don't see a quick way of getting the pdf into imovie.
    Any suggestions?
    Hep2djive

    Craig,
The only place that you are likely to not have thumbnails is Windows Explorer. Going back some OS's, there was the psicon.dll, that did read the preview of a PSD. Do not recall the exact chronology, but psicon.dll was removed. For a few versions, people basically passed it around to get thumbnails back. Then, and maybe it was Vista (?), that the old psicon.dll ceased to work.
In all Adobe browsers, you will have the thumbs, as well as in PrPro. Most image cataloging programs, like ThumbsPlus, will have no issues IIRC, IrfanView even displays the previews for PSD's. It is only in Windows Explorer, with Thumbnail View turned on, where you will get the PS icon.
I'll be one happy camper, if I can get you to use Photoshop... Nah, here it is the best tool for the job. AI can open the PDF's, but you'd still want to Rasterize them, and PS would be the ticket for the best results, so it's just easier to start and end there.
Now, unless you have some individual operations to perform, I'd just write an Action to Open the PDF's, then Save_As .PSD's. You can still add some "stuff," like sizing, etc.. When done with your Action, just go to File>Automate (syntax might have changed in CS4), then set your Source Folder to the location of the PDF's, your Destination Folder to suit, any file name changes, and make sure that your Action is chosen for the operation. You can by-pass the Open command, if you do not need to see this operation being done, and can also set your Edit Preferences>Save to the exact method of handling Backward Compatibility, so you will have zero dialog screens to deal with. Go get a cup of coffee, and the PSD's will be waiting for you to Import.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • No Picture Previews in Lightroom 3?

Hi there I have just installed Lightroom 3 - on PC laptop - and imported some images from the Picture Folder on the OS drive
Everything seems to be fine except (and its a major except) there are absolutely no thumbnails or previews of these pictures appearing in Lightroom to work on. I have tried this with a few different file formats - can anyone help? Thanks very much. Steve Mepsted

Using:  LR3 (just upgraded) Had the grey boxes but now IT WORKS and Thanks a million eveyone (a very special thanks to Steve for the detail instructions - my default was also the sRGB Virtual Device model profile )...I have been fighting with this issue for a couple of months.  In fact it was the original reason I did not download any additional updates to the LR2 version I had and reverted to the original verison as purchased.  I thought going to LR3 would solve the problem.  When I first upgraded to LR3 I could see all my pictures....but then I downloaded an udpate and my pictures were not viewable (only the grey boxes as others have referred to).  I was not willing to go back to LR2 having just bought LR3 so I called Adobe Tech support.  The Adobe tech that took control of my computer (a very friendly young fellow) was apparently headed in the right direction but he never solved the problem.  I watched what he was doing (via remote control) on my screen and recall that at one point he was doing something with color profiles.  I don't fully understand color profiles so I could not keep up with what he was doing. After about 90 minutes he told me it was a Microsoft problem...I told him that did not make sense since I had already seen the pictures in Lightroom after I first upgraded and it was only after getting the udpate that the pictures were no longer available.  I thanked him and went back to looking at grey boxes. After diddling with it and doing someting (I have no idea what!) I was able to view the pictures a couple of times but after each startup the grey boxes were back.  It has been very frsutrating until now.  Based on the great input from you guys I am assuming that somehow my computer was jumping between color profiles which is why I was able to see the pictures on some startups but not on others.  What I have to focus on now is why the color profile was shifting since I never went into that areas (would not have known what to do).  So...while my issue is resolved for now...I may still have a problem (shifting color profile) but at least I know where to focus.  By the way...I am not knocking Adobe or the Tech who tried to help me through remote control of my computer - - -somehow although he was onto the right solution it was not working. At any rate...I am one happy camper right now since I can now access my son's engagement pictures through LR.  Thanks again.  BTW...to Steve...on my machince there is a save screen that comes up when I "Click on ADD".  I just closed it and then was able to click the Device tab.
