hi all
can any one tell me about external table authentication
In we want to maintaining all the user information in back end tables
so here my doubt is that
again we have to create same user names ,passwords and groups in RPD ??????
bez i have created session variable to get the user name and password when i am trying to login with user name and password it is not allowing me to enter
so where is the problem
pls let me know functionality of external table authentication

Hi,
Follow below steps....
1)Create a table with columns-USERID,PASSWORD,GROUP
2)Create a DSN for DB and import this table into rpd,we need connectionpool in orcer to validate.
3)Create system session variables in rpd.Manage->variables->Session->variables(click on this)(Right click on right pane and create three variables USER,PASSWORD,GROUP)
4)Now click on initializaton block under session.Right click on right pane and create new initilailzation block.
5)Give Name as USER_AUTH.We can see two sections below this Datasource and Variable Target.
6)Click on Edit Data Source.Give the below Query and browse and select the connectionpool of your table.
SELECT USERID,PASSWORD,GROUP FROM your_table_name WHERE USERID=:'USER' AND PASSWORD=:'PASSWORD'
7)Click on Edit Target Variables and Select variables created and place them in same order as you retrive from query.(USER,PASSWORD,GROUP)
8)Now create the GROUPS that you placed in tables in rpd.Manage->Security->Groups(No need to create users in this)In your table itself USERS are assigned to GROUPS.
9)Login with admin and create these GROUPS in Manage Presentation Catalog.
10)Apply security to dashboards based on your need.
11)Login with the users you placed in DB.
