ONKYO TX-SR805 Set-up Menu HELP Needed
This is a LONG post, but I would appreciate if you would read it and respond to it. The settings That are setup might not be the CORRECT settings. If you think a different setting should be made, please let me know.
Also right now I only have 2 front speakers (NHT VT-1A), 1 middle( NHT VT-1C), and a NHT SW12 Subwoofer. I will be hooking up 2 or 4 more speakers for the REAR.
Here are the settings on my TX-SR805 receiver on the set-up menu. I could use some help to see if they need set to something else.

Unfortunately this is very difficult because the top half of your post, your really the only one that can answer what the setup should be. The adjustments are made based on the acoustics of your room and how everything sounds noone can really give you info on it because every house, and room has different acoustics. The walls, insulation, carpet or bare floors, basement or main floor are just some examples of what can make a difference in sound reproduction. By the way NHT (Now Hear This) are excellent speakers. For bass and treble, the music I listen too requires a high treble content so I usually have it at 7 out of 10 but my bass is at 4 out of 10. The sub base should be fine where it is.
Did your receiver come with an Audessy mic for calibration. I would use that for a basic setup and go from there I am not sure if on your unit it will do frequecy but I think it did.
Your volume settings look fine again personal preference there is right or wrong.
For you listening mode Preset you should have an auto setting I am at work so it may take a coule of hours for me to get back to you as I have to go through your manual and see what you would set it up with so please bare with me. I will list the info as I read it so it may not be in the order you have it.
I will have to make a second post since I can't go back and edit this one.

Hi, on my site at the checkout page, it has 2 drop down menus, one for country and one for state. right now as it is, if you select United States from the first menu, you are then able to select which state you are from. But if any other country is selected, the Select State drop down menu dissappears. The coding looks like this right now

What i want to do is make it so that if you select canada the drop down menu stays visable, and i've added the provinces into the list. I tried adding 'CA' along with the 'US' but that makes it stay visible for all countries, i only want it visible for the 2. it seems easy but i really dont know action script very well at all. Thanks a lot for any helpI just had another question about the same thing. Is it possible that when CA is selected, that a different data provider for the "Select State" list would come up? For example, if US were selected it would load "_selectState.dataProvider = PayPalStateUSList.instance.option;" but if CA were selected, i could have it load the same thing but with just provinces? i tried to just copy the coding for PayPalStateUSList and rename it PayPalStateCAList with the list changed to provinces, and have it load it in the as but i dont really know what im doing.
right now i just have the states and provinces all in one list, but its just harder to select when everything is all mixed in. it looks a bit unorganized.
another thing i would like to do, is change the total price based on the country selected in the drop down menu, if its possible. right now I have a shipping charge being added to the total from the shopping cart screen (thanks to kglad), but what would make more sence would to have the shipping based on wether its domestic or international. would it be possible to change the total based on the country selected?

I exported a FCP file with 5 chapter markers into Studio Pro and used a menu template with 10 marker buttons. Naturally only the five markers I included showed up. Now I had to add two more chapter markers within Studio Pro but they don't show up in the menu. How can I made the late addition markers show?

It's just that I have to get this finished DVD out by Monday, and I'm used to having a seamless export into Studio Pro's templates and a good quick burn. I've been doing these same steps mechanically for three years and I guess my tutorial memory is foggy. As you suggest, I will go back and do the tutorial again and stop posting stupid questions. But this odd situation was dumped on my by a client on Friday and for now I have one more question...
When I put in the DVD it shows the menu. All the chapter links work (thanks to the help on this forum). If I click back to Root Menu, Chapter 1 begins playing again instead of showing the startup menu, which it does show upon clicking Title Menu.
I need to have the Root Menu button go back to the template. What am I doing wrong??

AppleScript for setting Permissions Automatically -help needed

I am trying to create an applescript that can run automatically each time a user signs into a Mac set up for multiple (non admin) users that will take a folder on the drive and set permissions for all sub folders and files to read/write for everybody. I want the script to essentially do the equivalent of checking to "apply to enclosing items" checkbox.
I know very little about applescript and have not found a good tutorial online yet. Does anybody already have a script that will do this or know how to create one and set it up so that it will run automatically each time a user signs in? I think that I can probably add whatever script is created to the login items for the user to do that. But, don't I also have the problem of the script needed admin rights to reset permissions?
Any help would be appreciated.What exactly are you wanting to do? There are shared folders that already exist (public and private), and Access Control List entries can be set to allow for custom access. Is this for a temporary directory or something like that that gets created when a user logs in?

IPhone audiobook menu help needed!
For anyone who doesn't know what Audible.com is audiobook site with iPod, iTunes friendly audio books for much cheaoer than the iTunes Store options, its a great option for those who like audiobooks but dont want to pay a fortune for them
Anyway, back to my problem, well more of an annoyance. :mad:
So, if I have audible books on my iPod they show up in a category separate from all of the other audiobooks, I want them to all show up together.
Please don't respond with, "what does it matter?" Because it doesn't that much but any help would be appreciated. dosen

The Start Playing Where Left Off is only for Video. So, If you want to be able to resume your audible content it looks like you may need to leave them be.
You can however make them available right from the top menu of iPod on your iPhone!
From the main iPod menu, select More, then Edit from the upper left. Drag the Audiobooks icon down over a button that you don't often use... say Video. The icon you are dragging over will glow and once you let go, it will be replaced with the one you are dragging. You audiobooks might not be listed with all of your music, but you can go straight to them on you iPhone! -

Help needed in setting up Japanese Database

Help needed in setting up Japanese Database.
I created database with UTF8 character set on Sun Solaris O/S.
Oracle version 8.1.7.
I am accessing the DB through SQL*Plus (Windows client).
I downloaded the Japanese font on client side and also set the NLS_LANG environment variable to Japanese_Japan.UTF8. Still, I am not able to view Japanese characters. O/S on client side is Windows 2000 professional (English). Is O/S (client) need to be Japanese O/S? When I try to retrieve sysdate, its displaying in Japanese but not all characters in Japanese. Can anyone help me out how to set up the client and is there any parameters to be setup at server side? I also tried to insert japanese characters into table through client, but it displaying as "?????" characters. Any help in this regard is appreciated.

only after a socket has connected wil the program continue.
try putting the accept() in its own little thread and let it wait there while your program continues in another thread -

I don't know if this is a Firefox problem so I ask, When printing how come it always prints so small I nearly need a magnifying glass? Is this caused by something else I may have set incorrectly? help please, from a very satisfied Firefox user
This only happens when I'm in my browser. Ex. when I'm on a site and I decide I like what I see and want to print it text that is, my printer always prints tiny. When I'm in Microsoft Word for ex. I print it and it looks like what I expect. So I don't know if somehow my printer got set to print tiny when on the web. If you can help me I would be most appreciative. 4 color process on tee shirts help needed
This is my first attempt (we just added a tee shirt division) at 4 cp screen printing on tee's. Image came as RGB and converted to CMYK in Photoshop. Using default SWOP web coated v2. Image is WAY too dark and we can not adjust to an acceptable result by adjusting the inks. Should I be using an uncoated profile or make my own (need help to that!). Any help will be greatly appreciated!
ChrisSince screen printing lays down a lot of ink meaning there is a lot of gain on press you'll have to do some experimenting using an assign profile procedure that might get you a CMYK profile that gets you in the ballpark. Or at least it will allow you in coming up with your own custom profile within Photoshop's Color Setting CMYK menu that delivers numbers that clearly show that dot gain is being compensated for on your press.
You'll use the dark print and the numbers within the file to act as a reference. Scour the web and download as many CMYK profiles you can find that are associated with presses with high gain like newspapers and even screen printing. Who knows maybe by now someone has already gone through the same thing and came up with one that works. The numbers when converting to the newly found high gain profile will be smaller compared to the Web Offset reference file for instance 50% dot will read something like 30-20%, 80% will read 60% and so on.
Once you've collected enough CMYK profiles start assigning them temporarily for preview purpose to the original CMYK that produced the dark print. The one that makes the image the darkest is the one that will get you in the ballpark. Notice the degree by which it goes dark and pick a profile that produces the same degree of darkness that showed on your press.
Noting the degree of change during this assign procedure will also aid in coming up with a custom CMYK profile in Photoshop you can later assign to the reference file in making it look just like the dark reference print.
It's not very precise but the only alternative is to have a custom profile made using a spectrophotometer which can get expensive. You might look into ColorMunki which uses a spectro and is around $500. Not sure if it can produce CMYK profiles though. -
Help needed with header and upload onto business catalyst
Can someone help with a problem over a header please?
I have inserted a rectangle with a jpeg image in background, in the 'header' section, underneath the menu. It comes up fine on most pages when previsualised, going right to the side of the screen, but stops just before the edge on certain pages. I have double checked that I have placed it in the right place in relation to the guides on the page.
That's one problem.
The second problem is that I tried to upload onto business catalyst, which got to 60% and refused to go any further, saying it couldn't find the header picture, giving the title and then u4833-3.fr.png. The picture is in the right folder I have double checked. And it isn't a png. Does it have to be ?
And the third problem is that I got an email following my upload from business catalyst in Swedish. I am living in France.

How can I check the preview in other browsers before I publish a provisional site with BC?
The rectangle width issue happens on certain pages but not others. The Welecom page is fine when the menu is active, also the contact page, but others are slightly too narrow. Changing the menu spacing doesn’t help - I was already on uniform but tried changing to regular and back.
In design mode the rectangle is set to the edge of the browser, that’s 100%browser width right?
Re BC I have about 200 images on 24 different pages and it seems to be having difficulty uploading some of them. But it has managed a couple I named with spaces but not others I named with just one name.
Is there an issue on size of pictures ? If I need to replace is there a quick way to rename and relink or do I have to insert the photos all over again?
I’m a novice with Muse with an ambitious site !

- Have you checked the preview in Muse and also in other browsers ?
- Does the rectangle width issue happens when menu is active , or in any specific state , Try to change the menu with uniform spacing and then check.
- In design view the rectangle is set to 100% browser width ?
With publishing :
- Please try to rename the image file and then relink
- If it happens with other images as well , see if all the image names includes strange characters or spaces.
- Try again to publish
With e-mail from BC :
- Under preferences , please check the country selected.
- If you have previously created partner account in BC and selected country and language then it would follow that, please check that.

Help Needed - Even after lodging "Presidential Complaint"
Help needed please!!To make a long story short I have been through nothing but aggravation the past week trying to get my phone working. Service call on 7/6 to install Fios Internet, TV and phone. Internet and TV work fine, but Phone has no dial tone, going on a week and a half now. Tried contacting the account rep who set up my account, her supervisor as well as tech support on numerous occassions.
They set a dispatch for yesterday, and when the tech called me to say he was here, he was at an address i moved out of 4 years ago, in another state.I get a call from someone saying the service request was being closed and I need to call in with the correct address, after telling that rep I would not do that, that Verizon should make the updates based on my TV/Internet records, she hung up on me. Called back into Tech Support and the best they could do was an appointment for tomorrow. I then called the Corporate number and spoke with someone who opened a "Presidential Complaint" and requested an expedited call.. well i have heard nothing since then other than an automated call earlier today sayin my original service request will be kept. Needless to say I'm very upset that after a week and a half I still have no phone service and it doesn't seem like anyone is real willing to help me. I'm sure I'll get billed in full even though one of the 3 services I'm paying for hasn't been working in a week and a half..Hi jkoen77,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal. -
Help Needed!2 Soundtracks (ala Director's Commentary)
I fear I have made a simple process too complicated and hope someone out there can help me see the light.
I have a movie with a musical background and would like to give viewers an option for a video commentary.
In Final Cut, for now, I have my musical sound track, then did a Voice Over and duplicated the sound track so I could adjust the volume in one and then manually in FC turn on/off either the main sound track or the combination of the VO and modified ST. So in a backdoor method I can play either soundtrack inside FC.
OK, (and some of you pros will laugh at this I am sure), using Compressor, I deleted the combination files keeping the main one and sent a movie to Studio Pro. The I reversed the process and sent another movie over (sans main track) and WALLA! I have it doing what I want it to. I have a button to play either version.
But I know that this isn't the right way to accomplish what I want as I can see in the Inspector-->Advanced I should merely be able to select a Track for a button.
So how do I get my movie and 2 separate soundtracks over to Studio Pro?

RichardTypically, you create the FCP track and export that as a single file ready to encode to MPEG. You can add a second audio to your FCP work by using two more audio streams in the time line. You should also be able to export the audio only from FCP as .aiff.
Once you have the original file encoded to MPEG2 you will find it split into a video stream and an audio stream. You can now bring all three elements in to DVDSP, assigning one audio stream to A1 and the other to A2. If you want to encode the audio files to AC3 before importing you can do this as well - it saves space on the disc for one thing and also reduces the bitrate for the disc.
Once in DVDSP and set into the track, you can now use the remote control to switch audio streams (when simulating), or create a set up menu where the user selects the stream they want to hear - you don't need two copies of the video. You can have up to 8 audio streams in your DVD.
