Open PDF file into flex mobile app

Hy,
I use this method to open a web page into my flex mobile application and I want to now if is possible to make the same for an PDF file.
<s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" title="Test">   <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import flash.net.URLRequest; import flash.net.navigateToURL; import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.media.StageWebView; import flash.geom.Rectangle; import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; import flash.ui.Keyboard; import flash.desktop.NativeApplication; import mx.events.FlexEvent; private var browser:StageWebView;
protected function onButtonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void { browser = new StageWebView(); browser.viewPort = new Rectangle(0, 0, 100, 200); browser.stage = this.stage; browser.loadURL("http://adobe.com"); }  ]]> </fx:Script> <s:Button x="209" y="67" label="test" click="onButtonClicked(event)" /></s:View>

Rangrajan,
If you have the complete URL to the file; for example http://forums.adobe.com/filename.pdf
or C:\users\yourname\filename.pdf
Although I have not used it, you can pass the URL to Drumbeat Insight iFrame
You can try their product, get prices for source code or library here: http://drumbeatinsight.com/products
They offer email support for their products.
You can make your own iFrame, with several sources.  Here is some background.
http://www.ozzu.com/flash-forum/targeting-iframe-from-flash-t30013.html
Let me know if this solves your file issue.
I need to write a server-side app to listen to my web service, upload the PDF, then write a temporary file.pdf to the server,
before my web app can load the PDF into a web hosted iFrame.
Adobe needs to make this easy (and I even know some developers in the San Jose Adobe headquarters).

  • Open a file into a java app - HOW DO YOU DO IT!!

    I have written an html/php editor - I want to set it up so that when you double click on a php file in windows it will open the file into my java ide.
    I know this can be done - but how!!! There does not seem to be any info on the web about it - can anyone give me some pointers.
    Thanks

    Yeah - but the problem is: You can only set files to
    open with a .exe file - if you go to the settings and
    set the .php file to "open with" you have to select a
    .exe file e.g. notepad.exe
    However you can't create .exe files in java!!!! So how
    do you do it?You have to spend $$$'s
    However many /most converters don't work without the relevant updated JVM (but they are *.exe, kind of)

  • Is it possible to Load External SWF files into Flex Mobile projects?

    Hi Guys,
    I'm trying to load an external asset in this cse (a SWF file) into my flex project (Apple IOS IPAD), don't get any luck. Can any one suggest a solution ?

    In Apple's words, "No interpreted code may be downloaded or used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple's Documented APIs and built-in interpreter(s)".
    Hence external swfs cannot be loaded in iOS.

  • How to configure to not open pdf files into Internet Explorer 10?

    I have disabled the adobe complements from Internet Explorer and the preferences of Adobe to don't show the pdf files in internet but it keep also doing it.
    How can configure the computer? I am using Internet Explorer 10, Adobe Acrobat 8.1 and Adobe Reader XI
    Thanks for your help

    Hi BG-Zic,
    Acrobat 8 and Reader 11 is not a recommended configuration to install on one machine.
    Please check the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-product-interoperability-install-remove.html
    For disabling the pdf view in Browser please refer the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html
    There's also a related registry entry :
    1.Click "Start," type "Regedit" into the Search box and press "Enter."
    2.Click "Yes" if a User Account Control prompt appears.
    3.Navigate to the ""HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[version]\Originals\" key in the left pane of the Registry Editor, where "[version]" is the currently installed version of Adobe Reader.
    4.Create the bBrowserIntegration value if it doesn't exist in the right pane by clicking "Edit," "New." Click "DWORD Value," type "bBrowserIntegration" and press "Enter."
    5.Double-click the bBrowserIntegration value in the right pane.
    6.Type "0" into the value data box and press "Enter."
    Hope this helps.

  • Embedding a .pbj file into a mobile app...

    So, one would think that the following statement would work:
    Embed[source="myPixelBender.pbj", mimeType="application/octet-stream"]
    private var MyPixelBender:Class
    private function myFunction():void{
         myShader:Shader = new Shader( new MyPixelBender() as ByteArray)
         myShader.data.blah.blah.blah = blah;
    HOWEVER, when I export this program to a mobile device, it fails on the "blah.blah.blah" line with a "#1010: A term is undefined and has no properties." error...  When I run it on the desktop emulator, it works fine...
    So clearly, something's different between the "run on the desktop" and "run on the device" settings...  Why is that file being left out when I run it on the mobile device itself?
    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    It appears that it is impossible, unfortunately...  I never could find anyone who could tell me for certain, but it certainly appears to be impossible...
    Adobe is abandoning Flex and Flash For Mobiles anyway, so I finally gave up on this project entirely...  I'm really not happy that Adobe chose to do this, but I suppose the writing has been on the wall ever since Steve Jobs wouldn't allow Flash Player on any iOS devices...

  • IPad Mini - Unable to open mobi files into another app...

    Just got an iPad mini and it appears that I can't open mobi files on my Kindle app. I also have an iPad3 and I have no problems opening mobi files on my Kindle app on it.
    Basically I put my mobi e-books on skydrive and when I want to put them in the Kindle app I just select to open the files in another app and I can select the Kindle app. I am unable to do this with my iPad mini.
    Both my iPad3 and Mini are running IOS 6.1.3. I did some google searches and found that this may be an issue with some iPads running 6.1.3. I installed a file manager app on my Mini and it appears that it sees the mobi files as rar format files so it does not give me the option to open them with the Kindle app.
    Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue? I was planning on using my Mini as my primary e-book reader and I was hoping to be able to do this without having to convert all my mobi files into mother format
    Any help resolving this issue will be much appreciated!

    After trying various different things and resetting my Mini to factory default several times I was able to figure out how to open the mobi files I have on Skydrive and Dropbox in my Kindle app.
    I had to delete both my Skydrive and Dropbox apps and do it through the web browser.  I was able to download the mobi file with Safari and open the file in the Kindle app.
    Firest I reset my Mini setup and installed only the Kindle, Skydrive and Dropbox apps.  I could not open a mobi file into the Kindle app with either The Skydrive or Dropbox app.  I even reset my Mini and installed the Kindle app with just Skydrive and then reset it again and tried with just Kindle and Dropbox installed I could not get it work.
    Finally, I reset again and installed only the Kindle app and used Skydrive through Safari and it worked just fine.  I tested it with Dropbox and Safari and it also worked.
    So basically, for whatever reason, my iPad Mini just can not open mobi files into the kindle app using either the Skydrive or Dropbox app.  However, my iPad3 running the same IOS and app versions can do it just fine.  Go figure...

  • Can I set up safari to automatically open PDF documents in the pages app?

    Can I set up safari to automatically open PDF documents from the internet into the pages app?

    No - and you can't open pdf files in the Pages app on the iPad anyway as far as I know. You can export a Pages file as a pdf but you can't open them in Pages.

  • How to open pdf files in browser using flex

    hi,
    my project is having a Document explorer wchich contains pdf
    files,iwant to open it in the browser.can any one tell me how to
    open pdf documents using flex programming(i tried with different
    thing like swf's but my client wants only pdf formatt).

    Another option is by calling a JSP page. This example will
    open a pdf file into a new browser without displaying the download
    "save" prompt.
    Function to call the JSP:
    private function downloadFlyer(event:Event):void {
    var jspLink:URLRequest = new
    URLRequest("jsp/downloadpdf.jsp?fileName=Fundraiser_flyer_2008.pdf");
    navigateToURL( jspLink, "_blank" );
    JSP code:
    <%@ page errorPage="error.jsp" %>
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
    //Get the parameters
    String downloadFileName=request.getParameter("fileName");
    String fileName = application.getRealPath("/downloads/" +
    downloadFileName);
    File file = new File(fileName);
    if (!file.exists()) {
    throw new IOException("File does not exist.");
    // Get the size of the file
    long length = file.length();
    // You cannot create an array using a long type.
    // It needs to be an int type.
    // Before converting to an int type, check
    // to ensure that file is not larger than Integer.MAX_VALUE.
    if (length > Integer.MAX_VALUE) {
    throw new IOException("File too big.");
    response.reset();
    response.resetBuffer();
    response.setContentType( "application/pdf" );
    response.setHeader ("Content-Disposition", "filename=" +
    downloadFileName);
    //Prevent the Java error: "getOutputStream() has already
    been called for this response"
    out.clear();
    out = pageContext.pushBody();
    InputStream in = new FileInputStream(file);
    OutputStream output = response.getOutputStream();
    try {
    int curByte=-1;
    while( (curByte=in.read()) !=-1){
    output.write(curByte);
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    ioe.printStackTrace(System.out);
    } finally{
    output.flush();
    in.close();
    response.flushBuffer();

  • Problem opening pdf file from an app built by Flash Builder 4.5

  • Mail app doesnt open pdf files (iPhone5 & ios 7.0.4)

    Hello,
    our CEO can´t open pdf files from email attachments on his iPhone 5 on ios 7.0.4.
    Normal behaviour:
    Usually the mail app opens the pdf from the email and you can scroll through the pages and everything is okay.
    Error description:
    But in our case when tipping on the pdf icon at the bottom of an email, the mail app just jumps to the top of the email and nothing else happens.
    After doing this two or three times,  the icon changes to a picture showing  the first page of the file. Tipping on the picture opens the known "save picture" menu.
    Solutions I tried:
    - Holding the thumb on the pdf icon does nothing.
    - After forwarding the email to another ios device (verified with iPhone and iPad) the pdf file can be viewed without problems.
    - Restart (holding top and home button)
    - I read in a community that the app "Stanza" can cause the problem. Check: It has never been installed on the device.
    Solutions I didn´t try:
    - Recovery from an iTunes backup. (As i read, this doesn´t solve the problem.)
    - Recovery without an iTunes backup. (As i read, this will solve the problem (-no surprise). But this is no valid solution for our CEO.)
    Question:
    Does anybody know the problem and a constructive solution? Thank you very much!
    Best regards
    Mr Flame

    Thanks for the answer.
    The error is occuring with every pdf file attached to an email.
    I know, you don´t need 3rd party software. That´s why I posted this as a problem to the community.
