OpenGL: Is it supported with MBA 2011? (E.g. Runescape.)

Runescape, a game with OpenGL graphics option fails to load properly on my MBA 2011.
(blacked out environment and graphics)
My guess is the Intel HD3000 doesn't support it properly. Any idea?

What you want is a custom data formatter. I would give you some links, but my iPad wants to convert them into the documentation viewer.
You aren't going to find much help with C++ debugging. While Apple's Clang has made great improvements in C++ support compared to GCC, C++ is really not something that Mac or iOS programmers typically use. The Cocoa containers and objects are so much more versatile. You kind of have to have a masochist streak and a 7 year development schedule to use C++. C++ is experiencing a bit of a resurgence, especially in defense markets. For a long time, compilers had such poor support for C++ that it just wasn't possible. After simplifying the language a little, compilers can now compile and link C++. Consultants have realized they can provide C++ services and burn though billable hours better than any other language on the market. Independent developer, however, don't have those schedules and budgets so they tend to use NSArray. Xcode supports it better in the debugg and, chances are, you don't need to debug it anyway. There are a number of matrix classes built on Cocoa.

  • OpenGL 3.3 support with OSX

When can we expect OpenGL 3.3 support?
    10.6.4 supports only opengl 2.1

You're better off doing your own research so you can avoid the canned politically correct type of non-help help. Still, 2,1 is pretty sad, that came out in 2008.
If your MBP has Nvidia 320M,
e GeForce GT 320M has support for DirectX version 10.1 and OpenGL version 2.1.
    http://nvidia-geforce-drivers.com/geforce-gt-320m.php
Besides, it takes time. Even OpenCL 1.1 APIs are too new and graphics seems to be suffering some kind of upheavel.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/cudaopenclnew.html
And, you would need a graphic card that supports 3.3. What next? DirectX11 support in Windows too? At least the Windows 7 driver has support, now, *Supports OpenGL 3.3* And Nvidia updates their Windows drivers more frequently.

  • Can I use MBA 2009 power cable on MBA 2011

I have a new MBA 2011 and i still have 2 power adaptors for my old MBA 2009.  Can I use the old adapters on my new MBA?

    Acording to Apple you shouldn't:
Note: Adapters that shipped with the MacBook Air (Original), MacBook Air (Late 2008), and MacBook Air (Mid 2009) are not recommended for use with MacBook Air (Late 2010) models. When possible, use your computer's original adapter or a newer adapter.

  • MBA 2011 keeps asking to restart

    Hi
My MBA 2011 keeps asking to restart. I have done this so many times and it keeps asking me at the log in page.
    Can anyone help?

If you're getting the restart screen that has several languages on it, that's a kernel panic. A kernel panic is usually, but not always, caused by a hardware issue, with memory the leading cause.  Since your MBA is a 2011 model, it's under warranty, so I'd take it to an Apple store for support.

  • Wiping SSD MBA (2011)

I have managed to Migrate data to new computer & drive. I wish to wipe the 256Gb SSD drive, reinstall Lion & upgrade to ML. I have a Lion thumbdrive, but I am unable to boot from the thumbdrive although it appears in Preferences/Startup Drive along with the internal SSD.
I tried putting the MBA into Target disk mode, but a MBA (2013) with ML does not see the disk, either on the desktop, as a device or using Disk Utility. Network reports the Thunderbolt connection as green.
I've paid for a copy of ML for a MBA (2011), but the installer shell never shows up on the desktop with an application that can be moved to a thumbdrive. I assume this is the "new, improved" Apple method of distributing software. Guess I can't wait for Mavericks!
Suggested methods to employ to achieve my goal could be??
    Thanks.

    Execute SMC and NVRAM resets:

  • LaCie Desktop Manager doesn't recognize LaCie RAID with my 2011 MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I have a new MacBook Pro 17" but I am not able to use the LaCie Desktop Manager with the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class RAID. The drive is recognized by the finder via eSATA, FireWire, USB, but is not recognized by the LaCie Desktop Manager. This prevents me from encrypting the drive. The LaCie Desktop Manager could recognize the raid with my early 2008 MacBook Pro.
I'd like to know if anyone else is having the same problem with their 2011 MacBook Pro.
I have been communicating with LaCie support but he tells me that he can't check the same or similar configuration as mine.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

Looks like the cable is the same if you still have the 2010.

  • Attach to email not working with Outlook 2011

I've created a pdf document for users to fill out and then click a SUBMIT button which attaches the document to an email and sends it back to me.  It works great with Windows users, however, it fails to create an email for Mac users with Outlook 2011.  It opens the program but doesn't create an email.  I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.5
Can someone please help in fixing this matter as there are people that use Macs.
    Thanks
    Matt

Yes the Acrobat PDFviewer Plug does nt work with anything but Safari on a Mac. In OS9 days it would work with any web Browser.
But Adobe has decided That they will only support Webkit Browsers and refuses to support despite pleading with Adobe by people using Ecko based browsers. This leave more people unable to use the adobe PDFviewer plugin, than can. A fellow from Germany called Schubert has come up with a PDF Browser Plugin that can use any Browser Webkit or Gecko except Internet Explorer. The one caveat is that you can't fill out forms. And he is banned from putting that feature in, by Adobe.

  • Eject key not working with MBA Superdrive

For MBA owners with MBA Superdrive, could you please let me know if the Eject key is working? I just bought a MBA Superdrive but the Eject key on the keyboard is not ejecting disc. When i press the Eject key, i don't see the gray Eject icon on the screen, unlike all other function keys (for example, volume control, keyboard backlight control and screen brightness control). I can ctrl-click (or right-click) on the disc and select "Eject" to eject disc. If i do a ctrl-Eject, i can get the "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now" window to show up so the Eject key does not appear to have any physical or electrical issue. I can also boot into Boot Camp (Windows 7) and the Eject key works perfectly.
I have installed and uninstalled Virtual Box and Parallels so i am not sure if my problem is related to that.
Apple's tech support recommendation is to do an archive install, which in theory will keep all my personal data but create a new Systems folder. But i would like to try something less drastic before going that route.

Thanks. I not only did an "archive install" of Snow Leopard, i also did a erase install. But the Eject key is still not working like it's supposed to. I think i am going to try clearing the PRAM next.

  • Samsung u28d590d with mid-2011 Radeon HD 6970M wont display

I have a new Samsung u28d590d monitor which is a 4k monitor. I fully understand my iMac cannot drive the full resloution, but I had hoped to use it as a matching 2560x1440 display for my iMac. However, using a mini-displayport to displayport cable, I'm not able to get the monitor to sync (display an image).
    About the iMac:
    Mid-2011
Radeon HD 6970M with 2048 MB
(Currently driving an old 24" Cinema display with no problems)
Processor  3.1 GHz Intel Core i5
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E19)
The u28d590d works fine with my Macbook Pro Retina - drives it at 2560x1440 with no artifacts...looks fantastic!
    What happens with the iMac:
The iMac recognizes the monitor - in Displays prefpane it thinks it's attached. I've tried mirroring and using it as a 2nd display. Both produce the same result: no picture at all. The monitor eventually goes to sleep.
Any thoughts? Shouldn't the iMac be able to drive an external monitor at 2560x1440?

    Hi SpaceBass,
We just picked up exactly the same Samsung monitor (u28d590d) for use with a 2011 iMac 27" i7.  Had done a bit of research regarding display port 1.2 etc, and was pretty much not holding any hope that it would work with this mac.  But having read some reports that 4K support was being improved with OS 10.9.3 (which has just been superseded by 10.9.4), I was hoping there was a slim chance it would work... But sadly, no dice. I get exactly the same situation as you - the monitor control panel "sees" the monitor is connected, but it just stays black and never works no matter what settings try.
I knew however that even if the display port option was not going to work (to get 4K display @ 60Hz), then we could always just use the HDMI input on the monitor instead.  This seems to work fine.. but.. I was expecting to get 4K res @30Hz this way, which I figured would be adequate.  But it looks like the best I can get this monitor to display in this configuration is just full HD 1920x1080.  Not sure why this is happening but that's the best I seem to be able to get out of it...
Does anyone have any idea of what I'm either missing here, or just what I'm not understanding?  In any case, the monitor is still usable to us as is, and we'll be using it later with up-to-date MBP retinas as well, so at that point there will be no reason why it wouldn't deliver 4K @ 60Hz via display port.  But I'd still love it if I could get the 2011 iMac to get 4K on this thing even if it's only at 30Hz...
    TIA for any pointers,
    Best,
    Tbirdparis

  • Su command won't work in MBA 2011 Lion 10.7.1

    Hi All,
I have an iMac, 3 MBPs running Lion and Snow Leopard. In all of them, su command works just fine and of course I had no issues with them for many years.
I just bought a MBA 2011 and it came with Lion 10.7 which I updated to 10.7.1. The su command just simply refuses to work. It display 'su: sorry' as if I typed the wrong password.
    1) I tried my own account password which is an administrator. Didn't work
    2) Enable root account and set the password. Didn't work (I checked in my all other machine, don't need to enable root as the 'enable root' is still avaialable where as if it has been enabled only 'disable root' option will be displayed
    3) Created another account (admin) also didn't work.
    What did I miss here?

    On the logs:
2:36:25 AM su: BAD SU (username) to root on /dev/ttys000
Just reformat my system and restore with fresh un-updated stock Lion, still the same issue.

  • Does OpenGl 3.2 support Intel HD 3000?

The title kind of says it all, I was just wondering if OpenGl 3.2 supports my integrated graphics intel HD 3000.  Also, is it something I download and run, or is it just something on the game?
    Thanks

In real life the GPU is supported by the far better CPU in the new machine, more than making up for any shortfall in benchmarked graphics performance.  If you really want good graphics, 15" is the way to go.
The previous generation 13" MBP and the current generation 13" MBP handle World of Warcraft & Starcraft II just fine. But you're going to be in low to medium graphic settings. I sit at around 24-32 FPS with those settings on both of the games (having tried it on both of those machines for extended periods of time).
So I agree with rbrian's remark, that while performance wise they're virtually identical the improvements in CPU horsepower of the i5 versus the C2D would be worth it.

    Maps
    Photo Booth
    Apple Script Editor
Color Sync Utility (did launch but after pressing the "Profiles" button, it crashed)
    Grapher
Also struggling with streaming sites like Netflix, extremely slow launch the video (No network issues, tried on different network).
The problem isnt percistant, occasionally the programs will launch and work.
I have tried re-installing OSX. I sent the machine to apple service, where they told me my hdd was defective. So i bought a new SSD harddrive and installed Mavericks and i still have the same problem.
Does it sound like a hardware or a software problem?
