Opening new firefox like a popup

Hello,
I am developing a intranet for my company and I need a firefox shortcut on desktop that opens with no-tabs, no-url bar, no-favourites, just the given URL. like a popup.
Is there any command-line options, or other solution to this? I tried: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode -new-window "http://localhost" on shortcut but I want to disable tabs, firefox button, url-bar, favourites etc.

Hi,
You can try to get a similar functionality with [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/r-kiosk/?src=search Real Kiosk.]. Please also go through the ratings, reviews and FAQs. There could also be many similar add-ons.

  • Right click to open new firefox window opens in wrong workspace

    Right click in Mac Dock to open new firefox window opens in wrong workspace.
    When a user is in another workspace than the Firefox window, right clicking the Firefox icon in the dock and pressing New Window, should create a new window in the current workspace, Not the work space firefox is already running in.

    To be absolutely honest, I can't ever remember a time where this worked in Firefox. I don't think the issue is related to the issue you mentioned, unless this particular issue only occurs if you have a dual-monitor-setup (I do have dual-monitors).
    Firefox currently behaves differently to all native Mac apps + most Mac apps that support multiple windows.

  • Window.open opens new Firefox page, not a windows exploer window

    I have a javascript code within Dynamics CRM to open a windows explorer window if a field is double clicked with the folder location in that field. For example, if our local server name was COMPANYSERVER
    If the field contained \\COMPANYSERVER\Accounts and you double click it, that windows explorer window shows the Accounts folder in the COMPANYSERVER, and I can navigate to any child directories.
    If we use CRM in Internet Explorer, this works fine. However if CRM has been opened in Firefox, instead of opening a windows explorer field, it opens a new tab in Firefox, with a File or directory not found error, obviously because it is trying to find a webpage rather than an internal directory.
    I was not sure whether to log this on a Dynamics forum or Firefox forum, so I have done both, but as I say, it works perfectly with IE so I guess it's something I need to do differently for firefox, or change a setting somewhere within firefox?
    I am very new to firefox, so if you can be quite basic with your answers I would really appreciate it!

    I personally have not done this before, however there are two old sources that have both referenced the IE Tab extension.

  • Firefox will not perform correctly when I open new Firefox windows

    The only Firefox windows that work correctly are the first window I open (which has tabs saved) and the window that opens when I go into tools> options> help, any other new Firefox window I open wont let me open a new tab or window from the page I am on (I can still open new tabs with the bookmarks or new tab button), I can't use the back page/forward page/refresh page/stop loading page buttons and the page I am on doesn't show in the address bar.

    go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
    Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
    -> Update Firefox to the latest version by going to Help Menu -> About Firefox -> click Check for Updates -> if an updated version is found then download the latest version and install it. After that follow these steps:
    -> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    -> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset"
    -> go to View Menu -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
    -> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select Menu Bar and Navigation ToolBar -> unselect all unwanted toolbars
    -> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> ''Time range to clear: '''select EVERYTHING''''' -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on ALL Options -> click "Clear Now"
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> ''When Firefox starts : '''select "Show My Home Page"''''' -> Type the address of the website which you want to be your HomePage e.g. http:www.google.com -> place Checkmark on "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" -> select Radio Button option2 "Always ask me where to save files"
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Block Pop-up windows
    2) Load images automatically
    3) Enable JavaScript
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> ''Firefox will: '''select "Use custom settings for history"''''' -> PLACE CHECKMARKS on:
    1) Remember my Browsing History
    2) Remember Download History
    3) Remember Search History
    4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window
    4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"
    -> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons
    2) Block reported attack sites
    3) Block reported web forgeries
    -> Click OK on Options window
    -> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
    You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • After downloading Maverick, suddenly I'm having problems with new windows (like with Blackboard) closing automatically. Anyone else?

    A few weeks after downloading Maverick, I noticed that some attempts to use software that opens new windows (like Blackboard) are now failing as soon as that window opens. Is this a glitch with Maverick?

    Yes! Been living in a hellish nightmare since Sept-Oct. Unlike you, however, Apple has been of no help. They say the iPad is unhackable, plist and crash reports are none of my business and who understands them anyway, their route tracing apps are probably not reliable. The best they could do was wipe the iPad clean. Lost photos they said would be in the cloud....
    Almost immediately was back in somebody's VPN, their remote controller, video, audio, working. Got the purple buddy for the first time today. I have been invaded, my iPad no longer feels like my own, I have lost thanksgiving, Christmas, new year trying to track down the invaders, signed up for a Cisco course, set/reset passwords.
    I don't know who else to contact... Or what next to do.
    I've read similar frustration in other posts, scattered around the support communities. Yours is the only one that has worked toward a solution.
    How did you get anyone at apple to look at your logs and acknowledge there is a problem?
    Would be happy for a suggestion on how to proceed. Already been the apple store genius and tech on phone route.

  • Under options/tabs: open new windows in a new tab instead does not work. many sites open their popups or new windows NOT in a tab as it should. How to solve this, has been a problem in the last versions incl. the latest.

    i would like the option ´open new window in new tab instead´ working properly so no new windows will be opened except when I command them to..
    as said, many websites have popups (most are blocked, still some come through) who open in a new window.

    Type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button.
    * Preferences that have been modified are shown as '''bold (user set)'''.
    * Preferences can be '''Reset to the default''' or changed via the right-click context menu.
    -> In the '''Filter bar''' type '''browser.link.open_newwindow'''
    * Right click the preference '''browser.link.open_newwindow''' and click '''Modify'''
    * change the value to '''3'''
    * click OK
    -> In the '''Filter bar''' type '''browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction'''
    * Right click the preference '''browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction''' and click '''Modify'''
    * change the value to '''0''' (zero)
    * click OK
    -> Close the '''about:config''' tab and then Restart Firefox.
    Check and tell if its working.

  • Installed Microsoft updates yesterday & today I click on Firefox and it does not load. If I go to download a new Firefox, it tells me to close existing Firefox before the download. I can't see Firefox open anywhere.

    Firefox will not load and I cannot download a new Firefox because it says I have to close the existing one. I cannot find the existing one open anywhere. Also, when I went to download I got a warning that the new Firefox might damage my computer.

    The procedures in the [[Firefox will not start]] article may help, in particular it sounds like this error [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]

  • Is there a way to 'Force all Links to be opened in New Tabs ' like Maxthon browser?

    Is there a way to get Firefox to 'Force all Links to be opened in New Tabs, like Maxthon browser does ? I really like this Maxthon feature but hate Maxthon as it has always has and continues to lock up all the time (what a pain!!)
    Hoping Firefox can do this. By the way I know if you right click a link and ask for it to open in a new tab it will. I want it to be automatic.
    Thank you

    Question already asked and answered.
    I gave an AppleScript and an other helper described a scheme relying upon standard features.

  • 'Open New Windows In A New Tab' is not working when the popup is invoked by Flash

    I surf a lot of porn sites. And some of them invoke a popup if you click the play button of their Flash player. Even though I have FF set to 'Open New Window In A New Tab', this isn't working if a window is invoked by a Flash object. For example, if I want to watch porn clip on tnaflix<i></i>.com and click the Play button, then a popup window of livejasmin<i></i>.com comes up. But it doesn't open in a new tab. It opens in a new window, even though I've set the above mentioned option. This is very annoying. Please, fix it.

    Thanks for the responses and sorry for taking a while to get back. I have been looking around but not sure where is the "about: config page." When I click on Firefox "about" there is nothing to configure. What do I click on? TIA

  • Link in emails to open the link in new tab, not a new firefox window with home page,

    Link in emails open a new Firefox window with my default home page. How do I get Firefox to open the linked web page, in an new tab, as it used to do??
    This is for Win XP, FF 17.0.1, using Outlook as mail client.

    Do you mean the results from a search via the Google search bar on the Navigation toolbar or the Firefox Google home page (www.google.com/firefox) ?
    For the Google website you can set your preferences on the Google.com page via the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] link at the top right.
    Results Window: Open search results in a new browser window.
    You need to allow cookies for Google (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to save that setting, otherwise you have to repeat it.
    For the Google search bar on the Navigation toolbar you can set the pref browser.search.openintab to true on the about:config page.
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Firefox 4.0 inconsistantley opens new tabs, options are set to always open in a new tab.

    Hi, I am new to firefox. I have it set up in a way I like I just have one issue. In the options I have Firefox set to open in a new tab, but most of the time I have to press the crtl key then click a link and it will open in a new tab. Most of the time if I do not press the crtl key the link launches from the same window. Is this just a Firefox bug?

    I assume you are talking about the preference - '''Open new windows in a tab instead'''.
    When a webpage is programmed to open a hyperlink in a new window that pref will divert it to a new tab instead. It doesn't affect hyperlinks that are intended to open in the same window; there's no pref for that. If you want every hyperlink to open in a new tab, you need to {Ctrl + Click} or Middle-Click ''(click on the mouse scroll wheel)'' - or look for an extension that adds that preference to Firefox.

  • How do I set Firefox to open new windows in my second monitor?

    When opening a new window (by right clicking a link and selecting Open in New Window), I would like the window to be opened in my second monitor. Firefox used to do this, but randomly stopped. Now when I open a new window it is opened in my primary monitor. It does not open maximized (just short of being completely maximized). I have tried the fix I used before- moving the un-maximized browser to the second window, closing and re-opening the window. I have also tried moving the un-maximized browser, maximizing, closing and re-opening. Does anyone know how I can restore Firefox to open my new window in the second monitor?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Randomly

    Click the orange Firefox button, and click "Options". This will bring up a new window with a "Tabs" tab at the top. Click that. There will be several checked boxes, including one called "Open new windows in a new tab instead" up at the top of the list. Uncheck that box and you should be good to go.
    ETA: This should also work if you click "Tools" and "Options" within your version.
