OPMN timeout killing Configuration Assistants
Hello,
I am just trying to install a basic 10g AS (9.0.4) J2EE installation without Web Cache or OID/SSO.
I have configured the Red Hat 2.1 according to the Install Guide, I have all the patches, memory, and /etc/hosts setup.
Everything runs fine until I get to the Configuration Assistant section.
The Java Security Configuration Assistant Fails and subsequent attempts to re-run it also fails.
Although I see opmn processes running in the background, my initial suspicion is they are somehow messed up because of the timeout I get.
Attempts to run the other assistants after the Java Security Assistant also fail (probably because of OPMN not starting).
The jaznca.log shows the following:

Later attempts just to start opmn with opmnctl startall fail with only starting 1 of 2 processes. The OHS starts, but the default OC4J home instance fails.
Any ideas? This shouldn't be this difficult. The only potentially flakey issue is I have a 2.6 GHz Celeron processor instead of Pentium, but I have found no docs indicating that's a problem.
Thanks in advance!
Mike
Section 4.8 The /etc/hosts File of the HP/Linux doc states that:
The /etc/hosts file should use the following format:
ip_address fully_qualified_hostname short_hostname
because the installer reads that format to "construct the location of the default Identity Management realm". Basically it is used for OID and SSO setup.
The doc later mentions that you can temporarily set the /etc/hosts the purposes of the install or pass the fully qualified domain name as an OUI_HOSTNAME parameter.
So, technically speaking, this isn't as much of a hard requirment as in 9.0.2, but the software still wants the same information. Setting up the /etc/hosts in that format seems to be the easiest way to provide the info from an Oracle standpoint.
Under 9.0.2 this requirement was a big problem on existing machines. Any backport or way on 9.0.2 to "trick" the installer into running without permanently changing the name? Could you just temporarily change these values on a standalone J2EE + Web Cache install (without infrastructure)?

OPMN configuration assistant failed while applying patch on SOA 10.1.3.1
Hi All,
I tried upgrading the SOA Server from version 10.1.3.1 to 10.1.3.4 by applying a patch . But while applying patch I faced an error “OPMN Configuration Assistant failed “ . When I gave opmnctl status command in the command prompt I found that the issue is with starting up the HTTP Server . Rest all components of opmn were up and running.
The error msg i got is:

OPMN configuration assistant fails on Install
We are installing B2B intergation and during the install the OPMN configuration Assistant Fails. The error description is

failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit
Log:
/home/oracle/MTProd/opmn/logs/B2B~B2BServer~MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com~1
The log shows:
06/05/17 14:56:49 Start process
May 17, 2006 2:56:51 PM: Starting B2B Engine -MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com..
May 17, 2006 2:57:00 PM: There was an error starting B2B Engine -MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com.
Any ideas how to proceed.. we are in the process of opening a TAR.
ThanksPlease turn on the debug trace in tip.properties
Since we want to see why B2B did not start, we want to have as much trace as possible. Please set the following (in tip.properties)
b2b.oracle.tip.DiagnosticLevel = DEBUG
oracle.tip.LogType = text
If there is an exception in also should be logged in /home/oracle/MTProd/opmn/logs/B2B~B2BServer~MTProd.helenab2b.helenachemical.com~1
Please gather as much trace information as possible when you start the B2B Server manually.
If opmn is not started, use the 'opmnctl start' command in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin
Then use the following command to start B2B:
opmnctl startproc process-type=B2BServer

OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails during Installation
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g 10.1.2 (Release 2) in Windows 2K platform, it fails in the installation with the message as "OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails" in the OUI installation wizard and does not proceed at the end of it.
Then when I try to goto console of opmn and do startall and find out the status, it gives the status as OHS down. ANy idea why this is happening ?
Regds,
Nagarajan K.Hi Nagarajan!
When the OHS does not start most of the config assitants will fail. Often the failures occur due to a bad network configuration (check your hosts file), more than one network card or an already running process on that port (eg you already have an Apache running on this machine).
In the cfgtoollogs a detailled error should be reported in the installactions file.

Someone can help me?
Thanks a lot.is it a reinstallation or a first one on a bare server ? if there were several attempts please be sure you cleaned evrything before launching the installation :
- product directory
- /etc/ora*
- database
- oraInventory
- /tmp (I had a similar issue with remaining files in /tmp, even after rebooting)
If it doesn't work, check that you don't hit the NO-EXCUTE problem (see the OCS 10.1.2 release notes, look for "noexec") -
INS-20802 Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant failed
Thought I would post what information I've gathered, after facing this error during install of RAC Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5 64-bit, as Oracle Support is once again unable to help. Maybe this will save someone else some time and the aggravation of dealing with lousy Oracle Support.
The error occurs after root.sh has successfully completed on all nodes. Oracle Net Configuration Assistant runs successfully, then Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant launches and subsequently fails with the following.
[INS-20802] Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant failed.
/u01/app/oraInventory/logs/installActions2010-12-13_01-26-10PM.log
INFO: Starting 'Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant'

INFO: PRIF-26: Error in update the profiles in the cluster
INFO:

INFO: Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant failed.
I was able to find another error that coincides with the PRIF-26 error: "CRS-2324:Error(s) occurred while trying to push GPnP profile. State may be inconsistent."
I was also able to duplicate the PRIF-26 error by trying to add a non-existent network interface via oifcfg:
./oifcfg setif -global jjj1/192.167.1.0:cluster_interconnect
PRIF-26: Error in update the profiles in the cluster
My best guess is the Oracle Private Interconnect Configuration Assistant makes a call to oifcfg. When oifcfg makes an update or adds a public/private interface, some XML files are also updated or maybe cross-referenced. These files are located here: <grid_home>/gpnp/<host>/profiles/peer
Any updates/changes/addtions to the private or public interfaces include changes for the Grid Plug-n-Play component, which uses the XML files. If the interface name is not contained in the XML files, my best guess is that triggers the "CRS-2324:Error(s) occurred while trying to push GPnP profile. State may be inconsistent.
I verified everything was configured correctly; the cluster verification utility reported everything was ok. I also ran the cluster verifcation utility against the GP-nP:
./cluvfy comp gpnp -verbose
I also reviewed the public and private interfaces via oifcfg and they are correct:
[oracle@ryoradb1 bin]$ ./oifcfg getif -global
eth0 10.10.2.0 global public
eth1 192.167.1.0 global cluster_interconnect
[oracle@ryoradb1 bin]$ ./oifcfg iflist -p
eth0 10.10.2.0 PRIVATE
eth1 192.167.1.0 UNKNOWN
My conclusion is the environment is configured correctly, in spite of the error generated by the Oracle Private Configuration Assistant.I understand that you have installed 11.2.0.1 not 11.2.0.2 because multicating must be enabled if you have installed 11.2.0.2 and you may face these sort of problems because cluster nodes would not be able to communicate with each other.
Please check ocssd.log especially on the first node because this file will give more inforamtion as to why first node is not able to push GPnP file. As you have executed cluvfy to confirm the GPnP but to confirm whether GPnP profile is accurate to just narrow down the problem, I would suggest you to try to start cluster in exclusive mode so that you can sure that GPnP profile is good.
Shutdown CRS on all nodes, if there is any hung processes then kill them before executing the fllowing command to start cluster in exclusive mode.
$GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl start crs -excl
If you are able to start cluster in exclusive then it is sure that GPnP is correct and then next step would be to verify the private network.
See how you goes.
FYI, I was recently analyzing the same sort of problems where cluster was not able to access GPnP profile and finally I found issues on my private network. Customer had enabled IGMP snooping, which was avoiding multicast communication over the private network but it was 11.2.0.2, which is not the case here.

OracleAS Patchset 10.1.2.3 Fails running oc4j Configuration Assist
Hi,
We are upgrading our 12.0.4 EBS to 12.1.1.
As part of pre -upgrade steps, i am applying 10.1.2.3 patch on 10.1.2.0.2.
It is failing while running oc4j configuration assistant with below error.

I stopped all apps services before starting the patch, but when it failed during relink phase, i cancelled the installation and did necessary steps and restarted installation.
If at this stage i need to re apply the patch do i have to recover the 10.1.2 oracle home from backup?

Database Configuration Assistant for 8.1.61 and Red Hat 6.1
This is my first install and I'm a little confused.
Im installing Oracle Enterprise 8i release 2 (aka 8.1.6.1) on a Linux box (Red Hat 6.1). When Oracles Installer gets to the Database Configuration Assistant, it runs for awhile and then gives me this error:
ORA-03114 not connected to ORACLE
When I click OK to dismiss the message, it just hangs there. If I get to a shell and kill off a few of the DbCA processes, I eventually get back to the Installer and I can Exit. It says that the installation was successful but the sample database was not created.
Ive tried this twice now. Same result each time.
nullHi,
I've got the same problem. dbassist and svrmgrl give me the same errors.
I'm using Oracle 8.1.6.1.0 on Mandrake 7.1. With the 2.2.15-4mdksecure kernel.
SVRMGR> CONNECT INTERNAL
Connected
SVRMGR> STARTUP NOMOUNT
ORA-00445: background process "PMON" did not start after 120 seconds
SVRMGR> (SQL stuff...)
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Any ideas?
This is driving me nuts!!!
Thx
Johan

Grid 11GR2:: [INS-20802] Oracle Net Configuration Assistant Failed
Hi Oracle DBA's.
I am trying to configure GRID comprising of 2 Nodes and the installation works without error all the way through to the end of the installer when it
errors out @ the *Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. I've built this before without hassle and cannot figure out what's causing the error, this time round.
2 Nodes (Redhat 5.4 64 Bit)
Linux jabal.example.com 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Dec 17 11:41:38 EST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
jabal.example.com & jebel.example.com are the nodes.
Both the servers are clean installs and updated with all the required dependencies satisfied.
Iptables & SElinux are disabled on both nodes.
I've read a few posts on the net pointing the problem to a miconfigured /etc/hosts file, i've included mine here below for some comment?

SSO Configuration Assistant failed.
I have checked thelog files but there is nothing in that.
in the hosts file I have given fully qualiifed name as "nufastserver.local.nu"
Can any bosy help me in this problem. I have tried reinstalling the OS also but the problem is still there at the same placeI had exactly the same poblem on a red hat 64bit OS on the infrastructure install.
But while trying to start opmn manually (that is definitely not to do to solve the problem). I had the error telling me that the shared library libdb.so.2 was not accessible.
I did add the compat-db-4xxxxx.i386.rpm and then retry the check. Then all passed threw.
To note that the .log file from the install says definitely nothing about this and that just trying to start the opmn did create another .log that gave me the file problem.
Hope it can help for 64bit linux OS installation. -

Somebody have any idea... Could tell me what do?
Thanks!Hi,
Indeed, I am trying to install Oracle Application Server inside a Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) VMWare vm.
This URL [http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?language=en_US&externalId=1420] for some reason shows me a blank page.
@In case above URL goes bad, a copy dated 26-AUG-2008 is attached hereNot sure what you mean by "+is attached here+"?
I found similar posts on time problems in Linux VMWare virtual machines,
- [http://msmvps.com/blogs/rexiology/archive/2006/12/21/clock-in-a-linux-guest-runs-more-slowly-or-quickly-than-real-time.aspx]
but they're all kind of old, and the last URL says that "+Mainline Linux kernels 2.6.18 and later are not affected+".
My Ubuntu version is using a newer kernel:
Linux ubuntu-9 2.6.28-13-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 2 07:57:31 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
So I'm wondering, did anyone solve this problem on a system like mine? how?
Thanks

Calendar Application System Configuration Assistant failed
Hi
I'm a newbit to OCS and have been trying to installl OCS 10.1.2 on Red Hat ES4 on a HP DL385 box - 6 GB and got stuck at the Calendar Application System Configuration Assistant part.
Retried it several times, both in Basic or Advanced installations and also, checked the possibility of NO EXEC issue for AMD64 box. The logs are:

VickyHi all,
I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues. -

Configuration assistant "Calendar Server Configuration Assistant" failed
Anybody aware how to disassociate masternode from OID?
Will appreciate your prompt reply.
Thanks in advanceI'm having a similar issue, and have opened a TAR for the problem. According to Oracle, it's the same error as the one received when the username is over 8 characters. Being that this is not the case in my environment, they are scratching their heads.
The only thing we can see as a possible user-name type issue is that the username and the group name are the same, though this is probably not the issue.
I'll post anything I find out.

OMS configuration assistant failed during install OEM 10gR2
I'm installing OEM Grid control 10g R2 using new database. Everything ran smoothly till OMS configuration assistant was kicked off. All other configuration tools ran before this one were succeeded.
When OMS configuration tool started, it hung there for a long time, so I "stop" and "retry" it, got message in detail box" /usr/oracle/OracleHomes/agent10g/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same."
In "configToolFailedCommands" file, showing "oracle.sysman.emcp.agent.AgentPlugIn".
I tried to "stop" and "retry", machine was frozen. What can I do now?
Please help. I'm stuck here.
Thanks in advance! The configuration failed again.
