Opmnctl stopall command

Hi friends
When i give opmnctl stopall command in my application server it takes more than 25 min to get stopped completely. In the mean time when i check opmnctl status only OC4J and DCM-Daemon process is alive and all others are stopped. Some time i go to process manager and kill the session forcefully. Please let me know why this OC4J takes more time to get stopped and what should i do so that opmnctl stopall command completes quickly.
With Regards
M C Jayanarayan

Sometimes this happens when there are more number of applications active and running on that particular oc4j instance.
Stop the applications manually and then try to stop the oc4j container. This will help to narrow down the issue.

  • Diff between "opmnctl stopall" and "opmnctl shutdown" ?

As far as I found out there are two similar commands:
    "opmnctl stopall"
    and
    "opmnctl shutdown"
    What is the difference?
    Peter

"opmnctl stopall" : This will stop all the processes in controlled manner. It means if any work is in progress than untill it finishes that component would not stop. Also from the time you execute this command new task would not be initiated and thus the component would not be avaialble for new requests.
"opmnctl shutdown" : This is equivalent to ctrl+c instruction to any process running from windows command prompt or similar instruction in other OS. This will initiate the forcefull shutdown of processes and may lead to loss of data if process are not complete and performing some task. This should be used when you left with no other option to bring down the server.

  • Opmnctl status command missing?

    Hello,
I'm installing a 3-tier OCS9.0.4 Collaboration Suite on Windows 2003 Server and I just finished installing the infrastructure tier. The installation was successful.
I'm following the Application Server 10g Administrator Guide to verify the installation. Task 4 of section 1.4 specifies to run the opmnctl status command to verify that the opmn services are running.
I go to the bin folder C:\ocs_infra\opmn\bin (c:\ocs_infra is my Oracle Home) and run the command "opmnctl status". The result of this is that opmctl returns with the usage information. It does not list the status, ping or validate commands and trying any of these commands results with the usage information shown.
Why am I missing the status command? Is there a way to get it back? Is there another way to verify which opmn processes are running?
    Thanks,
    Ana

OCS 9.0.4 is usually based on 9iAS 9.0.2.(3). This means you will have to follow the instructions in the 9.0.2 documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/ias.html
Not all components are managed by OPMN/DCM. For example, OID, is started by hand. There are even startup/shutdown scripts on MetaLink for all components, including some 'wait' loops because you cannot fire them in a row.
But why all this archeology, instead of installing a current version?

I see the behavior when a process is running on BPEL or ESB, you have to make sure that no one is logged in or running any process to stop it, because the opmnctl stopall will wait for this process to end in order to stop. and as it get the time out it will show this error.
You can increase the *<stop timeout="300">* in the opmn.xml for the process that usually fails... but think that 300 seconds is a lot of time to wait for this process. So you may change it to the original.

  • Opmnctl stopall doesn't end related Database user Sessions

    Hi all,
I have iAS10g installed to work with DB10g.
A strange behavior of opmn is that application user sessions on DB are not ended with "opmnctl stopall" action even if oas processes are still stopped.
just to mention that iAs and DB are not installed on the same server
    thanyou for every help

    Hi,
    In one case
User is able to log in on the general page, then goes to 'select responsibility --> continue--> then gets error message that it is unable to open another window and to verify pop up blocker
Pop-ups have been enabled and user is still unable to get past this step in the program. The pop up blocker should be Disabled in order to allow opening a new window.
If you are using IE7/IE8 define the tabs behavior so that a link will open in new window and not in new tab.
    >
In another case, the applet opens ok, and when user chooses to open a workbook from the database, the workbook list is just blank. There are no security or privilege issues for that responsibility as i have checked.
If the workbook list is empty that means he has no shared workbooks with him.
Share a workbook with him or with the responsibility he uses.
By the way you should check the Java version and the explorer you use so that you can verify the first issue you by using same as in another station that it works.

Is it possible that someone editted it and messed up the XML structure? If you have XML Spy, see if server.xml is well-formed and valid. If you have a backup or saved file of the previous version, you may want to go back to that.

  • Unable to create OC4J instance - out of sync instance

    RDBMS Version: 9.2.0.0
    Operating System: W2K
    Product Version: 9.0.4.0.0
    JDK Version: 1.4.2_03
    Error number: ADMN 705021
    Hi
I am trying to create an OC4J instance using EM. When I do, I receive the
    following error message:
The operation failed...<instance_name>. See base exception for details. Root
cause: Error encountered executing command <oracle_home>\bin\emtcgtcl -add
<oracle_home> -EMDROOT <oracle_home>_agent. Error in writing input.
I issued a dcmctl listcomponents command at this point and the container I
was trying to create shows in the list. I also issued dcmctl updateconfig
and getstate commands. I then get a ADMN 705021 error: The configuration
files for this 10g instance are inconsistent with the configuration shared
in the repository...Check the logs at $ORACLE_HOME\dcm\logs.
To try and resolve the problem, I used note 238393.1 Troubleshooting DCM
Repository Out of Sync Errors. I checked all configuration files existed.I
then checked the repository components list, creating fake directories for
those components that showed using dcmctl listcomponents, and then
consequently removed those components. When I removed them, I would receive
an ADMN 906025 error, but the component would be removed. I checked that the
deployed applications list was correct using dcmctl listapplications, and it
was. However I would also receive the following error message:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException:
    <Oracle_Home>\j2ee\home\application-deployment\wp\jazn-data.tmp (The system
cannot find the path specified). The directory wp does not exist, so this
    message is accurate.
I'm kind of at a loss where to start given all these error messages. I guess
what I need to do is get the instance in sync somehow, and then hopefully be
able to create an oc4j instance.
Can anyone suggest an approach given the detail above?
    Regards
    Andy

    Andy,
Check the state of your repository using 'dcmctl getState' command. If you get an error or 'In Sync Status' for one of the component is shown as 'false', try to resync the instance using 'dcmctl resyncInstance'.
If resyncInstance succeed, remove the OC4J instance/component that you were trying to add initially and create it again using removeComponent and createComponent commands.
If resyncInstance fails, shutdown (if possible) all OracleAS instances in DCM-Managed OracleAS Cluster (if any). Shutdown all process of the instance (using 'opmnctl stopall' command) including OracleAS Control Console (using 'emctl stop iasconsole') and start the instances again (using 'opmnctl startall' and 'opmnctl startproc ias-component=dcm-daemon'). Remember to first start the OracleAS instance that is acting as repository host for File-based repository (if any).
Now check the instance state, list of components and list of applications. If problem persist, please contact Oracle Support by logging a TAR to further diagnose and help resolve this issue.

User are able to run detail worksheets but not summary sheets for these details reports in discoverer viewer or plus.
If I login as same user I can run in desktop.

    Hi All,
I opened SR and oracle suggested these steps and it worked.
    1.) Backup the pref.txt file in the $ORACLE_HOME/discoverer/util/ directory ;
2.) Stop the Discoverer and Oc4j instance (you can use "opmnctl stopall" command)
3.) Edit the parameters in the pref.txt to be :
    EnhancedAggregationStrategy= 0
    UseNoRewriteHint=0
    UseOptimizerHints = 1
    then save the file.
4.) Once the file is successfully edited, run the applypreferences.sh file in the same directory to get the new preferences into ef
    fect.
5.) Start Discoverer and Oc4j instance (you can use "opmnctl startall" command).
    It works.

  • Starting a WSAD server from the command prompt and not from the IDE UI

    Hi,
is there a way to run the WSAD server from the command prompt instead of using the IDE UI . i have tried starting the server from the Directory i have installed WSAD " D:\Program Files\IBM\WebsphereStudio\runtimes\base_v5\bin>startServer.bat" but it gives the Following error " The system cannot find the path specified." i am working . do i have to specify the workspace that i am currently working on

to see if the network adapter has registered with OPMN run: opmnctl status
the 6200 message is a timeout which can be set in opmn.xml, the reports server(s) and other processes managed by OPMN should still stop.
Try opmnctl stopall or opmnctl shutdown
Does the timeout shows up regularly ie can you repeat it?
After the stopall or shutdown try to start everything up again and try to stop the single reports server process again.

  • How to disable or rename Oracle Report Server servlet command?

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle9i App Server R2.
I would like to learn how to disable or rename Oracle Report Server's servlet command?
This is to avoid user from accessing http://myserver/reports/rwservlet/showmap to view the key map file content.
    Please advise.

or example, my report server was rep_appserver, then i want to rename it to rep_test.
Here some step to accomplish it,
    1. stop mid-tier
    $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin\opmnctl stopall
    2. stop em website
    $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl stop iasconsole
    3. rename $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\rep_<old_report_server_name>.conf to something else or delete it
    4. rename $ORACLE_HOME\reports\server\rep_<old_report_server_name>.dat to something else or delete it
    5. edit $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\rwservlet.properties file then change the SERVER parameter to new report server name(remember this new name has to be a unique name)
    6. create a backup copy of the $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\emd\targets.xml file
    7. open $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\emd\targets.xml, find old report server name and then replace it to new report server name
    8. save new targets.xml file
    9. open $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\conf\opmn.xml, old report server name and then replace it to new report server name
    10. start em website
    $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl start iasconsole
    11. start mid-tier
    $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin\opmnctl startall

  • Basic start & stop commands

    Greeting,
I'm a new'b to Grid. I have a grid installation monitoring multiple servers that I need to patch.
I'm just looking for basic command to stop and restart all components of the grid db.
    I've:
    emctl stop dbconsole
    emctl stop agent
Tried to run: emctl stop iasconsole but errors out.
I shutdown the db but I still have a lot of processes runing under th oem user, mostly apache and opmn
Can someone please just provide the normal shutdown and then start steps for the 10.2.0.3 grid db?
    Thank you

On the OMS server, you need to run:
$OMS_HOME/bin/opmnctl stopall and to restart everything use startall.
In addition to this, you stop the agent from $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl stop agent
Then you shut down grid control repository as well.
    You should check the doco.

Looks like something may have been hung. Kill any process still running after a shutdown of opmn and then delete any left over pids files in the states directory. After that you can do a opmn startall.

  • Starting and Stopping BPEL via opmnctl

    Hi All,
This should be easy - but I'm having some problems...
What I want to do is to script a nightly purge of my BPEL DB tables.
I have a working script that stops the whole App Server (opmnctl stopall), runs my SQL script and starts the app server again (opmnctl startall). The problem is that we have another application that is continually trying to write data to the OC4J JMS topics. By taking the whole app server down, the other app starts throwing exceptions because it can't write to the JMS topics.
I would think there would be a way I can take down only the BPEL process while I purge the DB - and still allow the JMS topics take in new messages. I tried the following...
    $OAS_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopproc application=orabpel
    <sql script >
    $OAS_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc application=orabpel
But after running this, my BPEL Console showed no processes loaded. I had to restart the whole app server to get them back.
    I also tried ...
    $OAS_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopproc ias-component=orabpel
    <sql script >
    $OAS_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc ias-component=orabpel
But this kicked back errors saying " No processes or applications match the specified configuration."
I suppose I could create a new OC4J instance for my JMS Topics. Then I should be able to start/stop either OC4J without affecting the other one. Is this the best solution?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Lon
    Oracle Consulting

Yes - after looking at this option - I think that's the direction I am going to go. It probably makes sense to give my JMS topics and my BPEL server their own OC4J instances anyway - for a number of reasons.
