Opportunities without products

Hello,
I was wondering if someone has experience with creating opportunities without products attached to them. If this is a service organization and there are no products as such, every opportunity or order will have its own price depending on amount of mandays, etc. How would you approach this? What would be the best way to set it up in the system?

Generally opportunities are often found without products, esp. in early sales stages as in these phases the products offered to the customer are not yet clear. One can work with dummy products assigned to the product hierarchy which are refined / replaced further in the process. But this is the exception, not the rule.
If you are in a service organisation it might be helpful to have a 'manday' product whcih you can assign, but that depends on your business. If you are just selling time & material this approach might be fine, if you are selling deliverables like fixed projects or similar this might work as well, but you could also introduce a freely-priced project here.
But in the cases I know one works without products and just maintains the expected sales volume on opportunity header as the time & material is the only product and of not much additional use.

    yes, you will have to create a catalog without products. This is because the catalog is a required field when creating a new shop in the shopadmin. Only when you use the webshop with an R/3 or ERP backend, no catalog is required at all.

  • Opportunities with Products not pulling after recent patch

    I have multiple opportunities with products and costs associated with them that are not pulling when I run a historical report.
    For example:
    I run a report on Thursday at 2:00 PM. I have a user who has modified an opportunity on Thursday morning. I understand my historical report pulls everything from the previous day (Wednesday) and prior. However, they only changed the closing date on the opportunity. They did not change anything about the product. The product has had a quantity and cost associated to it since creation (9/2/10). Just because they changed the closing date this automatically rejects the opportunity from the historical report?
    My report is supposed to pull every opportunity with associated products and costs. It seems to be neglecting anything that was modified on the day it is ran.
    Also, I should mention that the reason I am running a historical report is because the real-time report seemed to be doing the same thing. It wasn't including opportunities with products clearly associated to it. These opportunities would be included in a "opportunity - no product" report.

    Check that the currencies are set on both the header and products. There is a note about this in the R18 notes.

    Is there any way to work with product costing module without production planning for service sector.

    You may use the product costing without quantity structure. This is useful if you do not have PP module but have materials and you need to calculate the standard cost of the materials.
    In case you do not have materials and only have kinds of services then these can be created as activities for a cost center like a FICO consulting activity for SAP cost center. You may then calculate a price per hour of the activity and may charge it to the service order/ internal order.

    Can I just export software component only from SLD without product included in the zip file ?
    Because currently either you export from product or software component both will be export all the component product and software component.

    whenever i click button export either for product or software component both including related product or software component.
    Product :
    --> click export button (Hint : Export this product including all the software component).
    Software Component.
    --> click export button (Hint : Export this component, including the associated product and all other software component version for this product).
    any other way to export separately ?

  • Assignment of leads and opportunities by product

    Hello everyone,
    I need to assign leads and opportunities by product to selected personnel, is there anyway to detect more than 1 product in the lead or opportunity? This is because a lead and opportunity may have several products bundled together and it would be very repetitive for the sales person to create one lead\opportunity for each product they sell to the same customer.
    Any ideas on how to accomplish this? I was initially thinking of using Books, but it allows for only field comparisons of single values and not multi-picklists. So in the end the problem still comes back to having more than 1 product in a lead\opportunity.

    Yes, the initial thought here is to use a multi-picklist; but unfortunately I don't think the assignment manager supports multi-picklists.
    And yes, I would like to make it accessible to multiple people, not only one.
    Basically, the process goes something like the following:-
    1) Marketing obtains lead and enters into the system
    2) Lead is channeled to a product manager
    3) Product manager reassigns the lead to a salesperson
    4) Salesperson converts the lead into an an opportunity - Product Manager should be able to view this opportunity
    My question here is would the product manager still gain access to the lead once it is reassigned (salesperson is not reporting to the product manager in anyway)? And how can the product manager be able to view all opportunities which have the product he\she is in charge of?
    My initial thought here is that we have to fall back on using Books?

    This is from SAP documentation:
    Costs
    Actual costs
    The costs of the parent and child orders are collected in a common Product Cost Collector. This is because the parent order, as a rule, has already caused actual costs before the split took place. If the actual costs were collected in the parent order before the split, and separately in the parent/child orders after the split, then the materials of the parent order would have excessively high costs per piece, and the child order correspondingly lower costs. As a result, settlement for each order would result in unwanted variances in controlling.
    So, as you can see this is the way he system works, and for good reasons.
    Why is that a problem to you?

    To settle the cost of production order, you need not to confirm it. But on the same time if you want to settle the order when its not confirmed then WIP amount will be posted. WIP value will be posted if your order does not have DLV or TECO status. In your case, if you not confirmed the order, only material cost if any issued for order will be calculated, no activity cost will be calculate. And if you want to post the variance then order status needs to be either DLV (Completely Delivered) or TECO (Technically Completed). Here also the cost of activity will not be considered as you didn't confirmed the order.
    So if you want to settled the order without confirmation, then Activity cost will not be added in your settled cost. So your product costing will not be accurate.
    Please revert if you have any other doubts.

    Can we use the batch derivation functionality if no production module is active? Or do you always need such things like production and process orders?

    You can only use batch derivation if the batch-where-used-list is updated.  If you have the correct entries needed in that, then yes.
    But usually, without, process or production orders, the batch-where-used list is not fully updated with the records needed to do the mapping.  You'll only have material movement info and that probably won't have enough info for batch derivation.

    I need an information. Can you movement type 501 (Movement type without order) can be used in PP module?
    The descriptioni of 501 movement reads that 'Movement without reference'
    My question is can it be used in PP module to make goods receipt withouth production order.

    Hi,
    Not sure what you mean by using in PP module.
    Anyways 501 movement is used for GR w/o respect to a purchase order. You can use movement type 521 for GR w/o ref to Production order.

    if you prefer about compatibility, better support and aftersales service and price. I suggest you buy OEM device and gadget since most of them already tested in their factory (Hardware, software and OS).

    EQUZ-GEWRK has the main work center. Pass the equipment number and valid-to date to get the main work center.

  • Catalogs without product ID's

    This is for CCM2.0 experts.
    I need to create catalogs that have no references to product id's or part numbers from the suppliers. The catalogs will be associcated with a material group (such as temporary help, marketing, legal services, etc...) but the items are linked to GL accounts instead. During the SC creation process, EBP will try to validate the product ids and these catalogs won't have any. Has anyone created such a catalog? And does anyone know if there are special configurations I need to do in SRM for this type of catalog? These are more like service catalogs instead of product catalogs.

    We have a set of GL accounts assigned specifically to a vendor depending on the type of services or indirect materials they provide (by material groups). So basically the users pick the GL account that best describes the service that they want to purchase.
    I was advised to use category valuation in defining my contents rather than item valuation because of the lack of product numbers/ids. I tried both and have not been successful in getting the catalogs to work.
    Is there anything else I should keep in mind other than the "Do not check product" checkbox?

  • SC cart got created from MDM Catalog but without product category

    Hello Friends,
    While creating SC from MDM, all the data got successfully transferred except product category which is blank and greyed out.
    On checking log in SLG1 under Catalog data, there I can see NEW_ITEM-MATGROUP = K301 but below there are 2 messages
        1. 00001 I BBPWS Product Category K301 does not exist K301
        2. 00001 I BBPWS Standard category of user was used J106
    Under the Ext Attributes of user Product Category is maintained as "*" with logical system.
    If I try to create SC manually " Describe requirement" using the category K301 I could able to create.
    Please advice and points will rewarded.

    Follow the below steps for uploading the excise stock balance
    1. Maintain the material and chapter ID combination in J1ID and material type as Raw material  raw material and Finished goods for Finished goods.
    2. Maintain Material form in SE16N table maintaince for all the finished goods in table J_2IRG1BAL.
    For example:
    If you want to run the RG1 report from 01.01.2004 maintain the following
    entries in table J_2IRG1BAL for all RG1 material.
    EXGRP: Excise group of the material
    DATUM: Date from which you want RG1 report i.e. 01.01.2004
    MATNR: Material
    FORM: P for packed, L for loose. note that the same material cannot be
    maintained as both packed and loose.
    WERKS: Leave it blank
    Maintain all relevant opening balance fields. These fields start with
    OP
    Enter the username in USNAM and CPUDT (current date).

    6. Then make excise entry in transaction J1I5.
