[OpsMgr 2012 SP1 RU1] Network Devices disappeared
Hello,
I have enabled network monitoring on my OpsMgr 2012 environment.
I created explicit discovery rules to discover around 20 newtork devices
There are two CISCO 6506 switches running in pair with IP address 172.x.x.117 and 172.x.x.118
Both switches are discovered and under monitored successfully, I can monitored the Proccessor usage, ports, etc
However, after sometime, the 172.x.x.117 switch disappeared from the console.
I tried to re-discover it, but it eventually disappeared again.
Please help on this issue, is it a bug or something? the second swtich 172.x.x.118 is being monitored normally without any issue
Thank you very much
I have the same problem, but the network device thats disappears for me is a windows server 2008 R2 that I have added as a network device.

Hi!
I was adding some network devices to SCOM 2012 R2. One of my network devices appeared as a pending device. Reason: No Response SNMP.
After I added my scom management server to the accepted list on the server I wanted to monitor under the SNMP service it just disappeared from my SCOM management console. I cant find it under pending or Network Devices now.
If I try to run a discover again I cant find the device again, even if I remove the scom management server from the accepted list on the SNMP service. The only way to find the device again is to discover it only using ICMP.Hi,
Please check the event log of the Management Server where you assigned discovery to run. If discovery was a success, you will see your network device show up in the Admin console, under Network devices.

Customize OpsMgr 2012 SP1 Web Console settings
Hello all,
The question I have I've been seaching for days and I wasn't able to find nothing so I decided to ask here and hopefully there's someone
whose already did it.
I'm found some divergences on the number of alerts webconsole shows compared to scom console (UI).
Due this issue I spent hours of research on blogs and foruns until I find a blog post from Michael Pearson (link below) that list
a bunch of settings you can add to web.config file, allowing you to choose which interval and which kind of alerts you want to display (critical, critical and errors or critical, errors and information), among others. I tried to make it work on my lab environment
but these parameters seems to be incompatible with OpsMgr 2012.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/michaelpearson/archive/2009/11/30/opsmgr-r2-web-console-web-config-settings.aspx
Does anyone know if similar customization is available on OpsMgr 2012?
RegardsYou should modify the web.config file under
c:\program files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\operations Manager\webconsole\monitoringview

SCOM 2012 R2 Report Server component install to SQL 2012 Sp1 error?
Hi All
Im having issues installing SCOM 2012 R2 Report Server component to a SQL 2012 Sp1 Server (which is a Windows 2012 R2 Standard server). Im trying to install to the SQL Default server instance, note that the server also has a named instance
which hosts the SCOM databases. SQL Reporting Services is up and running fine (can access the web urls etc). Im also using the SCOM install account wich has full SQL and SCOM Server admin rights for the install. Ive checked that the Firewall
is off locally on the SQL Server, Ive also checked that the existing SCOM components are all in a Healthy state in the SCOM console.
The installed version of SQL Server could not be verified or is not supported. Verify that the computer and the installed version of SQL Server meet the minimum requirements for installation, and that the firewall settings are correct. See the Supported
Configurations document for further information.
Ive attempted the install on a standalone SQL Server away from the SQL Server hosting the SCOM databases, but encounter the same error. The full SCOM MSI Installer log details are below, line that appears most relevant is below but unsure why
this would be the case (same account that I used for SQL install etc). Any help much appreciated! : )

The issue is SQL report server database related, I would like to suggest you create a new report database for SCOM and then check the reuslt. Please refer to the below links and follow it to set up SCOM 2012 R2:

Three agent UR versions gets installed from gateway - SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4
Hi,
We have a SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4 installation with several gateways that servers connect to and get installation from.
We noticed that when the agent get installed on a client server it gets first the agent itself, then UR1, UR2 and last UR4.
From the XML-section in the task that has installed the agent one can read the following:
SoftwareUpdateInstalled KB2784734-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2826664-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2880799-amd64-Agent.msp; SoftwareUpdateInstalled
Below is from the application log of a newly installed server that got the agent installed.
The question I have is if this is correct? Why are all three UR installed?
Shouldn't it be enough with the latest version of UR? Are they not cumulative?
Can I simply delete the older versions in the agent directory of the Gateway?

This should be normal, as we can see in the below two articles. When applying Update Rollup 2, UR1 is listed there, and when applying Update Rollup 3, UR1 and UR2 is listed there also.

For example, UR3 can be applied to System Center Operations Manager 2012 SP1 (as released) or a SCOM 2012 SP1 deployment that has had UR1 or UR2 already applied.

MMC crashes when attempting modification of a protection group in DPM 2012 SP1 RU3
Hi All,
I've got a problem with my DPM 2012 SP1 server for a few weeks now. It's backing up and restoring fine, but when I attempt to modify any protection group, the MMC crashes. This happens even before the modify protection group dialog is displayed, just a few
seconds after clicking 'modify' with the protection group selected.
it was running DPM 2012 SP1 RU1, is now running RU3, this update did not make the difference I was hoping for. Also installation of the DPM console on a remote management server results in the exact same problem.
Below is the error message. Has anyone else had this or a similar problem and solved it?
Thanks,
Jacob

SCOM Monitoring Multiple interface of a same network device
hi
I have deployed SCOM 2012 R2. I have discovered around 200 network device by using device's loopback IP adress with SNMP v3.
100 dvices are in the branch offices those are connected with 3 links in three interfaces respectively. Even if two link is down, i can see that my network device is healthy since network device is discovered with the loopback address. How can i configure
my network monitoring so that even if one link goes down i can see some kind of warning or error in the particular network device in my monitoring pane. Please say if my infrastructure is unclear.Hi,
You can create built-in network ICMP only network monitoring for the three interfaces respectively.

Performance of Network Monitoring in SCOM 2012 SP1
Hi all!
I´ve problems with performance of the network monitoring feature in SCOM 2012 SP1.
According to the
guide the following should be adeqate:
•1000 network devices (approximately 12,500 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has three or more management servers
•500 network devices (approximately 6,250 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has two or more gateway servers
We have 800 network devices with a total of 24000 ports,
BUT only 1500 of them are monitored. This is basically what happens automatically after discovery, since only ports between monitored devices are monitored by default.
For this setup I first used only one management server dedicated to the Network Pool,
based on my assumption that if two servers could monitor 6250 ports, one server would be more than enough for 1500. I found this configuration working very poorly so I added another server. I now have two servers
dedicated for the Network Resource Pool. (They are NOT members of the “All management servers resource pool”)
Still, I get constant alerts regarding Health Services Private Bytes on these servers. They vary between 1-2Gbytes. Furthermore, if one of the servers goes offline, the network devices that was monitored by that server becomes grey for
several hours. Even if the server only is rebooted it takes forever to get everything online and green again.
I don´t really know what I should do now. I had a plan to replace our current network monitoring system (SNMPc) which easily handles this load on only one server. They are of course completely different beasts, but still. SCOM seems to
require a massive back-end to produce equivalent real life results.
Any suggestions or reflections from the field are highly appreciated!
Regards
PeterHi,
Try to overide the monitor Health Services Private Bytes by the following steps.
◾Go Authoring space – Management Pack Objects – Monitors
◾Go to change scope – select clear all – look for Health Service – tick it and press OK.
◾Expand Health Service – expand Entity Health – expand Performance – expand Health Service Performance
◾Select the Health Health Service Private Bytes Threshold.
◾Right click the mouse and choose to overide the monitor for a group
◾Select the group called Management Server Computer Group and press OK
◾Select the Agent Performance Monitor Type – Threshold and change the value 104857600 to ex. 2610612736.
◾Select to store the overide in a management pack you have created and press OK

Could anyone says how to delete network device in SCOM 2012 through powershell?
In 2007 we have Get-RemotelyManagedDevice.
I have a big number network device in monitoring and now need delete some of them with specific filter, all switches.
How to do it?

20070
The OpsMgr Connector connected to XXXXXX.domain.net, but the connection was closed immediately after authentication occurred. The most likely
cause of this error is that the agent is not authorized to communicate with the server, or the server has not received configuration.
21006
The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to XXXXXX.domain.net:5723. The error code is 10060L(A connection attempt failed because the connected
party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.).
21015
OpsMgr was unable to set up a communications channel to XXXXXX.domain.net. Communication will resume when XXXXXX.domain.net is available and
communication from this computer is allowed.
On my various 2012 SP1 Management Servers, I am getting the following Event IDs in my OperationsManager event logs:
20000
A device which is not part of this management group has attempted to access this Health Service.
Requesting Device Name: servername.domain.com
Here are my settings and what I have tried:
We have agents assigned by AD-integration, and they are receiving their proper assignment
Agents are manually installed with SCCM 2012
“Automatically approve new manually installed agents” is selected
I have rebuilt the Health Service State folder and rebooted the service on the agent server
I have rebuilt the Health Service State folder on my management server and rebooted it to reset all services
On several agent servers that I am experiencing this issue, they are on the same network as their assigned management server, so there is no firewall issue.Hi,

SCCM 2012 SP1 MDT task sequence fails on reboot does not retain ip
we are having a sccm 2012 sp1 server that used for installation of win 8.1 Enterprise , the task sequence works perfectly fine but when we run the same task on HP Elite 8300 system having Intel 82579LM Adapter from Windows XP , after the reboot the
task fails as no ip address is assigned the NIC , We did download the WInPE Adapter drivers from HP site and injecting to the x86 Boot Image (6.2.9200) however the task still fails ,
Our environment uses all static ip address , the same task as mentioned earlier has worked fine with Different brands of HP elite 8200/8100 , infact the elite 8200 also uses the same NIC card

Awating response,
Hasan RezaWell Finally I sorted my issue ,
Just want to share the solution, may be it would be helpful to some one else and save some times
The problem was that the Xp images has lot of hidden NIC installed , this would not allow the system to work with the correct NIC card and Ip address (System -> View Hidden Devices) , what I did 2 things
1) Copied the OSD Script folder from the SCCM Server to the Client pc and ran that ztigather.wsf and captured the output , it was evident that it showed capturing multiple adapters , (There are some blogs that pointed out that OSD can capture only one nic
due to the only one Adapter0 section being defined in the ZTIgather.xml file,)
2) I open the registry at the xp pc navigated to HKLM-> System ->Current Control Set-> Services-> TCPIP -> Parameters-> Interfaces ->
Expect for the NIC card that had the Ip address assigned I deleted all other nic card's guid,
As then post running deleting the old scanstate (USMTUTIL /rd c:\statestore) , reran the task and VOILA..
All worked fine , below are the two post I followed , though notvery relevant but they were helpful and help me reached the conclusion.
Thanks,
Hasan Reza.
