ORA-03232 Error on Spatial Join

I am trying to run the following query. The tablesnames are pretty self explanitory.
SELECT c.cnty,COUNTY(a.id)
FROM county c,addr_points a
WHERE SDO_RELATE(a.geoloc,c.geoloc,
'mask = ANYINTERACT
querytype = JOIN') = TRUE
GROUP BY c.cnty;
and am getting
ORA-03232: unable to allocate an extent of 14 blocks from tablespace 2
There is no such tablespace in our database, so we assumed it ment filename, which points to our rollback segments. These seem to be plenty large. We also not getting any alert logs that reflect this error. The docs on the error say to increase the default NEXT value on the tablespace, which we did. The current value is 5mb which is much larger than 14 blocks (block size is 8k).
Any suggestions?
Thanks

We got this to work, but we did it
with a querytype=WINDOW instead of a JOIN.
SELECT /*+ ORDERED */ c.cnty,COUNTY(a.id)
FROM county c,
addr_points a
WHERE SDO_RELATE(a.geoloc,c.geoloc,
'mask = ANYINTERACT querytype = WINDOW
LAYER_GTYPE=POINT') = 'TRUE'
GROUP BY c.cnty;
** A FEW NOTES **
The ordered by hint is very important
if you have more than one window
getting passed into the second parameter
of RELATE.
Also when you use the ORDERED hint, it is
important to make the table the windows
are coming from listed first in the
FROM clause.
*** We are still looking into why
the group by did not work with
querytype = JOIN
Will post something soon.
Thanks.

    it should be possible to create indexes using a generic function. Has any faced a similar problem?

    Hi,

  • ORA-03232 ERROR

    While enabling constraints on tables imported from another db (also oracle8i) I got the ORA-3232 error on tblespace 3 (????)
    Since I have not a tablespace named 3 I do not understand what I can do to solve this problem. Could anybody help me handling this problem?
    Thanks.

    The tablespace 3 is the number you find in the V$TABLESPACE system view, associated with the name of your tablespace

  • ORA-01704 error form spatial data type (SDO_UTIL.FROM_WKTGEOMETRY)

    I am trying to make a program (C# & ODP.NET)to do the task , get geometry data From sqlserver2008 database and INSERT INTO Oracle11 Spatial Database.
    Because of using the Well-Known text (WKT) syntax , so I need to use "SDO_UTIL.FROM_WKTGEOMETRY('POLYGON ((56678400..." to insert geometry data to oracle. When the polygon text is longest than 4000 chr, I got the exception
    [ORA-01704: string literal too long]
    How can we solve this problem? It's urgent!
    Hope to hear from you.
    Fan

    Try with bind variables:
    oerr ora 1704
    01704, 00000, "string literal too long"
    // *Cause:  The string literal is longer than 4000 characters.
    // *Action:  Use a string literal of at most 4000 characters.
    //          Longer values may only be entered using bind variables.Please read http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2005/05-sep/o55odpnet-101704.html.

  • While using the Old syntax of outer join i encountered Ora-01719 error .

    This is quite strange when i used the Old way of using Outer Joins(+), i encountered the Ora-01719 error saying Outer Joins not allowed in Or and IN operator.Whereas when i use the ANSI sql i query gets executed without any error.Any idea what might be the reason..is it that i myself is making mistake.

    There are work-arounds, but they are harder to code and slower to run than simply using ANSI syntax.
    I recommend always using ANSI syntax, especially for outer joins.

  • ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine

    I am receiving the following error from FME(safe software) when creating a spatial index. I have ruled out several of the common causes as reported in this forum because the procedure works for dataset with 300,000 rows of less but fails with the full dataset of 455,412 rows.
    I am using 10G 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bi
    Any hints/tips would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thank you both for replies.
    The error does ocurr when I try to create the index from SQL, see message text below.
    With the spatial index creation disabled in FME the run completes sucessfully, so the data is ok, well thats a maybe.
    So I omitted the first 200,000 input rows and ran the last 255,413 rows and the index was sucessfully created (in FME) so now I conclude that the data IS ok (I had previously done a successful run with the first 300,000 rows)
    Therefore I am thinking that my database has a problem when it is asked to create a spatial index with the full 455,412 rows. Could this be configuration, a space problem . . . .
    Any more suggestions?
    Thanks

    bytes of shared memory ("","","","")
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
    I've already tried to increase memory, shared and large pool, actually I have the following settings:
    Shared pool 500
    Buffer cache 200
    Large pool 200
    Pool Java 20
    I've already installed data and created spatial indexes on other machine correctly with the same data with less memory use, and I can't find any difference.
    Could anybody help me?

    Andre,
    I didn't think the , and ; in the sdo_geom_metadata would be causing the problem because he indicated that he could build indexes on other data - I assume he uses the same diminfo values for these as well. But, one can never be too sure!
    But certainly, follow what the error messages indicate.
    The Oracle Error message manual says:
    "ORA-13232: failed to allocate memory during R-tree creation
    Cause: This feature assumes a minimum of 64K memory for bulk creation.
    Action: Create the index for a small subset of the data. Then, use transactional insert operations for the rest of the data."
    The spatial manual says:
    "Before you create a spatial index, be sure that the rollback segment size and the SORT_AREA_SIZE parameter value are adequate, as described in Section 4.1.1."
    One way to change the sort area size is to alter your existing session before
    executing the create index statement. So, from 4.1.1. this can be done via:
    ALTER SESSION SET SORT_AREA_SIZE = 20000000;
    Also, do what Andre suggests. On my laptop with 1G of memory as a matter of course I change the SGA from the default to being much larger.

  • SDO_SAM 13390: error in spatial analysis and mining function

    Hi All,
    I have an arror, when I try to run function SDO_SAM.COLOCATED_REFERENCE_FEATURES.
    I'm executing in this way:
    BEGIN
    SDO_SAM.COLOCATED_REFERENCE_FEATURES(
    'CITIES', 'GEOM', 'POP2000 > 12000',
    'CRIMES', 'GEOM', null,
    'distance=20 unit=km', 'COLOCATION_TABLE', 20);
    END;
    At the begining I created tables CITIES and CRIMES with column GEOM SDO_GEOMETRY() type.
    After that I inserted to USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA values:
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)

    COMMIT;
    and I also defined table COLOCATION_TABLE (tid NUMBER, rid1 VARCHAR2(24), rid2 VARCHAR2(24))

  • Error creating Spatial Index - ORA-29855

    I have a DB in 11g that I used SQL Developer to copy to my local machine, 10g installation. I copied the same kind of databases around a lot but this is the first time I'm getting this error, when creating the spatial index.
    For this table I only copy the DDL and then run a .sql file with lot's of inserts and now I'm trying to create the spatial index.
    So I tried:
    CREATE INDEX location_spatial_idx ON location(locationcoordinates) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX;
    And got:
    ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
    ORA-13203: failed to read USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view
    ORA-13203: failed to read USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
    My DB is:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod
    I tried running the create index as SYSDBA with no luck.
    select * from mdsys.sdo_index_metadata_table -> empty for this user owner
    select sdo_index_name from user_sdo_index_metadata -> empty
    SELECT * FROM SDO_INDEX_METADATA -> empty
    So... any clue on what I'm doing wrong?

    So... any clue on what I'm doing wrong?I would think that Oracle is quite clearly telling you what is wrong here: Your table is not in the metadata.
    If you simply create the DDL for the table and create the insert statements from SQL Developer, it won't create the insert into user_sdo_geom_metadata....
    And in order to create a spatial index, the table MUST be in the user_sdo_geom_metadata, whether you try to create the index as SYSDBA or as the owner of the table.

  • ORA-00947 Error on straight SELECT with INNER JOINs

    I have a REAL bizarre situation. I have a SQL SELECT Statement that is joining a few tables. I actually have a WHERE clause where I am filtering by a coulmn within one of the joins. Any help appriciated..

    Siva,
    Thank you for your response. Now I have tried by increasing the DIMINFO (rebuiding the index) to three.
    Now it shows below error..
    ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine

    I didn't reason now...for clarity
    Can I have 3d layer with 2d index's ?
    If Yes, can Spatial query work using these 2d index's against other 2d layer and 3d layers ?

  • ORA-22813 error when deleting spatial objects in LIVE

    Hi,
    We are getting an ORA-22813 error when attempting to delete a spatial object from a version-enabled table in workspace LIVE. The spatial object to be removed has a SDO type of multipolygon. The geometry information consists of 4 rings with a combined ordinate count of 4120. The statement used to delete the row is:
    delete from tableA where tableA.id in (select tableA.id from tableA where tableA.id = 3);
    The error occurs only on a 10g R1 Oracle instance (10.1.0.5.0) with Workspace Manager version 10.1.0.7.1. The delete operation succeeds without problems on a 10g R2 (10.2.0.2.0) instance with Workspace Manager version 10.2.0.3.1. The statement is also executed successfully on the 10g R1 instance if the table is not version-enabled.
    Any help on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I would recommend filing a TAR in this one. The only ora-22813 error involving workspace manager and geometry columns that I know about involves queries that need to sort data for which the size of the geometry column was >30k. Does the execution plan for the delete statement involve any kind of sort? However, this is an old 9.2 bug, that I believe was fixed for all 10.1 and newer releases.
    Does the same error happen if you do not use the subquery?
    Regards,
    Ben

  • Ora-03114 error when using trigger on spatial field

    I have a table the has a lat and long field and an geometry field. I want to place a trigger so that as the users insert lat and long into the table it also populates those values into the geometry field. I built a trigger that is supposed to do this. Upon insert I get an ora-03114 error. I can run the same piece of pl/sql as a plain update statement. How do I solve this problem.
    the DB is 9.0.1.2 and is stuck thier because of some 3rd party tools.
    Aaron

    Hi,
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
    Cause: A call to Oracle was attempted when no connection was established. Usually this happens because a user-written program has not logged on. It may happen if communication trouble causes a disconnection. In addition, this message could occur when ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION or ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION were issued with the IMMEDIATE qualifier because, in those cases, the client's connection to the database is terminated without waiting for the client to issue a request.
    Check your client connection settings, your driver etc.
    regards, Andreas

  • Significant performance change in spatial join

    Hi,
    I have 2 spatial tables in Oracle 10g: one (PT_SOURCE) has a point column with over a half million records and another (TRJ_TMP_BUF) has a polygon column with 2 records. 2 spatial R-tree indexes were built on the 2 table respectively. I tried a spatial join to see how many points fall into one polygon. The SQL statement is:
    SELECT a.id, d.name FROM pt_source a, trj_tmp_buf b, TABLE (SDO_JOIN('PT_SOURCE', 'SHAPE', 'TRJ_TMP_BUF', 'SHAPE', 'mask=ANYINTERACT')) c, pollution_source d WHERE c.rowid1 = a.rowid AND c.rowid2 = b.rowid and d.id=a.id
    The first a couple of run of the query took about 2 and a half hours to complete. 2 days after I tried the same query again. It only took about 2 minutes to complete! I'm pretty sure that the workload of the server was in the same level as in the first run. I'm wondering if there is something going on with the spatial indexes that may cause such significant improvement.
    BTW, I imported the same data set into another server that is configured similarly and runs another instance of Oracle 10g. All the spatial indexes were built. This time the same query took about 2 hours to complete. Does any body have any explanation about this? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Dan,
    I'm sorry that I made a mistake in the file names. The second trace file is for the database that is faster.
    I set a less file size for the second trace file. That might be why its space was limited. I ran the query again and set the file size to 5 MB (the same as for the first trace file). The newly generated trace file for the faster database is as following:
