Interesting that your status for the PP0DEV groups is CONNECTED ... using NFS or iSCSI? I typically see MOUNTED.
What is your definition for DB_RECOVERY_DEST, DB_RECOVERY_DEST_SIZE. The error stated that you had exhausted space, but if I read this correctly, I see 144857M (144G) in your ARCHGROUP1, make sure your DEST_SIZE is 900G (TOTAL_MB for the ARCHIVE group)

ORA-12154 occurs when client requests a connection to some DB server system using some connection string.
The lookup operation fails because the name provided can NOT be resolved to any remote DB.
The analogous operation would be when you wanted to call somebody, but could not find their name in any phonebook.
The most frequent cause for the ORA-12154 error is when the connection alias can not be found in tnsnames.ora.
The lookup operation of the alias can be impacted by the contents of the sqlnet.ora file; specifically DOMAIN entry.

Why I got this error? Every memeber had enough space and 1 even 52gb...
I had to had the disk asm212 at the DATA diskgroup. Then I was able to add the datafile.

    Hello;
The "diskgroup space exhausted" is key.
Try creating smaller files or adding disk space.

  • Create space in ASM Instance

    Dear All,
Here is the configuration we have:
Primary Database: Oracle RAC (2 Nodes). 11g R1 RAC, 10g R2 Database using ASM (OS: Windows Server 2003)
Data Guard: 10g R2 Database using ASM (OS: Windows Server 2003)
We are getting the following errors in the alert log file of ASM Instance (Data Guard) - Data Gaurd mode is 'Max Performance':
ORA-00270: error creating archive log +DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB/accelastdby/primary_arch_logs/arc32471_0721252017.002

    ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
Uopn checking the disk group DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB, free space is 0.
What are the possible options to create more space on this disk group? Can we delete some files safely without any impact (for example: Archive logs which have been applied to database)?
    Thanks for your advice.
    Regards,
    Muhammad Riaz

    Hi,
First you can add more disks to the diskgroup so you can get more space, ASM will do rebalance once new disks added.
Second, It seems that your archivelog in dataguard were not deleted after being applied. You can delete the applied archivelog in dataguard, use RMAN is the best option
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Unable to extend table in tablespace

    Hi,
I have a Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production With the Real Application Clusters option.
I'm receiving the unable to extend table T_DATA in tablespace USER
    I'm using ASM.

It seems I still have 2 datafile that can grow (maximium size is 63,999969482421875)
This is the situation of DATA group (the one to which USER tablespace belongs):
    Group # | Name | Free_mb | Usable_file_mb | total_mb

And this is the situation of every device belonging to DATA diskgroup:

    Why table cannot extend??
    And more:
if I try to add a datafile to USER tablespace, I got:

    ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
    01119. 00000 - "error in creating database file '%s'"
    Any suggestion??
    thanks in advance,
    Samuel

OK, but what does FREE_MB mean?
    Is it the unallocated space?
Is it possible that this disk:
    path | disk_number | group_name | group_number | header_status| free_mb | os_mb | total_mb
    /dev/asm12 10 DATA 2 MEMBER 0 5115 5115
    is causing the error?
Does it make sense to try to remove it from the diskgroup? I should have more than enough space on other disks of the DATA diskgroup.

  • Error while duplicate

While we were running duplicate, one of the Disk group ran out of space. But the restore continued with other datafiles.
Later we did manual recovery to bring the db up.
channel d5: ORA-19870: error while restoring backup piece <backup piece name>
ORA-19504: failed to create file "+DATA5"
    ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +DATA5
    ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
But we recovered the database with those 6 missing datafiles by creating CF without those 6 data files.
After checking the datafiles, there are some datafiles named as MISSING and which are pointing to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory.
The DB is up and running.
How do i fix this ?

In your case, the recovery errored outNo, the recovery was completed without the example01.dbf file
in my case, the recovery went on fineit actually did error on the restore but you chose to ignore the error and then went on the exclude the datafiles from the controlfile
Is there a way to find map the table to a datafileNormally, DBA_EXTENTS could have been queried to identify the datafiles which contain the extents for a table. However, I doubt if you will be able to do so if the tablespace is locally managed.

  • How can validate the ASM size and free space correctly?

    Dears ,,
I faced problem in ASM size as it appeared in alert file as below
ORA-19504: failed to create file "+DG_DATA"
    ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +DG_DATA
    ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
So we resize ASM space and large it. But we faced the same problem also although there is free space in ASM.
It seems that the shown free space is not real.
How can validate the ASM size and free space correctly?
    Thanks & Regards,,

I was having this problem. Im my case i couldn add datafiles to a tablespace despite the fact that i was having a lot of space in the asm. Try rebalancing. It might help. In my case rebalancing also didn work because it seems that there need to be a threshold space in all the disks for the rebalancing to happen which was not in my case, so i had to shrink some unused space in the tablespace and then after gaining the required space I rebalanced the disk and then the disks got rebalanced, also i was able to use the free space that was showing .

Q2. the directory I manually created with " N " sign on it under sys column, while dbca created dir had a " Y" sign, what is step to restore db to asm storage?
    Thanks.

'N' means these are user-created, but not system-generated ASM entries. Normally that happens when directories are created via 'alter diskgroup add directory ...' or mkdir statement inside asmcmd. User-created entries are aliases and ASM cannot resolve filenames to system names like '+DATA/tester/datafile/system.260.662163575'. Exactly that RMAN wants to do. Because you lost all your metadata you have to recreate your whole ASM environment (by the way 11g makes it possible to backup the metadata itself, which makes restore/recovery much easier). Follow the instructions from this metalink note:

  • How to query the status of disk groups in specific time?

    Dears,
While trying connect to database , i faced ORA-00257:archiver error. Connect internal only, until freed.
Also found in alert file ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
And found in ASM alert file WARNING: allocation failure on disk DG_DATA_0002 for file 357 xnum 2147483648
I expected from above errors that the problem in ASM Disk groups or in file system space.
After checking, found every thing is fine and OK as i have much free space.
And when i tried after some time to connect to database, it connected successfully without errors.
It means that the problem not in space, may be the status of disk groups became invalid for some time
Appreciate your advise. And how can i know the status of disk groups in specific time?
    Thanks & Regards,,

    Hi All,
We got another idea to create new template and use it as "Current Default Workbook".
Then it is showing latest date as we changed one of the Text element from "Display Status of Data" to "Display status of Data To".
But the this change is showing to my user id only but not to the other users.
We are selecting the tick mark for "Global Default Workbook", but this tick mark is going away after each refresh. I think if this tick mark is holds permanently, my problem will solve.
Please suggest me if you have any ideas to resolve this issue....

  • Resizing the tablespace

    Hi all,
I have ran out of space in the asm so couldn't add the datafiles to a tablesapce so I tried to resize the tablespace which has got unused space so that I can use the gained space to add datafile when I tried to do that I am getting the following error. What can I do

    Similarly :

What other files do you have in the DiskGroup ? What is the total size of the files ? How large is the DiskGroup ?
Hemant K Chitaleactually i am trying to shrink data11 tablespace
    TABLESPACE_NAME SUM(MAXBYTES)/1024/1024/1024 SUM(USER_BYTES)/1024/1024/1024 SUM(BYTES)/1024/1024/1024

This is the status of the tablespace, See out of 255gb alloted for it only 22gb is used. So I thought of shrinking it and use the gained space through shrink to add datafile to another tablespace. on trying this i got the mentioned error. also now i checked the asm space it shows that 99gb is free. Is re balancing problem causing this ORA-15041.

It will be good if you assign space to standby system immediatly and apply redo recovery in standby.
