Error: RMAN-06059 (RMAN-6059)
Text: expected archived log not found, lost of archived log compromises
recoverability
Cause: The archived log was not found. The repository thinks it does
exist. If the archived log has in fact been lost and there is no
backup, then the database is no longer recoverable across the
point in time covered by the archived log. This may occur because
the archived log was removed by an outside utility without
updating the repository.
Action: If the archived log has been removed with an outside utility and
the archivelog has already been backed up, then you can
synchronize the repository by running CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL.
If the archivelog has not been previously backed up, then you
should take a full backup of the database and archivelogs to
preserve recoverability. Previous backups are not fully
recoverable. -
恢复报错ORA-01139
从oracle 10g RAC (操作系统Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux AS release 4 64bit),数据库版本10.2.0.4环境中将数据备份恢复到相同环境的异机。

在做完不完全恢复时。

Actually i did TPITR and have to open database with resetlogoption recovery was successful but while opening received this error.
Database dismounted.

I dont know from where recovery catalog is getting the information in bold.
I have crosschecked and deleted archives and resynced the catalog several times. Immediatly after doing that the backup works fine, but the other day its the same thing all over again.
Can some one tell me from where the catalog is getting this wrong infomation about archivelogs???

How to configure two separate channels

I'm working with a two nodes RAC using 9.2.0.8 Enterprise edition.
I want to configure the archivelog backup:

The error is because can't found the archivelog of second node on the first node.

RMAN can allocate channels to instances it is connected to. For a RAC database, you can connect to the grid TNS alias, which points to all instances. You can then set up parallelism for the device type, and the load will be spread across the RAC instances.
You need to make sure that the password file exists for each instance, and that the user you're connecting as from RMAN has sysdba privileges.

Restore Database to non-ASM Storage - Issue with Bigfile Tablespace
I have been testing a restore of my prod database that uses ASM (and oracle managed files) for storage to a different server and non-ASM storage. Oracle version is 10g EE. My database has one bigfile tablespace and it's datafile is about 250GB. The restore fails and it has something to do with the bigfile tablespace.
Here is the rman restore script:

Why at the beginning is it "creating" datafile 11? Then it doesnt even say it is "restoring" that datafile. Only restoring datafiles 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,15, and 16.
When it creates datafile 11 it is only 26GB, that is much smaller than it should be according to v$datafile view on source prod database. Also even though it says it is creating datafile 11 as /ora02/db/ehr/apollolob01.dbf it actually creates it as an oracle managed file at /ora02/db/ehr/EHR/datafile/o1_mf_apollolo_6crxyqs2_.dbf
After the datafiles are restored the "switch datafile all" command fails:

So my question is how do I get this database restored to non-ASM (and non omf)?So I tried using a different scn with my "set until scn #####" then the restore created 2 datafiles. The datafile for apollolob and apollotab02.dbf. So I think I have narrowed the problem to be that I am not using the correct scn number so RMAN can successfully restore those datafiles and recreates them instead. How do I find the correct scn to use to do a successful restore of the entire database? I have seen different methods on the web, but cant figure it out. Ive used "select archivelog_change#-1 from v$database;" and I also did "list backup of archivelog all" and used the latest sequence number. How can I find the correct scn to use so the entire database will restore?

Recover database on the other host
I have to recover my database on the other host.
In my source machine(redhat5,x86_64) I installed oracle 10g (10.2.0.1), sid=orapro, archive_mode=on, flash_area_recovery=default.
RMAN - AUTOBACKUP=ON, CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F';
In new host (zlinux) I install oracle 10g (10.2.0.2.0). I has used DBCA and create a new database, with the same SID=orapro, archive_mode=on, flash_area_recovery=default.

I sent the backupset and autobackup files from source machine to new host.
And alter the name of server parameter file 'spfileorapro.ora' on new host for 'spfileorapro-1.ora'.

Hi,
We recently had a DBA here on a contract who did some work setting up backups and restores.
Unfortunately he is no longer here, and I have tried to perform a backup through OEM in his absence. The database was created by the DBA by copying the database from my development machine to a db server. On my machine some archive log files were in a directory:
C:\APP\RM\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\RONNIE\ARCHIVELOG
but on the server they are in the directory:
C:\APP\CS\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\RONNIE\ARCHIVELOG
When I am trying to run a backup from OEM, it is failing. Below is the output log. Can anyone advise?

Hello, all,
I am using the Oracle 10g on a linux server which runs redhat 9. I want to backup the whole database to the disk, but not the flash recovery area. It is /rawdata. I will show how I configure the backup part in EM. Is there anything wrong?
1. the ARCHIVELOG is on
2. under Administration, in the All Initialization Parameters, I remove the string value of “log_archive_dest_1”. After that, I go to the SPFile and remove the string value of “log_archive_dest_1”
3. configure backup settings and policies. The Disk Backup Location field is set to /rawdata. Select Image Copy for Disk Backup type. Test Disk backup is successful.
4. go to Policy page. Select “Automatically backup the control file and server parameter file (SPFile) with every backup and database structural change.) input /rawdata into the filed: Autobackup Disk Location
Select “Optimize the whole database backup by skipping unchanged files such as read-only and offline datafiles that have been backed up”
Select “Retain backups that are necessary for a recovery to any time whin the specified number of days (point-in-time recovery)
Accept the default of 31days
5. go to Schedul Backup
6. select customized from the backup Strategy drop-down menu. Select the Whole Database
7. in the Options page, select “Full backup” in the Backup Type section. Select “Online Backup” in the Backup Mode section. Select “back up all archived logs on disk” in the Advanced section.
8. in the Setting page, select “Disk”
9. in the Schedule page, accept the default job name and description. Select Immediately to execute the job immediately.
10. just submit the job.
After several minutes, the job is failed while the Prebackup and Postbackup are succeeded. The log says:

Qianthe string value in the field of 'log_archive_dest_1" under "All Initialization parameters" is "LOCATION=+DATADG/orcl10g/". The same value was in the field under SPFile.

During the inc0/1 backups I need to run additional archivelog backups.
Otherwise the FRA is filled up. But then the the last part of the inc0/1 backup - the archivelog part - fails:

DanielOK in fact you need space (the simplest would be to increase the size of the FRA). You could do explicitly what the "plus archivelog" does in your other script and remove it from this script.
If you want to save space in the FRA you could :
- direct the backups in another directory (e.g format '/other_folder/INC1_%d_%s_%t_%p)
- compress the backups with the "as compressed backupset" option
If it's not enough you could evaluate another strategy adapted for the big databases. For example incrementally updated backups to keep only one copy of the datafiles + the incremental backups + the archivelog files (I suppose now you have at least 2 full backups in your FRA ?) -

I have a problem with RMAN.
Platform: Window 2000 server
Oracle: 9ir2 EE
SPFILE:
1. LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1='LOCATION=E:\oracle\oradata\O9iR2\archive MANDATORY REOPEN=60' SCOPE=BOTH;
2. LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2='LOCATION=E:\oracle\oradata\O9iR2\archive2 OPTIONAL REOPEN=60' SCOPE=BOTH;
RMAN script:
run
ALLOCATE CHANNEL bck2disk1 DEVICE TYPE DISK MaxPieceSize 2G;
BACKUP DATABASE;
Backup archivelog all delete input;
Release Channel bck2disk1;
When I ran the rman script and I got error below:

There is a archive log,LOG1_288.ARC, which archived 2 days ago and I have backup and removed already.
If I don't remove archive log, RMAN would backup archive log twice(this time and next time).
I know I can use "crosscheck archivelog all;" to solve this problem.
But I don't understand why it happen.
Someone who can tell me why?

Yes, I removed archive logs manually after backup.
Because RMAN only delete one of multiplexing archive log destinations.
When RMAN backup archive log, it only backup logs from one of log_archive_dest_n and just delete logs where it backup from.
I need to delete other archive logs after RMAN backup.
Because it was not delete all archive logs,
Next time, RMAN still looked for archive log that have backuped last time and error occured.
My confusion is why "delete input" in RMAN only delete logs from one of log_archive_dest_n not all of log_archive_dest_n.
And why RMAN backup archive logs which have backuped last time?
