• Problems deploying ear file created with ant build script

Hi All,
I'm using Jdeveloper 11G and Weblogic 10.3. When I build my application and run it within Jdeveloper, it works fine. However, we have a requirement to run ANT build script and create a deployable .ear file that can be manually deployed to any Weblogic Server.
I created my ant build script and it compiles/builds fine - the .ear file looks good. However, when I attempt to deploy it, it fails with
javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet for servlet Faces Servlet could not be loaded because the requested class was not found in the classpath .
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet.

I am not sure how to tell weblogic where to find the classes needed. I have a pretty huge classpath used when compiling - should I be putting the classpath in the manifest (?) - I don't think I should need to include the .jar files manually in the .ear file - since all the libraries should already be available in weblogic - or is that a misconception?
Please help!!

I answered my own question -
I had to manually add the following to the WEB-INF/lib to get the error to go away:
${ORACLE_HOME}/modules/javax.jsf_1.1.0.0_1-2.jar and
${ORACLE_HOME}/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jsf_1.2.9/glassfish.jsf_1.0.0.0_1-2-15.jar and
${ORACLE_HOME}/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jsf_1.2.9/glassfish.jstl_1.2.0.1.jar
that solved my problem. However, I think it'd be great if I could somehow just specify (in the weblogic-application.xml maybe?) that my application is using the above modules without having to copy the jar files into my WEB-INF/lib - any suggestions?
Thanks

• ANT Build Mystery

I have a fairly large ANT build of BPEL processes submitted via Cruise Control to an installed Solaris BPEL 10.1.2 server, An excerpt of the ANT build is shown below:
bq. {color:#0000ff}<echo message="Building ${infra.dir}/SerializedCall"/> \\ <exec dir="${infra.dir}/SerializedCall" executable="${bpel.unix.script}" append="true" output="${jar.target}/builder.log" /> \\ <echo message="Building ${infra.dir}/TaskManager"/> \\ <exec dir="${infra.dir}/TaskManager" executable="${bpel.unix.script}" append="true" output="${jar.target}/builder.log" /> \\ <echo message="Building ${infra.dir}/TaskCallback"/> \\ <exec dir="${infra.dir}/TaskCallback" executable="${bpel.unix.script}" append="true" output="${jar.target}/builder.log" /> \\ <echo message="Building ${infra.dir}/ADMIN_FakeTaskComplete"/> \\ <exec dir="${infra.dir}/ADMIN_FakeTaskComplete" executable="${bpel.unix.script}" append="true" output="${jar.target}/builder.log" /> \\ {color}
My problem is with the TaskCallback process. On occasion it fails because it invalidates the preceeding TaskManager's wsdl which it references. An excerpt of a builder.log of one of the failed runs is shown below:
bq. {color:#0000ff}Stage 1 \\ Stage 2 \\ Stage 3 \\ Stage 4 Ant Args: -Dhome=/prod/oracle/OraHome_1/integration/orabpel -Dplatform=ias_10g -Dapps=/prod/oracle/OraHome_1/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/applications \\ Buildfile: build.xml \\ main: \\ echo Building INFRA_TaskCallback Revision:1.0 Deployed:infra \\ mkdir Created dir: /prod/cruisecontrol/projects/o2c/build_o2c/bpel/infra/src/TaskCallback/output \\ bpelc BPEL validation failed. \\ bpelc BPEL source validation failed, the errors are: \\ bpelc \\ bpelc [Error ORABPEL-10903|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/]: failed to read wsdl \\ bpelc Description: in "bpel.xml", Failed to read wsdl. \\ bpelc {color:#ff0000}Failed to read wsdl at "http://localhost:9700/orabpel/infra/INFRA_TaskManager/1.3/INFRA_TaskManager?wsdl", because "WSDLException: faultCode=INVALID_WSDL: The document: [http://localhost:9700/orabpel/infra/INFRA_TaskManager/1.3/INFRA_TaskManager?wsdl] is not a wsdl file or does not have a root element of "definitions" in the "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" namespace or the "http://www.w3.org/2004/08/wsdl" namespace.".{color} \\ bpelc Make sure wsdl is valid. There are two other processes including the ADMIN_FakeTaskComplete process (which follows the failing build) that reference the same wsdl and they deploy on the Solaris build system without an error in the same ANT run.
It appears that if I deploy TaskCallback from my development machine using JDeveloper to the Solaris build system BPEL server that the next Cruise Control build will also work. I have never had an error when deploying from JDeveloper. However, I also have to say that it appears that a simple resubmission of the ANT build might work - though rarely. I have no idea why it is failing to validate the wsdl. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Am I dealing with a timing issue where the build BPEL server needs some time before I submit the next build?

Evidently my timing guess is correct. I added a <sleep seconds="10"/> after building the INFRA_TaskManager and before building the next process which would reference its wsd. It has built ever since.

• What is the differences between Ant build jar and eclipse export jar ?

I have tried the eclipse export method to generate a jar file, however, it doesn't work with my server. But when I write a ant build file to create jar file. It works!!
Does any buddies know why?

Difference betwen JAR AND WAR
.jar files: These files are with the .jar extension. The .jar files contain the libraries, resources and accessories files like property files.
.war files: These files are with the .war extension. The war file contains the web application that can be deployed on the any servlet/jsp container. The .war file contains jsp, html, javascript and other files for necessary for the development of web applications.

http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=485823&messageID=2273976
The main difference between a JAR and a WAR is that a JAR is not really a single purpose format, while a WAR is. With a JAR file, you can package lots of different things. Usually you package up Java classes, but you could put pretty much anything into a JAR file, and you can create JARs that have whatever files and directory formats you want. For instance, Oracle (at least in 8.1.x) actually uses JAR files to distribute the Oracle software on the install CDs, and IBM uses them to distribute an installable version of the documentation for WebSphere. Technically you can put JSP pages, HTML pages, servlet classes, etc. in a JAR, but you generally don't -- you use a WAR.
WAR files are JAR files with a specific format. This format is defined in the servlet spec (which you can look at on the java.sun.com site). Essentially, the WAR file is a standard format for web applications that has specific directories and specific files. This includes a WEB-INF directory, a WEB-INF/web.xml file used to describe the application, a WEB-INF/lib directory for JAR files used by the application, and a WEB-INF/classes directory for class files that aren't distributed in a JAR. You would put the pages (JSPs and HTML) in the WAR as well. Then, you can distribute your application as one file, instead of as a collection of images, HTML pages, and Java classes.

Hi,
I have created a basic WebCenter Portal Application in jdeveloper. I want to create a war file of this application using ant build script.
Created a build.xml file using the "Buildfile from project" option from the New Gallery option.
Can anyone help me to code the portion in the build.xml file, where I can create a war file...
Currently the bild.xml file has all the libraries reffered in it and also the following code

After creating the build.xml file as mentioned above for my WebCenter Portal application, When I try to run the login.jspx page, it is unseccessful . It throws me an error
[10:53:44 AM] #### Deployment incomplete. ####
[10:53:44 AM] Remote deployment failed (oracle.jdevimpl.deploy.common.Jsr88RemoteDeployer)
#### Cannot run application TestBuildApplication due to error deploying to IntegratedWebLogicServer.
[Application TestBuildApplication stopped and undeployed from Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer]
Created another sample WebCenter Portal application without selecting Ant in project technologies and then when I run the login.jspx of that application, it was success. The page opened properly.
What can be the issue for this?

• Ant build script for WebLogic Portal 10.3 projects

Hi Friends,
I am going thru this document http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wlw/docs103/guide/ideuserguide/build/conUseCustomAntBuild.html#metadata about building ant script for my portal project. The document does not state few things clearly. Can you please help me to understand.
It says:
To Build an EAR File Using the Ant Script:
1. Generate the Ant script for each project in the EAR.
2. Generate the Ant script for the EAR project.
3. Configure the execution environment of your shell by executing wl.home/common/bin/commEnv.sh
4. Change to the Eclipse directory for the EAR project.
5. Execute the desired target in the EAR project's Ant script as follows:
ant build archive -Dworkspace=workspacepath
A) When I generate ant script, workshop generates build.xml file in each project directory and that includes EAR project as well. Then, point 2 is not clear, how do I generate another ant script (build.xml) for the EAR project?
B) I do not understand, "change to the eclipse directory for the EAR project". Does it mean, change to the directory of EAR project folder which has build.xml?
C) in step-5, execute the desired target, when I execute it, how it will know where are other build.xml files for other projects?
Regards,
JT

Hi Greg,
I moved little bit but then got stuck with new kind of error.
a. First of all, my application has a 'data' project (.usr) file. When I try to generate ant scripts (build.xml), it says that 'data' project is not compatible with Workshop ant scripts. However, Workshop inbuilt EXPORT->EAR is able to build the projects without any error.
b. So, I thought, let's put a dummy build.xml file under 'data' project directory. This let ant build to proceed further. However, now it fails with error that <web project>/build.xml (line no. 122). Which is nothing but memory declaration (memoryMaximumSize="1024m"). The error says, 'unable to launch apt compiler', I am not able to understand what is it? The other projects' (ejb, controls etc.) build.xml has this declaration but they did not give this error, they built fine.
<web project>/build.xml
<target name="build" depends="init" description="compiles the source files; does not package the results">
<if>
<isreference refid="apt.factory.path"/>
<then>
<mkdir dir="${apt.src.output.dir}"/>
<for-each-java-src-path>
<if>
<available file="${.java.src.dir}"/>
<then>
<mkdir dir="${.java.src.output}"/>
<apt
sourcepath="${java.sourcepath}"
srcdir="${.java.src.dir}"
includes="${.java.src.include}"
excludes="${.java.src.exclude}"
destdir="${.java.src.output}"
preprocessdir="${apt.src.output.dir}"
classpathref="java.classpath"
factorypathref="apt.factory.path"
options="${apt.options}"
compile="false"
memoryMaximumSize="1024m"/>
</then>
</if>
</for-each-java-src-path>
</then>
</if>

• Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.2.0) (Build 6183)Installations

I clicked the Studio Edition:11.1.2.2.0 Windows Install Download File button from the Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.2.0) (Build 6183)Installations page. After that I clicked Save and a window displayed with the % complete. It goes to 99% complete and 1 sec left and this seems to hang at that point. I've left it going for several minutes and then eventually cancelled it. I have the correct jdk version. Any suggestions?

You mean the download hangs at 99%?
That its usually the point when your virus checker starts its work. Some such programs are known to have trouble with large archive files containing many files.
Try to download with three virus checker turned off.

• Java.lang.NullPointerException with Ant build, only in 4.7

Hi,
I hope some one out there can help.
I have a large project that uses Ant for release builds, that must be "Run in the same JRE as workspace"
This has always been fine in fb4.5 and 4.6 but in 4.7 fb.exportReleaseBuild gives us a java.lang.NullPointerException.
I can just load the project up in 4.6 and build it for now, but as you can't get 4.6 any more this isn't a long term solution.
I can reproduce the issue in 4.7 on two boxes in either by doing the following:
Create a new flex project called "buildTest",
Add a build folder,
Create a new file named build.xml (in the build folder)
Put the following in the build file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<project default="default" basedir="../">
<!-- target: default -->
<target name="default">
<fb.exportReleaseBuild project="BuildTest"/>
</target>
</project>
Right click on the build file,
Run as -> Ant Build... -> JRE (tab) -> select "Run in the same JRE as the workspace" -> Click "Run"
If you do this in 4.6 (on either of my boxes) it works fine. if you do it in 4.7 (again on either box) you get the following error:
BUILD FAILED
C:\Users\germanD1\Documents\Projects\test Projects\Ant Test\BuildTest\build\build.xml:6: java.lang.NullPointerException
You can even create it and watch it fail in 4.7 then open the same proj in 4.6 and watch it work!!!
I hope someone can help, this is driving me mad.

• ANT Build Module Project

I have a project that has multiple modules, as well as a couple of external libraries that we use. I'm trying to use sdk 4.1 and ANT builder to get the same build that I get with Flex Builder.
I can build the applicaiton, css, and modules, but I have not figured out how to take the existing swc's and compile them into a swf. It appears compc compiles a library project, but I don't see anything that compiles a library to a swf.
Also, when I use ANT, the module is larger in size, and all the modules are smaller. Is there any way to export the build and make sure I'm getting the same thing?
Thanks.

the mxmlc utility and Ant class will compile into SWF.
Inside FB, you can specify optimization of modules for a specific core application. This means that any class referenced in the core is omited from the modules (because the modules can get the class definition from the core at runtime).
For the command-line compilers and ANT, you have to supply the list of classes to omit. The SWF compiler will generate this exact list, so it is mostly a matter of pointing the module compilation at the output of the core SWF compilation.
Check out http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=anttasks_1.html and

• Can i avoid needing to manually enumerate all TestCases in a TestRunner for an ant build?

flexunit gurus,
i've been experimenting with the FlexUnit4SampleCIProject as part of following the instructions for ant builds at http://docs.flexunit.org/index.php?title=Ant_Task
this sample project utilizes a TestRunner.mxml file that manually enumerates every TestCase that should be run as part of the tests. e.g. after i modified TestRunner.mxml to test my locally developed classes, a snippet looks like this:
var core : FlexUnitCore = new FlexUnitCore();
core.run(MathUtilTest, StringUtilTest);
the ant build then invokes that TestRunner as part of the build:
<!-- Execute TestRunner.swf as FlexUnit tests and publish reports -->
<flexunit swf="${bin.loc}/TestRunner.swf"
toDir="${report.loc}"
haltonfailure="false"
headless="false"
verbose="true"
localTrusted="true" />
the associated maven build for this project does not require a TestRunner.mxml. the following snippets from the configuration of the flexmojos plugin in the pom.xml allows for the TestCases to be run without needing to manually enumerate them ahead of time::
<includeTestFiles>
<includeTestFile>*Test.as</includeTestFile>
</includeTestFiles>
Flash Builder 4 now supports a model like flexmojos - I can simply right click a project or folder and select Execute FlexUnit Tests and all the tests are run, without needing a TestRunner.mxml. Flash Builder appears to accomplish this by dynamically generating (and then compiling and executing) 2 mxml files based on the FlexUnit tests found in the project/folder. In Flex Builder 3 days, I had to manually maintain a TestRunner.mxml, which was error prone and cumbersome.
my question is whether there is support in an ant build for running all *Test.as files without needing an associated TestRunner.mxml. if so, could you post an example on how to accomplish this? i suppose i could create a custom ant task that dynamically generates a mxml file after searching the file system for *Test.as files (similar to what Flash Builder 4 does), but since this seems like such a common need i'm hoping it is (or can be) provided as part of FlexUnit's ant tasks.
thanks.
-mike

they aren't there yet, but...
if you want to have a little fun, this code is already in our github master
<flexunit workingDir="${bin.loc}" toDir="${report.loc}"
haltonfailure="false" verbose="true" localTrusted="true">
<testSource dir="${main.src.loc}" />
<testSource dir="${test.src.loc}">
<include name="**/*Test.as" />
</testSource>
<library dir="${lib.loc}" />
</flexunit>
documentation and being 'official' are not far off, but due to some logisitcs I can't give you a firm date just yet,

• Adf-loc.jar? - How to generate in ANT builds

Hi,
I've noticed that when packaging my app through JDeveloper, it automatically generates this "adf-loc.jar" in the correct location.
a) What is this Jar? What is it used for?
b) How do I generate it through my ANT build script?
I've notice that it throws an error during deployment on my server, if this jar is not there.
My current work around is to grab a copy of the jar from the JDev package then manually packaging it into my ANT build.
Surely there is a better way of doing this?
Thanks

It turns out that this adf-loc.jar is simply an empty jar with a manifest which points to the adf directory of the WAR.
To automate this build, I ran
<jar destfile="adf-loc.jar">
<manifest>
<attribute name="Class-Path" value="../adf"/>
</manifest>
</jar>
Then, I packaged it into the WAR appropriately:
<zipfileset file="adf-loc.jar" prefix="lib"/>

I tried using a lower JDK 1.5.x - but that failed as well (complaining that 1.6 was needed).
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Have you find a solution for this problem?
I have exactly the same one. I must build my web-services with some dependence compiled on java 1.6 so I need to use the APT task with a java 1.6 but the problem "Apt task requires Java 1.5+" appear.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
