Oracle 11g and iSeries ODBC 32/64bit version???
Hi folks,
I've some questions....
I need setup a new server with Oracle db 11g and from this db i need setup a DBLINK to an IBM iSeries (AS/400) server. I've some doubts about the 32/64 bit version to use.
My idea is:
Oracle Linux 64bit
Oracle Database 11g 64bit
Oracle Gateway 11g 64bit
IBM i Access ODBC driver 64bit ( maybe 7.1 version?!?!?!)
Do you think I'll be able to achieve my goal with this configuration?
Else where can you suggest me a valid and wonrking configuration?
Thank you very much!!!!
bye byeEmilio,
That combination of products should work, as long as the ODBC driver is 64-bit and satisfies the ODBC driver criteria listed in the documentation.
If you have access to My Oracle Support have a look at this note -

Oracle 11g for Oracle access manager, OID version details
At present we have 1og db for sso and oid. I have checking in db that our exsisting OID and SSO versions are
Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On 10.1.2.0.2
Oracle9iAS Internet Directory
OID 10.1.2.1.0
We are moving to diff hosting solution and vendor is recommanding to have 11g Oracle access manager(in 11g sso is replaced by OAM) and OID.
What is the version of OID with 11g or please refer me to the documentaion where i can greb 11g OAM, oid etc versionsKapardhi wrote:

Can we run MiniSap in Windows7 Home Basic Edition(64 bit)
Hello I found a thread on this topic but no answer.
So my questions is as well: Can I run MiniSap on Windows7 Home Basic Edition(64 bit) when I install the loopback adapter to enable network capability of the Windows 7
Thank you very much for your answers.
Thomas MarklYou can find the official downloads on the SAP Developer Network (SDN). If you haven't got an account yet, you'll have to sign up for it. You'll also need the account for the free Mini SAP license renewals. The most recent NetWeaver versions currently available are NetWeaver 7.02 SP6 for 32 bit and NetWeaver 7.03 SP4 for 64 bit. The free download has a size of 3.8 GB (32 bit) or 3.9 GB (64 bit).

Hi,

MMUHans and I seem to be giving the same advice here.
The point I was trying to make was to be careful.
There are probably more important things to consider
rather than acting on the urge for the latest and
greatest technology piece.Yes. Perhaps different phrases meaning the same thing help a person understand better,.
After all, the biggest part of an upgrade process is 'understanding risk' and the biggest part of the DBAs job in production is 'mitigating risk'. For Risk Management, the more perspectives, the better.
That is really our job in a nutshell. And that may be why we often have challenges with developer's - their job is to get new capabilities and due to their time pressures they may not be looking at risks the same way. (Just look at how much exception handling the typical developer does.)

Can we install Oracle 10g on Vista Home Basic Edition
Hi,
Please suggest me weather Oracle 10g is suitable in Window Vista Home Basic OS
or should I replace it with window XPDear UG!
It depends on what you want to do with your Oracle database. If it's only for developing and testing purposes then you might use Windows XP or Windows Vista. I would personally suggest you to use Windows XP because you need a special version of Oracle 10g for Windows Vista but if you plan to deploy an Oracle application on MS Server 2008 with Vista clients then you should use Windows Vista.
I don't know if this is really helpful but I hope so.
Yours sincerely

Windows Vista Basic - 64bit Version
Hi,
My laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Basic - I have upgraded my memory to 4GB, however, due to the fact that I am running 32bit Windows Vista Basic, I cannot access all 4GB of memory (only 3GB). Is there a way to upgrade to 64bit Windows Vista? can I purchase a copy through Lenovo or do I have to purchase a copy off Microsoft (through the retail channels)?I was not aware home basic came with a 64 bit version. If you are thinking of going 64 bit, I would at least think about upgrading to Business. If Home Premium has 64, then that would be a fine version also. As for obtaining it, contact Lenovo and inquire about upgrading, then contact Microsoft and see who has the better offer. It may be tough to find a 64 bit version in store, but you can most certainly order it from one of the two.

Edited by: lam5158 on Sep 23, 2009 3:38 PMSorry, you are right and it's my fault. Thanks for the tip. I saw the versions listed when I did the install, but I didn't realize I needed to select any because I thought it would install automatically for whichever VS versions you had installed.
Thanks again! :) -

Excellent test case, may by you should raise an SR and hope it ends up as a bug.
What happens if you "ping box01.data.local" what IP Address do you get back? You should be looking to get back the loopback address.
What happens if you do a nslookup 192.168.30.64 and 192.168.1.100?
Have you tred setting ORACLE_HOSTNAME? Not sure if this is just for the installer or not. -

Do a system 'find' and locate 'em.ear'. What is the full path name to it? At acommand prompt, enter the following:
cd \
dir /s em.earcopy the entire session -- command and results, and paste back here.
Also, does the path to the installation files contain any spaces? Does the path to the installed ORACLE_HOME contain any spaces?
