Oracle agent password change- 11g

Hi All
During silent install of Oracle Grid Agent I put a wrong password for AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD
I need to reset the AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD to password of OMS Server 11g (11.1.0.1.0)
this is on Linux x86_64 bit
What are the steps thhat need to be followoed
Thanks

Hi,
To change an existing Agent Registration Password, use the following emctl command:
$PROMPT> emctl secure setpwd sysman_password new_Install_Password
Note that the emctl secure setpwd command requires that you provide the password of the Enterprise Manager super administrator user, sysman, to authorize the resetting of the Agent Registration Password.

I am running ICM 7.5 Enterprise. is there a web or any other interface which can be provided to Agents to change their pasword ?

vibin.v wrote:Any idea of the sql statement to update the password?  the ICM is anyway running  MSQL 2005
That's not a good idea. All ICM integrators and admin users should understand the basics of how configuration changes are made in ICM. This is a complex path in order to ensure that the key component, the duplexed Call Router has changed the in-memory copy of the configuration. Changing the database (which one were you thinking of - Logger, AW?) using SQL Query Analyzer or any other native method is more than likely to totally mess up your system.
Study this diagram (from the 8.0 Serviceability Guide)

  • ORACLE Password Change using APEX FORM

    Greetings!
I would like to find out, if there is a utility or a sample page that permits the Database password changes for the DB users within the Database. My goal is for users to maintain password using the Browser, instead of using SQL*Plus or similar Windows tools
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Muni

So if you and I can both authenticate to this application, we will necessarily have separate accounts, say in the Application Express account repository of that application's workspace. Our accounts will each have a password that is not synchronized with our database account password. The application will allow me (SCOTT) to change only the database account named SCOTT and will allow you (VIKAS) to change only the database account named VIKAS. That rule would make it unnecessary for the provided form to provide an input field for the database account name (it would be pre-populated). Unfortunately, the chosen authentication method requires each of us to remember our application password, and, if the application is built correctly, to remember our old database password as well. (Implementing that verification has its own issues.) If the application used LDAP then a mapping table would be needed to relate [email protected] to VIKAS. Every time a new database user needed the self-service password facility, a new user account (and a new password), and a new mapping table entry would have to be created. All of that complexity is eliminated if the application uses Database Account credentials authentication -- a new database user is created, the user can authenticate to the application and use it; the database user is removed, the user can no longer authenticate.
Let's not confuse the aim of providing a self-service "change my database password" application (the original requirement) with the simpler task of providing a super-user-oriented database account management page (like we did in XE).

  • Backup jobs and password changing problem

    Hi
I have created few rman job in my db (11.2) to backup database.
I my company i have to change all system passwords (os - oracle, system, syman, etc...) every 90 days.
When i changing password for user who created backup jobs, this jobs stop working.
I,ve got "Invalid username and/or passworderror writing input to command" error.
Of course after changing passords i always setup "Preferred Credentials" but that dosn't help.
What am i doing wrog? What am i missing ?
    Please advice.

If you use Preferred Credentials to authorize a Job, it will use the current credentials on the moment it is dispatched for execution.
This means that in case passwords changes, you just need to modify you preferred credentials
This is something you can do using EMCLI (command line interface) in a script for instance (or just use the GUI to modify)

  • Connect Problems with Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2

    Hello,
I am a student trying to install Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 and SQL Developer on my home system, Win7 64Bit, in order to practice some things I've learned from me DBA class and Developer classes.
Anyway, I have everything installed, but I am having difficulty connecting as SYS or SYSDBA in the 'Run SQL Command Line', I keep getting the ORA-01017: invalid username/password: logon denied.
However, If i select the 'Start Database' I get this:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin>
and I can type sqlplus / as sysdba and it starts up just fine and show user lists me as "SYS".
but if I go back to 'Run SQL Command Line' I still cannot connect as SYS or SYSDBA...I find this both confusing and frustrating. I don't know if I am in different instances or something like that, but I seem to be limited to connecting only as "SYSTEM". I need SYS because I want to practice creating datafiles, instances and things like that, but I seem to be lost.
Also, I am trying to create a new DB connection with SQL Developer and I can only us SYSTEM for my login which, if I understand correctly, will limit my privileges. Again When I try to sign in with SYS or SYSDBA I get error'd out. When I installed Ora11gDBExpress I was prompted in input a single password that was supposed to grant me access as SYS or SYSTEM, but I am limited to only SYSTEM for some reason.
So, I am looking for help/guidance as to what to do.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
    Warren

General rule of thumb, don't use sysdba unless you want to shut down the database, or grant a database user privileges on a sys object.
A SYSTEM connection is not "limiting", it has the DBA role which means a user with a system connection can do most anything needed, including select/update/delete/drop any user's objects as well as change parameters in the instance.
The system user can indeed add datafiles, tablespaces, etc. The instance and database should already be created as long as the installer completed all its chores correctly. For XE, per the license agreement only one instance can run on one host. If you want to try creating a database, it will require shutting down the XE instance and creating a new database service, creating the database, and installing the system catalog and any other optional components desired. Good practice indeed, but a bit advanced for the new user.
Do create users for schemas ... connect system; create user <username> identified by <password> and connect <username> for the schemas (a collection of objects) within the database. Grant the resource and create session privilege to <username> to allow the database user the ability to create tables, indexes, stored procedures, etc.
There is no "or" in a sys as sysdba connection, from 10g onwards a sys connection requires using the sysdba privilege. To enable a sysdba connection, add your host user to the ORA_DBA group on the host. To verify the OS users in the ORA_DBA group, this might work for win7, in a cmd box ...
    $ net localgroup ora_dba
...If your OS user is in the ora_dba group the sys as sysdba password is not relevant, you can in fact type anything for a password. If you wish to connect with the sysdba privilege from a remote client, that is a bit different and requires knowing the password set in the instance password file. Which should be set the same as the system password defined in the installer, but you can change that by creating a new password file. Another slightly advanced topic.
In Windows IMHO its better to leave the listener and database set to Manual start (in the services applet, Start/Run/services.msc) and start the listener, then the database, when its needed. At least for an XE instance, as its intended for practice and learning RDBMS management.

  • Enterprise manager Oracle Agent Unreachable

    Hello,
I have done a fresh install of Oracle 11Gr2 and everything was working fine. I imported a database.
When i connect trought the EM the Oracle Agent status is: unreachable.
But everything is working fine, i can connect to the database, i can use the EM, make changes, updates, everything.
I can't figure out what could be wrong, i already tryed to change the agent password, but the error remains.

Did you check the agent through GC Setup page (top right corner on any GC page, then click Agents)? Does it say anything there?
    You can always try:
    1. Stop the agent
    2. Do a clearstate (emctl clearstate agent)
    3. Clean the upload and state directories from agent home ($AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload/ and $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state/), remove these files too:
    $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
    $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
    $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
    $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/protocol.ini
    4. Secure the agent and start it again.

  • RBACx Encrypted Password Change Utility

    Hi all,
In the OIA/SRM installation guide, there is a reference to a tool, to find out the password of rbacxservice.
"Oracle Identity Analytics utilizes an encrypted password when communicating with the database.
To change the default database password, use the RBACx Encrypted Password Change Utility"
Could you please help me finding out this tool.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Warm regards,
    Manipradeep Sunku.

The mentioned tool only encrypts the password so that you don't have to store a plain text password in the config file. It does not decrypt it. The default rbacxservice password is rbacxservice.
The tool does not come with the OIA/SRM distribution so if you need it, you will need to contact support.

  • Database password change

    Hello,
Can someone point me in the right direction in regards to changing the OIM database password on 9.1.0.2?
We recently changed the password and I updated the xlconfig.xml file and updated two XML files located in the project domain using the method described in the below article:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/admin_ref/utils17.html
I copied the output generated and edited the <password-encrypted> node in the XML files.
We are running WebLogic 10.3.3, on 10g database, 9.1.0.2 BP14 installed.
OIM starts up though we get a System Error message but a refresh brings up the login page. After attempting to login the following error is recorded in our log files:
ERROR,14 Feb 2012 08:49:45,138,[XELLERATE.WEBAPP],Class/Method: tcLogonAction/execute encounter some problems: Error occurred during login - Exeption Code: DB_READ_FAILED
Thor.API.Exceptions.tcAPIException: Error occurred during login - Exeption Code: DB_READ_FAILED
I presume it has to do with the password change but I have changed every file that I am aware of. Have I missed a step or missed a file? Is there a preferred way to change the database password within WebLogic? The UI doesn't allow it due to the encryption and I don't want to turn that off to clear text.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

To change the database password, there are only a couple spots to update.
Within WebLogic, you'll want to update your JDBC resources with the new password on your two connections listed.
Then as you mentioned in the xlconfig.xml file, you'll find the sections for the DirectDB. Where the password is at, set the encrypted=false and provide the literal of your new password. Now when OIM starts, it will re-encrypt the xlconfig.xml file, so you can delete the one with plain text.

  • Difference in select for update of - in Oracle Database 10g and 11g

Hi, I found out that Oracle Database 10g and 11g treat the following PL/SQL block differently (I am using scott schema for convenience):
    DECLARE
      v_ename bonus.ename%TYPE;
    BEGIN
      SELECT b.ename
        INTO v_ename
        FROM bonus b
        JOIN emp e ON b.ename = e.ename
        JOIN dept d ON d.deptno = e.deptno
       WHERE b.ename = 'Scott'
         FOR UPDATE OF b.ename;
    END;
/While in 10g (10.2) this code ends successfully (well NO_DATA_FOUND exception is raised but that is expected), in 11g (11.2) it raises exception "column ambiguously defined". And that is definitely not expected. It seems like it does not take into account table alias because I found out that when I change the column in FOR UPDATE OF e.empno (also does not work) to e.mgr (which is unique) it starts working. So is this some error in 11g? Any thoughts?

It seems that my question was answered here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2736426/difference-in-select-for-update-of-in-oracle-database-10g-and-11g

The behaviour seems like it really is a bug and can be avoided using non-ANSI syntax. (It makes me wonder why Oracle maintains two query languages while dumb me thinks that this is just a preprocessor matter and query engine could be the same).
