Oracle application Navigator menu Sample
Hi guys
We are moving from client/server to Weblogic+Forms, Reports 11g. We are already using Oracle EBS R12 and our users are familiar with the Navigator menu and we would like provide the same style menu with our legacy applications, deployed through Weblogic Server.
How the navigator menu is developed? Which java bean is used to provide the collapsible navigator menu? If anybody has done such a menu, please provide me some pointers towards the same.
regards,
raj
Hi
There is also a trick u could use ...
1.Creating a display item in a canvas & draw other displaying items the way u want to display ur menu item in...
2.Then creating visual attributes the no u want coordinating with u display items
3.Finally using when mouse click trigger to show these items & and when mouse double click k to hide them using
set item instance built in Using a related property which is set to true to show item once and to false to hide such item...
If wasn't helpful i recommend playing with visual attributes to give the impression of f invisibility with gray color the same as canvas color i supposed in order to hide and any other color in order to show button or a display item once for each

Kiran AkkirajuScott
Application Express verion
Application Express 3.0.0.00.20
I am using my own Custom Function authentication which will check against eBusiness login Username and password.
When I intially access I get below URL
http://ortest.eatonsteel.com:8010/pls/htmldb/apps.xxapplication_express_pkg.Launch_103_Application
In this URL I was entering eBusiness User Login details and I press OK Button
Then it is redirecting to below URL
http://ortest.eatonsteel.com:8010/pls/htmldb/f?
and it throws below error
Expecting p_company or wwv_flow_company cookie to contain security group id of application owner.
Error ERR-7620 Could not determine workspace for application ().
OK
When I press OK button it is redirecting me to below URL again
http://ortest.eatonsteel.com:8010/pls/htmldb/apps.xxapplication_express_pkg.Launch_103_Application
In this URL again it shows login details. When I enter username and password this time it is logging into the Application correctly. And it redirecting to below URL
http://ortest.eatonsteel.com:8010/pls/htmldb/f?p=103:1:6916299608406263518
Initially when I am trying to access it will not connect.

Launch Discoverer 10g from Oracle Applications Menu
Please provide steps to launch Discoverer 10g from Oracle applications menu.
Thanks in advance.
sureshHi,
Follow these steps....
The process is in 3 stages _(stage 1 will be done only once for all the reports)._
Stage 1:
Set the application discoverer relevant parameters.
Perform this stage only once.
1.1 Enter the application in System Administrator responsibility.
1.2 Choose menu 'Profile' and then submenu 'System'.
1.3 Find the desired profile by filling 'Icx%Discoverer%' and press Find button.
1.4 Fill the fields (only the values) as described in the table of values bellow.
Parameter Value
ICX: Discoverer Default End User Layer Schema Prefix your eul name without the suffix (_US).
note that if you have several invs it can be diffrent between them.
ICX: Discoverer End User Layer Language Override American English
ICX: Discoverer Launcher http://your_server_name:7777/discoverer/viewer?Connect=[APPS_SECURE]
ICX: Discoverer Release 10 or any other that you are using
ICX: Discoverer Viewer Launcher http://your_server_name:7777/discoverer/viewer?Connect=[APPS_SECURE]
ICX: Discoverer use Viewer Yes (or not if you want plus to open - but change the viewer to plus in the link as well - the previos parameter)
Don't forget to press save button.
Stage 1 Ends.
Stage 2:
Build an oracle application function for each discoverer report.
Perform this stage for each report.
2.1 Enter the application in System Administrator responsibility.
2.2 Choose menu 'Application' and then submenu 'Function'.
2.3 Fill needed values in each tab by the next instructions (function values)
2.3.1 Description tab – fill the function, function user name and the description. Notice that the function value should be without spaces.
2.3.2 Properties tab – fill the:
Function with the same name you have choose in the previous tab,
Type with 'SSWA plsql function',
Maintenance Mode Support with 'None' (Default value),
Context Dependence with 'Responsibility' (Default value).
2.3.3 Form tab- fill the:
Function with the same name you have choose in the previous tab,
Form & Application fields leave empty,
Parameters – there are two options available:
1st Leave it empty – will cause the function to open the discoverer all reports web page and user will have to choose a specific report from the list .
2nd Fill it with value '=workbook=name of the workbook' but without spaces, convert the spaces (if there are any) from the workbook name to + (plus) sign.
For example '=workbook=BI+SERVICE+Performance' represents the string for the 'BI SERVICE Performance' report.
Note: you can also send parameters to the report but since almost all the parameters have a default value (accept from dates) it's not necessary.
2.3.4 Web HTML tab – fill the HTML call with ' OracleOASIS.RunDiscoverer'.
Don't forget to press save button.
Stage 2 Ends.
Stage 3:
Build an oracle application menu or submenu for each discoverer report that represented by the function you has created in stage 2.
Perform this stage for each pair - responsibility + report/function.
3.1 Enter the application in System Administrator responsibility.
3.2 Choose menu 'Security' and then submenu 'Responsibility' and then submenu 'Define'.
3.3 Locate the needed menu by the responsibility that you want to enable her to use the report – of course that the report should be granted for the responsibility via discoverer mechanism as well.
Do it by clicking on the flashlight that located in the left upper corner and find the needed responsibility.
3.4 Find the needed responsibility and select her via next screen (Don't forget to use % as wildcards)-choose by double click on her
3.5 Copy the menu name that related to the responsibility you have choose from the menu field located in the next screen and close the window.
3.6 From the navigator screen choose menu 'Application' and then submenu 'Menu'.
3.7 Locate the menu that you've copied in 3.5 (with the flashlight and the find screen, double click on the menu name – similar to 3.3 and 3.4) via next screen.
3.8 Press on the 'add record' sign (+) that located in the right upper corner of the screen (Do it after the mouse sign and focus is in the rows as you can see the oval mark).
3.9 Fill the prompt with what you want the user to see in the menu that will activate the report link and after fill the user function name as you have build her in stage 2 (Don't forget to save it).
Don't forget to press save button.
Stage 3 Ends. -
Repainting problems of the Menu items in Oracle Help Navigator
All,
I am facing a strange problem when using Oracle Help for my application which is developed in Java,Swings.
Whenever, I open Help for any component through my application, the menu items in the Help screen are not visible. They are not getting repainted. Only when user drags the mouse over the items, they are getting repainted and visible to the user. This has been raised as a bug by our testing people. I couldn't get any help in aspects of any errors/exceptions being logged when the action takes place.
Where can I have the log files for Help window?
Can anyone help me and guide me to the right solution in this regards.
My environ is like this:
Windows NT, JRE1.4, Oracle Help - ohj-jewt-4_1_16.jar,
Thanks in advance for all.
regards,
Kishore.iweb2 navbar is rendered by javascript widget, therefore you can change navbar font style with javascript; this is an efficient way to change navbar font style.
Copy and paste the following into your pages using HTML Snippet:
<script type = 'text/javascript'>
function changeNavbar() {
navCSS = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-navbar');
navCSS.style.fontSize = '0.75em'; // font size, change to less than 1em to change font smaller;
navCSSbg = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-bg');
navCSSbg.style.textAlign = 'center'; // navbar list alignment;
clearInterval(chkNavbar);
chkNavbar = setInterval('changeNavbar()', 500);
note: You won't see the changes in iweb, but you will see the change when view the pages online - after publishing. -

<ul><li>Oracle Applications Developer's Guide </li>
<li>Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products</li>
<li>Oracle Application Framework Personalization Guide</li></UL>
These and all of the other related EBS documents can be found in the Oracle Applications (EBS) Documentation Home and don't forget the Oracle eTRM Technical Reference, but you will need an Oracle Support contract to access this site.
When you can't find your answer in these document sources, you can always ask for help in the E-Business Suite group of forums.

Discoverer Plus/Viewer from menu item in Oracle Applications errors.
Starting Discoverer Plus/Viewer from menu item in Oracle Applications R12 errors.
Here is some general config information that is suspected to be the issue.
1. Running Oracle Applications R12 over HTTPS.
2. Running Discoverer Plus/Viewer over HTTP.
3. Calling menu item that calls a function to start Plus/Viewer.
Function Definition called by the menu item is listed blow.
Properties Tab: Type=SSWA jsp function Context Dependence=Responsibility
Form Tab: Parameters="mode=DISCO"
Web HTML Tab: HTML Call=OracleOasis.jsp
Fact: Starting Discoverer Plus using a URL works fine in the browser. The login page comes up and I can look in to Plus.
The page that dose a redirection to start the Plus applet or Viewer web page fails with this error in IE 7.
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
Thank you for your time.Hi,
Check that the ICX system profiles are set correctly for your Discoverer configuration. In particular the ICX: Discoverer Launcher and ICX: Discoverer Viewer Launcher system profiles.
When IE displays an error is the URL displayed in the browser a correct Disco URL?

YramHi Yram
Great explanation and good posting with lots of useful information.
You need to administer and log in to Apps as an Apps user. You use a database user only for the purposes of creating the EUL. It would take a long time to explain all of the steps here. However, I have an illustrated white paper on my downloads page that explains setting up an EUL in Apps mode.
At first glance though it sounds like you may not have defined a Gateway UserID and Foundation Name inside Discoverer Administrator. You do this using Tools | Options | Connection. The Gateway UserID and Password is usually applsyspub/pub, while the Foundation Name is apps. The entries are usually in lowercase.
My downloads page can be found at: http://learndiscoverer.com/downloads/downloads.htm and the document is called Setting up an Apps mode EUL.
Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes

~AbhijitHello Frank,
Thanks for your reply. As you suggested I renamed the "system" folder within jdev folder. Then restarted jdev. But the same problem still exist.
I also tried by taking another Jdeveloper dump (which is working in another machine) , but got the same problem again in my machine.
I don't know whether the problem is with jdev files or some thing else, could be my machile system files also. Pls have a look on this once again.

Best way of having left-side navigation menu?
Hello Folks,
I'm interested in developing an application using JSP and the design requirement is that it should have a left-side navigation menu. Is there an Oracle recommended way of doing this or should I resort to using DHTML? In addition, please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks!You have two parts in your question: left side navigation menu;
You can define and use templates (HTML Templates) for your Pages in the Portal to structure your pages, such that Navigation or navigational tools can be placed on the page wherever you like. That is for the positioning of the navigational tools.
To define your navigational tools (menus, for eg), you may still use DHTML and/or a combination of other methods.
hope that helps!

BO & Oracle Application Server
Post Author: amr_foci
CA Forum: Deployment
i've a Business Objects System installe on a server machine (A), and an Oracle Application Server installed on Server machine (B),,,can i deploy the business objects system on the oracle application server instead of TOMCAT ???
i've red the installation guide and specially the chapter related with the deployment of the oracle application server, i did all the steps.. but nothing worked
could we do this initialy,, and how we could do it?
thank youI tried manually to deploy web applications, but not successful. This is my deployment step following:
AIX 5.3: BOE XI 3.1 :
Copy all <INSTALLDIR>/bobje/enterprise120/java/applications/ to Windows Websphere D:\BO_WAS
WebSphere 6.1 location & IP (windows) :
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer1\
IP: 192.168.69.10
Log in to WebSphere Applicaton Server Administrative http://192.168.69.10:9060/admin
1. Under the Applications heading of the console navigation menu, click
Enterprise Applications on the left navigational pane.
2. Click the Install button and navigate to the location of the WAR file to
deploy. If deploying from a remote file system, select the Remote File
System option.
3. Enter a context root for the WAR file (e.g. /CmcApp for CmcApp.war)
(this format (/CmcApp) for Unix OS, have different in Windows ? Could you give me fully path?)
and
press the Next button, followed by Continue.
4. In "Step 1", give a unique name for your web application and proceed to
"Step 2".
5. Highlight the server you created (or highlight server1 if you didn't create
your own) from the Clusters and Servers and enable the Select
checkbox. Proceed to "Step 3".
6. Select the virtual host you created (or default_host if you didn't create
your own) from the Virtual Host drop-down list. Proceed to "Step 4".
7. Review the summary page, and press Finish when done.
8. Click Save to Master Configuration.
9. Click the Save link, then the Save button.
Finally the output is not available.
Many thanks in advance and best regards -
Modifying Form Behaviour Oracle Applications
Hello:
I have a problem with a form in Oracle Applications 10.7.0.
FORM - RCVCOFND.fmb ( Find Expected Receipts (16) ) Receiving--> Receipts
Upon entering this form Input Focus defaults to "Source Type". Users have decided that they would like to Default to "Purchase Order" item upon entry to this form.
I added code to CUSTOM.PLL that tests for WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE and form_name however form_name returns "RCVRCERC" which is not the form that I want to modify navigation.
Further investigation reveals that form RCVCOFND has its own PLL, BUT we are not allowed to modify this PLL, only the CUSTOM.pll is modifiable.
Does anyone have any suggestions or could advise on a workaround please.
Oracle Applications 10.7.0 SC161
Oracle Applications Client SC161
Application Object Library 7.5.16.02
Oracle Forms 4.5.7.1.8
RDBMS 8.1.6.3.0
Thanks.
N.1. Copy your form (test.fmb) into $AU_TOP/forms/US
2. Compile with f60gen
3. Copy the test.fmx file to $PRODUCT_TOP/forms/US
4. Login to Oracle Applications with sysadmin user
5. Select Application Developer responsibility
6. Navigate to Application - Form -
7. Enter the values for following parameter
Form = test
Application = You can select from LOV
User Form Name = Enter as you like
Description = Enter if any
8. Navigate to Application - Function
9. Enter the values in the function form
in Description TAB - Enter the value for Function, User Function Name, Description
in Properties TAB - Type = FORM
Maint.Mode Support = None
Context Dependence = Responsibility
in Form TAB - Form = Select your form name that already registered (above one)
Application = Will display
Parameters = STARTUP_MODE= TEST
10. Now you can attach the form in Menu then Responsibility
Revert back if you have any query.

Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome
Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome. Works in IE. This is my first time trying to post a question - so please be kind. I am also not good with code and am finding css a real challenge after learning to design based on tables. I'm using CS5.
The "test" page with the slide show is: http://www.reardanwa.com/index-slides.html The same page without the slide show is http://www.reardanwa.com/
I realize the images are not ideally sized - I'll fix those once I get the pages to function. Maybe I need a different slide show? I would prefer a widget that I can modify to required size & postition. Again - I'm not good at building with code from scratch.
The problem is the naviagation links that are directly next to the slide show do not work in Firefox of Chrome. They do work in IE.
I've read about using jQuery.noConflict(); code but can't figure out the correct way to use it in my case or whether that's even part of the solution. I know my code is not well organized as I have cobbled together from various sources in an attempt to format the page the way the client wants it. Also, FYI, I will eventually try to make the page work in Surreal CMS.
I've spent sevaral days over the last several weeks trying to solve sth slide show/navigation conflict - so any specific light you can shed will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
