Oracle Dev Tools 10.1.0.4 and R2 Client

Hi,
I have installed the 10gR2 Client (including 10.2 ODP.NET).
Now I want the Dev Tools but the only version available is 10.1.0.4. If I choose the same oracle home, OUI will reinstall ODP.NET 10.1.0.4 and other older files...
Do I have to wait for Dev Tools 10.2 ?? If not, how could I install it without have two version of client and ODP.NET ?
Thx

Hi,
If you want to use the 10G Release 2 client with ODT you will need to wait for the next release which is due before the end of the year. As you noted, your other option is to use the 10.1.0.x client / ODT / ODP.NET installation.

  • Run application developed with Oracle dev tools in Linux client

    Hi,
In my organization we're using Oracle forms and reports as development tools and 10g database.
We have developed an app that runs on Windows XP, and I would like to know what are the possibilities for it to run in a Linux client, such as Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.
Is it possible? What would I need to do that?
    Thanks

For Forms and Reports to run in Linux it (Linux) will need a Java plug-in.
The last time I did this I used this:
The file jre-6u12-linux-i586-rpm.bin was download from:
    http://www.java.com/en/download
There should be instructions there on how to install and configure.
I will include my short enable notes below: (Keep in mind these are about two years old)
    Enable and Configure
    1. Go to the plugins sub-directory under the Firefox installation directory
    This directory was:
/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.1/plugins (On Red Hat AS 4)
    2. Enter the following command to create a symbolic link to the Java Plug-in for the Mozilla browser.
    ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_12/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Note: Use ns7-gcc29 if Firefox was compiled with gcc2.9. (It was not)

  • Connection Status INACTIVE (Oracle Dev tools EntityFramework)

    Hello,
I am using the EF ObjectContext in a C++ application (via COM) - I wrapped the context in an exposed class to COM in .NET - and once I finish with the COM object, I uninitialize COM (CoUninitialize();) and the finalizer of the wrapped class is called where I do a context.Dispose(); context = null;.
My problem is that the connection status (select username, program, machine, status FROM V$SESSION where username is not null;) is INACTIVE after disposing the context and this causes problems when the number of licenses is reached.
How can I force the connection to close?
    Thanks

ODP uses connection pooling by default; if you want to turn it off, add "pooling=false" to your connect string.
Note that this will result in slower performance as apart from having to open a hard connection every time you call con.Open, it also disables things like statement caching.

  • What tools for locating rogue APs and adhoc clients ?

Hi all. I was wondering how you locate your rogues. I have WCS with location detection; however, I still have to go out and hunt down the device. It can be difficult when there is a high density of laptops. Right now, I try to attach to unsecured devices and use the Cisco wireless survey utility to home in on the rogue. Please let me know if you use something better. This seems to work better than using netstumbler, but it has the disadvantage of requiring that you attach to it first. If security is enabled, I have to resort to netstumbler. I would appreciate hearing what techniques and tools work for you.
    Randy

I have not found and new tools/techniques as of yet. The way I see it the flow goes like this:
    1. You detect the rogue over the air waves. WLCs and WCS do a good job of this.
    2. With WCS and location detection, you get the aproximate location of the rogue.
    3. Then you have to go get the rogue. Sometimes they are easy to find, sometimes they are really hard to even when the location data is good. They could be under or behind a desk, or in an adjacent office.
I have not tried one of the spectrum cards from Cisco. Perhaps that would work better for finding the device once you know roughly where to look.
It seems that most rogues are not APs, but are routers using NAT. That hides the clients wireless mac addresses from the LAN side of your switched network so I don't think it is easy to locate the rogue on the LAN switch based upon what the AP's hear over the air waves - at least that is my experience.

  • Using Sun Appserver 7 deploy tool to package 2 ejbs and their clients

I have a question on how to package two beans into one distributable jar file and also provide the two associated test clients - each in its own jar file. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. This is what I'm trying to do:
I am using the deploy tool that is packaged with Sun One Application Server 8.2. I currently have two stateless session beans deployed to a J2EE 1.4 Sun One Application Server and a test application client for each bean. For each bean, I created a j2ee application (ear) file and packaged the EJB JAR file containing the bean's classes and deployment descriptor, and an application client. I followed the steps as outlined in Suns ConverterApp example in their j2ee tutorial. (The example is from chapter 24 in the j2eetutorial14 example ejb/converter) Upon deploying, the tool returns a client jar file that you can then use to call the bean. I have been able to successfully execute both beans in this manner.
Now, for distribution, I need to package both of the beans in one jar file and also provide a separate jar file for each test client, but I dont see how to use the deploy utility to do this. Can anyone suggest what would be the best (fastest) way to do this? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

The code and ejb-jar.xml look ok to me. Try checking the server.log to see if there were any deployment errors.
What exact class is the lookup code from your note defined in, com.sun.some.someEJB?

  • Oracle Personal Edition and SQL dev. tool

I installed Oracle 10g Personal Edition on my laptop and want to use SQL Creator (SQL developer's tool/program - http://www.snefru.com/index.jsp) with it.
I'm trying to setup my SQL developers tool to connect to my local Oracle database and there is a connection wizard for the SQL program which prompts me:
    1.) "Select a JDBC driver..."
2.) "Enter Host name for the server that the database is located on...."
3.) "Enter Port number that the database is listening on...."
4.) "Unique SID of the database instance..."
How can I find out 1.) - 4.) for my specific, local database?
    Thanks in advance...

When you run SQL*Plus, what is the version number displayed:
    C:\>sqlplus
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.3.0 - Production on Tue Nov 22 17:11:44 2005

    Enter user-name:?
You woudl download the driver that matches with that release.
if you did the database install, chances are you already have the jdbc driver installed.
    Do you have a directry ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib ?
Do you have files like classes*.jar in that directory?
if you do you already have the jdbc driver files.

  • Oracle Development Tools and TFS

    Hey there,
currently I'm struggeling with how to work with Visual Studio Oracle Development Tools and TFS.
I'm relatively new to Oracle-DBs, I'm known to MS SQL Server.
In General my colleagues and me work in the solution Explorer (SQL Server DB-Solution), upload and get the latest Version from TFS. If anything new comes in I can easily use the Schema compare from my solution to the database.
Now my question: How is this possible when working with Oracle DBs? Imagine I get some new tables and schemas from TFS. How do I Transfer this easily from solution Explorer to my Server Explorer / DBs?
Do I really have to deploy each and every script manually?
    Thanks in advance

  • I can compile objects with SQL dev tool but not with a direct sql

    hi,
This is a bit weird - I'm probably not familiar enough with Oracle's compilation process...
I'm creating a some functions / procedures / triggers. When I run the script to create them with Oracle's SQL Developer tool, usually they become immediately valid, and if not then I can manually right click them and choose Compile, and they're compiled correctly and become valid.
However, when running them with command line tools, they're uncompiled after created. I'm trying compile them with
    ALTER PROCEDURE / FUNCTION / TRIGGER MySchema.MyFunction COMPILE;
    and it always returns
Error starting at line 1 in command:
    alter function MySchema.MyFunction compile
    Error report:
    SQL Command: alter function
Failed: Warning: execution completed with warning
    alter function MySchema.MyFunction succeeded.
and the object remains uncompiled / invalid.
also tried with DBMS_... utils and got the same results.
Same with adding things such as PLSQL_WARNINGS = 'ERROR:ALL' to the stmt
But when I go in SQL Developer to the object, right click and click Compile, it compiles fine w/o warnings / errors and becomes valid.
Is there anything else I should run other than this alter..compile? Is SQL Dev tool doing something different than "alter function ... compile" when right clicking and object and clicking "Compile"?
    thanks!

    hi,
I'm having difficulties connecting with SQL Plus, since it seem to require at startup some admin user/password, which I don't have at the moment. Also tried to give it in command line the db name and params and it still require this pass... Will try to get it...
But again, when I'm right clicking the object in SQL Developer and click Compile, it compiles fine and becomes valid. After doing that, running
    alter function mySchema.MyTestFunction compile;
    passes with
    "alter function mySchema.testfunction succeeded"
If I run this sql before doing compile with SQL Developer, it fails with what I posted before.
I wonder if SQL Developer does things other than the above compile stmt.
If I right click on Functions in SQL Dev and click Compile All or Compile Invalid, I can see the sql it about to generate, and it's the same as I tried - and fails as well... Only when right clicking the object and Compile it works...
A test func I tried, for example:
    create or replace
    FUNCTION testFunction(n in number)
    RETURN NUMBER
    IS
    BEGIN
    RETURN n + 1;
    END;

    I installed the full
Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
    onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
    I tried it with
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
but tnsping is still not recognized.
sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
    what is going on...

    2. Oracle Migration Assistant for Microsoft Access 8.0.4.0.0

    7. Oracle8 ODBC Driver 8.0.4.0.0
    8. Required Support Files 8.0.4.0.0
I installed everything onto my Windows98 client machine. Once I
did this, I could see the following entries in my Start Menu
    under "Oracle for Windows95":
    1. Microsoft ODBC Administrator
    2. 004002 Class Library Documentation
    3. 004022 Bound Controls and Class Library
    4. 004022 Control Notes
    5. 004022 Release Notes
    6. Oracle Home Selector
    7. Oracle Installer
    8. Oracle Migration Assistant for MS Access
    9. Oracle Objects for OLE Documentation
    10. Oracle ODBC Help File
    11. Oracle ODBC README File
    12. Oracle ODBC Test
When I went into the Microsoft ODBC Administrator, I could also
see that there was a new entry under the ODBC Drivers tab:
Oracle ODBC Driver 8.00.0400 Oracle Corporation SQORA32.DLL
    12/3/97
    So far, so good.
Then I started going through the Oracle8 ODBC help file to get
my machine set up to start using the tool. Under "Configuration
    Tasks," it says the following:
Before you configure the data source, you must configure Net8
database services, so there is an entry for each Service Name.
To do this, start the Oracle Net8 Assistant, either click on the
Oracle for Windows NT program group and click on the Oracle Net8
Assistant icon or from the start bar select Programs, select
Oracle for Windows NT, and select the Oracle Net8 Assistant.
Using the Oracle Net8 Assistant, you can create an entry in the
tnsnames.ora file for each Service Name. The Oracle Net8
Assistant is installed when you install Net8.
That's when I started running into problems. Although the
installer had shown that Net8 had been installed, I could not
find any evidence of a Net8 Assistant on my Windows98 client
machine. Is there a trick to starting up the Net8 Assistant?
Until I am able to perform this step, I cannot go to the next
step of configuring my ODBC driver.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Brendan,
I am not 100% sure, but I believe win98 is not supported.... yet.
I know that 95 is supported, but to be honest, I do not run

    if I am wrong.
