  • Oracle discoverer ver 9.0.2.39.02 - Error While using  discoverer plus

    Hi,
I have installed oracle 9i discoverer ver 9.0.2.39.02 and while tyring to use Discoverer Plus (http://ip:port/discoverer/plus)
I get error when creaating a workbook using workbook wizard, if i go thru the steps 1 to 10 It just does'nt do anything when i click Finish. At the same time
If i click Finish on the Table layout screen immediately after selecting the items it generates the worksheet
what could be the reason for me unable to generate the worksheet.
Create / edit Business Privilege is granted to the user.
    can anybody help me.
    Thanks

    Hi
But Desktop is not the product that you reported the error on, you said that Plus was giving you the problem.
Desktop generally has far fewer issues that Plus because it is a client-based tool and I would expect it to work fine in Desktop.
Have you ever had 9.0.2 Plus working as you describe or have you recently installed it? Either way, I strongly recommend upgrading your Discoverer Plus to the version in my previous reply.
By the way, I think you will find that most people rapidly got off 9.0.2 as soon as 9.0.4 came out which was 10g Release 1. If you look on my blog: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/ you will see a couple of surveys that were conducted earlier this year. The top one indicates that only 4% of Discoverer sites are using 9.0.2. Of those I would suggest most will be on the 54 release which really was quite stable.
You will fnd it really hard to get help if you stay on the 39 release because there are so few folks around who have it installed.
    Best wishes

  • System Core Dumped after Oracle patch upgrade 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8

    Hi,
We are continously getting dumps on our BW Central instance server after we did an Oracle patch upgrade from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8.
    Following is our system environment
    SAP Release.............. "640"

    Operating system......... "SunOS"
    Release.................. "5.10"
    Hardware type............ "sun4v"

    SAP kernel............... "640"
    Database version......... "OCI_920 "
    Patch level.............. "175"
Following below is the Core Dump that is generated for any process chains that we schedule on our BW server

         Process terminated by signal 11.
    What happened?
The current ABAP program had to be terminated because the
ABAP processor detected an internal system error.
The current ABAP program "SAPMSSY2" had to be terminated because the ABAP
processor discovered an invalid system state.
    What can you do?
Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
        date.
    Error analysis
An SAP System process was terminated by an operating system signal.
        Possible reasons for this are:
        1. Internal SAP System error.
        2. Process was terminated externally (by the system administrator).

    How to correct the error
The SAP System work directory (e.g. /usr/sap/c11/D00/work ) often
        contains a file called 'core'.
Save this file under another name.
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
        1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
           Save->Local File (unconverted)".
        2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
           "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
        3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
           supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
           Upload/Download->Download".
        4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.
    Kindly help.

No. If the environment would be wrong the system wouldn´t start up.
Core dumps are in 99 % of the cases program errors (in the SAP kernel or in an interface (libdbora*)), misaligend accesses of data etc.
If you encounter such an error have a look in the C-Stack. If you can´t see where the error is happening opening an OSS call. Most of those errors are fixed by installing the latest patches for the kernel and the database interface.

  • Backup error after kernel patch upgrade

    Hi.
I have a backup problem after the kernel patch upgrade.  I have SAP R3 4.6C on HPUX11.0 with an Oracle 8.17 database.
I have upgraded kernel patch from 1655 to 2337.
Afterward, I am getting following backup error:
    BR280I Time stamp 2007-11-06 09.29.01
    BR279E Return code from '/usr/sap/HAD/SYS/exe/run/backint -u HAD -f backup -i /oracle/HAD/sapbackup/.bdwnpztp.lst -t file_online -c': 2
BR232E 0 of 115 files saved by backup utility
    BR280I Time stamp 2007-11-06 09.29.01
    BR231E Backup utility call failed
Does anyone know how to correct this?
    Thank you.

    Hi Jun,
backint is a link file that is in SAP kernel directory which links to the backup client on the server.
    eg:
    lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         32 Aug 13  2004 backint -> /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/backint
As part of kernel upgrade process, the kernel is backed up, mostly on the disk before upgrading. Check if this link exists and recreate it in the kernel directory, if no backup was done, compare it with other systems to get the details of the backint link.
    Cheers,

  • Oracle Discoverer 4i patches

I am in a process of configuring 9iAS Enterprise installation and more specifically Discoverer. In the release notes it is mentioned to run patchset 1750555. iAS installs Discoverer version 4.1.37, the patch however is reversing it to 4.1.36.
Can Oracle Discoverer team shed some light on the concept of downgrading patches and proper post-downgrading steps.

Are you trying to connect to the same database from both Discoverer machines ? Are the OS versions on those two machines identical ? Pl post the exact error code/message ?

  • Kernel Patch upgrade results into error

Recently, we upgraded our R/3 640 kernel from patch number 196 to 327. It went successful.
But now, the Sales and order team is having problem in saving the orders(VA02, VA01).
While saving Sales order, error pops up saying "dialog step number missing".
    Kindly suggest.

    Hi ppl,
    The problem has been resolved.
As i said, problem wasnt with the upgrade, but came thereafter, functional team faced issues while switching between the windows.
Problem was with the Gui level, it needed to be upgraded too after the kernel patch upgrade.
Thanks a lot for putting your thoughts.
    Thanks

    Recommendations
Oracle recommends gathering dictionary statistics prior to
    upgrading the database.
To gather dictionary statistics execute the following command
    while connected as SYSDBA:
        EXECUTE dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats;
Oracle recommends reviewing any defined events prior to upgrading.
To view existing non-default events execute the following commands
    while connected AS SYSDBA:
      Events:
        SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) FROM sys.v$parameter2
          WHERE  UPPER(name) ='EVENT' AND  isdefault='FALSE'
      Trace Events:
        SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) from sys.v$parameter2
          WHERE UPPER(name) = '_TRACE_EVENTS' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Changes will need to be made in the init.ora or spfile.

  • Error on 3.1.1 = 3.1.2 patch upgrade on 11.1.0 database

    Hello all,
I got two errors at the upgrade:
    declare
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kokegPinLob1], [], [], [], [], [],
    ORA-06512: at line 548

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kokegPinLob1], [], [], [], [], [],
    ORA-06512: at line 438
Also when I validate the install with this query it seems that the status is not VALID, but LOADED instead
    SELECT STATUS
    FROM DBA_REGISTRY
    WHERE COMP_ID = 'APEX';
But I am able to run Apex properly with the updated version number at the right bottom. What can I do to make sure everything is ok? And what does the error mean?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jacob

    Hello,
What can I do to make sure everything is ok? I'd do two things -
    1) Log it with Oracle Support, who should be able to help you to find the problem.
    2) Heavily test your Apex environment...create applications, regions, items, run the apps, have lots of people try them etc. Do all this before thinking about using that install in production given that you have had some ORA- errors during the install.
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • Oracle Discoverer Admin Error

    Hi,
When i run the query by validating it in the custom folder of my Oracle Discoverer Administrator it gives the error message 'OUT OF MEMORY'
Kindly help on the possible causes and solution.

    Hi,
Is it possible there is a syntax problem in the query you are validating? Maybe if you post the query someone could explain it.

  • Apply Oracle Receivables Patch after Upgrade 5753621

    Hi,
After upgrading the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 database to 10.2.0.3.....
do we required to apply this patch..Oracle Receivables patch...5753621..

    From Patch 5753621 README file:
Abstract: ONE-OFF REQUEST ON TOP OF 11.5.9 CU2 FOR BUG 5525015
Description: Enabled Histogram for complete_flag in ra_customer_trx_all table
    Patch Size: 4.8K
I have applied this patch last time I did an upgrade to 10.2.0.3 with no issues at all. The patch would create a histogram on ra_customer_trx_all.complete_flag and gather the table stats then, nothing more.

  • Oracle Discoverer error

hi, i have the following message when i try to open an oracle discoverer report using web version
"contact with the discoverer server has been lost if this persists, please contact your discoverer administrator"
while i can open the same report using oracle discoverer desktop for windows.
    thanks

It sounds like the discoverer thread on the server has crashed, perhaps because it has run out of memory.
Set the Retrieve data incrementally in groups of to 25 rather than the default of 250 (Tool - Options - Query Governor ). DBA should look into where the default comes from in the system so you do not need to touch each end users machine.
Check the file pref.txt in <ias home>/6iserver/discwb4/util. It sounds like the "RowsPerFetch" setting needs to change. Once you change it you need to stop and re-start (stopall.sh and startall.sh) Discoverer.

  • Oracle discoverer 9i can not running at windows 2003 server

    Hi, Please help me.
When I upgrade from windows 2000 advance server to windows 2003 server the oracle discoverer 9i can not be open. When I open it there is a error "Failed to open document"
How to make it run smoothly at windows 2003 server?
    Thank You

    Hi,
This is a bug in your version of Discoverer. There is a patch to make it work with windows 2003 or you can upgrade your Discoverer to a later version. The patch should be available from Oracle support. I don't know of anyway to make your version work with 2003.
