Oracle SQL/XML Code Example produces ORA-19207
I have tried executing the Code Example shown below which has been provided by Oracle for the SCOTT/TIGER emp and dept tables (http://otn.oracle.com/tech/xml/xmldb/htdocs/sql_xml_codeexamples.html), and it produces the following error:
ORA-19207 scalar parameter string of XMLELEMENT cannot have an alias.
I have looked up the following explanation of this error message:
Cause: The scalar parameter to XMLELEMENT has been qualified with an alias.
Action: Remove the AS clause of the scalar element.
Is there a way to fix this?
SELECT XMLElement("Department",
XMLForest(deptno "DeptNo", d.dname "DeptName", d.loc "Location"),
(SELECT XMLAGG(XMLElement("Employee",
XMLForest(e.empno "EmployeeId",
e.ename "Name",
e.job "Job",
e.mgr "Manager",
e.hiredate "Hiredate"),
e.sal "Salary",
e.comm "Commission"))
FROM emp e
WHERE e.deptno = d.deptno))
FROM dept d;Hi ,
The reason for getting the SQL error is that, in the SQL there is a closing bracket that is wrongly put after "Hiredate", it should have been put after the "Commission". Correct this and the SQL
will run properly.
For example , the correct script will be like is:
SET LONG 5000
SELECT XMLElement("Department",
XMLForest(deptno "DeptNo", d.dname "DeptName", d.loc "Location"),
(SELECT XMLAGG(XMLElement("Employee",
XMLForest(e.empno "EmployeeId",
e.ename "Name",
e.job "Job",
e.mgr "Manager",
e.hiredate "Hiredate",
e.sal "Salary",
e.comm "Commission")))
FROM emp e
WHERE e.deptno = d.deptno))
FROM dept d;
Hope it helps.

I tried using the <code> tag but it does not work. anyone??
thanks in advanceTrogDog, thanks for resurrecting this post; it seems all questions about this topic are answered with the idiodic suggestion of substituting character entities for the < and > signs, a rather crude and inefficient way to document code.
In my case, the <pre> tag did not render at all, however, this minor adjustment worked like a charm:
<xmp>
<example>
<message>no special escaping nonsense</message>
<hopethishelps>true</hopethishelps>
</example>
<xmp>
Node the change from <pre> to <xmp>, and the removal of {@code}. If you leave {@code} then the < and > will be displayed as character entities, the absolute opposite of the intended effect.
Thank you for the elegant solution! -
Oracle application 12.1.3 - XML Gateway, Oracle Transportation Execution

I have an ADF BC/Faces application with 2 model projects, each having their own app module so I can connect to 2 different schemas for different pages. I am seeing multiple data controls appear in the DC palette - why? In DataBindings.cpx there are only 2 data controls.
For example, I just added a new view to one AM. It appeared in the DC palette under a new DataControl (AppModuleDataControl3) instead of in the existing DataControl for that AM. When I dragged from the view to the page, I got "could not complete findOrCreateDataControlInApplication because it would result in an invalid document." The full error is below.
The only unusual thing I can think of is that I am using AM configurations with JDBC DataSource for the connection type. My Jdev version is 10.1.3.3.

In the application where I maintain the BC library, I created app modules so I could verify the model before using it in other applications.
From looking at the .jpx files for my models it appears that these app modules
were imported as part of the library. So I removed the app modules and corrected my .jpx files.
I'd suggest a note be added to the section about reusable BC libraries to make sure that any test app modules are excluded when jar files are generated. -
I am installing OIM/OAM in a cluster configuration using release 11.1.1.7.
I looked at the EDG here:

XML and XSD file to an internal table
I had read a lot of thread but i don't understand how to deal with xml/xsd in R3.
I need someone that have a definite example for this escenary please.
With OPEN DATASET took from the server XML and XSD file, and put it in two internal tables type string.
What functions or method have to use, and how to use them, to charge the XML file in an internal table?
This is an example of XML and XDS:
XML
AND CONTINUE
Best Regards,I just tried to interpret your question, it was not obvious what you wanted.
I guess what you mean is that you have defined (statically) a deep structure, and you want to decode the XML into it. That is called a transformation (transaction STRANS, statement CALL TRANSFORMATION). You have the choice between 2 transformation languages: XSLT and ST. Of course, it depends what release you are running.
I advise you to play first with the ID transformation, to convert an ABAP deep structured data object into XML, so that you see what XML is generated, this one is called asXML. If you create your own transformation, when you call it, it will first convert automatically the data object to asXML, and the transformation has to do the rest of the job.
You can do the opposite, i.e. converting from XML to a data object, according to the same principle (intermediate asXML).
Well, there are lots of things to say, I recommend you to read articles and documentation on XSLT and ST (search on SDN).
About XSD, it won't help (and I did never see any possibility to use it) to decode the XML, as you must anyway define the target data object statically (and there's no tool to generate the ABAP code of the data object definition from the XSD).
Note that you may also use iXML libraries to parse the XML.
Please tell us more.

Hello,
I have read the Oracle XML SQL Utility documentation and also
the answer of Oracle team to Johnson Scott and as far as I
understand, the XML that is produced from the database and
loaded in it must verify a given DTD syntax.
Is this DTD available somewhere ?
What I have understood about XML Data of w3c is that it gives a
way to describe the content of a database.
What is Oracle position on that subject ?
I do ask this question because we have at present an SGML file,
with its own DTD that contains data we have to
insert/delete/update in an Oracle Database.
We are thinking of converting this SGML file in an XML file,
with tools like OMNIMARK or BALISE, that could be easily
integrated in the Oracle Database.
We are looking for the best solution to our problem and think
that Oracle tools like Oracle XML SQL, parserand Class generator
could be really usefull.
What do you think of this problem and of the solution we imagine
Thanks for your help,
Best regards,
C line.
nullHello,
I am actually studying the tools that Oracle offers to treat XML
data.
When reading the description of your products I can see two
solutions to my problem.
I remind it to you :
I have an SGML file with its own DTD that contains data we have
to insert/delete/update in an Oracle Database.
I can imagine two solutions :
1- one with Oracle IFs XML support :
To use this one I have to convert my SGML DTD in an XML one
(they should be very similar) and then write a program that
would convert my SGML file in an XML one.
Then create an Oracle iFS document descriptor that indicates how
each part of my file should be stored in my Oracle database.
2- an other one with Oracle XML SQL utility :
To use this one I have to convert my SGML file in an XML file
that is well-formed (i.e. that Oracle XMLSQL utility can
understand).
This convertion is much more difficult to do than the one I have
described above.
Are those two solutions correct ?
If yes, which one is the best in your opinion ?
Could you use XML Data with Oracle XML SQL utility ?
Is the DTD you have defined for this tool compiliant with XML
Data ?
If not why ?
I have not the tool from which I can get it but I would be
interested by the description of this DTD which is the best way
to see what I can do with this tool (and imagine a solution for
update if it cannot be easily done).
I would also be very interested in having the description of DTD
for Oracle iFS document descriptor files (as far I have
understood they are XML files) or an example of quite a complex
one so that I can I an idea of how it cold fit to my problem.
I have been really impressed by Oracle team very fast answer and
thank you very much for your help.
Regards,
C line.

Jps-config.xml (No such file or directory)
Hi Experts,
I created a Java proxy for a web service, deployed on a separate server (not WLS), with no ws policy. When I used POJO client, the invocation of the web service worked fine. But when I put the same invocation code in a concurrent program in EBS R12.2 (running on WLS), I got error when running the program:
oracle.security.jps.internal.config.xml.XmlConfigurationFactory initDefaultConfiguration
SEVERE: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /u01/R122_EBS/inst/apps/xxxx/logs/appl/conc/log/./config/jps-config.xml (No such file or directory)
I didn't use any JPS related feature in the proxy client. I don't know why it asks for jps-config.xml in EBS 12.2.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.Thanks Hussein!
I saw this from the note ID 972284.1:
Output:-
30/11/2009 6:27:24 PM oracle.security.jps.internal.config.xml.XmlConfigurationFactory initDefaultConfiguration

Hello >> Peter Pan
Looks like it's the output when successful. Does that mean the SEVERE FileNotFound Exception can be ignored? If the jps-config.xml is not used in the example, why the runtime keeps looking for it?
Appreciate your help very much. -
Oracle EBS XML Gateway inboud senario
Hi folks,
Now I am trying to do Oracle EBS XML Gateway inbound senario using OTA and WID/WPS.
For using OTA, after I send a request from OTA client, then I can see a record inserted into table ecx_inqueue, then this record dispear. I see this request is processed sucessfully in transaction monitor. I can see request data is stored in predefined data table.
But when using WID/WPS to sent a request, I get ResponseCode 200 and also see a record inserted into table WF_WS_JMS_IN, then this record dispear. But from transaction monitor I cannot find this transaction record not matter it is successful or error or warning. I also cannot see the request data in data table.
In table wf_error, there isn't my record.
Is there anyone who can help me figure out how to see whether my request is sucessful or failed? If it is sucessful, I should see it in transaction monitor; if it is failed, I should see it in table wf_error. But now I cannot find it.
Some one who is familar with the whole process, pls help me to understand.
Thanks in advance.Hi Hussein,
Thanks for replay.
I downloaded the rapid install package from e-delivery. The B53824-01_4of4 was the OWB installer, and it has a readme file that says: "+This patch contains Oracle Workflow Builder (version 2.6.3.0.1) and Oracle XML Gateway Message Designer (version 2.6.3). These client tools are supported for use with an Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 instance.+"
I believe, as well as you, that it should be work for 12.1.2.
I'm gonna make some test, and in a few days I will post my results.
Thanks for the help.

Installing oracle client 10g with response file
Hello,
I'm trying to do a installation of oracle 10g client. I did a setup with the record option (to create responsefile). Everything is installed and works well. When I use the responsefile created from the record option, it does not install all option I had chosen, allthough the responsefile gives them.
this is the responsefile:

duvelkeWell, from our .rsp files for Database Client installs:
oracle.client:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.winprod:10.2.0.1.0"}
oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
# ODBC
#oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
# OLE DB
#oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb:10.2.0.1.0"}
# ODP.NET för .NET v1
#oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb.odp_net:10.2.0.1.0"}
If you need ODP for .NET v2, you should complement the Oracle Home with install from ODAC 10.2.0.2.x (what a mess, isn't it). -
